An old friend

Today after Dave had got to spend the day with his oldest friend (from childhood) I brought out my camera.
Scott is his name. He lives in Oregon and is traveling around visiting some friends and family in Oregon and here in Ca. He is then going onto Reno Nevada to see some more friends and family.
He definitely has the set up for such travels, this little motor home is just perfect! Not too big and definitely not too small.

He was able to just pull his motor home onto the side of the house and it is good to go, (or not go)!

I would love for Dave and I to have something like this set up. It is just perfect!

Neelie is still playing fetch with me today! She just loves it!

And Buick? He just had to show Neelie how to "Munk". (My wording for when Buick is in search of a chipmunk. He does not fetch but by God he munks.

It has been a real enjoyable couple of days having Dave have an old time friend to kick it with.

Yup there is nothing more precious than true friends and friendships!!!

Canine friends

My husband has always been a bit jealous of the fact that I have been so successful with continuing friendships from my childhood. The reason it has been easy for me is #1 I have absolutely WONDERFUL friends! #2 is because growing up I never moved. My family stayed in the same house from the time I was 16 months old until just last May, so I always stayed in the same schools and school district.My hubby Dave was not that fortunate. He moved all over growing up from Texas in several towns to California in several more, never staying even in the same school for more than a couple years tops.
So the other day we got the news that an old friend from Dave's childhood had found us/him.
Today this friend arrived.
For todays pictures tho' is just of his friends dogs. I know it sounds silly but I did not want to bombard this poor man with a bunch of picture taking when he first walked in the door. LOL!!!
I feel we should at least get on a first name basis 1st. LOL!
Sooo Let me introduce to you Neelie and Triple T.

This is Triple T. A real sweetheart of a dog.

Triple T is a quiet dog. Very sweet!

This is Neelie. She had no problem finding Buick and Nala's toy box and asking if anyone would like to play!

Sitting on the front porch politely asking for someone to play with. I did! She LOVES to fetch!

I had fun playing with her today. Buick and Nala don't fetch!

After a night of wind,(and yes I stayed here) I was at my wits end. These branches have got to come down. My hubby who has been up this tree throughout his life, and his brother convinced me that he could do the job. Scared to death of my hubby going up there and scared to death of what would happen if he did not, I finally caved in.
This is the after pictures.
All is well now except for the ulcer I have probably given myself.
To those of you that are not familiar with Pine trees, let me add that the main branch that I saw and thought was dead was not. A green branch like this is heavier than one can imagine.Why it snapped the way it did is still unknown by us.
But I am going to be looking UP into that tree all the time now.
I NEVER want to live with that kind of fear again, and I am NOT exaggerating!

No picture today. Just a shitload of wind last night that had me scared to death. I am not sure what we are going to do about this tree, but if the wind blows again lke last night I will not sleep in this house. Far too scary for me, and no I am not joking!
It is Labor Day. I could never afford a Labor day tree surgeon, if Lassen County even has one, if you know what I mean!

On December 28th of last year I wrote a post entitled "My biggest fear realized".
I tried to get a couple of laughs out of it. It was about my fear of the well over 100 year old pine tree that sits right next to my house breaking a limb and crashing onto the house, or worse yet onto some one.
Well it sort of happened, (not hurting the house or anyone else) I looked up into the tree yesterday when I noticed a branch of brown. Upon closer examination I threw myself into a frenzy!
Hanging above our roof was a broken branch that was NOT the size of a pick up stick. Here are some pictures of what we are dealing with on labor day weekend no less.

I could not get a picture of the tangled mess we have up there. With these photos I can only really show you how big this massive pine tree is.

At the moment my hubby and I are having words, as he wants to climb up there and cut down our problems. I am seriously against it! It is far too high.

Inever get to share my only grand daughter with my readers. She is Katie Ann and she is 4 years old today! Living in southern, Ca. the opportunity to see much of her or her little brother Andy is scarce. Her father, my oldest son Eric and his wife Cindy are having a birthday party for her today at Eric's in-laws home. Eric a school teacher is also a professional photographer. He told me the theme to Katie's birthday today is Strawberry Shortcake. He has a personal website of his children and I went and found these recent pictures of Katie Ann. I am sure these are the pictures on her birthday invitation that for no fault of anyone's I did not receive.

Katie was the first and ONLY girl born in my family since me. She now has identical twin girl cousins. The old family name is starting to produce some girls, and it's about time! Lol!!!

My apple and corn garden

I have taken a ton of pictures this year of hummingbirds,apples and even my grandson Jeremiah in my apple tree. I have bird feeders for nectar and seed in this tree.
Birds are sloppy, they throw their see all over the place. A month or so bacck I showed my hubby that I thought we have corn growing under this tree. We decided to not touch it (and the other things that were coming up around it) for awhile and see what would "pop up."
Well corn popped up. About 7 ears. Of course it is too late and cold for them to make it but I have had a bit of fun watering my "garden" that will never be!

Ihave just purchased a computer desk a week or so back. My old desk has ben placed on my porch until I get around to either tearing it down for the wood (which I probably will do) or to give it away or take to the dump. Today my grandson Jeremiah came by with a book to read. He chose outside to do his reading!
Now there ain't nutin' wrong with that!

My newly married son had to leave his new bride in Hawaii for a minute. He stopped by here to use Moms computer to send an e-mail and share some awesome wedding pics with me. Yes my son Travis is a very happy camper!

Note the disgust on Travis's face because I was taking pictures of him. He had just got home from work and was not in the mood I suppose.

Oh well he ought to know better at Mom's house. I always have my camera!

If our other local fire dept's or ambulances are on another call sometimes they have to come from miles away which was the case today when I was down visiting my brother-in-law Ray at the Feather River Apartments in Westwood. These guys came all the way from Prattville Ca.Which is clear on the other side of Lake Almanor. It is surely farther than a hop skip and a jump!

One of my very favorite spots around here is the Mill pond and this blog this year has shown it. I love how pretty it is once the snow has started flying or the geese and ducks are calling it home for a few months but this time of year it is almost empty and not so beautiful. I never realized how very little I have been posting pictures from it this summer. Just isn't that pretty of a place right now.

Today however I will post it just to show you what I mean.
Don't take me wrong I still think it is BEAUTIFUL up here and I am happy to call it home.
I would just prefer it to look the way it does in the fall,winter and spring compared to summer.

My son Travis Lee Mosley who was born up here (in Susanville) met his future bride Tiffany up here "rompin" their 4 wheel drive pick up trucks. Travis in his, Tiffany in her's Tiffany has been a part of this family ever since. They made it "official" in Hawaii in a truly romantic marriage made for just two.
So although these photos are in Hawaii, the mother and mother-in-laws (that would be me)LOL! body was here, my heart was with the kids on this most special of day.

Without a doubt, today I took some of my very favorite pictures I have taken this year for this blog.
I don't know what these flowers are called. I can tell you they stink to high heaven. Just gross!

They must be loved by all in the insect world however. Every little flower had these little butterflies and bees on them, along with an occasional fly and/or ant. It was real fun watching all the commotion these bright yellow flowers were causing!

Someone here in Pinetown has their priority's straight! Just in my opinion it is NEVER too early for getting the wood in!

Besides it being smart, I just happen to like seeing the wood start coming into town. I have no idea why, I just do!

All I know is these are all over town. They are purple and they smell heavenly. I am assuming they are from the sage family but that is just an assumption. I see them in some peoples yards like they were purposely planted (like below)and I also see them growing wild.

If you ever do see these take the time to grab a whiff. It is sure worth it. Beautiful!!!

On a more personal note; 30 years ago this morning at 6:30 I gave birth to my 2nd born son. Travis Lee was born in Susanville in the "old" hospital on Hospital lane. He was the 1st and only son born up here. Although I have lived up here ever since, it just so happened that the next 2 sons were born in southern Ca.

A Colorful Meadow

Not only do you see these fence corners in peoples yards, ya see them a lot on the fields like this. I suppose it is a way to keep your fence corners up eh? As many rocks you can find around here it is really a "cheap" way of doing it. LOL!!

For no particular reason that I know of, these shadows caught my eye as I was walking out of town.

It reminds me of puzzles I used to do (jigsaw) that would always throw in the shadow to make it harder! LOL!

Kind of a messy unkempt part of our woods. A little bit of everything.

Perhaps I am not done with "bling." As I was walking through town I noticed this very innovative way of using a little boat that perhaps does not float any more. LOL!!!

Today instead of the usual garage door bling or fence bling I found some side of the house bling! LOL!!!

A tad different but bling just the same!
I love this kinda stuff, I guess that is obvious however as I am always taking bling pictures!!!
This has actually been out front of this house now for years. The owner said it was found by the lake (Lake Almanor) many, many years ago.
