Hace poco comencé un nuevo trabajo, y esto fue lo que me puse para ese primer día. Las que viven en Buenos Aires lo saben, pero las que están afuera no: andar en esta ciudad con tacones es casi imposible, torturas tus pies con todo lo que caminas (igual luego de tantear mi lugar de trabajo me di cuenta que voy a poder usar tacos de vez en cuando). Así que quise ir arreglada y ponerme estos zapatos nuevos puntiagudos comprados en Uruguay, pero..taran!!! los zapatos eran tan malos que el día que los estrené perdieron el color azul en varias partes. Así que niñas no todo lo barato es maravilloso, aprendí la lección jajaja.

Igual me encantó usarlos con un pantalón del mismo color, y no quise añadirle más color, digamos que me fui sobria, o esto es sobrio para como me visto yo. Segura que muchas también han sufrido cuando estrenan unos zapatos, creo que el truco está en no estrenarlos un día importante.

I recently started a new job, and this is what i wore for that day, the first mistake i made, was to wear this brand new pointy flats the very first day of work, why? because most of the time when you wear new shoes the chances are you are not quite acquainted to them so they end up hurting your feet. Not only that happened to me, but also the flats were so cheap the color started to peel off by the time we hit noon. So lesson learned ladies! Not everything on sale is wonderful! hahaha.

Still i loved wearing them with matching pants, and i choose not to add any more color, it was enough with that one only - it's a sober look or at least for me - i bet some of you have gone thru the same when you wear shoes for the first time, the trick is not to wear them on a huge day.

Hay ropa que quisiera tener para siempre, y por para siempre quiero decir tener 88 años y seguir usandola. Es el caso de este vestido, lo compré en el 2008 en Zara de Bogotá cuando me enamoré perdidamente del detalle de la espalda, y lo he usado tanto (son 4 años ya), que me parece que ha llegado la hora de despedirnos, y no porque quiera, sino porque ya se ve viejito y no puedo usarlo para ocasiones especiales como siempre hacía. No será lo mismo sin ti, vestido.

Uruguay

Uruguay tiene su encanto. Cuando llegamos Montevideo no me pareció tan linda pero a medida que la iba conociendo me fue gustando más, luego fuimos un día a Punta del Este y me terminé de enamorar. Quiero volver más días y caminar mejor la ciudad, pero fue un viaje corto y no pude recorrerlo todo, igual lo disfruté bastante, tenía un año y medio sin irme de vacaciones y estos 3 días se sintieron como 1 mes :). Ahora a volver a la ciudad y a empezar nuevos proyectos, que se vienen varios ;)

Uruguay is a charming country. When we arrived to Montevideo i have to say the city felt a little disappointing but as soon as i went to downtown i liked it a whole lot more. I wish i would have stayed a little longer but still those 4 days where enough to feel brand new again in this city and get back on track
With new projects this year, some of them starting very soon ;)

La semana pasada fuimos a la expo (una vez más) de Carlos Cruz Diez, para los que no lo conocen es un artista venezolano que encaminó sus trabajos al color y todo lo que se puede lograr con él, y es considerado uno de los genios del opt art. En fin, en este post quise mostrar lo que tenía puesto pero es más lindo mostrar una parte de su trabajo, y aunque no se podían tomar fotos en algunos lugares, con estas fotos espero que tengan una idea de lo increíble que esta exposición.

En cuanto al look lo que tengo de flores es un body, pero debajo de él me puse una franelilla negra porque no quería enseñar arriba y abajo, ah! y se me olvidaba decirles - no tiene nada que ver con lo que llevaba puesto - que esta semana estaré de viaje, así que sino publico es por eso, pero trataré de postear fotos así sea de instagram, besos!

Last week i went to the Carlos Cruz Diez exposition here in Buenos Aires; for those who aren't familiarized with his work he's a Venezuelan opt artist, that always had a fixation for color. Right now his work is being shown at the MALBA, so i decided to combined both fashion and art with these pictures, so that you can see what an amazing artist he is. As for the clothes, i'm wearing a body and underneath a tank top, because i didn't want to show too much...and before i forget! i'm out of town this week so maybe i'll rest a little from the blog, or maybe i'll post some pictures from instagram, Muak!

Regalos parte II

Esta es la segunda parte de los regalos de Navidad/Cumpleaños, que no había publicado porque estaba esperando las Lita que al fin las tengo! después de luchar contra tarjetas de crédito, cupos Cadivi (que sólo los venezolanos entendemos de esto), shippings extraviados, compras fallidas las pude tener gracias a mi novio (me las regaló él) y gracias a mi amiga Martha (me las trajo). Entre mi mamá y Andresito me regalaron los parlantes del ipod, y dos amigos que me conocen muy bien me regalaron la Nylon, la cadena Claire's que es una máquina de escribir, y la Vogue Italia de Septiembre con Stella Tenant, que para mi es una relíquia con esa portada tributo a Ethel Granger.(la cintura más pequeña del mundo).

A las que puedan tener unas Jeffrey Campbell, hagan la inversión, porque los zapatos son comodísimos!, y no se cree por la plataforma, pero si pude caminar 4 cuadras larguísimas y salir ilesa, las puedo usar para todos lados. - Sí, soy fashion blogger cliché que tiene las JC, pero pienso usarlas toda la vida - mentira no aguanté la tentación las quería mucho!

This is the final part of the xmas gifts, i finally got my Litas! they're dreamy! i know most bloggers aren't even wearing them, but i wanted them so bad! so after having credit card problems, got them lost in the mail, sites with the shoes out of stock on my size, i got them as a birthday present from my bf, and my lovely friend Martha brought them to me. Also i got a set of speakers for my ipod and 2 of my best friends got me a Nylon mag, a necklace with a typewriter pendant, and the September Issue of Italian Vogue with Stella Tennant making a tribute to the smallest waist Ethel Granger. I love everything i got!

And if you're hesitating about getting the Jeffrey Campbell's i say go for it! they're super comfy even though they're really tall! But if i walked 4 blocks and came out harmless those are good shoes. I know, i'm a fashion blogger cliché by getting the shoes, but i planned to wear them for life who am i kidding i wanted them so bad!

Esto es lo que me puse para mi cumpleaños, pocas veces me visto de negro (y puedo usar tacones), pero tenía ganas de vestirme toda de negro y añadirme color - porque toda de negro no me queda bien a mí - en los accesorios. La camisa fue un regalo de cumpleaños de mi amiga Pollis, es mi nuevo básico, y me puse licras debajo porque era un día caluroso, y si no uso nada abajo puede pasar un Britney-Paris-Lindsay de andar enseñando cosas extras por ahí jajaja. El peinado fue copiado de Rodarte Spring 2011, y me puse este collarcito de Barrio chino / Bazares que me encanta.

This is what i wore for my birthday - yeah happy birthday to me woohoo - i went for black and heels. I hardly ever wear any of those so i decided to try them on my day, of course, i added some colors on the accessories because a total black look doesn't look good on my skin. The shirt was a b-day gift from my friend Pollis, is my new fave basic, and i wore it with this track shorts because i didn't want to show my privates á la Britney-Lindsay-Paris hahaha. The necklace is from China town, and my hair is copied (not gonna say inspired cause it wasn't) from Rodarte Spring 2011, the easiest hairdo!

¿Saben cuantas fotos me tomé este día? 872937492987829743279, y al final seleccioné estas 3. Pero creo que 3 a 5 fotos son suficientes para ver los detalles de un look, porque estos blogs de estilo personal deberían ser de lo que vistes y de tu forma única de llevar la ropa no? veo un poco como muchos se han convertido en una competencia de quién tiene la cara más linda, dejando en segundo plano lo que llevas y de cómo lo usaste, y los respeto, pero no quiero que el mío se convierta en eso (además mi cara no da para un blog de belleza jaja).

Así que como ando exigente conmigo misma, decidí no incluir las fotos que para mí eran mediamente buenas y dejé estas: la camisa, es parte de una compra masiva de ropa usada que hice hace poco, estoy optando por comprarme cosas nuevas en unicolores (que me duren más y sean más combinables) y los estampados comprarlos en ropa usada o en descuentos, porque al final me aburro rápido y los uso muy esporadicamente (no puedo decir esporadicamente sin pensar en "not sporadically" de Clueless). Los lentes son de mis amigos de Vulk, que este año me malcriaron y me regalaron desde lentes hasta Vino y Gift cards de Roho, y el collarcito fue un regalo de cumpleaños de mi amigo Sergio que lo amo porque es una mini máquina de escribir. ¡Me extendí! el que haya leído hasta aquí lo felicito y lo quiero porque en verdad sigue a pleno mi blog jajaja.

Do you know how many pics i took this day for this outfit post? 98238327943792, and only 3 made the final cut; i think this is what it takes to see a look don't you think? i feel like a lot of blogs out there are turning into a competition to see who's prettier than whom rather than showing the personal style side of it (which is the main point of these blogs), and that's fine for those girls, but i don't want to turn my blog into a look-how-beautiful-i-am-blog (plus, i'm not the pretty type of blogger). I wanna show how cool is to look good combining thrift clothes, mixing patterns, and how much fun fashion is. That's my goal, and i focusing on that. So i chose these pictures, where you can see what I'm wearing: my new thrift shirt, from a massive second hand shopping i made a couple of weeks ago, and the sunglasses are from Vulk, the brand that supported me throughout the 2011 and pampered me with gifts. Now i'm into buying prints at vintage fairs and solid color pieces at my regular shopping stores, because once you get bored with the print you only use it sporadically -i can't say this word without thinking about Tai saying "i hope not sporadically" on Clueless - So it's best to spend a little more on reusable basics than spend it on trendy things. En Navidad nadie revisa blogs, pero yo igual seguiré posteando algunas cositas, y que mejor momento que hoy lunes para mostrarles mis regalos de Navidad este año, que tengo que agradecer porque amé todo lo que me dieron! - y eso es bastante difícil porque soy muy necia- todavía me faltaron algunos regalitos por incluir pero vamos a llamar a este post la parte uno y cuando busque mi segundo regalo - todo un cuento esto - hago la segunda parte de los regalos. Les cuento que es cada cosa:

Ahora que tengo instagram (por el ipod) el blog estará actualizado más de lo normal con cosas que vaya viendo, ropa que me vaya probando en tiendas, salidas nocturnas donde no me quiera llevar la cámara, lo que sea! creo que no me emocionaba tanto con un regalo desde que era chiquita (de paso fue sorpresa), y a ustedes ¿qué les regalaron? (en serio quiero averiguarles la vida y ver que les regalaron así que espero comentarios)

Después que me vestí me dí cuenta que este look es muy Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen no? fue sin intención, me provocó usar todo suelto, y salió así. He tratado de mostrarles esta franela de Guns and roses con looks muy distintos, y con esta falda me pareció que todo encajaba bien porque si no se usa con ropa adecuada puedo terminar viéndome como una evangélica (sin ofender a nadie pero bueno se visten con faldas largas jajaja). Le agregué 78682734678236482 pulseras porque tengo mis días de estar al natural (como en el último post) y hay días que me provoca estar recargada, y este fue uno de esos de más es más.

After i got dressed this day i realized i looked like a Mary Kate and Ashley photo op, and i didn't mean to! i felt like wearing all loose and this is what it turned out, i like it! i've tried to show you this guns and roses tee worn in a variety of bottom pieces, like shorts, skirts, and now a maxi skirt, that i thought looked very comfy and pretty altogether without looking like a church lady (no offense to the church gals hahaha). I added 6238648723648 bracelets, sometimes i like to wear lots of accesories, and it's like a rollercoaster, one day i wear nothing but my skin (like on the last post) and sometimes i like to be accesorized to the fullest.

Me gusta comprar cosas atemporales, ropa que no caiga en lo clásico pero que sepa que me lo puedo poner dentro de 5 años y va a verse actual aquí o allá(y a conservarse igual, por eso no me gusta comprar mucho algodón), y esta camisa es una de esos casos. Es de Zara de hace más de 3 años, y todavía es una de mis prendas favoritas. Salvo por el cuello que si no me estiro bien la camisa pasa todo el día cayendose del hombro, amo su confección. Y usualmente no me pongo accesorios cuando la uso porque me parece que el cuello sólo no necesita mas adornos.

I like to buy timeless clothes, and i don't mean classic or basic pieces, i mean pieces of garments that i can wear right now or 5 years from now and still find it current (that's why i'm not into buying clothing that's 100% cotton) and this top is of those always wearable things. I got it in Zara about 3 years ago, and it's still intact. It would only be perfect if the straps didn't keep falling off my shoulders, but aside of that, i love they way it's done, the neckline it's perfect, every time i wear it, i try to keep everything else simpler because that detail makes a statement for itself.

Me acuerdo que hace 10 años odiaba como se veían el negro y el marrón juntos, ¡me parecía horrible! pero creo que tuvo que ver también la fiebre en Venezuela (y me imagino que en varias partes del mundo también) de usar carteras con el monograma de Fendi en marrón y negro que me parecían espantosas. Y hoy me encanta usarlo, pero tal vez producto de ese aborrecimiento, no me gusta llevar sólo esos dos colores, siempre tiene que haber un tercer color para que me guste el look (odio decir look, pero es mejor que outfit); y esta vez ese color fue el verde.

La combinación de todo también me gustó mucho, aunque da más otoñal, este tipo de ropa puesto de esta manera (shorts sin medias, top sin sueter) sólo lo puedo llevar en esta época, y como la idea es salirse de los cánones de siempre, por qué no usarlos en verano ;)

I remember 10 years ago i hated how black and brown looked together, i thought it was tacky! but maybe it had something to do with the trend back then of wearing Fendi monogram purses, which i loathed but now, i really love how those two look together, always adding a third color of course (i thing i got a trauma from those bags), and this time it was green.

I really liked the combination of textures too, is not like i planned it but it turned out really pretty, and if you think about it, this would usually go better in autumn, but if everything goes right now in terms of colors, anything goes for textures too ;).

Varias de ustedes me han preguntado por aquí o por facebook qué productos uso para cuidarme el cabello, y como no puedo hacerles un tutorial desde el baño (jaja), les enseño las 3 cosas que uso:

1- Shampoo Pantene Brillo extremo: tiene un olor muy rico y me ha caído super bien.
2. Tratamiento capilar TRESemmé hidratación profunda para cabello seco/dañado: la uso una vez a la semana y es un baño de crema que si tienes el pelo desgastado o teñido tienes que colocarte de estas cosas para que no se partan las puntas.
3. Peine Clinique de cerdas separadas: Si eres de pelo ondulado como yo, un peine de cerdas gruesas es lo mejor porque te mantiene los rulos unidos y no te crea mucho frizz.
4. Secador Philips: Hace poco me hice el alisado y la maravilla de esto es que con un secador con poca potencia puedes lograr el mismo efecto que con uno profesional,(aunque una amiga me acaba de regalar uno pro y no hay comparación con lo rápido que te lo puedes secar).

Mi pelo no es espectacular, de hecho ya me sale cortarme las puntas, pero trato de que se vea arreglado con estas cosas y me parece que funcionan. Espero que les sirva, ¡besos!

Hay días que me gusta vestirme así imaginando que trabajo en una revista de moda, a veces es divertido imaginarse todo el panorama no? que vas al trabajo ideal con la gente y la ropa ideal, y la verdad es que no todo es perfecto, mi trabajo no es en moda, pero hay que verle el lado positivo: no puedo desear mejores compañeras de trabajo, mi oficina está ubicada en una zona linda de Buenos Aires y lo mejor de todo, tengo trabajo. Algún día trabajaré en moda, pero por ahora, estoy feliz con lo que tengo.

Sometimes i like to get all dressed up like this to go to work imagining I'm working for a fashion magazine, because for most bloggers that's our main goal right? and you picture the whole thing as if it was perfect, the stylish people, the office of our dreams and so on. But the truth is not everything is perfect, my work is far from being related to fashion, but i don't dwell about it, i try to see the positive things about it: it's well-located, i couldn't ask for better co workers, and most importantly: i work. Someday i'll have my job in fashion, for now, i'm happy with what i have.

Este vestido/camisón sería perfecto si fuese un poquito más largo para usarlo sin nada abajo, o más corto para que no tape lo que tengo abajo y no parezca que ando desnuda por la calle; pero es super cómodo y cuando lo compré fue amor a primera vista, lo ví y me vinieron a la mente Coachella y esos looks que sólo ves en festivales, aparte de ser una ganga porque lo compré en La feria de la provincia, unos chicos que venden ropa usada pero hacen muy buena selección de lo que venden.

Y las sandalias son parte de una compra reciente, necesitaba urgente algo para el verano, y son lo máximo! de paso que tengo fiebre de "flatforms".

This dress/blouse would be great if it was a little shorter so you can see the bottom piece or longer to be worn with nothing underneath but it's super comfy and when i got it, it was love at first sight, plus coachella and all types of festivals came to mind when i saw it, and the price was super cheap because i bought it to some guys that sell really nice thrifted clothes. The sandals were a desperate decision considering summer was around the corner, and i love them! flatforms is the kind of shoe i was looking for.

LLegó el verano (o casi está aquí), y con él mi desespero por cada vez vestirme con menos ropa; en este caso, esa agonía por el calor se convirtió en un DIY (do it yourself): tomé mi franela/remera de Devendra y le corté las mangas, cuando me la puse me gustó más que cuando la compré! me siento un poco white trash y me gusta jajaja. ¿No les pasa que cuando modifican una prenda es como una renovación de votos? vuelven a enamorarse de su ropa ;)

Summer is here (or almost), and with it my willing to wear less and less clothes everyday, so to calm myself down during this so-sunny-i-wanna-kill-myself-day i decided to have my own DIY moment: i cut off the sleeves of my Devendra shirt and voila! brand new shirt, i think i even like it more than how it used to be, doesn't that happen to you? that when you modify your clothes it's like renewing your wedding vows? you fall in love with the piece all over again :)
