This is definitely not your traditional look at cardio!
PACE Program was created by Al Sears, MD and is 152 pages of relative information.

Inside Dr Sears exposes the myths or “facts” on traditional workouts to reveal the truth about getting healthy and even losing weight.

Did you know cardio isn’t actually good for you? One of the reasons is that traditional cardio actually wears down the heart and puts unnecessary stress and strain. In this totally new look at cardio Dr Sears explores the better alternative and shows us in plethora of examples who is really healthy. Did you know that body builders are healthier than runners and at the end of the day will still be standing to live and tell about it!

It’s quite shocking but for a hopeless non-runner I’ve started to get excited! To see that there is a way to build up healthy heart and lungs without going into shock? ...Amazing! You see I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who could run for miles and miles but ever since I could remember I could never sustain myself long enough. In school the 100m dash was something I could achieve and it didn’t matter what strategy I applied I just never seemed to handle long distances.

Actually PACE makes sense Al Sears tells you how to build your lungs, burn fat, improve your immune system, get your heart healthy, and more!
I have used the PACE Program on and off for the last few years and have returned to use it again. Why? Well, it’s not complicated. PACE can be done anywhere, anytime, and you don’t need the gym or fancy equipment.

You can order the PACE Program in both pdf format or as a book. I prefer pdf because it saves me having to wait forever and you can start reading ASAP.

Nuts about Coconuts!!

Coconut is the magic nut of them all! if you don’t like coconuts don’t bother reading this... I however, LOVE them!

It has been around for eons and still going strong - what am I raving about? Coconuts. Despite what other health experts say, COCONUT is the best natural food in the world and here is why...

None of the coconut is wasted material. Coconut water is the healthiest liquid by far, coconut meat is nutritious and high in fiber, coconut oil or fat is the healthiest oil in the world surpassing any other “healthy” oil by far. It’s not surprising that with all the benefits that coconuts contain people who live in tropical areas, where coconut is found in abundance, are some of the healthiest around.

SAY WHAT!?!...how is that even possible there is fat in coconut?

Well, here is how - coconut is anti-microbical, anti-fungal, and anti-viral. It has a high amount of vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber. It has also been dubbed the “tree of Life” and been apart of traditional medicine and culture across the globe in countless cultures. It has numerous properties that fight off infections, support thyroid function, kill off viruses, and a host of others too numerous to mention all within this post!

The milk of coconut is said to be the closest thing to mother’s milk, not only is it nutritious for everyone who drinks it, it also is known to help babies who aren’t getting enough nutrition.

The oil found within a coconut is remarkable and unique. It was once considered and labeled as “bad” fat in attempts to solely promote other oils. Lately research and scientific study proves that this is a false accusation on one of natures most beneficial gifts. Another reason coconut oil’s popularity diminished was due to WWII when Japan occupied the various Asian countries that supplied the west with coconut oil.

Countless number of people have started using coconut oil in their diets to improve their health and promote weight loss. Another important aspect of coconut oil is that it has a very low melting point, 76°F (24°C) where as other fats have a higher melting point. The average adult body temperature is 98.6°F (37°C) therefore it would be impossible for coconut oil to solidify and clog your arteries. The fatty acid in coconut oil is medium-chain which is quickly burned up in the body. This type of oil is burned up for energy and not stored as fat while regular fat is a solid at room temperature.

And last but far from least, coconut oil is remarkable for the skin as it keeps your skin looking healthy and young. Just substitute coconut oil for your regular lotion and you’ll soon see the benefits.

Beating the Rainy Blues...

It’s getting close to summer time, but what on earth happened to the weather? Outside it is miserable, overcast, and wet. The temperature is 50° (10 ℃). For some not seeing the sun is ok, while the rest of us start to feel more lethargic and irritable. The worst part of it is the incessant desire to eat something preferable hot and stodgy topped off with a decadent piece of cake or apple pie. Afterwards curling into bed and falling asleep till dinner time.

The weather affects your mood... why?
It’s is easy to become lethargic or miserable when the weather outside stinks, but what happens when it effects other areas in your life?
Many people face these or stronger feelings which occur during the wintry months and often linger till the weather warms up. We all notice variations of how the weather affects us.

Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD is when mood change is affected by the weather. SAD is related to light and the effects that low light or lack of light has on our bodies. The affects can be anywhere from irritability to lack of motivation. The problem comes when these feels intensify to depression and suicide. The symptoms can also include difficulty concentrating, weight gain, and increase in fatigue to name a few.

So what can you do to beat the seasonal blues away? First, seek professional help so that you can be diagnosed properly. Having a few of these symptoms doesn’t automatically mean you have SAD. As always, maintain a healthy diet and supplement with vitamins - omega-3 is said to be good for helping to relieve a variety of ailment like depression. Don’t stop exercising - you may not have the inclination or energy but exercise will help to pull you out of a slump when feeling blue.

Light therapy anyone? Light therapy is said to be very beneficial as the body needs a certain amount of vitamin D which is often missing in the light depraved lives we lead.

How you ask? Well the average person wakes up and goes about their morning routine. During daily light hours most people work and are often stuck in an office or cubical. By the end of work it is often dark outside and you go home have dinner and slump in front of the tube. A few hours later you to bed and continue the monotonous cycle day after day becoming more zombie like.

So light therapy works typically by sitting in front of the light device for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour a day. Most users notice a vast improvement on their overall well being without the harmful UV rays that can be obtained from the sun.

Light therapy uses a special “light box” and you can’t get the same affect by sitting near a normal light as it is not the same thing. Some people who go tanning also notice that they feel better; however, indoor tanners can have harmful side effects if not used properly. Light therapy is usually given under the guide of a physician but light boxes are currently available on the market for regular home use as well.

If you have a certain amount of blues when the weather changes get it looked at and find a solution to bettering your health.

Everyone Wants To Be Healthy!

If you don't, then this Health blog is just not for you ... if you do keep reading!

We all want some degree of healthy living in our lives, how much of it depends on us! And yes, I know, it is a hard challenge when life becomes so hectic that everything blurs into one continuous task.

Let's face it, even if you are genetically blessed and as skinny as a rake that doesn't mean your body is healthy. So what does healthy living really mean?
And why is it that we strive so much to be healthy but still fall short of our ultimate desire?

In a nutshell healthy living can be described as making any change to your lifestyle that benefits your body, mind, and spirit.

As to falling short, we all have goals some are achieved while others aren't! Then comes the question "How much do you REALLY want to achieve the goal?" Notice that I said the goal, as in one!

The best thing to do is start off with one goal. A goal that is simple to achieve. When you put a massive goal in your sights it is just one way of setting yourself up for failure... unless you are one of the few people who have the dogged determination to carry on no matter the cost till the bitter end!

Let's be honest...most of us aren't that determined. And if you are someone who continually loses the race it's best to start off small! There is no shame in small achievements - celebrate them, because with small victories you move closer to the larger goal.

If you start today with the goal to achieve just one thing, you will achieve it and be prepared to move over the next hurdle. So here is your challenge - pick a small goal, give yourself a time frame to achieve it, and write down 'the steps you took today' in a journal every day.

And let me know what challenge you over came. :-)
