Hi LCC members. Hopefully you’ve been able to take advantage of some of the nice weather and able to get out for a few rounds. April 15th. will be the first day that you can start posting your scores. Below is an expantation of what the maximum allowable score that you can post per hole.

Adjusting Scores for Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)
ESC is an adjustment of individual hole scores (for handicap purposes) in order to make handicap more representative of a players potential. ESC is applied after the round and is only used when the actual score or the most likely score exceeds a player’s maximum number. ESC sets a limit to the number of strokes a player can take on a hole depending on course Handicap.

Course Handicap

Maximum Number

9 or Less

Double Bogey

10-19

7

20-29

8

30-39

9

40 and above

10

Also if your match ends early and if you have played 13 holes or more you still must record a 18 hole score. For handicap purposes, the player must record a score of par plus any handicap strokes normally received for the holes not played in accordance with the RULES OF GOLF. these scores should have an “X” preceding the number.

For example, player A is not able to play holes 16, 17 and 18 due to darkness. Player A has a course handicap of 12 and holes 16, 17 and 18 are a par 5, 3, 4 and are allocated as the number 4, 16, 10 handicap holes, respectively. therefore, player A will record an X-6, X-3,X-5 on holes 16, 17, and 18 respectively.

Livingston Country Club currently has 101 Equity Members owning 185 Equity Shares. An Equity Member is defined as any member of LCC that purchases between one and six equity shares through LCC at $1000.00 per share. Each share allows the owner a vote at our Annual Meeting or at any Special Membership Meetings.

Equity Shares became available at LCC in 2008 when the club found itself in financial difficulty. At that time we raised $ 177,000.00 when 95 members purchased 177 shares to re-establish LCC as the premier golf and country club in our area. Should the membership ever vote to sell LCC, the profits of the sale will be divided equally among the Equity Members per share owned.

Equity Shares are still and will remain for sale through the LCC Board of Directors. The purchase of these shares continues to help LCC with capital improvements to the golf course, clubhouse, as well as the pro shop and grounds equipment. Equity Members also receive discounts on memberships as well as cart passes. Equity members have to pay their dues no later than November 15 or they lose their equity status. LCC does have a payment plan in which dues and equity shares may be paid over a period of time. These shares, however, are not currently transferable and Equity Members could be asked to pay an assessment should the club experience a deficit or a capital expense for which there were insufficient reserves. This occurred in 2010 with the total reconstruction of green # 11. Our By-Laws do provide that Equity Members can take a medical leave from the club for an illness or injury and they also provide for a one time personal leave of one year at the sole discretion of the member. If you are interested in becoming an Equity Member or require more information, please contact any board member.

The LCC Board of Directors posts all minutes of their monthly meetings on this website. They continue to strive to meet the needs of everyone at LCC and are available to hear ideas and concerns of all members. With Craig Chiara serving the best food in the area at The Nines, our golf pro Jeff Kaye and our greens superintendent Brian Smith continuing to perform their duties at such a high level, our future remains promising. We have weathered the storm that many other golf courses did not. We continue to be focused on our mission of providing our members the very best golf and dining experiences we have to offer at the most reasonable prices. Come join our family!

- LCC Board of Directors, Scott Hicks, President

Though many golfers can’t wait to get to the first tee to start a round of golf, its important to take time to prepare the muscles to play. Always take a few minutes before your game to warm-up. You’ll protect yourself from injury as well as improve your range of motion for a better golf swing. There are a lot of different exercises out there that you can do. Its best to check with your physician and see what best fits for you.

Once your body is warmed up, you need to warm up your swing. remember-you drive for show and putt for dough. By spending time warming up on the green first, you not only be prepared for the speed of the greens but you will also be starting the day with smooth, deliberate tempo. It make no sense to visit the range first and get stretched out and limber up for the opening drive, then stand for 15 minutes nearly motionless on the green.

Start on the practice green it’s smart to practice both long and shot putts to see how the greens are likely to play. Also take a few easy swings for chipping. Target your chips for different spots on the green and attempt a few shots of different ball flights and roll lengths. The LAST thing you should do before stepping to the first tee is to take some swings on the golf range. Begin your full swing warm-up with a lobe wedge and work your way up to short irons and then to long irons.Hopefully this routine will prepare you to make your best swings from the opening tee shot.

When you get a chance to play golf this spring remember there are a number of factors to consider when playing in cooler weather.

1. Heavier cold weather clothing can reduce freedom of motion and reduce swing speed. Your body and muscles are less flexible in cool weather, so take this into account when making your selection. It’s best to use a shorter back swing rather then a long full swing that requires more flexibility.

2. Low compression golf balls will preform better in cold weather as they help offset the hardening factor caused by lower temperatures.

3. The air temperature changes the compression of the golf ball, and also how it flies through the air. If you’re playing in 50 degree weather, you will notice about a 10 yard decrease in carry, which translates to about a 1 or 2 club difference when selecting your club.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK “Sam Snead’s got more money buried underground than I made on top. He’s got gophers in his backyard that subscribe to ‘Fortune’. He’s packed more coffee cans than Brazil”. ARNOLD PALMER

Dear LCC Member

Three years ago we began a tradition of recognizing the important role our employees play in the well being of our golf course by creating an employee appreciation fund. The response each year was encouraging and as those of you who contributed know both Jeff and Brian were very grateful.

For the fourth year in a row Jeff and Brian both agreed to reductions in their levels of compensation and operating budgets to help LCC remain on an even keel. We doubt that many would argue that both have managed to do more with less. The condition of the course this year again presented many challenges and Brian and his crew rose to the occasion to address several very difficult issues. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Brian for his hard work. We have also received a number of compliments from our tournament customers with regard to our Pro and his staff. In fact, several tournaments indicated that the main reason they stay with LCC is because of Jeff.

We think it appropriate then to ask that you consider making a check payable to “LCC– Employee Appreciation Fund” in an amount of your choosing. In the past we have suggested a contribution of between $50 and $100 but of course any amount would be greatly appreciated.. Please take a few minutes to write a check to the Fund and send it to our address PO BOX 266, GENESEO, NEW YORK 14454.

One of the great strengths of our club is the commitment of our staff to making LCC a great golfing experience. Join us will you in telling our employees how much we appreciate their dedication and hard work in making LCC the best golf value in western New York.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Many thanks
