type="text">12 Simple Rules to Help You Live Longer

The purpose of this blog is to help everyone live up to more than 100 years old, so when I saw an article from Lifehacker on how to live forever, that's really a few levels higher than what I've got here.

A summary would be that if you live by 12 simple rules, you might just live longer (not forever though).

1) No Smoking (huge health risk)
2) No Heavy Drinking (huge health risk)
3) Have Sex (yeah...)
4) No Snacking (not that much at least)
5) Exercise (it's like sports, the more you do, the easier and better you feel)
6) Sleep a lot (you'll wake up feeling great)
7) Regular Flow of Waste (get the waste out of your body regularly)
8) Feel Gratitude (you'll feel alot happier)
9) Mental Exercises (train your brain)
10) Avoid Hospitals (it's easier to catch diseases at such places)
11) Cleanliness (and you'll smell much better too)
12) Avoid Accidents (wear your seatbelts, wait for the green man)

Movie coming soon. I failed the casting though.

If you got 20 mins, hope over and read the full article here: http://lifehacker.com/#!5781482/how-to-live-forever

The Importance of Sleep

Everybody needs to sleep. This is a fact that cannot be contested. Sleep slows the body down, putting every major component of the body into a more relaxed state. This is also acknowledged as a medical fact. People dream while they're asleep and, in theory, animals may also experience dream-like scenarios. Despite the fact that most people can't remember them, this too can be confirmed medically. However, aside from all of the above listed effects (and side effects), what exactly does sleeping do for a person? That is slightly less certainly known, which is probably the reason so many institutions and research programs are delving deep into the scientific facts behind sleep.

The natural growth hormones that the body needs to develop are produced in large quantities during sleep. This has often been seen as the explanation for why people who don't sleep too much often end up being slightly shorter than their peers. These hormones are produced at their peak during puberty and tend to cease production afterwards. People are still unsure why the body produces more of it during sleep. There are some that theorize that this is merely a part of the side effects of sleep, of sorts, arguing that the body is too busy coordinating itself to really produce growth hormones. However, this assumption is rather arguable because the body is still coordinating the same systems during sleeping hours as it is during the waking hours.

AD: Sleep Therapy Program

According to recent studies, sleep may have appreciable effects on lifespan and well-being. People who experience extreme bouts of sleep deprivation eventually suffer a degenerative state of physical health, with prolonged lack of sleep becoming lethal. It is still uncertain exactly why this is the case, though the fact that this can happen is not being disputed. Research shows that people who have been deprived of sleep for long periods of time physically wither away. According to some findings, the mind is also heavily affected, with anxiety and depression being potential effects of over-extended waking hours. This is often attributed to the disruption of the usual production and flow of the central nervous system's biochemical agents, which regulate mood and emotional stability, among other things.

The nervous system suffers from sleep deprivation as well, according to some recent findings. People who do not sleep regularly tend to have unstable moods and poor reflexes. In most cases, alertness and environmental awareness tend to be compromised, often to the point that even simple tasks can require more concentration than normal to perform properly. The part of the brain that controls reflex and motor functions is not the only part that suffers, as the areas that are believed to govern actions during social situations are also known to be compromised. Currently, there is no certainty as to just what happens during sleep that causes this, but there are several theories.

There are other sleep-related theories being tested, such as what biological purpose dreams serve, but they are considered less of a concern. Some findings even point to the possibility that the natural state of the human body (and, indeed, any animal body) is to be asleep, rather than awake. It is rather surprising that sleep, something that is so integral and critical to preserving human health, is so little understood by medical science.

AD: Sleep Therapy Program

Makeup Tips for Asian Women

Learn how to tackle issues like sallow skin and single eyelids. Plus, other top makeup advice and techniques that flatter Asian features.

1. Asian skintone
Most Asians have a yellow skin undertone, so pick a yellow-based foundation and powder instead of pink-based ones.

If you're lucky enough to have a good complexion, you can choose to skip the foundation. For those who have spots and blemishes, use a good creamy yellow-based concealer with lots of coverage and opacity. Dab concealer on top of the blemish and blend with your finger, then set by dusting a little loose powder all over.

2. Asian lashes
Asian lashes tend to be short and poker-straight. Lash curlers are great for opening up the eyes, but if you love a longer-lasting fuller curl, try using a heated lash curler.

Add definition to your eyelashes with two coats of mascara -- black is the color that complements Asians' black or dark-brown irises. Lengthening mascaras contain micro-fibers to extend lash tips and create the illusion of longer lashes, while thickening mascaras help to volumize if you have thin or sparse lashes. Look for a mascara that comes with a thin brush applicator to reach the entire lash length for a full coat.

3. Asian eyes
Often, Asian eyes lack a crease in the upper eyelid (i.e. single eyelid), or they seem to disappear when the eyes are open. Asian eyelids are also somewhat heavier, making the eyes look tired and puffy.

Add definition with a generous stroke of eyeliner for definition, or try a black eyeshadow for a smoky smudged effect -- this sooty look especially flatters eyes without creases. Apply with a small angled brush, staying close to the lashline.

To disguise puffy lids, blend in brown or apricot matte shadow over the upper lid, sweeping all the way up and out of the outer corner. Blend highlight along the brow bone and along the rim of the inner corner to add dimension.

4. Asian cheekbones
Most Asians have naturally high cheekbones. For a youthful flush, accentuate your cheeks with a blush shade like rose or soft berry that will lift the yellow undertone.

Apply blush with a blush brush and sweep using crescent strokes just below the apples of your cheeks. To locate your cheek apples, just smile -- they're the part of your cheeks that pop out.

For a more dramatic look, apply highlighter to the top of your cheekbones to play up your bone structure.

10 Feng Shui Tips for a Better Life

Ever walked into a house that felt like home? Ever reminisced about the best year of your life, and wondered why everything came together for you? It could be Feng Shui.

Simply put, Feng Shui is about creating a harmonious environment. It’s the ancient Chinese Science and Art of placement, intended to improve our health, harmony, longevity, career and wealth.

Pronounced, “Fung Shway”, it was a jealously guarded secret for thousands of years. Now, the benefits of Feng Shui can be enjoyed by anyone. In fact, Feng Shui is a part of everyday life for many Australian businesses, home owners, decorators, and architects.

June from June Turner Designs and Lifestyles has been an expert Feng Shui practitioner for 13 years. “Feng Shui can be simple or involved – whatever you’re comfortable with. Decorate a room or buy a home that is perfect for your family.”

The key is energy (or Qi “Chee”). June offers ten quick tips that can improve the flow, transformation, and containment of Qi in your life:

1) Remove shoes before entering a home. Don’t take your problems in with you.

2) Cook at least one meal a day and eat at the table as a family.

3) Never have knives on show – even in a block.

4) Always sit or stand facing the door (or its reflection).

5) Keep the toilet lid down and bathroom and laundry doors closed.

6) Don't sleep under white blankets or doonas.

7) Don't sleep with your feet facing the bedroom door.

8) Don't sleep next to the wall that has the metre box on it.

9) If your front door is in line with a tree or the door of the house opposite, place a Ba Gua mirror above the outside of the door.

10) Never have a Ba Gua mirror in the house. They are far too powerful.

It’s no coincidence that some of these tips are just common sense. You’ve probably been practising Feng Shui for years without even knowing it!

According to June, “this is just the tip of the iceberg. Just a few little changes can make the world of difference. But most solutions are specific to the individual.”

From: Raymond Woo - Author of "26 Secrets from the Orient...Feng Shui"

Pearl Drops Whitening Toothpaste

My girlfriend has been suggesting products and methods on looking better in general. One of the products I've started using is whitening toothpaste and not just any brand, but Pearl Drops. My girl has done her research and Pearl Drops is kinda like the best teeth whitening solution available.

Claims to make teeth white in 13 weeks. Well, I need that if you see the picture on the right, my teeth is kinda stained and yellow. I've just begun the routine for a few days, so far teeth looks really shiny but isn't that white yet. Mouth feels very fresh even hours after brushing, it's like having a mint in the mouth all the time.

Pearl Drops has got a long history. Check out the old school advertisement below. I'll be posting photos of my new teeth 3 months later. =)

Other Men Grooming tips: The Ultimate Grooming Guide For Men

Food for Good Looks

You can slather yourself from your forehead to your pinkie toe in organic lotions, but if you think that alone will make you glow, we have some bad news. From its well documented health benefits to its undeniable impact on physical beauty, good nutrition is the pillar of every kind of healthy lifestyle. That doesn't mean you need to swear off bacon and beer or anything. The trick is finding the right balance.

But with new studies coming out every month about what we should put in our mouths—not to mention the unending discovery of mysterious superfruits from deep in the forests of wherever—it can be hard to keep track of what, exactly, we should be eating. To simplify things, here's a can't-go-wrong shopping list. Bon appétit!

1. Tomatoes. Organic tomatoes are loaded with lycopene, a powerful antioxidant shown to help fight illnesses of all stripes. They're also loaded with vitamins C and A, and if you believe Dr. Oz, they could be as good or better than açai and goji, those trendy, expensive antioxidants you couldn’t stop hearing about for a few years.

2. Green tea. In a nutshell, people who drink green tea have about a dozen health advantages over people who do not—from cancer prevention to longevity to gentler skin aging—thanks to its antioxidant polyphenols. Organic green tea is preferable (nothing undoes positive health effects like a load of pesticides) and can be found in bulk for cheap at large grocery stores.

3. Broccoli. This is the item on the list you'd be best off learning to love if you don't already, because its nutrition profile beats out all other veggies according to a Harvard University study. It has well-documented anti-inflammatory effects, which can help with everything from eye health and arthritis to heart disease and sun damage. Eat it a couple of nights a week if you can. A favorite simple recipe is broccoli steamed with olive oil, salt, and garlic.

4. Salmon. You obviously want to be careful about sourcing when it comes to any fish choice—check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium's new recommendations for salmon—but the short version is, wild Alaskan is a good bet. Salmon is loaded with anti-inflammatory omega 3s, healthy fats, and vitamin B12. Bonus side effect: Glowing skin.

5. Extra virgin olive oil. It’s gotta be EV: Eat it for heart-disease prevention, cancer prevention, its cholesterol-lowering good fats, its antioxidants, and because it’s completely and utterly delicious and frankly, a good olive oil tastes better than butter.

6. Dark leafy greens.Yes, they can be bitter and less than exciting at first, but they are loaded with vitamins and iron and can be snuck into meals easily (omelets, pasta, salads, etc.). Prepared the same way as the broccoli suggestion takes five minutes and is super tasty with eggs for breakfast.

7. Walnuts. These shelled suckers are packed with good fats (the monounsaturated kind), which is great for heart health, lowering cholesterol, boosting brain function, and reducing inflammation. You don't need many of these to reap the benefits, though. Go easy.

8. Blueberries. What gives these guys a leg up on other fruit is the fact that they're super low in calories and very high in vitamin C, fiber, vitamin E, and other brain-boosting nutrients. A Tufts University study found that when they evaluated 60 other fruits and veggies for their antioxidant capability, the blues came out on top.

9. Dark chocolate. You should eat this because it’s delicious, and because a recent study also showed its capacity to protect skin from UV damage. The claims that its packed with antioxidants have been recently called into question, but for now? Might as well go for it.

10. Avocados. Based on the patterns of nature, a Feng shui master will tell us where to place every individual object in our home or workplace. A master will also provide advice on how a building should be positioned on a property. Feng Shui shows us how to support the flow of energy in our lives for better health and prosperity.

The best location for a bedroom, according to Feng Shui is in the rear of the home. This is where it is said that all "restful" energy lies. In order to preserve this energy the bedroom should have only one door connecting it to the rest of the house. It is best that the bedroom is not located over a garage. If it is, to preserve a restful sleep, one must use heavy solid objects on the floor or hang a mirror on the garage ceiling so that it will reflect the image of the car away from the bedroom. If a kitchen is located over the bedroom, place a mirror on the ceiling of the bedroom reflecting downward, sealing off the bustling activities occurring in the kitchen.

There should always be a door connecting the bedroom and the bathroom, and the door should always be kept closed. Feng Shui recommends not having a television in the bedroom as it causes less interactions between couples. If one is present, it should be covered when not in use. A work station in the bedroom is also discouraged as is exercise equipments because these release opposite energies than that of restful energy.

Mirrors in a bedroom can be a problem as they are said to reflect one's negative energy when one is sleeping, thereby causing nightmares. This principle applies to any object that reflects like paintings, computer screens or metal surfaces.

Feng Shui recommends that a person sleep with legs facing away from the door because such a position is referred to as the "coffin" position. Colors in the bedroom should be subtle, as should the colors of bedroom furniture. Clean up clutter in the bedroom including closets for good energy.

Bedrooms are rooms to go to for peace and relaxation. To distract negative energy Feng Shui encourages a good circulation of natural energy and plenty of fresh air.

From: Raymond Woo - Author of "26 Secrets from the Orient...Feng Shui"

Feng Shui Tips For Your Home Office

Did you know that over 50% of women now run their own home business or work from home? Get your compass out and find the following directions because we are going to try and make things run a little smoother for you using the ancient art of object placement - Feng Shui.

The most ideal locations to situate a home office, in order of best to second, third ad fourth best are the North (the Career Sector), the Southwest (the Wealth sector), the Northeast (Skills and Talents sector) or the South (the fame and recognition sector.) If possible try to locate your home office in one of those locations.

Here are some other general tips that are thought to bring prosperity to your business.

Always sit with a solid wall behind your back to ensure that you have support in your life. Never sit with a window behind you.

In the office always place the fax machine, telephone, and computers in the southeast wealth sector, as this will attract more contacts.

Position your desk to have a clear view of the door. If this isn't possible, hang a small mirror so you can easily view the door's reflection.

Don't put a shelf over your desk. This symbolizes burdens the world crashing down on you at any moment. The heavy shelf also symbolizes burdens and difficulties.

Avoid having sharp accessories, such as a paper cutter blade or the corner of a Xerox machine pointed at your desk. It is shar chi that symbolizes the cutting knife-edge or a disapproving finger pointing at you.

Make sure that you can walk completely around your desk in a full circle. This makes sure colleagues or workload does not cramp you. You should have space to breathe!

Do not have clutter in your office. Desktops must be kept tidy and clutter free. Avoid placing In and Out trays on your desk. Try to keep what is in use on your desktop.

If you own a NCR or cash till try and place that in your southeastern wealth corner as well.

Avoid placing cactuses in your office as the needles of these plants are thought to create negative shar chi. Shar or sha chi is stagnant or harmful energy.

In your office, never have the main door opening into your desk as this causes you to be faced with unexpected situations to deal with. Never have a door jamming against your desk, or your prosperity will always be blocked.

Do not place your desk in a room so that it is between two doors because this causes chi to rush by and pass you by along with all of your good fortune. In other words the good energy walks in one door, right past you and out the back door!

Never set your desk at the top of a staircase as chi will roll down the stairs and cause you loss of opportunity and wealth. If this is unavoidable, place a mirror above the front door looking in and facing the staircase.

If people entering your business immediately face a wall and a long corridor try placing a hanging crystal in this area to allow good chi to accumulate. Also place mirrors here to direct the chi into your office.

Do not place large electric equipment, such as photocopy machine or microwave near to the main door. These are considered to be "hot" items that cause energy to dissipate. Heat causes the dispersal of good chi.

Do not place paper cutter or fax machines or any machine with a blade next to the front door. The "cutting" energy can cause staff and customers to be unpleasant and even possibly to back stab and fight each with other.

Do not place an empty vase next to the main door, as empty vessels suck good chi trying to enter your place of business. If you have a vase make sure it is full of flowers!

If you have candles in your office, light the wicks to make sure they are burnt, even if you don't plan to light the candle. An unlit candle is bad feng shui as it represents the limitations of possibility.

Place a fish tank or fishpond in the southwestern corner of your office. If this is not possible consider building a Koi pond in the southwestern sector outside your building.

To enhance your wealth and prosperity, position your indoor water feature in the southeast element of your home or office. For career luck, place it in the north. A tabletop fountain made of bamboo or flat round stones is always good for this purpose.

If you have a company signboard or logo it should be optimally placed in the southeastern area, the Southern area or the northern area of your home office.

May wind and water shower you with many blessings!

From: Raymond Woo - Author of "26 Secrets from the Orient...Feng Shui"

Lack of Sleep Increases Weight

Looking to lose a little weight? If they include words such as hydrogenated or trans fats, or colour additives with numbers (such as blue #1, yellow #5), you might want to reconsider the purchase. Studies have shown artificial additives can increase hyperactivity and lower attention spans in children.

B for Breastfeeding

Breastmilk has a balanced mix of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, is gut-friendly, and contains heart-healthy fats and immunity boosters.

C for Colour

As a general guide, the deeper the hue, the better it is for you. A prime example is, blueberries, which have powerful antioxidants that keep growing brains healthy. Involve kids by asking them to identify as many colours as they can in their food.

D for Discovery

Let kids learn where food comes from and how it is made or grown. An excursion to a farm can be very enriching. Explain why you have chosen particular foods over others at the supermarket.

E for Egg

It's a "protein-rich wonderfood in a shell", describes Natalie Savona, author of Wonderfoods For Kids. The dense protein provides the necessary building blocks for growth and development. It also has Vitamin K, which helps blood clotting and bone formation.

F for Fish

Fish such as salmon, halibut and cod contain omega-3 fatty acids which help maintain brain and cardiovascular health. Omega-3 fatty acid is also said to improve behaviour in children. Purdue University researchers found that boys with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder had lower levels of omega-3 fats, especially DHA, which is mainly found in fish.

G for Graze

Apart from main meals, let your child nibble on nutritious snacks throughout the day. Grazing regulates their blood sugar as they get a steady supply of energy from frequent small meals.

H for Hummus

This Middle Eastern dish, which is low in fat and high in fibre, has Vitamins B1 and B6, folate, iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, maganese and selenium. Make your own chickpea and tahini (a sesame seed paste) dip and serve with pita bread. Add diced cucumbers or celery for a healthy crunch.

I for Immunity

Your immune system protects you from infection and allergens, if you feed it right. Antioxidants and proteins aside, introduce kids to spices. Ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and chilli add flavour and are said to help fight infection.

J for Junk the junk!

Junk food is one of the key culprits of obesity in children. More worryingly, too much of it can lead to less stable DNA and faulty cell reproduction. Your child may be more vulnerable to serious illnesses in later childhood and adulthood.

K for Kiwi

Weight for weight, this fuzzy-skinned fruit packs more Vitamin C than an orange. It also has antioxidant phytonutrients such as flavonoids and carotenoids which protect against free radicals.

L for Lentils

Lentils are a good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber. This tiny nutritional giant also boasts six important minerals, two B-vitamins and protein.

M for Milk

In addition to yielding vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that keep children healthy, milk is important for building and maintaining strong bones. The Academy of Pediatrics advises low-fat milk for children older than two years. Toddlers under two years should be breastfed, or drink whole or formula milk.

N for Nuts

They're nutrient-dense - full of healthy fats, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Pack a homemade trail mix of nuts and dried fruit for the older ones to take to school. Younger ones can enjoy almond or cashew butter, or even tahini, spread thinly on toast. But if your family has a history of nut allergy, wait till your child is at least two years old before giving him peanut butter.

O for Organic

While there is no concrete evidence to prove organic food is healthier than its non-organic peers, it is grown and processed without artificial fertilisers and pesticides.

P for Phytonutrients.

Phytos, for short, are immune-boosting substances found only in fruits and vegetables. They prevent wear and tear on organs and help the body to repair itself. They also give fruits and vegetables their vibrant colours which kids are naturally attracted to. So, let your child choose his own phytos by asking him to select a rainbow to eat.

Q for Quinoa

Pronounced "keen-wah", it is a collective term for the grain-like seeds of the leafy plant. Quinoa is rich in gluten-free protein and packed with B vitamins, iron, magnesium and manganese. You can prepare it the same way you cook rice, in a rice cooker. An article by Karen Railey, author of How To Improve Fading Memory And Thinking Skills With Nutrition, states that quinoa is 12 to 18 per cent protein.

R for Raisins

Health, or junk, food? The jury's not out yet but these shrivelled grapes are low in fat and cholesterol, and are a good source of fibre, iron and potassium. Recently, raisins were found to contain phytochemicals which inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth.

S for Spinach

Popeye loves it for a reason. A dose of spinach offers fibre, Vitamins C and E, calcium, folate, as well as the antioxidant lutein, which boosts retinal health. It is also high in iron, which aids growth and muscle development. Spinach is easily disguised for kids: Blend baby spinach, celery, carrots and tomatoes into a homemade pasta sauce.

T for Tryptophan

This amino acid can be converted to serotonin (the "happy hormone"), which is linked to good moods and sleep. Tryptophan is found in chicken, turkey, red meat, tuna, shellfish, dairy products, nuts, seeds, bananas, soybeans and soy products.

U for Unsaturated Fat

Most unsaturated fats come from plant and fish sources. These fats are a good source of essential fatty acids and help kids' bodies grow and develop. The best unsaturated fats are found in olive oil, peanut oil, canola oil, albacore tuna, and salmon.

V for Vitamins

They're good for the body but children, especially finicky eaters, may not always get the vitamins from the foods they eat. Many parents give their children a daily multivitamin as an added nutritional precaution.

W for Water

If your child isn't taking to water, try packaging it with an attractive cup, decorative straw, maybe an ice cube, or even a lemon twist. Keeping a child well-hydrated improves their appetite.

X for eXposure

Expose your kids to a variety of foods. Fussy eaters may suddenly develop appetites for different foods and eat more. My toddler, for instance, prefers couscous to rice because the smaller grains are easier for him to chew and swallow.

Y for Yoghurt

High in protein and calcium, easier to digest than milk, yoghurt has live bacterial cultures that keep intestines healthy, aid digestion, and offer a boost to the immune system. Buy low-, or non-fat variants. You can also blend it into smoothies, make dips from it, or stir it into soups and sauces.

Z for getting proper Zzz's

What kids eat can affect how they sleep. In her book The Good Sleep Guide For Kids, author Sammy Margo suggests Tryptophan-rich foods such as bananas, cheddar cheese, cabbage, spinach, oats, wheat, eggs and soya products to help kids sleep better.

Significance of Colors in Feng Shui Practice

Have you ever wondered what feelings do you have when you look at bright red rose in the garden? Can you imagine if a garden that does not have colorful flowers but only the green foliage? Early in the morning when you see a newly opened flower in your garden, your heart is filled with joy and happiness. Each flower in the garden has a different color and hue that affects you differently. While the white lily touches your soul for its serenity, the red rose with its vibrant energy elicits a feeling of love and passion. The feeling is different because the flower is reflecting a different color and Feng Shui uses this natural magic of colors to transform your life.

A rose is red because it reflects red color and Feng Shui makes use of this reflected energy to create a balance between yin and yang energies that suits your personality or your environment.

You may be aware of two types of energies (yin and yang) that the colors in Feng Shui represent. You can think of yin energy as like a plant growing from the earth. It comes from the soil, raising itself upward and moving toward the sky. As yin energy moves up to the sky it becomes diffused and dissipated. Yin energies have an element of dreaminess about them and the colors like blue, white, green and purple according to Feng Shui are believed to have yin energies.

If your home office is full of creative and dream-inducing objects or colors, Feng Shui may ask you to get rid of them (at least some of them) and introduce in their place more vibrant colors that will help you get in the right spirit to do some work and be enthusiastic.

Every association you have with a color contributes in some way to how you are. That is why colors play a meaningful role within the practice of Feng Shui. It is very essential for you to understand why toning down or playing up certain Feng Shui colors in your home will help you to achieve the goals you have set for yourself in your life.

The guiding principle in using Feng Shui Colors should be to achieve balance rather than excess. Whether you are planning the color scheme of your home, office, garden or personal appearance, the following characteristics of the colors in Feng Shui practice will give you an insight into how they can be used in Feng Shui design.

Yin Colors & Feng Shui

Yin colors according to Feng Shui are the colors which bring about healing and relaxation. The relation between colors and Feng Shui can be better understood by taking the example of some colors as given below.

Blue: Blue color according to Feng Shui has yin energy and it is calm and soothing. This color has great significance in Feng Shui as it reflects love as it heals and relaxes. Blue creates a feeling of peace and trust. Since it is the color of the sea and sky, Feng Shui associates it with adventure and exploration. Navy blue it the color of intellect and wisdom.

Black: Black color in Feng Shui symbolizes money and income, black is great for careers, especially when combined with metal. It is the Feng Shui color of emotional protection and power.

Purple: Purple, the color which lies at the end of the spectrum, has a great significance in spiritual Feng Shui. The color is excellent for physical and mental healing and Feng Shui associates it with spiritual awareness.

White: The color in Feng Shui represents poise, confidence and purity. Because of its yin energy, Feng Shui uses this color mostly in combination with gold or silver to generate an atmosphere The other yin colors of Feng Shui are pink and green which also have their individual properties that are used in Feng Shui practice.

Yang colors and Feng Shui

Yellow: Yellow color in Feng Shui is considered to be as auspicious as red. Yellow represents sunbeams, warmth, motion, cheerfulness and friendliness. However, according to a noted color Feng Shui consultant, prolonged exposure to large amounts of intense yellow can cause anxiety.

Orange: With a lot of yang energy the orange color has great significance for spiritual Feng Shui practice as it strengthens your concentration. Relationship falling apart? Maybe its those upside down dried flowers in you have hanging in your hallway, (oh so chic in Martha Stewart Land but the kiss of the death in Feng Shui circles.) Or maybe its the antique full length mirror in your bedroom ...

Feng Shui (pronounced Feng Shway) is the ancient Chinese art of rearranging design elements so that they harmonize with your enviroment. Several systems are used to determine what should go where to enhance the love life, but the one that applies to anyone reading this is the Pa Kua system. In Pa Kua, the southwest corner is the love sector of your home.

First of all get a compass, and find out what exactly is in the Southwest corner of your building. Is there a bedroom there? Good. A toilet there? Bad. It means your romantic prospects are getting flushed away. Is your Southwest corner a badly lit storeroom full of clutter? Also bad. It means your love-life will be as messy as well. In fact, no matter what room that corner is located in, it now becomes your job to enhance it as best as you can, by getting rid of clutter and using decor. You are also going to rehaul the southwest corner of your bedroom to double your chances of attracting romance.

What's in southwest corner of your bedroom? A closet? Bad. A vase full of beautiful flowers? Good. That will greatly enhance your chances of attracting a suitable partner.

To attract a partner, Feng Shui experts recommend putting a painting of peonies, or a vase of the flowers there. You could substitute any flower for the peony (as long as its not prickly like a cactus), but whatever you do make sure the flowers are fresh. The Chinese hate dead or dried flowers and would prefer that you have those rather than any kind of decay in a spot

that signifies your love life. Also lucky for romance, is a pair of wooden ducks or a painting of two ducks (as ducks mate for life) If you don't like how formal these ducks look, you can always do what I did and put two rubber ducks in your southwest corner.

Mirrors on the ceiling, especially full-lenght ones, or mirrors on the walls in the bedroom are a big no no, as they symbolize portals through which an interfering third party's energy can enter...Feng Shui masters don't like to invite voyeurism.

If you don't like Chinese decor, you could use my favourite westernized Feng Shui tool -- the Lava Lamp. Pink glowing goo moving up and down in your romance corner is sure to send out a sensuous vibe. Pictures or statues of loving couples or love friendly Goddesses such as Venus and Aphrodite would also help activate the love sector. As the southwest corner is symbolized by the earth element, it is also helpful to place crystals there, with the most suitable choice being rose quartz. If you want to go all out, you might want to also consider painting that corner or adjacent walls a bright red, also to symbolize passion. Whatever you do, don't go overboard...you could end up with a bedroom that looks like a Chinese brothel, or worse yet, invite somebody over who is familiar with Feng Shui who might go ³Hmmmm...I see ducks, flowers, crystals, red walls ...I better get out of here! This person is just a tad too desperate for me!

From: Raymond Woo - Author of "26 Secrets from the Orient...Feng Shui"

Asparagus to Cure Cancer?

Emailed article attributed to a biochemist offers medical case histories collected with the help of alleged cancer expert 'Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S.' purporting to prove that eating asparagus may prevent and/or cure cancer.

Description: Email flier
Circulating since: 2008
Status: Unsubstantiated

Email example contributed by Elizabeth, Feb. 24, 2009:

Asparagus

Several years ago, I had a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer. He gave me a photocopied copy of an article, entitled, `Asparagus for cancer' printed in Cancer News Journal, December 1979. I will share it here, just as it was shared with me:

"I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health for over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked with him on his project, and we have accumulated a number of favorable case histories. Here are a few examples.

Case No. 1, man with an almost hopeless case of Hodgkin's disease (cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated. Within 1 year of starting the asparagus therapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a schedule of strenuous exercise.

Case No. 2, a successful businessman 68 years old who suffered from cancer of the bladder for 16 years. After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he went on asparagus. Within 3 months, examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and that his kidneys were normal.

Case No. 3, a man who had lung cancer. On March 5th 1971 he was put on the operating table where they found lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable. The surgeon sewed him up and declared his case hopeless. On April 5th he heard about the asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it. By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared. He is back at his regular business routine.

Case No. 4, a woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin cancer. She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by a skin specialist as advanced. Within 3 months after starting on asparagus, her skin specialist said that her skin looked fine and no more skin lesions. This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney disease which started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus.

I was not surprised at this result, as `The elements of materia medica', edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones. We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy.

For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore canned asparagus is just as good as fresh. I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives. Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree, and store in the refrigerator. Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening. Patients usually show some improvement in from 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink. This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases.

As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent'. Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals. We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold. For years we have made it a practice to have blood surveys taken as part of our regular checkups.

The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink. As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer.

Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and in acting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance. The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good." It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body's most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants.

Comments: Exactly who Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. is, and what his qualifications as a cancer and nutrition expert are, we do not know, for the simple reason that his name doesn't appear anywhere in print except in connection with this one online article.

The periodical in which it was allegedly published, the Cancer News Journal, no longer exists but apparently devoted itself to "alternative" cancer therapies. An article with the identical title ("Asparagus for Cancer") and similar if not identical content appeared under the byline "Karl Lutz" in the February 1974 edition of Prevention magazine.

In any case, contrary to the impression given above there are no peer-reviewed medical studies proving that eating asparagus alone "prevents" or "cures" cancer. That's not to say asparagus offers no cancer-fighting benefits whatsoever — there's a good chance it does, given that it contains vitamin D, folic acid, and the antioxidant glutathione, all thought to play some role in lowering risk factors for certain cancers. By all means, eat your asparagus!

The thing is, lots of other foods provide the same nutritional benefits and more besides, so emphasizing one particular vegetable over all the other health-promoting foods available is surely counter-productive. Generally speaking, medical experts recommend a diet high in fiber, fruits and vegetables and low in fats and nitrates for optimal resistance to cancer.

At the risk of stating the obvious, it should also be noted that dietary measures ought never to be regarded as a substitute for proper medical diagnosis and treatment of any disease, especially cancer.

8 Ways to Control Stress

Simple modifications in posture, habits, thought, and behavior often go a long way toward reducing feelings of stress and tension. Here are 8 quick and simple things you can do immediately to help keep your stress level under control.

1. Control Your Anger:
Watch for the next instance in which you find yourself becoming annoyed or angry at something trivial or unimportant, then practice letting go - make a conscious choice not to become angry or upset. Do not allow yourself to waste thought and energy where it isn't deserved. Effective anger management is a tried-and-true stress reducer.

2. Breathe:
Breathe slowly and deeply. Before reacting to the next stressful occurrence, take three deep breaths and release them slowly. If you have a few minutes, try out breathing exercises such as meditation or guided imagery.

3. Slow Down:
Whenever you feel overwhelmed by stress, practice speaking more slowly than usual. You'll find that you think more clearly and react more reasonably to stressful situations. Stressed people tend to speak fast and breathlessly; by slowing down your speech you'll also appear less anxious and more in control of any situation.

4. Complete One Simple To Do:
Jump start an effective time management strategy. Choose one simple thing you have been putting off (e.g. returning a phone call, making a doctor's appointment) and do it immediately. Just taking care of one nagging responsibility can be energizing and can improve your attitude.

5. Get Some Fresh Air:
Get outdoors for a brief break. Our grandparents were right about the healing power of fresh air. Don't be deterred by foul weather or a full schedule. Even five minutes on a balcony or terrace can be rejuvenating.

6. Avoid Hunger and Dehydration:
Drink plenty of water and eat small, nutritious snacks. Hunger and dehydration, even before you're aware of them, can provoke aggressiveness and exacerbate feelings of anxiety and stress.

7. Do a Quick Posture Check:
Hold your head and shoulders upright and avoid stooping or slumping. Bad posture can lead to muscle tension, pain, and increased stress.

8. Recharge at the Day’s End:
Plan something rewarding for the end of your stressful day, even if only a relaxing bath or half an hour with a good book. Put aside work, housekeeping or family concerns for a brief period before bedtime and allow yourself to fully relax. Don't spend this time planning tomorrow's schedule or doing chores you didn't get around to during the day. Remember that you need time to recharge and energize yourself - you'll be much better prepared to face another stressful day.

Modern Day Top 10 Most Popular Kama Sutra Positions

What is the Kama Sutra about?

Not entirely about sex, "Kama Sutra" was a book written by the Hindu sage Vatsyayana sometime between the first and sixth century A.D. in India. This book depicts the three aims of life as virtue (dharma), prosperity (artha) and love (kama). To assure survival and attain the aims of life, three kinds of activity required; one of which is human reproduction, the importance of which is not something to be taken lightly. Thus, the ultimate erotic guidebook was born: The Kama Sutra (kama meaning 'love' and sutra meaning 'manual').

Whilst everyone in the world has different cultures and beliefs, one thing remains constant, SEX. That's why eventually many people only think of the Kama Sutra as a guide to sexual positions.

What are the most popular positions in our modern day?

Sponsor - *500 Love Making Tips*

Modern Day Top 10 Most Popular Kama Sutra Positions

10) Doggie
With both of you on your knees and her back arched, you can achieve super deep penetration as well as having hands free for the reach around and a little breast and clitoris caressing. Or if you want to rough things up grab a handful of her mane and reign her in to your needs.

Tip for guys: most ladies love the doggie.

9) Reverse Cowgirl
Facing away from and astride you leaves you open to kick back and enjoy the sight of a prime behind giving you a knowing wink as she rodeos you like the Wild West. And with her hands free to caress her clit and nipples for heightened climax, all you need do is lie there and enjoy the ride while she has the time of her life. And you can't say better than that.

Tip for guys: good for filming.

8) The Plough
On her back with legs resting on your shoulders and your arms tucked behind, this is a real fifty-fifty position needing the full attention of you both. As such, and coupled with that added depth on offer, The Plough is intense, exciting and sweat-inducing in equal measure as you, quite literally, spread the love.

Tip for guys: works great to penetrate deeper, especially for the lesser endowed.

7) Side Saddle Cowgirl
Probably the best bedroom bouncer around, it also offers great profile views of your lady as she gets into her rhythm. Sitting sideways astride you, all you can do is lie back and watch while your girl indulges in the ride of her life. So good you'll want to be ridden forever, but careful you don't get too carried away - being saddle sore is a nasty thing.

Tip for guys: lie back and relax

6) Stand and Deliver
As intimate and personal as sex gets, your girl literally stands while you deliver with the added bonus of plenty of snogging, staring into each others' eyes and the opportunity to get to grips with her bum and its infinite delights. The natural pressure this position exerts on her clitoris should also have her climaxing in record time, ensuring you are indeed the man.

Tip for guys: best if your girl is of similar height

5) Raised Missionary
With back arched and all her weight on her heels and shoulders, you're in perfect position to take total control and dominate her. It also leaves your hands to feel, fondle and fornicate the majesty of her breasts in complete freedom. Excellent.

Tip for guys: keep up some eye contact with your girl

4) Deep Dish
With the missus on her back, legs akimbo and her ankles firmly in your grasp, the view is nothing short of spectacular. And with gravity on your side you're in total control to vary speed, rhythm, penetration and thus the quality of your performance and both your orgasms.

Tip for guys: Tease her for hours and make her come like crazy

3) Lazy Doggie
She lies down, you lie on top of her and the magic happens. All women love this position, as it's apparently sensuous and slow and makes your man meat feel like an elephant's leg with a pumpkin atop.

Tip for guys: try some figure of eight hip action for guaranteed ultra-deep penetration

2) Reverse Spoon
Lying head to toe and side by side offers immediate benefits in the staring at and fondling her nether department.

Tip for guys: remember to wash your feet first

1)The Butterfly
Lie back, admire one of, if not the, greatest views you'll ever behold (depending on the quality of your squeeze) and think of England while she does all the hard work, just as it should be. And thanks to the deep penetration The Butterfly affords, you can both expect mind-melting orgasms aplenty.

Tip for guys: for the ultimately lazy guy and the ultimate viewing pleasure

Sponsor - *500 Love Making Tips*

Health Benefits of Pumpkins

Pumpkin is perfect when you want a healthy treat and an excellent source of
beta-carotene. Belonging to the squash family, pumpkins have an understated taste that lends itself well to a variety of dishes. Besides, pumpkins make a great fat substitute in baking.

Health Benefits

The distinctive bright orange color of pumpkin clearly indicates that it's an excellent source of that all-important antioxidant beta-carotene. Research shows that people who eat a diet rich in beta-carotene are less likely to develop certain cancers than those who fail to include beta-carotene-rich foods in their diet. Pumpkin also has another carotenoid, beta-cryptoxanthin, which may decrease the risk of lung cancer in smokers.

<table border="1" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" style="height: 366px; Is this true?

A: Your heart only good for so many beats, that's it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart will not make you live long; like saying you can extend life of car by driving fast. Want to live long? Take nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You no grasp logistical efficiencies. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. What are these? Vegetables. So steak is efficient mechanism for delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). Pork chop give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No! Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, which is to take water out of fruity bit and get more goodness that way. Beer made of grain, too. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, you have a body and you have fat, ratio is one to one. You have two bodies, ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU NO LISTEN!!! Foods are fried in vegetable oil. Soaked in it. How can more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise, muscle gets bigger. Only do sit-ups if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: You crazy? Cocoa beans! Vegetable!!! Best good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming good for figure, explain to me whales.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember: 'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

AND…

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Originally, Pilates called it Contrology where a complete coordination of mind, body and spirit is achieved.

The Pilates method consists of a repertoire of over 500 exercises to be done on either a mat or one of the many pieces of equipment invented by Joseph Pilates. The four main Pilates equipment are the Reformer, the Cadillac, the Barrel and the Wunda Chair. Since then, there have been many innovation of Pilates equipment but all strictly following the Pilates principles. Among them are the Malibu Pilates Chair, the Pilates Balls, the Resistance Workout Bar, the Toning Tube and the Pilates Ring.

Pilates exercises are usually done in a series of organized levels from beginning, intermediate to advanced. The exercises develop strong abdominal, arms, legs, back, bottom and deep postural muscles to support the skeletal system or the "powerhouse" of the body. The Pilates method is also an excellent rehabilitation system for back, knee, hip, shoulder and stress injuries. Pilates exercises are widely used as prenatal exercise for pregnant mothers.

The 6 core principles behind the Pilates method are:

- Concentration
- Control
- Centering
- Breathing
- Precision
- Flowing Movements

Concentration focuses on aligning the body with the mind to create the mind-body connection. Your mind will be relaxed as it is solely concentrating on your body movements. Control places emphasis on controlling your movements which will enable each exercise to be executed properly.

Centering is the powerhouse of the body and Pilates exercises advocate developing a stable powerhouse before moving on to arms and legs movements. The correct Breathing techniques are important to cleanse the blood stream and energize the body. Joseph Pilates believed that each exercise must be done in precision otherwise the results will not be achieved. The final principle, Flowing Movements, states that each Pilates exercise is done in a fluid manner in order to uniformly develop the muscles and give the body a long and lean look.

Laughter - The No Cost Wonder Drug

I know, the last thing you think about, or even want when you're seeing the abyss on the horizon or even hanging on by your fingernails as you're slowly descending into the depths of hell, is - hmm...I could use a good laugh right now. "I haven't got time for that nonsense" or "can't you see I'm in pain here" might be the reaction to "hey, let's chuckle it up".

But for those who truly want to conquer their state of affairs, re-design a situation or experience a fresh tolerance for their circumstances, then laughter is one healthy, well-documented doorway to achieving success in tackling your troubles or winning over your woes.

When doom is looming - take a break a have a laugh.
When darkness is descending - call a comic friend.
When gloom is gathering - check out the funny pages.
When the abyss is beckoning - turn on the boob tube or YouTube, unbuckle your pants and let 'er rip.

Laughter is a major instrument in the toolbox of "personal mastery". And it needs to be used, honed and cared for in order to keep it working well and serving you to the max. So when happenstance happens, take out your laughter tool and let it works its charm.

In taking a break from your stress you can count on the fact that your troubles will be waiting for you when you've finished laughing it up - much like dirty dishes do. But if you're feeling lighter from laughter, your troubles may present a solution or illuminate a different perspective. If you're feeling happy, you might even "Whistle While You Work" and get those dishes done.

Laughter isn't the answer to your troubles, but it is the suave that soothes a troubled soul and a place of rejuvenation. It gives you a break from the tribulations of life. Its one of the many gifts we humans have. It costs nothing yet pays tremendous dividends - like unattended guilt, its the gift that keeps on giving.

Here's What I Do
When I'm dealing with one of the chronic crises in my life, I take a break and turn to my YouTube favourites and chuckle away. My perspective changes and I'm better able to problem solve (or whatever the situation calls for). Sometimes I even watch the Sham Wow/Slap Chop guy commercials - but hey, it works just me. Here's some other amusing tricks I use to get myself guffawing and knee slapping like a speeding bullet.

Laughing Babies - Who doesn't at least smile at babies giggling away? And before you know it you're chuckling yourself. There are some amazing examples on YouTube. Grab a cuppa java on a rainy Saturday morning, explore it and be ready to chortle, titter and LOL the AM away.

George Carlin, Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Robin Williams, Joan Rivers & More - These Kings/Queens of Comedy are brilliant at their craft and they make you think too. Once again YouTube has a plethora of material to choose from.

1. YouTube is a fabulous place to create a "favourites" folder so you can turn to it in a flash.
2. Get to know the comedians in your life - observe how they view and respond to the world.
3. Take an improve class at Second City.
4. Create some funny shtick for a family or friends gathering.
5. Join or observe a comedy troupe for a holiday from life.

Remember we are what we focus on. So in times of stress, challenge or pain, take frequent breaks, buckle up the chuckle belt and take a ride on the highway of laughter.

How to Deal With Low Sex Drive in a Marriage

When one person in a relationship, be it the woman or the man, suffers from a low sex drive the effects are actually most difficult on the recipient partner. Frequently he or she is resigned to a feeling of frustration or even rejection and starts to rely more and more on masturbation and self pleasure - or even finding another partner in extreme cases.

It's a serious problem as often the resentment felt from this situation will spill into other area's of the marriage and if the problem develops into something acute it can even be the central cause for the marriage to end. Sometimes we don't realize just how important sexual fulfillment is in our relationship until it disappears.

It's completely normal for couples to have different levels of sex drive and a compromise in this area of a relationship is normal however if the levels vary by a great deal then it's a problem which must be looked at and addressed. Exactly how you go about treating the problem will depend to a large extent on identifying its cause in the first place.

One common cause of a low sex drive is depression. Real depression will almost certainly have an effect on your sex drive and in the case of women it can be caused by a number of different factors such as a hysterectomy for example. In instances of depression it's best to address that particular problem first and by default a persons sex drive will often return to normal as a consequence.

Childbirth can also hide the surprising side effect of producing a low sex drive. Sometimes it's easy to become totally enamored with a new born baby, along with the exhaustion that goes with looking after it, and experience a massive loss in sex drive. You will need to acknowledge this with your partner and work together to bring things back to normal, it's very important as your husband could soon find himself feeling unappreciated and having his needs ignored.

Lastly we must look at Menopause which can cause all kinds of side effects due to the massive hormonal activity which occurs at this time. In all cases remember that sex in a marriage is never just 'your problem' or 'my problem' you must at all times view it as 'our problem' and solve it as a team.
