The Fourth Wall Theatre Network is run by 19 year old Dan. It is ‘a theatre company in a box’ that hopes to work with schools to create the foundations for their own self-sustaining theatre business. The objectives are to improve confidence, to develop leadership and business skills and to nurture creative flare whilst improving levels of drama within schools, so Live gave Dan a cash award to help the business take off! However the most important thing for Dan is to be accessible and affordable so that whether young people have a love of drama, business or just want to make new friends, the Fourth Wall Theatre Company is there for them.

Chris Hampton is 19 and started Autism Don’t Panic in summer 2011. After being diagnosed in the first year of secondary school, Chris wanted to help other young people who might be feeling isolated because of Autism, and to promote better understanding of Autism and the Autistic Spectrum, so Live gave him an award to help.

It began with www.autismdontpanic.co.uk which contains useful information and advice as well as explanations of various conditions including Autism, Aspergers, Tourettes, ADD, OCD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. The website is an invaluable tool for friends, family, teachers, or anyone affected by these conditions. Chris has now extended his project to include a social group for parents and children with conditions on the Autistic Spectrum, offering them a place to meet other people and get support.

In September 2011 Chris was shortlisted for a UK Youth Hearing Unheard Voices Award for the Most Youth-led Initiative. Chris attended the Awards at St. James’s Palace, along with Princess Anne, Nigel Mansell and Sway DaSafo and he won!

Dawid began Kickboxing Club when he was 17. He has always been a keen sportsman and he wanted more young people to have the opportunity to try kickboxing, to learn how to protect themselves and to help prevent bullying and crime. He also wanted young people to learn how to solve problems without using strength. Dawid’s created a fun and friendly atmosphere where children, young people and adults are all welcome to train. Dawid used his Award from Live UnLtd to buy equipment for the club and to hire a space to carry out the training sessions. The club’s motto is “Never Back Down”.

• Closing date – 23 January 2012

• Short listing announced – 3 February 2012

Application Surgery

An open surgery to answer queries on proposed projects and the application process is available on 9th January and 16th January from 9am until 11.30am (via phone – call Ashley Whittley on 07545933823).

Enfuse Youth, a London-based social enterprise, is launching its first campaign entitled ‘Enfuse London’ this month that aims at changing lives of young people lacking the advice and resources that will equip them to make right career choices.

The organisation, founded by young entrepreneur Andre Campbell, will be visiting a number of London based schools taking part in the scheme and inspire young people into turning their career ideas into reality. Successful young entrepreneurs and intrepreneurs will be storytelling on how they turned their enthusiasm into dream career during specifically designed workshops that will impart career guidance, personal development and employability skills to over 1,500 young Londoners in five months.

Workshops will as well present an opportunity for young people to receive up to £5,000 of funding for enterprising projects, courtesy of Live UnLtd, and a range of banking support provided by Barclays.

‘Live UnLtd are supporting Enfuse London because we think it is really important that young people are inspired to realise their potential, particularly given the current youth employment market. Young people have the opportunity and ability to take control of their own futures and we see social enterprise as a great route to achieve this.’ Abby Kegg, Partnerships Manager, Live UnLtd.

London schools and colleges are encouraged to sign up for the free workshops and find out more information: www.enfuseyouth.com/enfuselondon

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London has also shown his support: “In times of economic hardship, entry to the job market is daunting and challenging. That’s why it’s crucial that programmes such as Enfuse London provide guidance for young people to get a foot in the door and ultimately find the job of their dreams. Through encouragement, motivation and inspiration, this scheme will change the lives of young people across London – I’m delighted to give it my full support.”
