22:36 Technically my first memento day. Really looking for an app that gathers all my feeds and then I'll summarise whats going on with a moment of the day. Really looking to publish it onto my blog so will try and do and export and then enter it onto blogger. Problem here no doubt but something to find out later

As for today. Started very earlier with watching game 6 of NHL playoffs and unfortunately seeing the ducks go out against Nashville. Refs were poor bit the defense and goalie issues still loom as a larger problem for ducks

This morning after a leisurely breakfast the three of us went to castlepoint and I got a new lens for my camera. Happy to find a 55-200 image stabile canon to go with 18-55 that I got with camera. Tried them in the garden in the sun and boy the zoom and quality is good. Ordered a lowepro 300 aw runner of eBay and a hod lens set as well so that should give me plenty to do. Think video camera will fit in bag as well. It's now got no excuse not to do everywhere with me.

Painted the bottom of the hall in nutmeg White which you can see as it goes on but it's not a lot of different. Want to finish the rest of the hall next weekend if I can around visitors.

Tidy of house tonight as mum 2 coming to stay for week. Go think we aren't that messy anymore!!

Lastly it's pay day week. Yaaaah!!

Yes its been a while again since I posted. Been busy and getting worse.

Just wanted to do a quick one to comment on all the new ways that it is now possible to link things with other things and social networks.

Quick "what am i doing?" thats got to be twitter you'll find that this is really taking off in the uk - its great. I use Tweetdeck on the laptop to update this - twitterific on the phone

Music - last fm scrobbling is the phrase - go there to find out more!

End of a year - full

Well the year of 2008 comes to an end and its been an interesting year full of all sorts of things in my life. Thought I would cap the year of for me by getting them all out and down:

- Had the first Christmas with C where she knew what was going on
- Started and complete year 1 of two in Masters
- Changed jobs
- Left my wife
- Moved out - and into a new flat
- Replaced the car
- Work out who my really good friends are
- Lost and then gain some self-confidence
- Made my first caramel
- Flambed for the first time (fun!)
- Finally figured out why guitar hero is so popular!
- Stopped blagging (mostly)
- Got honest
- Smiled a lot
- Got the best gadget an iphone!!

Thanks all i can remember straight off but its been a full year with ups and downs. As I write i am doing one of the things i most enjoy and thats being a dad - Charlotte is staying here tonight (hence I am not out on the time!)

Sitting in bed I have finally got round to downloading and trying a blogging app for the iphone. Rules it has to be free and good. Trying lifecast and after a five minutes config here is me typing away.

Also just tried to find a hotmail download (email) app and there are no free ones. Not paying for email that is at an account I barely recieve anything on.

Xmas period

Well its been a while (again) since I have blogged. Why? Well firstly Brighkite and Twitter get my status updates all the time - and believe me writing 140 char max is a much easier way to update what is going on in life!!

Apart from that busy sorting out my life and my flat now I'll be here for a while.

So the Christmas day break has come and gone and its back to work tomorrow. Glad to have got through it fine and without any disaster - and had a great couple of days with Charlotte this weekend as well.

Best present of Christmas? Cheaping a little - its the one I bought myself prior to Xmas a new car. The last one was leaking and old - this one is lovely. 1.6 Zetec Ford Focus - 6 months old and Panther Black (thats black to you and me).

Most interesting present - well i have been trying not to refer to this place as a bachelor pad - but Al made that harder. Set of bar optics for the side - and then I went and bought a new bed in the sales as well ;) whatever next

Happy Christmas to anyone reading and have a good New Year. Currently not sure what I am doing for the New Year - might have C might not. If I do then its a quiet night in and Jools; if not then its make a few phone calls time :)

Where have i been?

Anyone who reads this may have been wondering where on earth i have been for the last several months. Life has got somewhat more complicated for me - although I am starting to sort that out.

Anyone who knows me well will know what is going on - anyone who wants to know what is going on then maybe I'll blog on here about it one day - but not tonight.

Anyway just checking in for now to let everyone thats reading to know that things are okay and actually starting to get a lot better now.

Maybe soon I'll get some final sorting done - but until then I'll enjoy living in this falt and getting on with life a little bit!

Had some bad news tonight it seems that our MSc is now back to 6 with Tim dropping out today. I can only guess that work has got too much for him again - but this is not good at all. It leaves E in her group with just the other 2 and the course weaker overall. I can see why Cranfield is getting worried about the ability of the course to be sustainable.

I have to really concentrate this weekend and get on with the two assignments that I have to do writing up both the interviews that I have plus the model that I need to evaluate. Also MUST do my ethics form.

Pity overall and means that we will have to reform as a group i guess :(

Mobile Location

One thing that the new iphone (which I and Jo have one each) does really nicely is the GPS function. Its impressive and very handy. One thing it doesn't do well so far is link to the few sites that are set up for that and social networking. Brightkite is a good example and they have a application in development (oh "development") which will be good to see but you never know.

Fire eagle looks like a good base for other stuff - but still needs something to take the location automatically. Anyone find a good one let me know - I still have brightkite invites to hand out!!

A morning hard work

After a morning of hard work finding the isolation taps for the hot
and cold and the upstairs versions of then draining the water I am
happy to post that the cold tap is working for the first time in a few
days and no more cleaning teeth in the bath!!!

Carphone warehouse iphone experience

Well its been an interesting couple of days with the carphonewarehouse and attempting to get new phones for me and jo as presents.

Started with nothing in stock anywhere. Then Wednesday morning the 16Gb ones came into stock and I ordered two one the website. Got two order numbers and was happy. As the day went on they went out of stock and then I only received one stock confirmation in the evening. Looking back the site says only one per customer - but its small and I missed that. So only one order when i want two. No message from carphonewarehouse about the second one ever.

Then today keeping an eye on the website they came back into stock for a little bit. Ordered a second one under Jo's name so she can have one and all done. Then two minutes later get the call from the bank that they have refused the payment. Not happy - they suspect I am not really me. Got that sorted then had to phone carphonewarehouse to check. Redid the payment and fine - and they were really helpful on the phone.

I missed my delivery today (went to see dark knight v good) and now expecting two tomorrow to arrive.

Now the only thing I am waiting for is the PAC codes. Ordered yesterday morning from vodafone and they phoned today to checked today so I am hoping that they will arrive tomorrow but I am guessing that it will be Saturday knowing the speed at which they want to get rid of me.

Looking forward to playing with it though!!

Software and whether it helps

An interesting debate. We have spent the last 3 (four?) months trying to embed a performance management framework in a work - and its been easier in some parts than others. The areas that are easier to tell what to do have bought into the process a little more (but maybe not the effects) and the other areas not so much. Its got the the stage where I want to do so much more - but have reached the limits of time with the technology I have.So we have started to look at software and now I'm trying to justify something that wasn't in any business plan - but is needed. It makes me wonder am I going round the system - or working within it.Anyway back to the point does software help? How many times have you seen software be bought in for the wrong reasons? How many times because someone thinks it can do the job - rather than doing the job and then automating or something similar!Lets see - two days till holiday and don't want to lose the momentum - which is easy to do

Saturday morning hangover

Work up this morning with a hangover - but not me. Jo had a really good night out last night and is currently feeling a little worse for wear and snoozing on the sofa. Watched the cricket highlights today and it was amazing to see the South Africans have a desire to bowl ALL OVER THE SHOP!! Mad. Graeme Smith must be really not happy with them tonight as they watch it back.

Nevertheless Pieterson did decide late this afternoon that it was time for the scoring to pick up. A deserved ton and he's 1 for 1 in test against SA and I'm sure he won't let anyone forget that - oh no!!

Bell's innings was interesting - he looks like a man who has found some form - in both the ODI and county games. He looks very close to getting a big big score - maybe tomorrow will be his day. Lets hope so. Want to get that up to about 450 and go from there.

Work manic this afternoon - how many different ways to cut the RTT model to get the answer that has already been given. Hmmmmm looking at it now we rushed into it.

But hey its Friday tomorrow thank heavens and some time off. Only a week till holidays and far too much to do.

Jo and I just had an interesting debate twittering and status updates. She can't understand why people would want to let everyone know what is going on. Me - I like doing it and read a few others and like being able to tell everyone what I am doing. Not sure how many people actually read it - but thats not the point. I can say it and get it out.Like now.Anyway tennis just finished and that was a great match and Nadal deserved to win. 6 in a row was too many and this really does look like Federer is on the way down - although his force of will nearly made it. But all great champions have a nemesis and he has found (and been beaten) by his.Won't bet against him though for next year!

U20 manager

Well I am the U20 GB manager for HA from today and hopefully a lot really good young players coming through.A big concern is the league one survival - need somewhere around 28 points to stay up. 2 points for a win so I will need to probably win 8 games and get some draws and OT points here or there. To start the season I have 3 teams that finished in the 9-12 region last year so I will have to go out all for it for a win with those games. What makes it more complicated is the run in the the end of the season I have is really not good with some of the bigger teams there - so will have to maybe look for a result or two there to help out. Cannot rely on that so will have to hit the ground running. Young 2/3 line will not help and I normally like building up the team spirit - but I think I will have to be very careful with not building that up too much. The NC games will have to be carefully used - I should get an easier run with being a league one side.

Back and the NHS

Well managed to do something at the weekend that i haven't done before. Was putting stuff away in the morning and got a nasty back spasm and then that was it for must of the weekend. Lying on the floor as pretty much unable to do anything else. Fortunately today its feeling better and hoping that Thursday I can go back out on the bike.

As for other stuff the Darzi report finally came out - and really didn't say all that much new in the end. The south west document was much more detailed for targets and where we are going and we expect to see a lot more of that coming through in the next year.

Last and not least the newest gadget that I have started using is twitter. Its a nice little thing for updating briefly what you are doing - without a lot more words. Like the status on facebook but easier to do.

Out on the bike

Well finally got out on the bike today for a nice good ride. Was doing really well until I got a nasty bit of cramp in the right calf.
