A Little Man or a Little Miss?

We are getting closer! Almost 20 weeks! On November 5th we will find out if this little one is a little lady or a bouncing gentlemen. Either way, this baby's a wild one! I'm finally starting to understand that what I've been feeling for a while is not my tummy but a wild baby hopping around.

Our kitchen is fifties inspired due to the original metal cabinets, chrome handles, and teal Formica counter tops. We then added a modern, yet still retro, touch with eco friendly rubber flooring in a black and white checkered pattern. The table we bought at DI for $25.00, painted and called it a day. The chairs were discovered for a great deal on ksl.com and everything is pink because my husband loves me more than anything. :)

And Then There Were Three

Well, three months ago, after four pregnancy tests (I'm a little impatient), celebration with hugs, laughter, and tears between Sky, our cat (Orien), and myself we announced to our families that we are having our first baby. What a day!

And then...I got sick. Really sick. Morning sickness is a lie. It is all day or whenever-it-feels-like-it sickness. But, now the glorious rays of my second trimester are starting to shine forth! I am fifteen weeks and still occasionally nauseous but, nothing like it used to be. The weight of reality is sinking in as my belly grows and even though it is frightening it is more glorious than I could have possibly imagined. This little baby is due on March 21st, 2013 and seeing it on the ultra-sound and hearing its little heart beat are two of the precious moments of my life so far.

My Dearest Little One, I love you more than I can possibly say.

We've come a long way.

On May 4th I graduated from the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah.

I chopped my hair off in between ceremonies....I am still getting used to it.

The next day I woke up and couldn't take being in between houses and cities that we finally moved in!

We celebrated our one year on May 27th.

Oh... and we are getting a puppy. His name is "Little Prince" (like from the book) he is a darling miniature schnauzer and we are obsessed with him.

We've been living in chaos but our home is coming together so beautifully. Little touches like the contact paper (great deal at target) are what make me smile daily. I love our home. I love the feeling here, that I am starting to plant in the front, that a humming bird had build a nest outside our dinning room window.

I have not been blogging. I am sorry ( I bet you are all losing sleep over it...ha. ha. ha.). Life is crazy when you are trying to graduate, ten months newly married, and trying to renovate a house, AND move as quickly as possible(we are still at my parents!). But, I promised pictures so here they are. Life is still good, very busy but very, very good.

Since you have seen the house in all its destruction glory we have: redone the hardwood floors (a full four days worth of work along with a very sore body), wallpapered, painted, put in a fuax ceiling in the living room, new bathtub, new sink, new (gorgeous!) bathroom tile, installed recycled rubber flooring (black and white!), put up light fixtures, and probably more things that I can't think of at this moment in time.

worth it?...I think, yes.

Soft pink ceiling provides light that everyone looks good in without being obtrusively pink. Textured wallpaper, great for imperfect walls and adds sophistication. I love it!

The work has begun! I kicked it off by tearing up carpet a day before any of the workers got there. I didn't plan on doing it at that point in time (as you may see from the clothes I'm wearing)...I just couldn't contain myself anymore! Also, I tried to take pictures on Tuesday of things like the bath tubs in the front yard, smashed tile, ect. but my phone turned off every time I hit the button to take the picture (and yes, I was hitting the right button...it just hates me).

The workers that I have met so far consist of the electrician and the plumber. The electrician or at least one of the workers is so wonderful! He speaks Spanish and some broken English so trying to communicate all day was a little rough but we made it work. He kept offering to help me rip up carpet if I needed more help (I obviously looked like I needed help since he kept offering) he just has such a good spirit to him. The plumber is hilarious. A white haired man with overalls and a funny sense of humor.

Tuesday I was having what I'll call, "new home bliss"...I was so in love with everything, the workers, all the problems with the house, how we could fix them, the potential. And I can honestly say that, I don't know if that will happen again. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO!!!!

We'll get there. Everything is moving pretty quick! We'll be done in no time.

If there are typos...I didn't reread this. ...I'm in a strange mood.

A wise woman, aka my amazing mother, once said to me...a couple of weeks

ago...that you should always start with your bedroom when working on a house. She said (to some effect) that it represents you and your spouses relationship. So, I better not neglect it even though it is soooooooooooooo tempting to just want to focus on rooms people are going to actually see first.

Here we go.

These are the extremely potential filled pictures of our new bedroom (the scary looking boarded window is from an old air-conditioning unit that will be a window again soon).

Assets:

two windows with cute window frames
hardwood under the carpet (not pine, actual hardwood)
little hidden hidey-hole closet (next to the bedroom door)
reasonable size closet for so old a house
it's ours!

I like to take my inspiration from nature and these pearls are just the glamour that I'm looking for. Let's start with the walls. I have been thinking about a light, pearlized, sheeny, gray color. White crown mouldings, baseboards, and ceiling.

Now, the floors. I am in love with dark wood floors!!! Because grey and dark wood floors arewell, darker I want to make sure to keep the room light by using the fresh, crisp white to contrast the gray and ebony stained floors.

Ok, now the fun part...furniture and details!

As a wedding gift from Sky's parents are getting us a Hayworth upholstered headboard from Pier1.

We own mirrored night stands from target (glamorous yet affordable)

An awesome vintage dresser we found on KSL that we are painting white (pictures to come)

I am hoping/wishing (hint, hint Sky ;) ) for this chandelier that I found at overstock.com that will add that extra pizzazz and it's a great deal as far as chandeliers go!

homedepot has inexpensive ceiling medallions which add so much to a room (I am all about the details! )

I also love the idea of black and white photos on the walls in different black frames. I'm still figuring out curtains and lamps. ...We'll get there.

We are moving into a 1926 brick bungalo. It has two bedrooms and
one bathroom on the main level and then a two bedroom, one bat

hroom basement apartment.

All old houses have their quirks. Our home is NOT an exception. (But, being almost ninety years old it's doing pretty good.) The previous owners, for some odd reason unknown to us, did not believe in rain gutters, except over doors (odd huh?...or cheap). All the way around the house you can see a dent that the rain has weathered into the earth. The electricity has not been updated in eons so, one cannot even run a computer, or blow dryer, or microwave or any other three pronged vision you can dream up. The list goes on and on but it's alright because it's our home and it's going to be just fine.

The picture may not look like much but I am so excited to brighten this little home up with window boxes full of abundant petunias, sweet potato vines, and other luscious flowers spilling over the edges, hanging baskets flanking the stairs as you enter the porch and an elegant little chandelier acting as the porch light. And the yard! Oh, don't get me started on the yard! All I'm gonna say is that, you and me blogger we are going to have a great spring dreaming up this yard and an incredible summer creating it!

Life is good. Stressful but good. Sky is working so hard and commuting from Salt Lake to Provo every day to work. He is such a hard worker. It's a Friday evening at six and he's asleep on my shoulder while I type. It's amazing marrying someone and watching them grow up before your eyes. We have been married eight months today and as I watch him step up and become a man I fall deeper and deeper in love with him.

Welcome back bloggers,

This is the home edition of Liv n' Sky!

We bought a house! Wahoo!!! We finally have keys. This has been quite the ordeal over the past couple of months but now we are ready to have fun and do what Sky and I do best: CREATE! (did that sound wrong...? it wasn't supposed to...) We'll be moving in late February while the home is rewired, re-insulated, vented, AC-ized, and other wonderfully, updatedingly fun things. We also get to paint, stain the floors, glamorize(on a DIY budget), basically have a blast, and guess what! You get to be there every step of the way! Home blog!

I love building things, I love renovations, and I love thinking that everyone loves reading what I write so now I get all three! Life is looking good. So, sit back and enjoy the ride!

School is here and with it rehearsals. Real life is not as fun as summer life. But, the play is quite fun and quite funny. I am in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the University of Utah. My midsummer nights dream is to have summer back. Long naps, blogging, kissing my honey in the elevator...yeah, I miss summer already! But, I do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss the heat. It is still among us and I have melted, died, and entered fire and brim stone! Why is it soooo hot!? I do not like it, not one bit.

And there you have it, my rambling for the night. This is our life now; hot, full of school (work for Sky), rehearsals, and long hours of not seeing each other but, life is still good and our home is still feeling wonderful. So good to come home to the one I love.

a trip to lagoon

Skyler and I had the opportunity to go to the theme park, Lagoon, if we payed for the parking. So, of course, we were there in a heart beat! Well, right after our stop at "In n Out." It was a fun, tiring day full of crazy roller-coasters, lines with insanely funny kids standing behind us, and a magical ferris wheel all lit up at night. Enjoy!

Camping

Day one of our Idaho adventure consisted of a family reunion. It was a camp out. Just a little back ground information about me...I don't camp. Even when I was little the idea of packing everything up, then setting it up in the dirt, cooking in the dirt, sleeping in the dirt, playin

g in the dirt, doing who-knows-what when you have to go to the bathroom in the dirt! And then packing it all up and bringing the dirt home to clean up. It didn't sound like much of a vacation. Although when we found out that on of Sky's uncles was giving us a tent as a wedding present Sky and I were thrilled to have our very own tent! I don't know why I was so thrilled. I'm not a camper but I am so excited that we own a tent!

Horses

Day two of our Idaho adventure (after camping) consisted of a two to three hour horse ride over these gorgeous hills then down into Onida lake where, after swimming and goofing around with my darling new sister, Micheala and her "friend" the handsome, Marco, we had the opportunity to swim with the horses bare back! I felt like Sonora from "Wild Hearts Can't be Broken"! It was so fun! But holy cow, I am the most sore I have ever been in my life!

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight is the night! It's Harry Potter night!!! The final! Number 7!!!!

Last night we celebrated by making wands with my brothers and sisters. I think Sky and I took it a little more seriously than the others (please see the image above). We have a tenancy to go all out with projects. Tonight I will be playing the role of Bellatrix Lastrange and Sky will be Harry Potter, talk about an awkward fanfiction if there ever was one! I hope everyone enjoys the night!

Hello my friends!

Life's been crazy! I've just been running from place to place! But, guess what! It's free slurpee

day! Sky had about three or four free slurpees....I had two. We are kind of sugaraholics. It's a problem that we're not quite ready to address. And now Sky is rapping to me about "reeses puff" cereal...you gotta love being married.

Any way, I don't have all that much to blog about on the subject of love and home life. We hiked up to Ensign Peak tonight with my sister and her husband and had a fabulous night remembering all of our favorite childhood memories. We're a little nostalgic this week because this will be the final, FINAL chapter of our childhood Harry Potter experience. What a wonderful time to grow up.

fireworks and middle earth

Happy fourth! (well, actually it's the fifth) Our fourth of July was full of fun. We went to the park with my family and cuddled on a blanket to watch the sky be dazzled with fire. Our first 4th of July was a success.

So...right now we have a dorky, mild obsession with "The Lord of the Rings." Ok, mild may be a little bit of an understatement. We're flat out obsessed. We have spent the last week watching all the extended versions and all "the making of." We then searched high and low for a copy of the book at our city library which, though it is a beautiful building, has nothing in it! What kind of a library doesn't have books?! (or at least the book I'm craving) To make a somewhat short story short, after two libraries, and searching at my parents house we ended up at a Barnes an Nobles at ten o'clock at night and purchased a beautiful, hard back fiftieth edition of the trilogy. What does this have to do with fireworks you may ask? well, nothing.

Two nights ago Sky came around the corner and surprised/startled/scared me so badly that a laughing attack seized me for about ten minutes! No joke. Deep belly laughter came from the depths of me. I couldn't stop and when I would try it would just start all over again. Marriage is so wonderful. I love our life. I love love!

complete dork. He says he fell in love with me then. We wrote for seven months. And that is how it all began. Letters from Paris that stole my heart.
