If you’ve been thinking about relocating or buying a second home in the Sunshine state, now is the perfect time to look for Florida homes for sale.

The recent bottoming out of the financial and real estate markets has made finding an affordable home or condo much easier in all parts of Florida. Many counties in Florida were severely impacted by the real estate downturn and the values of some homes plunged as much as 57% since Florida real estate peaked in 2006. Now many of these homes are for sale for much less than they were.

Although this makes things more difficult for current Florida homeowners, it represents an opportunity for homebuyers to find a great new Florida residence at basement prices. People that have saved cash might be particularly interested in the vast number of foreclosed Florida homes that can be purchased for significantly lower prices than what they were selling for three to five years ago. These properties include everything from beachfront homes, condos and townhouses to more modest properties in central Florida.

Depending on the home, you might be able to find a property with access to a swimming pool, a hot tub, a home that has several bedrooms and/or bathrooms or a modern kitchen at a fraction of the cost you would have paid years ago. Many sellers are motivated to sell, so don’t overlook negotiation as a key way to bring the cost down to a price that you can afford.

If you’re planning a visit to the Florida Keys and you’re looking for lodging that isn’t a hotel or motel, you might want to consider a Florida Keys vacation rental.

Vacation rentals are a great way to have all of the amenities of staying in a fully furnished home or condominium in this highly popular vacation spot. In many cases these rental properties can accommodate more people without the hassle of having to reserve several rooms at a central hotel. Depending on the rental property, these units are equipped with fully outfitted kitchens, including a stove, refrigerator, cooking utensils and a microwave oven so vacationers can spend less on dining out by preparing their own meals.

Other things that might be included with a vacation rental are a washer and dryer, linens, cooking utensils, use of a pool, private beach, tennis courts or beach views. It’s always a good rule of thumb to discuss whats included with your vacation rental prior to signing a rental agreement, so you can be sure there aren’t any surprises once you arrive.

Another nice thing about Florida Key vacation rentals is that many of these properties are offered on a weekend, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis, so if you’re looking for a short or an extended stay it offers some amount of value for your vacation dollar, especially compared to hotel rates.

The next time you want to get out of town and enjoy some time away in the Florida Keys with all the amenities of home, consider a vacation rental.. you’ll be glad that you did!

Sunshine and waters sports are activities that Florida is famous for. One of the most breath-taking and well visited parts of Florida are the “Florida Keys.” The “Florida Keys” is an archipelago made up of 1,700 islands about 15 miles south of Miami. Not only do islands exists here, but they’re tropical islands, which is always a boon for tourism. Huge amounts of tourists flock to the Florida Keys each year, some of them hell-bent on snorkeling.

Florida keys snorkeling is a popular past-time for tourists and locals alike

Divers and snorkelers are attracted to the Florida Keys each year due to the distinct natural beauty and resources. The Florida Keys are home to the only living coral barrier reef in the United States. The 120 mile long Keys allow for vast exploration for underwater enthusiasts.

The Florida Keys are considered to be such a natural treasure that the US government established the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary in an effort to conserve wildlife in the area.

The Florida Keys are home to an abundance of diverse underwater life. Even non-native fish like the Invasive Lionfish have arrived in the area. For this reason, divers and people engaged in snorkeling have to be well-trained and cautious. An encounter with a Lionfish can be troubling.

“There is also increasing concern among fishery scientists that lionfish, having no natural enemies, may adversely impact natural fish populations. In addition, this fish has venomous spines and may pose a danger to divers and anglers alike.”

Florida Keys snorkeling spots are of prime interest to tourists and locals alike. Snorkeling in the Florida Keys is a pay-for-play business for the most part. There are numerous tour operators who are experts in the area and will know all of the best snorkeling spots. They’ll take you out for the afternoon in a boat and lead you to the best spots where you’ll be able to see all of the abundant aquatic life in the American Caribbean.

Snorkeling in the keys is an active and established business. You’ll see boats coming and going all day long, ferrying tourists to the best snorkeling spots the Florida Keys have to offer. When it comes to diving or snorkeling, the best policy is always “Safety First.” When you deal with trained professionals, you are much less likely to experience any danger while enjoying nature. Instead you can focus on the fun that a snorkeling adventure can bring to you.

Florida tourism is stimulated by travel to the Florida Keys. The area has always been world class for its natural beauty and you can expect top notch arrangements and amenities when you stay in the Florida Keys.

Solar energy makes a lot of sense for Florida. A new study says that the solar industry could spawn 85,500 new jobs. That’s if Florida adopts a proposed requirement that 20% of the state’s energy comes from renewable sources b 2020.

That would be good news for a state that has been hammered bad by the current economic crisis.

Gwen Rose, deputy director of The Vote Solar Initiative, said the jobs estimate comes from a study by Navigant Consulting that showed more than 3,800 megawatts of solar power could be generated if the state goes to the 20 percent standard. According to Navigant, with each megawatt yielding 15 to 30 direct jobs, that translates into 57,000 to 114,000 direct jobs — 85,500 is the mid-range.

Today, Vote Solar placed a job listing in the Classifieds section of newspapers around the state, including The Palm Beach Post, stating: “HELP WANTED: 85,000 electricians, engineers, sales to staff the new solar energy economy. Apply at Legislature. Ask for strong solar energy policies.”

Florida residents will know the outcome by May 2009. For a state as sunny as Florida, expanding the solar energy seems to be a no-brainer.

Things are bad these days in Lehigh Acres. The town exemplifies what happens when booms give way to busts. The town went through a period of extreme over building which has now been replaced by a complete lack of demand.

Worse, there are a number of bad social effects going on now. Crime is up, drug use is rampant, and people who live in the area are feeling depressed about their futures.

There are so many foreclosed homes in the area without residents that marijuana kingpins have taken to growing weed in them.

Now people in the area are at risk of going hungry. Many of them are getting their meals in bread lines as unemployment is through the roof.

Local officials don’t expect any improvements until foreclosures stop.

A Florida homeowner wants a bailout like the “big boys” are all currently getting. He’s been getting plenty of attention since he added a “Where’s our bailout?” sign to the roof of his house.

Ken Strzepka, 41, put the sign up the day he first learned about the $700 billion bailout of the financial sector. He says he took exception to President George W. Bush calling homeowners “irresponsible.”

“How dare he say that Americans are irresponsible when the people guarding the hen house are the most irresponsible, and they got their money first? said Strzepka, who owns an audio/video installation and energy efficient home upgrade business that he said is currently not doing any business due to the nation’s economic woes.”

“Homeowners still haven’t been helped,” he said

His house, and in particular his roof, has been getting plenty of attention lately since the bailout is so unpopular with most of the public.

If you or your family is planning a trip to Orlando, Florida, you aren’t alone.

Located in central Florida, Orlando is a popular tourist attraction because of the many theme parks located there. The most popular park is Walt Disney World, with an estimated 15.2 million visitors a year. Other attractions and things to do while visiting Orlando include The Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Animal Kingdom, Seaworld, Universal Studios-Florida and Disney-MGM Studios.

Ticket prices vary per theme park, a quick check of Disney’s website listed a one day ticket for an adult (age 10+) as $75.00. Children’s tickets (age 3-9) were $63.00.

Multi-day tickets to these family friendly destinations give visitors the chance to enjoy more than one day at these theme parks and offer a bit of savings to the consumer. Vacationers that stay in a Disney Resort might also be eligible for additional discounts on admission to their family of resorts.

Other smaller attractionss in the area include Gatorland in South Orlando, Wet-N-Wild, a 25 acre waterpark and the Orlando Science Center, north of Orlando.

For those that would prefer to do something other than the theme Park shuffle, another popular thing to do is to hit the golfing greens. Popular golf courses in the Orlando area include Osprey Ridge Golf Course, Palm Golf Course, Eagle Pines Golf Course and the Magnolia Golf Course.

Shopping is another great thing to do while staying in Orlando. There
are outlet malls that offer a myriad of products including designer clothing, electronics and jewelry, sometimes at significantly lower prices than retail.

Due to its’ location in the middle of the Sunshine state, if visitors want to swim in the Atlantic ocean, they’ll need to drive to Daytona or Cocoa Beach to enjoy a day at the beach.

Now is a great time to hunt for cheap Florida travel packages

Some people are saying we’re in the midst of a global depression. Others might argue. But one thing’s for certain. People who have the money to do it are very likely to do well shopping for discount Florida travel these days. When times are booming, ticket prices to many of Florida’s world famous attractions are high. When there’s a general economic slowdown, you can often find deals for a song and a dance.

Discount Florida Travel

Let’s say you’re looking to book a discount trip to Orlando. Orlando is famous for the amusement parks and the great sunny weather. The town also has an abundance of hotel rooms, even of the resort quality, available at any given time. Tickets and hotel rooms should be easy to find at a discount, the bigger problem will be airfare for your vacation.

Florida discount vacation packages are becoming more widely available each month

As the tourism industry in the USA has been suffering from declines, discounts become more prevalent. Miami and Orlando are in competition with other hotspots like Las Vegas for a dwindling tourism dollar. You better believe all of these towns and their tourism businesses are more than willing to compete on price and amenities.

Since you’re the buyer, you may as well search for the best deals. If you can save money on your next trip, more power to you. It’s not like these places are giving you a discount out of the kindness of their hearts. No, they’re issuing discounts because they need the business. Knowing that Florida discount travel is abundant, you have the power to negotiate better deals after searching for your perfect vacation.

Look for bundles that offer real savings

If you already have the amenities picked out, then hunting for a package deal makes a lot of sense. Say you want to visit Disneyland, go on a charter cruise, and stay at an all-inclusive resort when you visit Orlando. That should be no problem for any of the fine travel agencies specializing in discount Florida vacations. Packages have become a lot more popular in recent years because they offer a real value to consumers.

Entertainment bundles and high end hotels on a discount can be packaged together along with cheap hotel flights to make your next trip to Florida one you’ll remember for the rest of your life. If you have the cash (or credit) these days to travel, then you’re one step ahead of a large percentage of the population who don’t. There loss is your gain as Florida travel companies are forced to cater to your needs since people aren’t visiting in droves like prior years.

The Florida school system has posted the highest school grades ever with more schools earning A’s and B’s according to The Florida School Recognition Program.

Of the 2,889 Florida schools graded this year 2,125 are considered to be high performing. This means that they received an A or B ranking.

Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith said “The school grades this year indicate that Florida’s teachers and schools are going above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. I commend them on such excellent work, and thank them for their continued efforts to provide quality learning environments that enable our children to succeed.”

Here is how Florida school grades ranked in 2008.

• 1,583 earned an A (55 percent), an increase of 100 schools compared to last year
• 542 earned a B (19 percent), an increase of 73 schools compared to last year
• 565 earned a C (20 percent), a decrease of 22 schools compared to last year
• 154 earned a D (5 percent), a decrease of 62 schools compared to last year
• 45 earned an F (2 percent), a decrease of 38 schools compared to last year

The Florida School Recognition Program works to improve the performance of schools throughout the Sunshine State and offers financial incentives to schools for raising the bar.

That’s just another reason that Florida is a great place to live, especially if you have children.
