UKNIT COPPEDE SWEATER KIT

There is nothing like finding a bag filled with beautiful wool on your doorstep, especially when it is from UKNIT Lab!

Now that the days are getting shorter,when the sun goes down, evenings spent knitting a few rows of a new sweater project sound perfect to me. I have already started working on my Coppede sweater kit and am loving it so far!

The design of the sweater is really straightforward and easy to follow! You basically work the front, back, the sleeves and then sew everything together! The instructions are printed in a lovely booklet, with the detailed pattern written in 4 (!) languages to choose from plus some lovely pictures of the finished sweater!

I can't even describe how gorgeous the Ginger yarn is! Made of the best fibres of mohair goat and Mulberry silk it feels light like clouds! It works up really lovely and the color selection is really interesting! I'm using a mint color for my sweater (choice No1 from the color card) but I also love the powder pink and lilac options. These are definitely on my yarn hoarding list!

The kit comes in a lovely package containing all the necessary things to make your own sweater! If you haven't already checked out their other kits you definitely should, as you will fall in love or why not try out some of their yarns? I'm sure you will find something perfect for a new project!

JAPANESE KNITTING: PATTERNS FOR SWEATERS AND MORE REVIEW

Japanese Knitting: Patterns for Sweaters, Scarves and More is a book that every knitter and crocheter should have!

It is already a huge bestseller on Amazon, and I can’t say I’m even a bit surprised; it is actually the first Japanese needlework book to be translated into English.

Michiyo, Japanese Knitting: Patterns for Sweaters, Scarves and More, author is known for her minimalist aesthetic which she has incorporated with her great success into the book. The textural elements make her knitwear styles polished and flattering, whether worn layered or as stand-alone pieces and I'm pretty sure you will find your own favorite garment to make and wear.

The book includes both knit and crochet patterns which made it really difficult to pick a favorite! I decided to make this lovely textured crochet cardigan using one of the most pretty yarns I own! I really think that this variegated yarn and the pattern were a perfect match!

The book contains all the necessary details to make each pattern plus a diagram for each pattern! The diagram itself was really easy to follow and after a couple of rows I even memorized the pattern! Detailed explanations of all the terms used are also included making it really fun and easy even for a not so experienced knitter or crocheter!

This knit cardigan is my next project and I can't wait to start looking for the ideal yarn to start knitting away!

RIVIERA TOP CROCHET PATTERN

Summer is here and lightweight crochet projects are on my hook! I am SO excited to show you guys the perfect summer top– the Riviera Top!

I wanted to design a fun summer garment and when I spotted this gorgeous shade of purple from DMC Natura Just Cotton, I knew it had to be this little summer top. It’s a cap sleeve top that’s soft, cool, and so easy to wear. The Riviera Top is basically 2 rectangles seamed at the shoulders and up the sides making it perfect even for a beginner.

The pattern listed below is for size S, or head over to Etsy or Ravelry to grab the PDF for sizes S through XL. The PDF is especially formatted for easy printing and includes all the instructions you need to make your own top.

Sleeves

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc across the row, turn, 103 sts.

Neckline
Next Row: ch 3, dc in each of next 30 dc, dc2tog, fasten off.
To make it symmetrical on the other side, count in the same amount of sts from the end of the row toward the center, attach MC to the next stitch. ch 2, dc (ch 2 and dc are worked together and counts as dc2tog), dc across, fasten off.

FRONT
To work the front, you’ll follow all the same instructions as for the back. Once you have two identical panels, weave into your ends. I recommend weaving them into the WS of our work so that they are hidden once your top is finished.

Assembly
Seaming
You will seam the shoulders first, then seam the body section and lastly seam the underarm section.
Lay Front and back pieces together so that the WS is is facing you.
1. Place stitch markers, connecting both panels.
2. Using Color A, attach yarn to corner st, and start seaming through both panels.
3. Use mattress stitch for best results. (find a great tutorial here)

Blocking your top is recommended.

REVIEW: LAZADAS PROJECT CADDY

When Lazadas Knitting Accessories contacted me to try one of their products I opted to try the Multi-Purpose Project Caddy. It’s really very ingenious, transitioning from a carry along bag to a yarn bowl!

The Multi-Purpose Project Caddy functions both as a project bag and a yarn bowl. Opened, the caddy can hold several skeins of yarn (or just one big skein of yarn!) like a yarn bowl. I also like to put my wip inside so as to keep everything together!

The fun part is that it has a loop handle that can easily slip through a slit to keep your project and accessories safe and tidy while you carry it by the handle or tuck it into a larger tote.

TUNISIAN BASKETWEAVE PILLOW PATTERN

Friends, I could NOT be more excited to share this post with you today! I am talking about a free Tunisian Basketweave Pillow pattern, because one can never have enough pillows, right?

If you are active on Instagram then you probably have already heard of Jessica, the talented girl behind The Hook Nook! If not, you should totally check this awesome lady out! I guarantee you will be inspired by her story and her makings!

For the Basketweave Pillow I used Scheepjes Color Crafter in the color “Urk” for the front piece and “Barneveld” for the back, a soft acrylic yarn that is lovely to work with and comes in really fun colors!

The Tunisian Basketweave Pillow is made using Tunisian crochet, a version of crochet that uses an extra long hook. This pattern uses the Tunisian Simple Stitch as well as the Tunisian Knit Stitch and the Tunisian Purl Stitch to create the basketweave effect!

OVERFLOW SHAWL WITH ZEN YARN GARDEN

I'm so happy to introduce to the Overflow shawl! This shawl is very special to me and literally when I received the lovely Magic Dye Pot series yarn from Zen Garden Yarn I knew it had to be turned it a lovely shawl!

The idea was to add everything to a shawl a crocheter would want; so it includes some easy single crochet, some double crochet stitches, some cluster stitches, a tad of v-stitches and even some post stitches.

To make things even more fun, it mixes three colors! The colors are so sweet and lovely together, making me happy every time I see even a glimpse of this shawl. But as you can guess, this is perfect for some color experimenting too! Pattern - Overflow Shawl

Yarn: 3 skeins of Magic Dye Pot series (E3, E5 & E6) of Superfine Fingering (90% superfine superwash merino, 10% nylon) approx. 400 yards of E3 (MC) + E5 (CC), approx. 250 yards of E6 (CC1)
Hook: 4 mm (G/6)

E3 referred as MC

Ch 1 at beginning of Row does not count as a stich

Ch 3 at beginning of Row counts as double crochet

Ch 4 at at beginning of Row 28 counts as treble crochet
