Northampton Director Jim Mallinder has called on the squad to regain their recent momentum when they travel to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday for a vital Aviva Premiership clash with London Irish.

The Round 21 match has taken on plenty of significance, with both the Saints and Exiles both still very much in the hunt for a spot in the play-offs.

The Saints' five-match winning streak came to an end at Kingsholm on Tuesday and Mallinder said that it was important that the team got off to a good start in Reading.

"London Irish have come back into good form recently and it will be a tough game," the Saints boss commented.

"They have been playing well over the past few weeks, especially at home, and we know that we need to be fully focused right from the first whistle.

"We came literally within a couple of inches of getting something out of the game against Gloucester on Tuesday, and all of the players have been determined to go one better at the Madejski Stadium and regain the momentum which we had built up over the past month or so."

Meanwhile, London Irish have made two changes from the side that defeated Sale last Saturday.

Club captain, Clarke Dermody returns to the front row and is joined by South African Faan Rautenbach who will start at loosehead prop. Max Lahiff comes onto the bench.

"The whole squad knows what is at stake on Saturday and they will be going out there to put in a performance to be proud of in front of our loyal supporters," said London Irish head coach Toby Booth.

London Irish have made two personnel changes and two positional changes for Saturday's Aviva Premiership clash against Exeter Chiefs.

Delon Armitage makes his return along with hooker David Paice, who is back in the squad after recovering from injury. Alex Corbisiero also returns from his successful England debut in the Six Nations.

Delon Armitage comes in at full-back in place of Tom Homer who moves onto the wing. Daniel Bowden moves into the fly-half position from inside centre, with Elvis Seveali'i coming into the centres to join fellow Samoan, Seilala Mapusua.

"We have key personnel returning for the fixture and have prepared well leading into the game, so we are all geared up to come away from the fixture with a positive result," said London Irish Head Coach Toby Booth.

Meanwhile, Exeter Head Coach Rob Baxter is hoping his side can pick up from where they left off a fortnight ago.

Exeter's impressive 30-9 victory at home to Northampton Saints in their last league fixture ensured the Premiership newcomers finished their recent four-game block with three victories under their belt - their sole defeat coming against Westcountry rivals Bath in a tense encounter at Sandy Park.

That run of results, though, allowed Baxter's side to notch up a plethora of points and heading into this weekend's tussle, they find themselves just seven points adrift of fourth-placed Northampton and four off a potential Heineken Cup place.

Talk of Europe and final league placings, however, has been noted by those in and around Sandy Park, but the focus - as it has been all season - is simply on the next game. So, for the Chiefs that focus is their latest date with the Reading-based Exiles.

"We've avoided looking too far ahead so far. The nice thing is we're out of the relegation dogfight so we can look at the few teams above us," said Baxter.

Chiefs will be keen to demonstrate just how far they have come since the sides last met back in October. Irish are one of just three league sides to have triumphed in Devon this term and came away that day with a 12-9.

They have, however, struggled to hit top form since and a record of five wins from 19 games. The Chiefs, on the other hand, have flourished recently and Baxter has been left to bemoan slightly the recent two-week break.

"We would have liked to have kept on rolling through, but that's not how it works in the Premiership. You've got to get used to these experiences," said Baxter.

"We feel we were on quite good form before the break, so our challenge is to continue that form. I think London Irish would have liked to have been playing a bit better, so for them the break is a chance to re-ignite their season.

"We'll only know tomorrow if we've managed the last three weeks well. That's what you do in your first season in the Premiership: You learn from these things, and it may well be that what we've done in the last three weeks was good and we perform well, it may be that we have done a couple of things wrong."

Although victorious against the Saints, Baxter has opted to change his winning formula by making three changes for this latest encounter.

The sole change in the pack sees James Hanks return after injury in place of Chad Slade, who drops to the bench; whilst in the back division Jason Shoemark and Matt Jess are both recalled at the expense of Phil Dollman and Fijian powerhouse Nemani Nadolo.

Form: The two teams have met on three previous occasions in all competitions with London Irish victorious on each occasion. The last nine matches that London Irish have played have all been won by the home side on the day. The Exiles are unbeaten at Madejski Stadium since New Year's Day where they lost there to Bath in Aviva Premiership Rugby. Exeter Chiefs' only defeat in their last four Premiership matches was 9-12 at home to Bath on 26 February. The Chiefs have won twice away from home in the Premiership this season: at Saracens on 30 October and at Newcastle on 18 February.

Glasgow return to Firhill for the second time in a fortnight and will be looking to follow-up last weekend's win over Treviso with victory over play-off chasing Ulster on Friday.

The Warriors welcome international fly-half Ruaridh Jackson and flanker Richie Vernon back from the Scotland camp following the Six Nations. They also have winger DTH van der Merwe, who signed a new two-year-deal this week, back from a wrist injury.

In the backs, Van der Merwe and Jackson replace Hefin O'Hare and Duncan Weir respectively - both of whom drop to the bench.

In the forwards, Rob Harley moves up into the second row in place of Tom Ryder who is unavailable due to a thigh injury. As a result, James Eddie slots into the blindside role.

Ryan Wilson retains his place at openside whilst Vernon comes in for Johnnie Beattie.

"The players were delighted to get the win over Treviso," said head coach Sean Lineen.

"It was a very hard game against big physical men and to get that victory was really encouraging. The team spirit was strong and to score three tries was very good."

Although Ulster's Irish internationalists have been named among those available for selection this week, it is their overseas players that Lineen feels could have a bigger say in the match.

"There could be one or two guys back from the Ireland camp," he said.

"But the strength of the Ulster team is in their foreigners. Pedrie Wannenburg, Johann Muller and one certain Ruan Pienaar are phenomenal players. But we've just got to control what we can."

Meanwhile, Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin has continued his rotation policy, bringing in six new faces.

Irish players Tom Court and Paddy Wallace join Scotland international Simon Danielli in the starting line-up as they all return from Six Nations duty, while Rory Best takes a place on the bench.

Andrew Trimble picked up a slight quad injury playing for Ireland and is unavailable.

Paul Marshall is included at scrum-half after his cameo against the Dragons and Ruan Pienaar moves to the fly-half position as a result. Conor Gaston will make his second appearance on the wing after impressing on his debut last week.

Danielli will start at full-back which means Adam D'Arcy is named among the replacements and Wallace will play inside centre in place of Luke Marshall who misses the rest of the season.

Andi Kyriacou and Declan Fitzpatrick remain in the front row and are joined by Court. Dan Tuohy is promoted to the bench to partner captain Johann Muller in the second row.

The back row is reshuffled again with Pedrie Wannenburg named instead of Willie Faloon. Wannenburg is named at number eight, Robbie Diack moves to blindside flanker and Chris Henry is at openside.

Tommy Seymour is among the replacements again after his heroics last week but there is no place for fellow try-scorer Darren Cave.

The return of Ulster's international players is a timely boost as every point will count in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup quarter-final is just over two weeks away.

Ulster currently lie fourth in the Magners League so McLaughlin will be hoping for an improved performance this week to continue their challenge.

"If we want to make that semi-final spot in the Magners League then every game is a cup final and we have to perform in every game," said McLaughlin.

Form: Glasgow gained their first Magners League victory of 2011 at home to Treviso last Friday. The Warriors' solo defeat at Firhill in their last five matches all competitions was 15-26 to Cardiff Blues on February 11. Ulster have lost only one of their last eight games in all competitions: 22-23 at Ospreys on February 13. The Ulstermen have won just once in their last four trips to Scotland: 37-25 at Edinburgh on April 25. Ulster won 19-17 at Ravenhill when the two teams met on October 1, and have also been victorious on two of their last three visits to Firhill.

Cardiff Blues vs Munster Preview ::

The Blues welcome back their international contingent for Friday's clash with Magners League leaders Munster at Cardiff City Stadium.

Munster hold a nine-point lead at the top of the standings but have lost on their last five visits to Wales so it promises to be another hotly contested encounter.

"Munster will always focus the minds of our squad and with or without their international players Munster are always formidable," said Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby David Young.

"They are very physical, they do the basics really well and I think they have a squad that is as strong as anyone's in the League."

"That's why they are always at the top. There is competition for places in their team and that keeps everyone on their toes."

"They have a great tradition and fight for everything that goes with the shirt.

"The pressure is no different for us than it is for any other team in the top five or six."

"Everybody realises that all the games very important and can't afford to have a bad day.

"That is what I think the play-offs have added to the tournament.

"We will certainly have a buzz and enthusiasm around training over the new few weeks because each match is vital."

The Blues welcome back Lloyd Williams, who has recovered from a shoulder injury sustained against Exeter in November.

Cardiff's Six Nations players John Yapp, Leigh Halfpenny, Bradley Davies, Jamie Roberts and Dan Park all return to the 23 but the Blues are with without Sam Warburton. Warburton picked sustained a knee injury in the defeat to France last Saturday and is expected to be out for between four to six weeks.

T Rhys Thomas is also unavailable after picking up a hip injury that may require further investigation. While Tom James is also out with a minor foot injury, Gareth Williams is out with a minor calf injury and Faul Filise with an achilles injury.

Meanwhile scrum-half Conor Murray will lead the Munster back line.

Murray, who was handed his first start against the Dragons at the start of this month is partnered with Ronan O'Gara in a side that includes returning internationals, Keith Earls, Denis Leamy and Paul O'Connell.

In explaining what is undoubtedly a big call at nine, Tony McGahan said, "Conor has been a consistent member of the senior squad in training over the past twelve months because of International call ups and injuries to our half-back position.

"In this time he has gathered valuable training experiences from the more senior players in the squad which allowed him to play off the bench in last Six Nations window and start against the Dragons in our last Magners League game this year.

"He impressed the coaching staff and fellow players with a enthusiastic and mature display in his first professional start and deserves to be in the mix competing with Peter and Duncan for game time with Tomas's unfortunate bout of injuries."

All in all, McGahan makes ten changes to the starting XV from the one that played against the Dragons in Musgrave Park three weeks ago, one of those changes forced by Paul Warwick's return to Australia on family matters.

Elsewhere, the inclusion of Felix Jones at full-back means Johne Murphy switching to outside centre with Earls on the left wing in place of Simon Zebo.

Up front, it's all change in the front row with Wian du Preez, Damien Varley and Tony Buckley starting on this occasion, O'Connell comes in for Ian Nagle while the back row remains the same other than Niall Ronan, who returned from injury in the A game last week, replacing Donnacha Ryan who is named on the bench.

Form: Cardiff Blues' only defeat in their last six Magners League matches was 13-32 in Ulster on 25 February. The Blues most recent loss at Cardiff City Stadium in the Magners League was 15-37 to Ulster on 21 November. Munster have lost only one Magners League encounter since November: 18-19 in Treviso on 13 February. The Munstermen have lost on their last five visits to Wales in all competitions. International call-ups mean that Bryan Redpath makes four changes for Gloucester's LV= Cup semi-final against the Dragons on Sunday.

The resumption of the Six Nations sees Rory Lawson, Scott Lawson and Alasdair Strokosch named in the Scotland squad while Mike Tindall and Paul Doran-Jones remain with England.

As a result, the changes to the team to face the Dragons largely reflect those absences. Jordi Pasqualin is in for Lawson in the only change to the backs whereas the pack is reshuffled.

Olivier Azam replaces Scott Lawson at hooker and Rupert Harden starts at tight head in place of Doran-Jones. Finally, the fit again Alex Brown is back to partner Jim Hamilton in the second row.

"We've had injuries and people coming back and forward but that's the nature of this tournament and this time of the season. We've got to get on with it," said Redpath.

"The key thing is that we understand that it's a semi final. We've got to ignore the past nine weeks and what's gone on and now really focus on this.

"We've played the Dragons a few times over the past couple of seasons and won some and lost some. We have to get our heads around that.

"We underperformed down there on a rainy night in the group stages and can't afford to do that again. It's a big Anglo Welsh derby and our mindset is going to be the key thing."

Meanwhile, Dragons Acting Head Coach Darren Edwards is boosted by the return of lock Luke Charteris who captains the Men of Gwent.

The dangerous back three of Martyn Thomas, Will Harries and Aled Brew are all back having missed last weekend's away game against Munster, with Adam Hughes as cover on the bench.

Half-backs Jason Tovey and Wayne Evans both start, with Matthew Jones and Jonathan Evans in reserve, whilst centres Tom Riley and Pat Leach complete the backline.

Charteris is joined in the second row by Adam Jones, with Adam Brown on the bench. Lloyd Burns starts at hooker, with Steve Jones, who captained the Men of Gwent in Cork last weekend, as cover. England vs Scotland Preview ::

The penultimate leg of what would be a 2003-esque clean sweep has arrived for England in the shape of a Calcutta Cup clash with auld enemy Scotland.

If the hosts win on Saturday, it will subsequently set up a Grand Slam showdown in Dublin which was where they won their last seven years ago.

Will history be repeated once again in a World Cup year? It would be quite a fillip for a side that not long ago was synonymous with false dawns.

Credit must be laid at the door of the coaching staff for setting up such a clean sweep possibility. For so long Mike Ford and Brian Smith have found themselves in the firing line alongside Martin Johnson, but finally things are clicking for a team that to some is starting to look like the real deal.

Johnson rightly knows it would be stupid for England to believe the hype however. He has already warned his charges over the prospect of facing their wounded visitors while coach Andy Robinson would love nothing more than putting one over his past employers. Lawrence Dallaglio is however thinking more RWC 2015 than 2011.

Rugby's oldest rivalry has seen shocks in the past, granted not at Twickenham where the English haven't lost to Scotland since 1983 while they have only won twice in a remarkable 64 years at English rugby's HQ. The signs don't look good then for Robinson to claim his first championship victory this season. And if Italy do the unthinkable in Rome against Les Bleus, they could be looking at a wooden spoon - terrible preparation for New Zealand.

Some bookmakers have England at an anorexic 1/20 price while Scotland can be found at as much as 10/1 but is there really such a gulf between these two? Yes the English look more threatening in backplay while their visitors seem to have become somewhat over reliant on Max Evans. "I didn't think I'd be playing for Leicester, let alone England," he said, speaking to Press Association Sport.

"I have had back troubles twice now. I thought I was out of the woods but it crept up on me again. I just didn't see when it was going to get any better.

"Some days I'd feel really good and then a couple of hours later it would come back again.

"The worst point was probably going to bed at night hoping you'd wake up in the morning and it would be OK and then it wasn't.

"Things have turned around quite quickly. I had only played eight or nine games for Leicester and I found myself in the England squad."

An England squad who, with a Calcutta Cup triumph on Sunday, can make all the pain suffered in their own revival worthwhile and create some deja vu at Lansdowne Road.

Ones to watch:

For England : He may have this week announced that there is now a James Haskell app on itunes (the brand continues to grow) but it is worth saying the flanker's form is now back up to where it should be. Another strong ball-carrying performance here and his World Cup case will continue to strengthen.

For Scotland : Joe Ansbro's performance against France on his last outing in a Scotland jersey was one to take your hat off to. Dynamic and direct, Northampton's youngster has now pretty much made the international number thirteen jersey his own and rightly so. His personal battle with Mike Tindall will be interesting and if he can get Scotland going forward, maybe just maybe the bookies will be paying out more than they thought north of the border.

Head-to-head : Two very different full-backs could have a major say in matters at Twickenham on Sunday. Ben Foden will attack the defensive line alongside Chris Ashton while the Scots will want the dead-eyed goal-kicking of Chris Paterson to play its own part.

Super Rugby 2011 Season

Super Rugby is the largest rugby union competition in the southern hemisphere. After starting as the Super 10, then Super 12 and later growing into the Super 14 competition, it then expanded to 15 teams for the 2011 season and has been reframed as Super Rugby, with no number included. It consists of teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The competition was started in 1996, and from the first season through to 2005, the competition was known as Super 12; the name was changed to Super 14 following the addition of two teams for the 2006 season. In 2011, the competition expanded to 15 teams, and the name was changed to 'Super Rugby'. Matches are now broadcast in 41 countries.

2011 Super Rugby season

The 2011 Super Rugby season will kick off in February 2011 with pre-season matches held from mid-January. It will finish in early July to allow players a recovery period for the 2011 Rugby World Cup to be held in September and October; in future non-World Cup years, the competition will extend into August. The 2011 season will be the first season of the expanded Super Rugby format, also introducing the Melbourne Rebels from Australia after entry by the Southern Kings from South Africa were denied. The Southern Kings, could however replace one of South Africa's previous teams, the Lions could be the unlucky team as they ended up bottom of the log in the last Super 14 season. The schedule, which covers 21 weeks, will feature a total of 125 matches. Starting with three groups of five teams, these groups will be the Australian Conference, New Zealand Conference and the South African Conference. With the new format, the regular season will consist of two types of matches :

Internal Conference Matches - Each team will play the other four teams in the same conference twice, home and away. (See table below for conferences)
Cross Conference Matches - Each team will play four teams of the other two conferences away, and four teams of the other two conferences home, thus missing out on two teams (one from each of the other conferences).
