President’s Day

Frank always gets to play President Lincoln, on account of him being the tallest. If you haven’t heard of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, check out the book, or the trailer for the upcoming movie. Some things just sound utterly ridiculous, but can still wind-up being utterly awesome.

It’s President’s Day weekend here in the States, and it’s also my birthday weekend (which should be a national holiday, methinks). The Little Vampires will be taking a brief holiday, and the comic will return on Wednesday, February 22.

I know Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but monster love is forever.

I’m auctioning off the original art from Friday’s comic for charity. The auction ends Thursday, so get your bid in now!

My younger brother Thomas is raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to battling childhood cancer. Our father has been battling cancer for several years, so both Thomas and I are passionate about fighting this disease.

You can bid on the Valentine Cyclops art HERE on eBay. I will ship the art to the winning bidder for free! Every penny of the winning bid will go to my brother’s donation pool. I will be covering the cost of any eBay and shipping fees.

“I’m going to have my head shaved at a St. Baldrick’s Foundation event on March 11, 2012 at 4^th Street Live! here in Louisville. With my bald head, I’ll stand in solidarity with kids being treated for cancer while raising money for life-saving research. I respectfully ask that you make a donation on my head to help me reach my goal of $ 750.00, and watch me and others“Shaving the Way to Conquer Kids’ Cancer!” This is a fun way to do something very important.”

Frank has jet packs down, but he’s still working on making his own airplane. Airplane travel has fewer issues with bugs splatting on goggles.

Guest Comic From Dane Ault

I didn’t expect to have a guest comic today, but then again, I didn’t expect the Red Sox to ever win a World Series, so there you go.

Thanks so much to the amazing Dane Ault for gifting me with his fab art. And for saving my bacon time-wise. Dane is one half of Monkey Minion Press. He and the also amazing Ashlie Hammond are the creators of the delightful Captain Dan Takes a Day Off. If you like Little Vampires, and I know you do, ’cause you’re reading this and all, then I recommend that you check out Captain Dan. Monster pirates!!!!

So what’s keeping me busy these days? I’m working on a 28-page inking and coloring commission, which is awesome, but time-consuming, of course. James and I are both working on convention preparation, which involves getting new products out for y’awl. These include two new books. One will be our first collection of Little Vampires comics, yay! The other is about dogs, and is a collaboration with Marie D. McNeill.

I have never had so much coffee. I say this while seeing through space and time.
