To all who have inquired about the two wolfdogs in the high kill shelter in TN:

Brandi at Braveheart Rescue is taking this pair just before the euthanasia date. Animal control in TN and Brandi have both done the most amazing work to save these animals, and I cannot tell you all how generous they have been with their time, resources and efforts. The shelter has literally gone above and beyond to protect these animals for weeks, despite a mandate from the state to euthanize.

Both Brandi and the animal control officer are personally offering to cover the costs, but I'd like to see they are both given help. I as well have offered to help with costs out of my own pocket.

The transporter is charging us just fuel. The cost is $300. We have a donor for the vetting. So all we need is several hundred to make this transport to their final home possible.

I cannot thank Brandi, the shelter in TN, Karen/the AC officer, and you all enough for your dedication and care about these animals. I have also CCed some cross posters outside the wolf community in case there are any people who are willing to help. This rescue has showed what great people we have in AC and wolf rescue.

This young female and her grey male partner are in dire need.
We are full and cannot take them, but transport can be arranged. A 6ft fence would be adequate, although the male is large and quite shy. I need lead time to neuter him. I believe she is spayed.

Anyone with any ideas or interested in them please contact me. They are 3-4 years old. Lower mids is my guess. Male maybe a bit higher.

Carly Shepherd is a 1 year old boxer who ate something that she should not have, and ended up with a bowel obstruction.

Carly's Mom was frantic and applied to everyone available, including IMOM. Luckily, she was able to get a local Humane Society grant for $500. This allowed IMOM to contact her vet, and pledge $500 towards Carly's life saving surgery. The vet will allow Carly's Mom to work out the remaining balance of the surgery on payments.

Here is what Carly's Mom had to say about Carly:

"My 1 year old Boxer named Carly who is just like one of my children has been diagnosed with a blockage due to swallowing an object. My children and I would be devastated if something happened to our baby."

My apologies, I forgot to attach the flyer and put the wrong link for paypal.

As you are probably aware, we have not reached out in a while for donations, but here we are!

The reason we have not is that we are concentrating on finding homes for the animals we have and not taking in any more until we get our numbers down. But this changed a few days ago....

Meet Midnight. This little guy is currently in foster care with one of our former fosters, who has now adopted Buddy. This beautiful boy once belonged to her boss and they no longer wanted him. When she got him home, she noticed that for several days he would just hide and not come out. She also said he was sent with Anxiety medication. After a few days, she noticed that he seemed to be having seizures and asked our opinion, we told her to immediately take him to the vet. What he found was astonishing! A 3 inch gash in his side! We have no clue where it came from but believe it was there when she picked him up. He has real long black hair, so it was not easily noticed and with him being scared, he did not allow her to hold him. He has since gone to the vet, stayed overnight for surgery to have the gash closed and is now doing better. He's coming out of his shell a little bit, so we believe this was his problem all along. They surgery cost $400, this included the ER visit and overnight care.

Update, we've been having some good adoptions lately. We have 5 condos set up at Petco in Mesquite, but we still have many animals in our care.

We have been lucky to receive some free cat food and some at huge discounts. We also received a pallet of cat litter for $80 which ROCKS!! But, we are out of food and really need some help.

We still have about 30 cats in our care (along with two precious dogs), 14 of the cats are special needs (4 being diabetic) that go to the vet once a month at a cost of $150 per visit, this includes filling much needed prescriptions and blood work.

Just to fill you in, Keli is still fighting VCA on her unemployment. Keli did win the first round, but we are sure they will appeal this. Until this has been completely settled, Keli is scared to touch the unemployment money she has received in fear that if they win, she will have to pay it back. Keli is currently working temporarily for Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (KCAAPS). Her responsibilities there are finding as many animals as she can to get them spayed or neutered for free. The areas she's been assigned to are in zip codes 75227 and 75217. If you know of anyone in those areas in the need of these services, please contact Keli also see the attached flyer. (And tell them Keli sent you)

As this will be giving her a temporary income, it will just be enough to pay her personal bills. She does not have any extra to help with the animals as she always has in the past. If everything goes well with the Spay/Neuter program, she will receive a bonus of $2000 which will go straight to Halteman's Haven.. but in the meantime, we need some help.

This event assists Pawmetto Lifeline in their life saving efforts to rescue dogs and cats from euthanasia in municipal shelters. I need people like you on my team to help raise money for this cause! Please consider joining my team. You would be responsible for soliciting donations from family, friends and other contacts on behalf of the animals. It's easy using the Pawmetto Lifeline online fundraising tools. In June a family asked Roads of Hope for help in getting their two dogs from IN to TX because of a move due to an employment change and the husband had to stay behind a couple months more and the wife was unable to move the dogs with the two small children and the husband could not keep them, because he was staying in corporate housing in IN and she was moving into corporate housing in TX so the catch was that a foster was also needed, because the corporate housing was not going to allow the dogs. I posted out for foster and a wonderful lady named Lisa stepped up to foster Kahuna (the St Bernard) and Knuckles (the Lab). All was great the family kept in touch with Lisa, they sent money monthly for food and kept in regular contact to be updated on how their boys were doing and than after six months the owners (father) told Lisa that they bought a new home and his wife didn't want the dogs, because the youngest of their two children had developed a fear of large dogs and so he was going to have to find new homes for them. Lisa the foster was devastated and rightly so she grew to love these two big boys and so she offered to keep them with her and the so called family said they would help her financially with these boys living expenses and any medical. Well that is not the case they are now going through a divorce and told Lisa they just are unable to help, because they are "depressed" and things are hard for them and unable to help! Sadly this is tough on Lisa too. This year she had a huge cut back in hours in her job which meant a loss in wages. Lisa is living on a meager salary and the last two months she has had to decide whether she eats or Kahuna gets his meds and thus far Kahuna's meds have won out. Please help me help Lisa and Kahuna. Below is the Vet info so you can donate DIRECTLY to the vet if that is your preferred way to donate or you can donate through my website we are a 501©3 Charitable Organization no amount is too small . I posted this out earlier, but gave wrong info for donating.
Kahuna's Addisons Disease means his parathyroid glands aren't producing steroids.
His shot cost 238.00 he needs this monthly
his oral prednisone cost 20.00; per 20 days.
The vet is kindly not charging her for office visit.

SHE's SAFE - AND STILL TERRIFIED!

Thanks to every single one of you! You made it possible for Dallas to get to her rescue this weekend. Nancy C made the 24 hour roundtrip from Kansas City MO to Birmingham AL to pick Dallas up from Nancy B, who drove 13 hours roundtrip to get her out of North Carolina. It was an exhausting weekend for everyone -especially Dallas!!!!
But Dallas is now safe and secure, and won't have to move until SHE wants to! She's in her kennel and settling in. First on the agenda is simply some R&R time. We will allow her to just settle and calm down for 1-2 weeks before anything else. This is needed in order to get any kind of a read on her. This poor girl has literally been through hell for over a month. She has a lot to overcome. It also appears her deceased owner didn't expose her to other humans much, if at all. So she has two trust issues to deal with.

Her rehab will be a very slow and very gentle process. We'll know more in a couple of weeks as she calms down, takes a breath, and begins to feel safe.

WE WILL POST UPDATES ON THIS CHIPIN.

Recently rescued Zorro needs $$$ for veterinary emergency

Update: Please send to everyone.....I just spoke with the vet tech in LA, and Zorro has been up and walking tonight, going to his food and water and walking around his kennel. The vet wanted to hold off tests until he went conservative first to see if he would start walking with the anti-inflammatory meds. Please go ahead and send the dontations there , I am still working on seeing about getting him out here locally but need to make sure we have the right facility. Stand by for an update tomorrow.....thank you all.....Zorro has a lot of people pulling for him...but he still has a ways to go, and the boarding does cost so this will help defray that cost....thank you...

I Spoke with the Vet – Dr Schulman this afternoon. Unfortunately, since this little guy doesn’t have a paying owner, he is being put on the bottom of the list. The good news he is resting okay and getting food, fluids and steroid injections to try and reduce the inflammation in the spinal area. The DR said at this point he doesn’t believe it is neurological, based up his actions. But he needs to perform some further tests which have NOT been done yet due to emergencies that have taken priority. He said he can do some tests, but basically, he will need some dollars to continue to determine what is wrong with little Zorro. So....little Zorro needs help. Can you please pass around and see if we can get donations directly to the hospital, we need them to keep coming in or we all now what will take place....... This little guy has many years left in him, but now just needs help (dollars) to help the vet find out what is wrong with him........thank you all....

GOOD NEWS:

- HONEY (Golden Retriever) and ZORRO (Rat Terrier) were rescued together after years of cruel neglect.

- Honey is on her way to Homeward Bound sanctuary in Sacramento.

BAD NEWS:

-Zorro collapsed and was paralyzed due to swelling of his spinal cord. He needed emergency treatment.

- Homeward Bound could not undertake the huge expense of the surgery, so Honey and Zorro had to be separated.

GOOD NEWS:

- Dr. Schulman stabilized Zorro, saved his life, so far.......

If you donated to Homeward Bound, the rescue who has taken in Honey, THANK YOU!

Honey, the Golden Retriever and Zorro, the Rat Terrier have lived in the yard behind my house.

About 8 years ago, the guy living there brought home the golden retriever puppy, about 1-2 years later he got married and along came the terrier with his new wife. Ever since then they don't give any attention to the dogs whatsoever. They have never been inside, I doubt they have ever even been to a vet. They have never worn a collar. The yard is a mess and they have one little house they both sleep in with no comforts at all. Zorro sleeps on the back of Honey.

They are an inseparable pair. They endure all the weather outside. There have been so many times when the owners leave for a weekend or week and they run out of food and water. Over the years I have played and talked with them from the wall that separates our yard, I give them food and treats and water each night byhanging over the wall. Honey is now a senior lady and I think Zorro is too, but I don't know his age.   Zorro tends to have a little bit of arthritis in one of his legs and I have been giving them glucosamine over the last few
years. They still run around the yard and have plenty of energy and are super friendly, they simply adore the attention. They will sit for hours by "our spot" at the back wall and wait for me to greet them each evening. That is the only human contact they have.

I heard the couple talking a few months ago that they want to get rid of them. I would hate to see them go to a shelter and die there together, after knowing nothing but a patch of dirt and a nice lady who hangs over the wall feed them.

I am hoping that someone would consider taking them TOGETHER and seeing them through their golden years and let them have the comforts that should have been given to them over the years. I have never called animal control as I am the only one that can see into their yard and I didn't want them to know I called. I figured I would try and take care of them the way I do. At least I know they have food and water and petting each night, but they need much more. I doubt they are spayed or neutered but don't know for sure. If anyone is interested I would
talk to them and let them know they would have a good home. The last picture of Honey smiling - she does that when she gets really excited to see me!

They have become so attached to me that ......the yard behind me where they are has a hill on it which looks over into my backyard. Those two sit on the hill facing towards my back patio, they will sit there for hours on end waiting for me to come out the back door onto the patio – when I do, then starting barking and squealing (Zorro) and run down off the hill towards our
little meeting spot at the back wall.   They really, really need some affection. As they get on in their years they so need someone to give them the love and attention that has been denied to them over all these years.

Even after all these years of neglect they still love people!!! Just this weekend, I noticed that the neighbors never put out any food....but they have me to feed them until they can get to their forever home.....thank you..

Chubbers is a 3-year-old Pekingese with suspected pyelonephritis, an ascending urinary tract infection that has reached the kidneys. Sepsis is also suspected. (Sepsis is a serious condition characterized by a whole-body inflammatory state along with infection.)

Chubbers is a very sick boy. His veterinarian noted earlier today that he is anorexic, dehydrated, and hypoglycemic, and needs treatment as soon as possible. Treatment will consist of hospitalization, radiographs, IV fluids, antibiotics, further testing, and monitoring.

Here's a note from Chubbers' mom:

I am disabled with a terminal illness (lungs) and I am oxygen dependant. I also have heart and kidney disease and I am sick a lot - I depend on Chissy and Chubber for companionship - they are all I have that stick by me in sickness and health -staying in bed with me all day if that is what I have to.

I have a WHAT in my tummy?

Mollie is an 11 year old dog rescued from a lazy, selfish, ignorant man who basically left her in his backyard to die. He claims to love her but look at these photos and ask yourself, how is that possible? How can a human cause an animal so much pain, watch her suffer and wither away to a skeleton and still claim to love her?

Mollie's companion, a young male pit, was so hungry that he wouldn't let Mollie eat. On the rare occasion that food was thrown out for them he would attack her to keep her away from the food. Her head and face are covered in bite wounds and scars and a chunk of her ear is missing! She's so sweet, she never fought back....

Four months ago Mollie, a frail and sick senior dog, gave birth to a litter of puppies because her "owner" never bothered to have her spayed. How could someone let this old, sick dog get pregnant and give birth to puppies?

Kept in a filthy, disgusting backyard her whole life. Garbage, debris and feces everywhere. A small crumbling tool shed was her only shelter. She's never seen grass, never been out for a walk, she's never been for a joyride or a romp at the park. Mollie is covered in sores and calluses from laying her boney body on dirt and concrete her whole life. She's tough to look at.. but she's got a beautiful spirit!

After everything that Mollie has been through you'd think she would be withdrawn, distrustful of humans and emotionally scarred. Not this gal! Mollie is a lovely, outgoing, friendly dog! She wants nothing more than to give you kisses, lay in your lap, get belly rubs and snuggle. She craves love and affection and she graciously gives it in return!

X-rays show that Mollie has a loose SCREW in her stomach! She was so hungry that she ate a screw. If that screw moves it could tear her up inside. Mollie needs a very delicate procedure to remove the screw.

URGENT! - The animal control people are taking us to court again! This time they are determined to win! They say we haven't done all the things we were required to do by the last hearing. This is true. They told us we have to move the cats and we looked for months for a building to move the cats to. We could not find one in this county or the two neighboring counties. Either a building wasn'...t suitable or the owners wouldn't allow animals. Finally, as you know, we rented a piece of land to which we wanted to move the cats. We had rescued Zamboni in Long Beach after a call about a mother cat having a baby who was deformed and we rushed immediately to the scene.

Zamboni has been patiently waiting and growing up so he can have his backwards back leg removed. You can see pictures of him in his photo album on our Long Beach Felines Facebook page. We took in Zamboni at just 5 weeks old. He was the only kitten with his mother, Catrina, who we also rescued. She took very good care of him. He was healthy, happy & spunky. His right back leg is backwards, doesn't bend at all & sticks straight out most of the time. He's learned how to move so that the leg doesn't get caught up. His left back leg is also deformed, but he has partial use of it and uses it like a tripod for balance. His compensation has given him large muscular shoulders and a very handsome physique. One of his favorite things is having someone rub his ears, cheeks and chin - something he can't ever do for himself. After his recovery from surgery, we will look for a forever home for him. It will need to be a special person who can accept his accidents. He tries very hard to get to the litter box, but there are times that he dribbles on his way there. He doesn't like to do that and stops to try to clean it up

Maxwell's Story

Maxwell obviously had a home at some point in his life because he never met a stranger. In fact, it is his charming personality that may have worked against him on this ill-fated day. Finding himself homeless and abandoned, he was lucky to join a colony of feral cats and at least get one meal each day. If not for the caretaker of this particular colony, Maxwell would most likely be dead today.

After feeding the cats, she noticed blood coming from his backside and knew he was in serious trouble. She picked him up and found a friend to foster him until his medical issues could be addressed. The friend called SpayMart and asked if the organization could help out, as Maxwell had no one. Hearing the circumstances, SpayMart took him to the vet immediately.

What the vet revealed was totally shocking – Maxwell was bleeding because rubber bands had been wrapped around both testicles and the penis. The testicles had ruptured over time due to the stricture, and little remained of the penis. Infection had set in, leaving little viable tissue and a rather poor prognosis. After a lengthy discussion, the vet decided euthanasia was most likely the only option. Everyone at SpayMart was saddened to think that such a sweet innocent animal was losing his life because of a senseless act of cruelty.

But then came another shock and a ray of hope. The vet called to say after much deliberation, he had decided that the worst thing that could happen to Maxwell was to die during surgery and wanted to at least give him a chance. A perineal urethrostomy – a delicate, time consuming and rather costly procedure - was performed Friday night and we are happy to report he is doing extremely well. Updates will be provided of Maxwell's continued progress.

She had blood in her stool while at the shelter, so we took her to the vet yesterday for an examination. Although that has improved, when the doctor did the exam she found tumors in every single mammary gland - Ginger is going to need a full mastectomy. FuMan Chew is a 8 yr old Chihuahua Mix that has been shot with a BB at close range. The BB went through the chest and nicked the heart. The owners have exhausted all their funds to save their baby. The hospital needed a pledge from us for an emergency transfusion (As the PVC(pcv?) has been dropping), if it was needed tonight. We have pledged the $500 for the transfusion, if it is needed.

The next part is cont. hospitalization, iv meds, possible echo cardiogram/chest tap, continued treatment to keep FuMan Chew stable. I spoke with the vet many time today, and the only option is to bring the dog home and hope for the best, or raise more funds so that they can continue to treat FuMan Chew. With our pledge, they are going to let us try to raise the funds over night. The hope is with the last $1500, that FuMan Chew should be on his way to recovery.

Today, thanks to all the IMOM Angels that contribute to the General Fund, we were able to help Willow, a doggie with Pyometra. As per the vet docs, this is the largest this vet has ever seen. Willow was in really bad shape.

Luckily, the vet was willing to accept a $700.00 pledge from IMOM. Willow's father is currently waiting while surgery is going on. We hope all goes smoothly and that Willow will be recovering soon.

A4388650 Roc Rottweiller 6 years
This dog is a personal favorite of mine, I was right at the beginning of his shelter journey. I was called to help an Officer with a large dog trapped in the Public Works gully, we needed to lift him over a 6 ft fence. This amazing Rottie allowed 2 gals to manhandle him over a 6 ft fence and then when I was pulled up and landed on the other side he rushed over to lick my face and check I was OK!!
This big guy just loves people, he is honing his leash skills and listens well, he also makes amazing eye contact and wants to please. we have not had him off leash with other dogs yet but he seems keen to meet them rather than aggressive, and with the correct introduction is likely to be doggy social.
Roc is very affectionate with people, I have hugged him, touched him all over and he has had no issues with any of that. Please, if there is a Rescue with room for a big affectionate "teddy bear" then I'm begging you to pull Roc!

Poor Joey, he's so depressed at the shelter, his owner passed away and there was no one to look after him. He is incredibly sweet and gentle when taken out of the kennel, because he always does his business I'm thinking he's housetrained. Who ever turned him in stated he was good with other dogs and children.
Joey is an incredibly dignified dog, he deserves a second chance at a loving home, he has not had the best of care in the past, he needs grooming but he's a wonderful handsome boy who is eminently adoptable! He is in danger at the shelter because some think he has no personality, he's actually way smarter than those people!

This poor boy is adorable but the owner stated he bit her. We took him out and manhandled him, pulled a bandana over his head, took off a collar that was way too tight and picked him up. In short we did everything we could to make him bite us but we failed dismally! He is as cute as can be and very affectionate with us, maybe a home without kids and a sensible owner will be all that Bowy needs for a second chance.

This poor baby has mange, demodectic and it seems just to be on her face. She is a sweet and fun loving pup who is stuck in a County shelter, she will not make it out without Rescue. They have her on meds. but as we all know she needs to be out a stressful environment and of course she is in ISO so no one sees her. We took her out today and found a real sweetheart who just wants to play and have fun. She has a beautiful yellow coat and big brown eyes, this pup so deserves a second chance. Please if any rescue has room, please please pull this gorgeous gal!
