Megan and Jason | Part 1 | E.P.Tom Sawyer Park Wedding | Preparation

People with beautiful insides. You just want to be around them. From the minute I hopped in Megan’s car to venture out on their engagement session to the first step onto E.P. Tom Sawyer’s park for their rehearsal, I found comfort. In not just their kindness, but their comfort with one another. Their love is pure and unrestrained – a love so fun and all their own. Megan was an absolute joy to work with. Absolutely nothing could ruin her day and both she and Jason were so gracious, appreciative and loving towards their family and guests. My favorite kind of day!

The ladies got started with hair at Fingertips Salon, while the boys with bowling at Ten Pin Lanes in St. Matthews. I worked with the girls and met up with Nathan, my associate photographer, at the bowling alley to catch some bowling fun. He spent all day with the boys, which means double the images. Parts two and three will follow soon, so we can fit all the goodness in!

I love so much that Megan and Jason chose to see each other before. We got to walk out in a little meadow of flowers and grass to photograph them. Always so wonderful to be a part of that. All Jason could say was ‘You are so beautiful – beautiful-beautiful-beautiful.’ I highly recommend a first look to my brides – we scope out a great location and set it up so we get some great portraits of the bride and groom and then we can get bridal party portraits and family images out of the way early. I just love, love, love this!

Last thing that I love before part one is complete: they wrote their own vows! If you’ve followed for long, you know this is one of my favorite parts of a wedding. It was so perfect! See you tomorrow for part two! Enjoy!

Britt | Shelby County High School Senior Portraits

A sweet drive in the country is pretty much my favorite thing – ever. And make that drive right before golden hour, but right after dinner at my parents (my cooking skills don’t get exercised much). And then top that all off with a session at your home, in the country and I’m in. Britt’s session started at her family’s home, down the skinniest road I may have ever driven. Golden light, tall trees and the neighbor’s barn with surprise horses inside.

After we worked the light a bit and figured out that Britt’s personality isn’t quite nature girl, we headed into town where we hopped all around. Her involvement in theater arts is super important, so we shot at the Shelby County Community Theater a bit with a giant scrapbook her mom made of old playbills, tapes and theater paraphernalia. Britt participates in the Walden theater, and since her mom is banking on selling her old playbills when she becomes super famous, I will keep these beautiful images stored safely, just in case Broadway needs a high school picture. Just saying my friends, Ms. Britt looks super beautiful in these images. And that last image. It’s not perfect, but it just feels so right. So summer. And free. Enjoy!

Stacey was a joy to work with. We share the same vintage loves and affection for florals. And look, in that first picture (that I love *oh* so much) you can see the studio in the background. After shooting around downtown Shelbyville for a bit, we took our senior photography session to the graveyard. Yep, you heard it here: we made most of these great pictures in a cemetery. But you don’t see any headstones, do ya? We had mason jars full of buttons, an old quilt, some flowers and loads of sunlight to complete the perfect session; even cooler weather came along for the occasion. Enjoy Stacey’s gorgeous eyeballs and sweet disposition. I know you can’t tell how hard-working and smart she is from these images alone, but trust me, she’s much more than a pretty face and a kind heart. Enjoy!

Just a little slow on blogging, but getting all caught up! I met with Jen and her mother at The Galt House just a couple of weeks ago, where we wandered all around the bit of waterfront there. Jen’s mom won the gift certificate donated to Taste of Derby Dare to Care silent auction this spring and I am so glad, because we had so much fun shooting this session. Much laughing took place and we had the best, breezy and cool weather just before a storm moved in. Thanks again ladies for such a fun time. Hope you enjoy these pictures of beautiful Jennifer!
