Dmx Follow spots

The question is, i’ve not been impressed with moving light follow spot technology that I’ve seen in the past as far as smoothness of motion etc. Is there a good body pack tracking system out there? to say turn a mac 2k into an automatic follow spot?

So, Apple finally unveiled its long-anticipated iPad (http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/27/apple.tablet/).

Steve Jobs says, “It’s the best browsing experience you’ve ever had.” Some even say it will save the publishing industry, as it will provide a more user-friendly interface, closer to reading a newspaper or magazine than a traditional browser. What do you think?

Hey all,

What reference books, manuals, etc do you find useful in the preparation and execution of your design? Has anyone found a good reference as to engineering the playback system?

Some of the resources I have found are:

1) Staging The Screen: the use of film and video in theatre” by Greg Giesekam
This book goes into the history and some of the conceptual stuff about projections.

2) http://www.da-lite.com/education/
This website has a lot of good info to help with understanding the technical elements of
projectors and screens.

I am an undergrad theatre production student and want to make media design, a.k.a projections, my concentration area. I was wondering what type of representations you use in production meetings? Do you use storyboards, sketches, etc.?
