These. are. awesome.

2012-03-10T16:36:00.000-05:00

And just in time for my favorite time of year!

No, not Christmas.

MARCH MADNESS!

I'll admit it, I go a little crazy with University of Kansas basketball during the tournament, but it's just more fun that way.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Go KU!

I mean, how fabulous would it be to have a jayhawk on my heel?

Preeeetty fabulous.

Would you rock your alma mater on some cowboy boots??

Good, because there are other schools too!

xoxo

I peaced out of the country

2012-03-03T10:22:00.000-05:00

and went down to Mexico.

Hush, I deserve it.

Can I just tell you how blissful it's going to be to lay on the beach all day and get drunkity drunk off margs?

I'm taking a break from gettin' my tan on to check in with you guys. And it's pretty difficult considering everything is in Spanish.
Taking French and Italian is really paying off.

When I get back to the states I will share some pictures and that will motivate me to even take pictures, which everyone knows I am terrible at doing.

Adios!

And I'm Moving...

2012-02-28T15:54:00.000-05:00

...to Colorado! Yay people!

The manfriend and I are super excited for this new chapter in our lives.

I have frolicked all over that great state, but Tony has never been.

He. will. fall. in. luff.

It will be amazeballs. I can ~~ski~~ après-ski, shop-sorry small town NC, you just don't do it for me (on purpose), hang with my family, and cause general ruckus with Whitney, my special blogland friend.

That is all for now. Sorry about the abandonment, hope you can forgive me.

Now who wants to help me pack/move?

Anyone?

Bueller?

If Only I Were a Kid Again...

2012-02-15T19:40:00.000-05:00

I would force my parents to turn my bedroom into this

I mean, why the hell not??

A kickass geometric wall, a gigantic pink bow, and that swing.

That swing.

That little chick is so lucky.

My parents obviously didn't love me as much as hers do.

Would you let your kiddos have a room like this?

xoxo Meg

Yes, I'm still alive

2012-02-11T18:17:00.000-05:00

Oh Lordy, have the past two weeks been cray-zay.

And in just a few days, I'll have so much more to share!

I'm not being secretive, I just don't even know myself.

For those who have just tuned in, my life will be taking a huge turn very soon because I will be moving.

And I have no idea where to yet. For real.

These are my top two destinations...

Colorado Springs, Colorado. Purrdy, no?

I make a darn cute snow bunny if I do say so myself. And husband likes the cold and snow.

Plus, I have a multitude of fabulous family members in Denver that would make this option a party in the USA.

Stuttgart, Germany. Woah, yeah. Germany.

I had to show a picture with words in it just to remind myself that I could be moving to a place where they do not speak English.

That could get interesting.

Before you go and get super duper jealous of me, keep in mind that I haven't divulged the entire list of possibilities. Because the rest of them pretty much suck. So here's to hoping!

You guys will be the ~~first~~ fourth or fifth to know!

Fingers crossed lovelies.

Shit People From Minnesota Say

2012-01-25T15:08:00.000-05:00

What up to my home state!

This video makes me proud...and embarrassed...all at the same time.

Oh for cute, dontcha know???

"yeah pink, it's like red but not quite"

2012-01-23T21:38:00.000-05:00

When I saw Erika from Urban Grace in Better Homes and Gardens, all I could focus on was her skirt.

I mean, right?

The world's most perfect pink maxi skirt is from Anthropologie, and is of course, sold out.

Tears.

But then, like a fashion angel, Mackenzie from Design Darling found a look-alike from Old Navy, for a lot less monies. Which I like.

But NOW, I'm all like, hello hot pink trousers.

You shall be mine.

Exceeeeept...

As much as I love Dsquared2, Mama is poor right now and needs a more budget friendly option.

That's where you come into play!

Please be my pink pant angel and find me some cheapa ones.

Many thanks!

xoxo Meg

how amazing is this townhouse?

2012-01-22T18:40:00.000-05:00

I keep catching myself going back and looking at the pictures of Trey and Jenny Laird's Manhattan brownstone, making mental notes of "oh, I am so copying this...I am so copying that."

Therefore, I felt the obligation to share some pictures with those of you who haven't seen it yet.

Hold on to your socks though, Jeffrey Bilhuber knocked it out of the park.

The entrance hall is graced with Gracie wallpaper (totally on purpose) and leopard rug.

Ugh, I die.

I love the mix of colors and all of the different layers of fabric.

And I always support the use of one of my most favoritest fabrics, the tiger-stripe velvet from Brunschwig & Fils.

I absolutely adore this breakfast nook.

From the Andy Warhol print of Jackie O to the check wallpaper and curtains, everything is so quirky and works perfectly together.

Ok, I actually hate the barstools, but I adore the floors in this kitchen.

The library really gets me.

I want to lick those dark, high gloss walls and then take a nap ride on that tiger-stripe chair and ottoman.

Yum.

Pretty outdoor space with mirror-backed trelliswork.

Very pure and calm master bedroom, and you know I'm a sucker for canopies.

Dressing room with plaster chandie and printed linen wall covering.

Their teenager daughter's room is one of my favorites.

I love the chartreuse walls and curtains with pom-pom trim.

For their son's room, I am so diggin' the preppy masculine feel.

It definitely screams "boy" without any eyeball murderous sports theme.

Couldn't you just move right in?

I love how the color was not afraid of color or texture. It really lets their personalities shine through and that's the ultimate goal, isn't it?

What do you think of it?

Discuss.

xoxo Meg

Gaston!

2012-01-16T11:48:00.000-05:00

I could not think of a better way to spend my day off than going to see Beauty and the Beast.

In 3D, obviamente.

As a little child nugget, I would watch Beauty and the Beast on repeat and sing all of the songs until my momma's ears bled.

The character I am most excited to see in 3D amazingness is the most underrated character of all, Gaston.

I mean, look at that handsome hunk!

Big muscles, great singing voice, and a butt-chin? Me-ow.

And yes, I am dragging my husband to the movie as well.

He is secretly excited. Even little boys loved Disney movies.

I'm ready for my popcorn, licorice, and ICEE tummy ache!

"I use antlers in all of my decorating"

Show Me Your Love

2012-01-12T22:19:00.000-05:00

If you read Peppermint Bliss-and why wouldn't you?-you now know that Bailey has up'ed her cool factor because she went to boarding school with Lana Del Rey (I know, major jealous!).

In order to up my own cool factor, I'd like you to fall in love with an amazingly talented singer who I went to high school with.

Hottie boom bottie, right??

Ariana Savalas, daughter of legendary actor Telly Savalas, had me falling in love with her back when we attended our all-girls high school together.

It was then that she recorded "Show Me Your Love" and unlike Christina Aguilera's classmates, we loved it and made her sing it whenever we had the chance.

There was no walking off the dance floor with this one.

Haters gonna hate.

Well, she just released her first single "Perfect Man" and her music video stars none other than McSteamy. Shirtless. A lot.

Chick has skills.

My advice for Ariana?

1. I highly recommend re-releasing a little "Show Me Your Love" remix. The world is ready for some more bubble gum pop.

2. Next time, put it in Eric Dane's contract that making out is required.

3. Keep kickin' ass, girl!

Pleasure for your lovely ears. Ready, go!

Woo Hoo for Jason Wu

2012-01-11T13:14:00.001-05:00

It seems like my mind has been full of fashion lately,

perhaps because all I seem to be doing is shopping for clothes.

Gracias, trip to Mexico.

As ya'll know I love Target, and designer collaborations with Target even more.

Remember this madness??

Well this time around, Target has teamed up with the fabulous Jason Wu to create a small (my wallet is crying tears of joy) collection that is as cute as can be.

Here are my top 10 favorite outfits...

Pleated front peplum top in gold and pleated skirt in black

Trench coat in black

Long sleeved blouse in blush and lace-printed straight skirt in blush

Long sleeved sheer blouse in white with black ribbon and pleated canvas skirt in belize blue

Pleated sleeveless shift dress in navy dots

Sleeveless top with sheer panel in navy floral and pleated skirt in navy floral

Long sleeved pointelle sweater in red, pleated cap sleeved blouse in red, and pleated skirt in navy floral

Jersey dress in red and navy stripes

Poplin dress in navy

And my absolute favorite...

Flared dress in cream with black patent belt

Aren't they all adorable?

And the best part? Everything is under $60...poor people after the holidays (me!!!) rejoice!

I hope you aren't getting too bored with all of the fashion posts...tomorrow I will be giving you a breath of fresh air, although very similar and little copycatish of Bailey's post today.

Happy Hump Day!

xoxo Meg

vacation all I ever wanted

2012-01-08T15:35:00.000-05:00

I don't know if I told you guys this, but I am taking a trip to Mexico at the end of February.
Insert happy "yay's" and terrified "I need to lose 8 el bee's" here.
Either way, I am on a wonderful mission to find the perfect beach outfits, bikinis, and cover-ups.

Ever since I saw the movie Something Borrowed (don't worry, I got it on Redbox and therefore only wasted a dollar and an hour and a half of my life on it) I have been obsessed with the white crochet shorts Kate Hudson wears.

Adorbs, right?

Well, the shorts are made by Letarte, a Maui-based label created by two sisters.
They have amazing pieces for all of your beach vay-cay activities.
Here are some of my favorites.

White crochet shorts, obviamente.

Leopard asymmetrical tunic
Perfect for grabbing lunch or shopping after relaxing on the beach.

White and navy triangle suit

Embroidered pom pom poncho
Who doesn't love a good pom pom?

I still have some more shopping to do, but making an online stop at Letarte was a must.
Sending you warm thoughts wherever you are!
Anyone else going on a mid-winter getaway?

xoxo Meg

I eventually do the things I say I will

2011-12-31T11:33:00.000-05:00

Give me a break, I'm still on vacation!

But here is the room I promised...

Everything about this room makes me happy. From the yellow zebra-print chairs, to the bursting crystal 1950s chandie, and of course the nun painting by Tony Scherman. Like whoa.

Don't you just love it?

Now I must return to all of my very important pajama wearing activities.

xoxo Meg

Rule #43

2011-12-23T11:01:00.000-05:00

Never blog on an iPad. I am 2 autocorrects away from screaming in the middle of this teeny tiny airport. So I apologize in advance for how this post may turn out, but I didn't want to leave all you lovelies hanging for so long. Lord knows when I am reunited with my homeland, my blogging is sure to decrease.

But because I have no idea how to work this thing when it comes to Blogger, I only have access to the few pictures I have saved on the iPad. Luckily, this little gem is one of them.

Just kidding, I can't figure it out. And I thought watching all those episodes of The Big Bang Theory were making me smarter. In any event, the room I wanted to share with you is not new, but I'm still so in love with it. It's the living room of Milly's Michelle Smith, ya know, the one with the huge nun painting by Tony Scherman? Maybe I'll post the picture tonight when I get to my mommala's house. Until then, hope you're having a wonderful Christmas Eve eve or fourth night of Hanukkah or what have you.

Talk to you all soon!

Xoxo Meg

Shit Girls Say

2011-12-21T11:21:00.000-05:00

My new favorite thing out in YouTube land are the Shit Girls Say videos.

There are only two out so far and I can't wait for the next ones.

In my humble opinion, they (they as in, yeah, just two) keep getting better.

Episode 1

"Hey, are you near a computer?"

"Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen...listen."

Episode 2

"Get these chips away from me!"

"That poor dog needs water."

Just a few of my personal favs from the episodes.

Hysterical, right?

And yes, we all sound like that. Whoopsies!

The Perfect Little Coat

2011-12-19T18:30:00.000-05:00

How cute is this?

Skirted Peter Pan Collar Coat

The collar, the cut, the buttons. It's all so lady-like and feminine.

Now, if only it came in black too...

Santa can you hear me?

Under the Weatha

2011-12-17T17:22:00.000-05:00

Hello Lovelies!

Fancy seeing me here on a Saturday, right?

I wanted to check in with you guys and let you know that I am currently a sick little monkey.

This will either result in many a blog posts this week, or very few. I am sort of leaning towards the latter as my efforts will be focused on a very speedy recovery as I am set to fly to Minne-notsomuchrightnow-snowta on Friday.

But we'll see...crazier things have happened.

Here's to hoping that copious amounts of Dawson's Creek and Gossip Girl is enough to kick this sickness's ass because for the love of Britney Spears (congrats girlfriend!), I refuse to be sick on Christmas.

And speaking of Britney Spears, I love that when you search for pictures of her engagement ring (we've all already done that, right? Right.) it automatically populates with the year...

i.e. Britney Spears engagement ring 2011

Thata girl Brit!

Morally Bankrupt Folks Like Myself Rejoice

2011-12-14T09:23:00.000-05:00

For Jimmy Kimmel has done it again. This time with terrible Christmas gifts.

Sure, Halloween candy is near and dear to any child's heart, but Christmas presents? That's basically a kid's whole life...so of course it's funny to mess with that.

There's one kid who is a stand-out favorite. Can you guess which one?

And be careful if you're watching this video at work (shame on you) as a seemingly innocent 10ish year old gets a little graphic.

Merry Christmas!

xoxo Meg

Furbish.

2011-12-13T10:12:00.000-05:00

Ok, so I told you guys last week that I ventured to Furbish.

So ya know those times where you hype something up so much and you dream about how awesome it's going to be and then when you actually experience it, it's a huge let down?

This is not one of those times.

The first part is totally true; I drooled over pictures, imagined items in my house-to-be, and became overly infatuated with a pair of dalmatian chairs.

I took a little road trip to Furbish and this is what I found...

I was initially greeted by a lovely hot pink door.

This is going to be good.

When you first walk in, it's a little bit of sensory overload. In a great way.

Amazing foxglove wallpaper. Swoon.

Don't you just love that painting by Jenny of MFAMB?

Look at that bed in all of its splendor.

And yes, those are my chairs. MINE.

The jewelry is all lovely. I especially liked those coral necklaces on the left.

But that's the necklace I snagged. I'll show it to ya in a hot second.

There are no words.

I love the mix of the floral granny-awesome sofa and that rug.

Black swirl chair...

Black swirl wall, done by Jamie herself.

Pillow talk. Remember those?

Delicious bubble-gum pink sofa.

Fabric wall, hung on cute puppy butt hooks.

And those chevron chairs? Yay!

All of the above pictures were taken from Honey + Fitz, I was much too awestruck to whip out my camera.

If I hadn't just spent so much money on Christmas gifts ~~for myself~~ I would have gone buck wild.

As soon as I find out where we're moving in a few months, all bets are off!

Here's what I did end up with...

Mr. and Mrs. hand towels. They are so cute and perfect in our master bathroom.

And my neck-a-luss

HOLLER!

xoxo Meg

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

2011-12-08T16:16:00.000-05:00

Actually, not really.

It is still about 70 degrees here in the south, which is sorta marvelous if you ask me. I miss the snow and the immediate sense of holidayness that comes along with it, but this temperature is much more civilized than the teen temps currently in Minnesnowta.

To get more in the merriment mood, I have been slowly turning my hatred of the red and green color combo into a sordid love affair. I'm not too sure how it happened, but I am loving reds and greens mixing these days.

Check it out.

Yes.

I mean, come on. That's awesome.

Feelin' it yet?

How about now?

No one can argue with me about that lantern. No one.

It's magical.

Oh, and because I am super awesome and extra helpful today, here is where you can get a similar lantern, PLUS a lamp that has a similar green geo pattern.

You're welcome!!

Carousel Lantern

Green Ribbon Trim Geo Lamp

Aren't they lovely?

Both are from one of my most favoritest stores, Furbish.

I took a road trip recently just to visit Furbish in all of its in-person glory, but more to come on that later.

It's almost Friday guys!

xoxo Meg

Things I Like...

2011-12-07T13:52:00.000-05:00

Let's get back to some home junk, shall we?

Here are some things that are out of this world...

That 1940's Fontana Arte chandy is ridiculous. I can't seem to get it out of my head.

Dark and handsome. Just how I like my ~~men~~ den?

That wallpaper. I would plaster that bright granny junk all ova my house if Tony would let me.

But he's lame-o, so I'm sure he will limit it to one room. Boo.

Leopard sofa and perfectly imperfect hangings of gold-framed art? Yes please.

And. that. reindeer.
Gimme one of those.
He looks so cute like that in the corner, having a holly jolly Christmas.

xoxo Meg

Happy Birthday Britney Spears!

2011-12-02T10:21:00.001-05:00

It's time to start poppin' Red Bull and bustin' out the Cheetos.

It's Miz Spears' 30th birthday ya'll!

Can you believe our girl is already 30?

She is just too wonderful for words and I only wish I could celebrate with her, sans shoes of course.

Let's all have a toast in her honor.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Keep on dancin' til the world ends.

xoxo Meg

Hello Lover

2011-11-30T14:32:00.000-05:00

All I have been able to think about today are these shoes...

I think these Brian Atwood heels would make a lovely addition to my wardrobe.

You can find them here. And they're on sale!

I am so in love with Emma Stone right now and all of her wonderful fashion choices.

She does make some missteps, but I'll ignore those for the time being.

Here are my top 10 favorite looks...

Calvin Klein

Bottega Veneta

Giambattista Valli

You already know how much I love this dress.

Tom Ford

Pucci

Louis Vuitton

Dolce & Gabbana

Lovely, isn't she?

She definitely is one closet I would love to raid.

Holiday Wish-List

2011-11-28T05:57:00.000-05:00

I survived cooking my second Thanksgiving meal. And I must say, I did much better than last year.

I brined my turkey this year, which I have never done by myself and not to toot my horn, but toot toot.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it seems Christmas is right around the corner.

I've gathered a few things from my Christmas List to share with you.

Yes, I still make one.

J. Crew Majesty Peacoat

Hunter Original Gloss Tall Boot

Kate Spade Spike the Punch Sweater

David Yurman Cable Classics Bracelet Aqua Chalcedony

Furbish Spotted Ottoman Tray

Kate Spade Taxi Mittens

Not too shabby, right?
