I've just signed with the lovely people at Autonomous Music who will now act as my booking agents for North America. They represent a whole host of cool artists like Emancipator, DJ Vadim and Alex B. A lot of you have been enquiring about possible US tour dates - so expect Little People at theater near you in the not so distant future. No dates as of yet, but i'll be looking to play some venues with the release of my new album sometime next year. Needless to say i'm very very excited by all of this!

So something weird is happening... I seem to be doing rather well in the iTunes charts recently. If you've happened to be looking at the top selling electronic albums chart on iTunes over the past few weeks (for the US only, i'm nowhere to be found in the UK chart!), my first album has been bouncing around the 20 to 50 mark - rubbing shoulders with a whole array of big names and other artists i admire. It is spectacularly odd!! (i'm lying in 26th position in the screencap below - 1 spot behind Portishead's Dummy!)

In an age where artists rely heavily on blogosphere hype to raise their profile and help sell records, the 'little people' name is conspicuously absent from all the music blogs out there. Music journos and bloggers on the whole do not know me. There only was a brief marketing push when the album was released back in 2006, and i was never touted as the next big thing - not back then and certainly not now. Yet i'm holding my own in the charts with names which have racked up large word counts with online tastemakers. The reason to this success you very probably all know already - as it is no doubt how most of you have come to discover me - is Pandora.

However, why am i profiting more than most from having my music discovered on this popular online radio station? I'm stumped...

So several weeks back, i was going through some old boxes back at my mum's house when I stumbled across somthing that looked familiar... Turned out i'd unearthed some the old vinyl EPs I had pressed and self-released a few years ago - these being my first output under the moniker little people... It was a bit of a naive attempt at releasing a record and I ended up undertaking all the distribution myself, travelling around the UK to get my wax into local record shops. The whole operation didn't quite break even and with no promo nor marketing it was hard work trying to shift this stuff. The one big positive though, was that Ian Clifford at Illicit recordings was one of the early adopters... Fast forward a couple years, Ian felt little people should be given their moment... Mickey Mouse Operation is what followed.

I've added what's left of my old EP stock to my online store for whoever might want to have piece of little people history... It contains early versions of Moon, Unsaid, Start shootin' and Gravitas.

As an aside, i found this entertaining mashup someone posted a couple of weeks back. It sees me going head to head with Kanye... Anyone know of any other little people mashups out there?

Here's a quick little mashup thing a did a while back when working on a DJ mix - thought i should share it with you guys... Although it is a Snow Patrol track i'm laying on top, RJD2's beat ('Here and Now' from the 'Magnificient city' instrumental album) does make it sound rather good...
