I love when new ideas come to the El Paso area and Dish Crawl promises to be something new and fun. El Paso has some serious food talent locally and this event offers the ability for people to experience these culinary treasures. The first event is going to focus around the downtown area. Tickets are already sold out, according to the site but I will let you know if there are more available. Here is to great food in El Paso!

National start-up guides El Paso food lovers through four restaurants in one night

El Paso, TX – May 13, 2013 – Dishcrawl, a national start-up founded on the premise that communities can be brought together through good food and good company, is expanding to El Paso this June! Locals and tourists can experience El Paso by tasting gourmet selections at four distinctive restaurants in one night.

Dishcrawl will be jumping on board with the revitalization of Downtown El Paso on Wednesday June 12^th from 7-9:30pm. Bring a date, come as a group, or just bring yourself, Dishcrawls are perfect for “date night” or just a great way to meet new people. Reservations can be purchased at Downtown El Paso.

“Dishcrawl has the potential to create a well rounded experience throughout El Paso” with so many talented artists and musicians performing around the city, “creating a modern dining experience to compliment the entertainment scene can help build a stronger community,” says El Paso Dishcrawl Coordinator Christopher Diaz.

Participating restaurants are kept secret until two days before the event, at which time the first location is revealed to ticket holders.

I have a lot to cover over the next few days….baseball stadium….new park downtown (I would like to see at least) …new hotel development near the airport….the state of our city….El Paso dish crawl (you wanna hear more about this)….t shirts that are envorionmentally friendly and comfortable to boot out here in ELP…EP City Forums…so much more…and I will get to it all over the coming days!

We didn’t make the top 50 for this list either…BBQ

I know that we are isolated out here in far West Texas and most of the time, editors of magazines aren’t going to make the trip to even see what we have to offer…sad. Well, Texas Monthly just put out there top 50 BBQ restaurants in Texas and El Paso didn’t register one eatery…nor did Waco (which has some good joints in my opinion) The closest place that made the list is Pody’s in Pecos.

So where does this leave El Paso? We have a few BBQ joints….not a lot, but a few. We have State Line (also known as county line in all other Texas cities), Rudy’s, Smitty Pit BBQ, and Tony’s the Pit BBQ. There used to be a great place off Montana past Airway that closed down…believe it was called Longhorn BBQ….they had a great Brisket burrito.

I’ve been to all the places mentioned above and I gotta say…The Pit is my favorite…is it top 50 worthy? Not sure, but you can make the decision for yourself. Here are websites/directions for BBQ joints in El Paso….leave a comment if I left one out. Forgot that Famous Daves is here as well…but that is super commercial in my mind…even though I do enjoy it for a quick meal.

I’m glad somebody caught this on tape. Here is NWS’s definition for a gustnado: A slang term for a short-lived, ground-based, shallow, vortex that develops on a gust front associated with either thunderstorms or showers.

I was going to give a restaurant review…then I got sick

Yep….I had the picture, words, and what I thought was a happy stomach. Then came a few hours later on Sunday….and I was visiting the bathroom every hour on the hour till this morning…bad food!

So I’m sorry cheap Sunday morning buffet that I thought would be good because all of your other food usually tastes good…but you got me sick and now I have nothing nice to say about you…I want to throw you onto the street.

At least Chicago has buffets that don’t get me sick.

This poll is for those who commute from ELP to LC or LC to ELP. The drive has gotten better with the addition of a third lane from exit 0 to LC city limits but it is still a drive for those commuting both ways. If TX & NM had a partnership to get something like this installed, would you use it?

It’s important for our region to be as well connected as possible.

El Paso has been down for a while, some thought for the long haul….the good news is that we are fighting back. The city has taken a turn for the better over the last couple of years and positive changes are happening. My manager showed us a Nolan Cheese commercial today as a motivational tool and since it spoke so well to me, I wanted to share it with all of you in relation to El Paso.
