      Livingston Country Club (LCC) boasts a rich history, deeply intertwined with the Geneseo community and the evolution of golf itself. From its humble beginnings as a 9-hole course to its modern 18-hole championship layout, LCC has been a cornerstone of the local golfing scene for nearly a century.

      Early Days and the Visionaries

      Our story begins in 1926 when a group of local businessmen and golf enthusiasts, recognizing the growing appeal of the sport, purchased 74 acres of farmland from George & Nora Newton. The land, with its open topography, mature trees, rolling hills, and deep ravines, proved ideal for a golf course.

      Construction began swiftly, and in the summer of 1927, the Geneseo Country Club opened its doors, offering a 9-hole course designed by renowned golf architect Seymour Dunn. Dunn, a celebrated figure in the golfing world, had designed numerous courses across the country, including Saranac Inn Golf and Country Club and Locust Hill Country Club.

      Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Growth

      The early years were not without challenges. The Great Depression impacted the club’s financial stability, leading to foreclosure in 1934. However, the Geneseo community rallied behind the club, and local businessman Austin Erwin purchased LCC at a foreclosure sale, ensuring its continued operation.

      The post-war era saw a resurgence in golf’s popularity. LCC thrived, expanding its membership and embracing the changing landscape of the sport. In 1961, the clubhouse was expanded, welcoming the public to enjoy its golfing and social facilities.

      Expansion and Modernization

      A major milestone occurred in 1980 when LCC decided to expand to 18 holes. This ambitious project culminated in the purchase of 52.5 acres from the James Welch Estate and the opening of the new 9 holes in 1989. The course was redesigned to seamlessly integrate the old and new holes, creating the challenging and enjoyable layout we see today.

      Throughout the 1990s and beyond, LCC continued to invest in its facilities, upgrading the course, pro shop, and clubhouse. Major renovations in 2004 and 2010 further enhanced the clubhouse, providing modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.

      Membership and Ownership

      LCC’s ownership structure has also evolved over the years. In 2008, the club re-established member ownership by offering membership units for sale. Today, nearly half of our 160 members are unit holders, ensuring the club’s continued success and commitment to its members.

      Hello LCC Community! Once again, the Stub Webb Member-Guest Invitational delivered some of the most exciting golf tournament action of the year at LCC!  Traditionally the 2nd "Major" of the season, with June's Member-Member being pushed back to September, the Stub Webb kicked off Major Season at Livingston Country Club.  Emerging victorious were member Jose Agosto, and his guest Cory Noto!   Highlighted by an elimination styled Shootout directly following Flight play, the format is truly unique compared to other events we hold.  This year saw a total of 20 teams across 5 different flights play four nine-hole matches, each team playing one another in their own flight.   The top two teams in each flight place, with the top 8 teams based on accumulated point totals move onto the Shootout.  At the end of Flight play, the following teams headed to the Shootout:  Jeff Schirmer & Dan Deming - Eliminated on the 1st shootout hole Leo & Louis Cichelli - Eliminated on the 1st shootout hole Ken Herlihy & Don DeGolyer - Eliminated on the 2nd shootout hole Dan & Jim Beikirch - Eliminated on the 2nd shootout hole Greg & Steve Bonacchi - Eliminated on the 3rd shootout hole in 4th place John Haugh and Jim Maloney - Eliminated on the 4th shootout hole in 3rd place Dan Gorton & Bill Hochadel - Eliminated on the final shootout hole in 2nd place Jose Agosto & Cory Noto - Winners Thank you to everyone who participated in the tournament!  Thank you as well to Jeff Kaye and David Thompson in the Pro Shop, Phillip Dille and the excellent grounds staff, and Corsa Restaurant.
