Katy Perry wore Elie Saab last night to the Grammys, which reminded me that I had this very pretty dress by him in my arsenal. The lovely Keira Knightley wore it to the Toronto International Film Festival. The dress is a lot more detailed in person, as you can't quite make out all of them from the photo. I already loved Scott Sternberg from Band of Outsiders for his awesome cookie blog, now I love him even more because his latest ad for Boy has the lovely Michelle Williams ~~going nuts~~ working at an archive. Scott, I'm getting my Master of Archival Studies, would you like to send me some clothes? I promise I'll archive them for future generations in a Carr McLean textile storage bag within a Hollinger storage box. I'll even use acid free tissue paper between the garments and place an intercept bottom sheet in the box for extra protection. No? Fine, it was worth a try.

Spring 2012 RTW Yellow Laser Cut Flower Dress by Louis Vuitton

The last runway show by Louis Vuitton was beautiful, wasn't it? Marc Jacobs and his imagineers staged a giant carousel in the middle of the catwalk with dozens of girls wearing beautiful candy coloured dresses riding on white horses. It was pretty magical, even if the idea had been done by Chanel before back in 2008. Treat yourself and watch it here.

The below dress was one of my favorites from the collection. I used tiny paper flowers to replicate the laser cut flowers.

A huge hat tip to Frida Giannini -- the lady knows how to design a glamorous dress. Gucci's Spring/Summer 2012 collection is beautiful! I love the flapper direction. This dress in particular caught my eye. It was the first time I got to replicate fringe. I used embroidery thread and I think it turned out pretty cool. Jessica Chastain's Radiant Yellow Zac Posen Dress

The Academy Award nomination were announced yesterday and one nominee I look forward to seeing on the red carpet is acclaimed new comer Jessica Chastain (she was in seven movies last year!!). I loved this radiant yellow Zac Posen dress that she wore to the Tree of Life premiere. A lot of people don't wear yellow, so this was a very refreshing choice - I think it looks lovely next to her red hair! I also want to give a round of applause to Mr. Posen, who has been creating very beautiful dresses lately. I wonder if Jessica will wear him on the big night?

Golden Globes Best Dressed: Queen Tilda Swinton

There are A list celebrities, B list celebrities, and reality TV stars, as we all know, BUT there is also Tilda Swinton, who is in a league all of her own. She's funny, beautiful, talented, completely unique, and a muse to many designers. May I just say she looked great last night wearing Haider Ackermann. I saw this look and thought, meh I don't care what anyone else was wearing, as this colour is divine and that hair belongs to a rockabilly angel!

Style Icon: David Bailey

I bought the January issue of British Vogue on Thursday for the Florence Welch cover, but I think the first image below was the best part of the magazine. The photo was taken by the legendary David Bailey (who just turned 74 and still has got the goods) and makes me incredibly happy. It's of Tom Hiddleston, David Kross and Jeremy Irvine from the movie War Horse. I have not see War Horse yet and I barely know who any of the actors are, however, I love it as Bailey always captures the best side of people in his photographs. He is truly amazing.

Alexander McQueen Red and Black feather and sequin dress from the VOSS collection (Spring/Summer 2001)

Here is a replica I did recently of a vintage Alexander McQueen dress, that was exhibited at the Met this past summer. The original McQueen dress used microscope slides that were painted red to
"give the idea of blood underneath" for the top of the dress. Well, I obviously wasn't going to do that, so I used some awesome heart-shaped sequins I found two years ago at a goodwill store. I arranged them at different angles and I think it turned out kinda cool. Pictures and quote from the Met's McQueen "Savage Beauty" website.

Missi Pyle's costume from The Artist

I recently went to see The Artist with my friend, Bronwyn. It's a silent, black and white movie set in the 1920s and 1930s. I really loved it and I think those of you who like 1920s flapper fashion (I'm particularly thinking of Natalie from http://roxanneoak.blogspot.com/ ) will enjoy the gorgeous costumes.

This dress is the first one we get to see in the movie and was worn by the always funny Missi Pyle who plays Constance, an actress.

Hey guys, sorry for all the crazy posts yesterday (Tip: Never, ever blog when you are feeling crazy, sick and sleep deprived). Anyway, as I mentioned in my last post, I won't be able to post anything new for a month or two due to a hectic schedule with no time to craft. I deleted my last post (which was a silly gag about the costumes from the new James Bond movie). I lost a follower within 30 minutes of posting it and now I feel absolutely terrible. Sometimes I forget people actually read my blog, so I'm really sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't my intention at all, since I genuinely love Tom Ford and if anyone can pull off one of his fabulous suits it's Daniel Craig (evidence here). Also Dance for Your Papi is one of the catchiest songs I've heard recently (It's always stuck in my head and I sing it to my sister constantly) and J.Lo looks beautiful (as ever) in that Fiat Commercial.

Hopefully I'm just over reacting a bit, but bottom line, I'm a moron and sometimes my jokes make no sense.

Edit from the next day: Okay, my sister just saw the post in question. She laughed, said that I was being way too sensitive and that it was pretty clear I wasn't making fun of anyone. So, I feel a lot better and I'm now off to go sing "Dance for Your Papi." (P.S. I saw a new Fiat Commercial last night with J.Lo. Damn, I want one of those cars!)

P.P.S. I also heard from a friend (who is a D. Craig fan) that the post was funny. Well, I still won't repost it and I'll keep this apology up anyway, to show that I meant no harm and to hopefully prevent any celebrities from kicking my ass, ha! Lesson learned, my friends.

Carey Mulligan's Galaxy Print Christopher Kane Dress

I've always loved looking at the night sky and seeing stars. Lately it's been so dark out in the morning that I've gotten to seen a few constellations, namely Auriga the Charioteer, while waiting for the 6:00am bus to go to school. So, my secret love of stargazing made me want to replicate this adorable galaxy print dress Carey Mulligan wore to the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2010. The dress was designed by Scottish designer Christopher Kane and variations of it were also worn by Alexa Chung and Rosamund Pike. Pictures from here and here.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween is on Monday, so I thought I'd help you guys out there think of some great costume ideas. Originally I was going to post fashion suggestions like Anna Dello Russo, Karl Largerfeld, Tyra Banks, and Betsy Johnson, but I came up with some better ideas:

1. Jeff Bridges in TRON. Needed: old fashioned hockey helmet, Frisbee and puffy paint.

2. Jeff Bridges in True Grit. Needed: eye patch, bottle of booze, and cowboy hat.

3. Jeff Bridges in Starman. Needed: Plaid Shirt, goofy grin, and baseball cap (replace the baseball cap with your dad's glasses and you've got a Terry Richardson costume for your next party!).

4. Jeff Bridges in The Last Picture Show. Needed: Good looks and a construction hat.

5. Jeff Bridges in The Mirror Has Two Faces. Needed: Bow tie, dress shirt, glasses, and swept back hair. Also works as a Brad Goreski costume.
