I have always liked EATING cucumbers, however after reading this e-mail I like them even more - and NOT just for eating. SCROLL DOWN AND PREPARE TO BE EDUCATED ABOUT CUCUMBERS.

'The insemination man is coming over to impregnate one of our cows today, so I drove a nail into the 2 by 4 just above where the cow's stall is in the barn. Please show him where the cow is when he gets here, OK?'

The rancher leaves for the fields.

After a while, the artificial insemination man arrives and knocks on the front door.

Amy takes him down to the barn. They walk along the row of cows and when Amy sees the nail, she tells him, 'This is the one right here.'

The man, assuming he is dealing with an air head blond, asks, 'Tell me lady, 'cause I'm dying to know; how would YOU know that this is the right cow to be bred?'

'That's simple," she said. "By the nail that's over its stall,' she explains very confidently.

Laughing rudely at her, the man says, 'And what, pray tell, is the nail for?'

The blond turns to walk away and says sweetly over her shoulder, 'I guess it's to hang your pants on.'

patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"

The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence,
thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea."

To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to
discuss global warming, universal health care, or the economy, when you

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot...BOTH ways…yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of fifty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

When I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our butts! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

There weren't any cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH!!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600, after I grew up and got out of the house! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen...Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your butt and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled Brats!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 60's or 70's or any time before!

Valentines Day Dinner For Two

Recipe Ingredients

Marinade/Dressing

1⁄4 cup olive oil
2 tsp freshly grated lemon peel
1⁄4 cup fresh lemon juice
3⁄4 tsp salt
1⁄2 tsp freshly ground pepper
1 bunch scallions, bottom ends cut in 32 pieces, remaining green chopped
1 Tbsp chopped fresh sage leaves or 1 tsp dried
2 tsp chopped fresh thyme leaves or 1 tsp dried
1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary leaves or 1⁄2 tsp dried
16 large peeled and deveined shrimp (about 8 oz)
8-oz 1-in.-thick swordfish steak, cut in 16 chunks
16 small white mushrooms
Salad
1 can (19 oz) cannellini beans, rinsed
1 large beefsteak tomato, coarsely chopped
1⁄2 cup chopped parsley
1⁄2 cup red onion

Recipe Preparation

1. Heat outdoor grill. Have ready eight 10-in. or longer skewers (see Note).

2. Marinade/Dressing: Put olive oil, lemon peel and juice, and salt and pepper in a large bowl; whisk to blend. Remove and reserve 2 Tbsp. To mixture remaining in bowl, add chopped scallion greens and herbs. Add scallion pieces, shrimp, swordfish and mushrooms; stir to coat. Marinate while making the salad.

3. Salad: Put ingredients in a serving bowl. Add reserved Marinade/Dressing; stir gently to mix and coat.

4. Kabobs: On each skewer, alternately thread 2 each mushrooms, swordfish chunks and shrimp and 4 pieces of scallion. Grill 10 minutes, turning once, or until just cooked through. Serve with salad.

Note: If using wooden or bamboo skewers, soak them in water 30 minutes to prevent scorching. Run 2 skewers side by side through the food to keep it from swiveling when turned on the grill.

Yesterday I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Biscuit, the Wonder Dog, and was in the checkout line when the woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my
story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's hind end and a car hit us both.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Costco won't let me shop there anymore.

Better watch what you ask retired people! They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.

Computer problem in Florida / True story

Technical Support, how can I help you?

FEMALE CALLER: 'Last night my computer started making a lot of hissing noises at me so I shut it down. This morning when I turned it on the computer started hissing and cracking, then started smoking and a bad smell, then nothing'.

TECH SUPPORT: 'I will have a technician come over first thing this morning.
Leave the computer just like it is, so they can find the problem and fix it, or change it out with another computer. Give me your address; phone number and the technician will be there just as soon as he can'.
When the technician got there, the lady showed him where the computer was,
said what happened to it, ... this is what the technician found wrong.

Take a look at the pictures... YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES ... And you thought YOU had computer problems!!!

The technician told her: ... 'It must have been after the mouse!'
... The woman didn't think it was very funny at all!

It's That Time Of Year

There is nothing like fresh corn on the cob. Where we live there is an abundance of fresh corn during the summer, and it can be purchased very inexpensively. This year I decided to try to freeze some for us to enjoy this winter. It is very easy to do and doesn't take too much time after you shuck the corn.

I went to a local farmer's market
and was able to get six dozen ears of corn. They had boxes of corn where you could buy two dozen and get one dozen free. So I paid a little over $10 for all that corn. Not a bad deal!

To have the best luck with freezing your corn on the cob, it should be the sweetest corn you can find, and you should freeze it as soon after it has been picked as possible. That means growing the corn in your garden or getting it from a local farmer's market, not from the grocery store. Keep the corn refrigerated until you are ready to prepare it for the freezer.

Shucking the Corn

The first step is to shuck all the corn. For this step you might want to get the whole family involved. Shucking means to peel back all the corn husks and remove as much of the remaining strands or silk as possible. If you want smaller ears of corn you can also break the cobs in half.

At this point some people put their corn on the cob directly in the freezer. Many people recommend it and say they have had no loss of flavor or texture. However, experts recommend blanching the corn first before freezing. Corn has enzymes in it that will cause the corn to lose its texture, color, and flavor while it is frozen. Blanching it first stops this process and preserves the quality of your fresh corn. It is safe to freeze corn without blanching it first, but if you are storing for a long period of time, the blanching will produce a better result.

Blanching the Corn

To blanch the corn, fill a large pot about 3/4 full with water and bring it to a boil. I used my canning pot. In this size pot you should be able to blanch 12 or more ears of corn, depending on the size of the corn. Place the shucked corn into the boiling water and boil it for 7 minutes. Large ears of corn should be blanched for 10 minutes.

After blanching, the corn needs to be placed in ice water for the same amount of time it was in the boiling water. You can do this in your sink. I used a small ice chest. The water needs to be very cold. Add ice to the water, and continue adding ice as the ice melts. The hot corn will melt the ice quickly.

Preparing the Corn for the Freezer

Drain the cold water off of the corn. There are several ways you can prepare the corn cobs for the freezer. Some people just place them in freezer bags and put them in the freezer. If you are going to use this method, to avoid freezer burn you should wrap each cob in plastic wrap first and then place the cobs into a freezer bag. Remove as much air from the bag as possible. Some people use a drinking straw inserted into one corner of the top of the bag to suck out the extra air. I chose a seal-a-meal type vacuum sealer to prepare my corn for the freezer. This method removes the most air and really protects against freezer burn. You can also place these bags directly into the microwave or boiling water when you are ready to prepare the corn to eat.

When you are ready to eat the corn, you shouldn't cook it as long as you would fresh corn, because it is already partially cooked. Place the frozen corn in boiling water for three or four minutes or a couple of minutes in the microwave and it is ready to eat!

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.

He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.

He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target.

Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his Sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes'

But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen..'

Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?'

So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, 'I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.'

Sally just smiled and said, 'well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help?

She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer..

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you.'

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is....You need to know that:

appeared. She said, 'I'm Mother Nature! Do you know how long it took me

to make those buttercups? Just for doing what you have done, you won't

have any butter for your popcorn for the rest of your life: better

still, you won't have any butter for your toast for the rest of your

life. As a matter of fact, you'll never have any butter for anything the

rest of your life!'

Then POOF! She was gone!

After Dave recovered from the shock, he hollered for his friend, 'Fred,

where are you?'

Fred yells back 'I'm over here in the pussy willows.'

Dave shouts back, 'DON'T SWING, Fred

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T SWING!'Towards the end of the golf course, Dave hit his ball into the woods and
