This week on the podcast we talk about how Isaiah called for the proclamation of the "good news" in earnest. In his time and in the fulfillment of Christ, we are to proclaim the Gospel of our Salvation. St Peter reminds us that the judgement is coming, we need to be prepared because we do not know when. Each generation has had signs to encourage us to turn to Christ before it is too late. Christ desires for all to repent, and we should be praying for that to fulfill the desires of God.

This week on the podcast we talk about how God gave power and authority to King Cyrus, even though he was a Gentile. Through Cyrus the Isrealites were able to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. God was able to use Cyrus as a tool, even though he was not the tool that was preferred or expected. In our lives it is good to contemplate how God is using imperfect people, maybe even strange authority, to bring about His will.

In the readings this week we encounter the Prophet Jeremiah and his inner battle. He is tempted to denounce the Lord, he is also being watched by his friends for any misstep to trap him in. These inner temptations of Jeremiah are the real temptations of our culture at the moment. We are reminded in that moment to trust in the Lord. Jesus in the Gospel says to "Fear no one." We are called to live in the midst of the chaos in the trust of Christ.

We are being tested during this time of crisis. God is looking to see if you remember that He provides for you. He will guide you and provide for you. Our world is in chaos, and we are in need of hope. Conversion of heart to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and reception of the Sacraments and living a moral life is the only way forward. What a controversial statement. We believe that Christ is the Way. Christ told us Himself, He is the Way. When will we start actually living the Gospel? When we live the Gospel we will love God and love neighbour. Chaos cannot thrive in a relationship of virtue in love. Each of us needs to grow in continuous conversion and renewal of heart. Then we will see the change that we long for.

This week on the podcast we talk about how Moses was able to be real with God. He prayed in a way that showed his frustration with the people of Israel. The people knew what they needed but they didn't ask God for it. In the Gospel we talk about the woman at the well, who didn't know to ask Christ for water, but he revealed what she needed and she asked. The Lord is so gentle with us when we are receptive to His mercy. He reveals the well in our hearts that is the spring of water welling up to eternal life.

On this second Sunday in lent we talk about aversion to climbing the mountain. When we make it to the top, we also don't want to leave. We don't like the cross, nor do we like the climb of exercising virtue to get up the mountain. We are to go as the Lord directs us, as Abram did when he leaves his father and follows the Lord. If the Lord is calling you, GO! Obedience to the Lord comes up a lot especially in Lent.

This week on the Podcast we talk about temptations. Specifically the first temptation of Adam and Eve and the temptations of Christ in the desert. Most of our sins fall into the three categories of sin, our base passions, our vanity and our pride. We discuss fasting and finding the sweet spot of suffering where growth is possible. In our temptations they will look like the gifts that God has given us, the other trees were good for food and beautiful to look at, the lack of obedience and taking something that has not been offered is where we go wrong.

Focus on contemplation, be prepared even for distractions, so you will not be disturbed in those moments. When you have control over your own passions and emotions you can have a positive effect on those around you without being controlling. Be holy as the LORD is holy, then you will be able to love your neighbor as yourself.

We are called to purge ourselves of our maliciousness and serve the poor, then we will be light in the darkness. In the second reading we talk about the power of the gospel on its own, no matter our weakness. In the gospel we talk about how we are called to be salt, and we are called to be light.

This week we talk a lot about the people you will find in the church. Those who withstand the refiners fire that is parish life, who wait on the Lord. In the second reading we talk about how Christ suffered and we can find Him in our sufferings. After the Gospel we talk about how there are labels that are self placed or placed by others in the Church and we need to see through them to the actual person and be able to love the person. We can, and are commanded to, love people that we don't agree with. There is a lot of healing to do in Church culture and serving, others who we disagree with will go a long way towards that healing.

This week we talk about the hope that can be found in desolation. When we are dealing with the mundane and the everyday-ness of life we can tend to lose our drive and excitement in our mission. When we have patience in the desolation and seek to be in a continuous state of grace we can be fruitful even through our times of desolation. Christ is the light and we are called to bear Him to the nations.

This week we talk about The prophesy of Isaiah that can be looked at in three different ways. First and foremost, Christ is the fulfillment of this prophesy. Second, St John the Baptist is God's servant and draws the people out into the wilderness seeking repentance and restoration. Third we are also called to be the light to the nations and to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Again we discuss the need for us to decrease so Christ can increase in our lives. We talk a lot about how we arent always the hero of our own story, we are sometimes a supporting actor. The roles that we play in teamwork most likely are supporting roles and it is a place to have joy in humility.

This week on the Podcast we talk about the prophecy of the baptism and the fulfilment in Christ. We really go into our response to holiness. In maturity we are able to rejoice in the gifts of others, not tear them down in jealousy or envy. We talk about how John recognised his role and questioned his worthiness to complete it. It was allowed for the fulfilment of scripture. We also talk about attitudes in which we question God in our confusion or misunderstanding, John does not fall into the same sin as his father.

It all comes down to the signs given to us and obedience to God's commands. We are all called to perfection and not to be afraid of the plans God has for us. St Joseph hears the commands and follows them, St Paul calls for us to receive the grace given to call others to the obedience of faith.

This week on the podcast we talk about the spiritual leadership of David. How David waited for so long, already anointed, and still mourned the death of King Saul even though they were enemies. This really spoke to us about holding the office in respect even if we know that the leadership is not perfect. The anointed of God still should be respected and mourned. It is a perspective that is lacking in today's culture. In the second reading we talk about how Paul points out Christ as the king of everything created, the levels of angels that are bad and good are subject to Him. We discuss the paradox of Christ's Justice and Mercy and how we should hold them together. We also focus on the correct interpretation of what Mercy really is verses the illusion of compassion. In the Gospel we talk about contemplating the sufferings of Christ and how they are the beatific vision.

This week on the Podcast we continue to talk about the last things. In the first reading we talk about Prophet Malachi and how his book condemns the offensive defiled sacrifices made in the temple since the return from exile. Malachi prophesies the destruction of the evil ones. In the second reading we talk about how St Paul exhorts us to work hard even if we think it is the end times. We need to keep from the idleness that brings about sin. In the Gospel we talk about the destruction of the temple in 70AD and how we are all called to be prepared for the end times in our day as well. Jesus tells us not to be terrified and persevere in order to save our lives, our spiritual lives.

This week on the podcast, we talk about the hope of the coming Resurrection through Christ. The first reading shows the seven sons suffering for their faith in front of their mother, who encouraged them to stand firm. Their witness, belief in the resurrection of the dead, and a life to come is an example of courageous faith. The blood of the Martyr is the seed of the church. We then go into talking about thinking in a meta context, and how to go about contemplation healthily. We talk about how a deeper reflection of the right way and wrong way to contemplate is needed.
