Don't you hate it when you invest in something trendy and then, oops, it's already out of fashion by next season?! Well, here are 4 super-duper trends that are going to stand the test of seasonal-style-time.

1. Light Dusty Pink:

One of the Pantone colours of the year is rose quartz and I am happy to say that this soft pastel-y pink is gonna carry through the colder seasons coming up.

2. Ruffles:

Girly and full of fun movement, ruffles are gonna get you going on those nights when autumn winds and rain may have you feeling a little sluggish.

3. Off-The-Shoulder

We have been bearing our shoulders all summer (I mean, we all have, right?!) and I am happy to say that this body part is gonna continue to get lots of "air" time this fall.

4. The Choker:

A happy homage to the 90s, I am so into this My So Called Life Trend. It's huge now and it's gonna be huge later, so feel free to channel your inner Angela Chase and jump on the bandwagon.

LKISStyle: On Virgin Radio, 5 Tips on Surviving Plane Travel in Style

I am heading to Europe soon (wahoo!) and it got me thinking about all the ways I like to make plane travel a little more, well, civilized. It's like if I have to head on a tin can through the air in a herd of cattle and eat coagulated weirdness served on mini-dishes from the 70s, at least let me have it together by the time the flight is over, ya know?

So, here are a some tips for surviving plane travel in style this summer!

1. The Jogging Pant Faux Pas

Inevitably, I see someone boarding the plane in a sweatsuit and I think to myself: Why?! I mean, I get that comfort is essential, but can't we grab a pair of chic pants with a drawstring or pants with some good stretch instead? Let the adjustable waist be your friend on a long haul.

2. The Scarf Must

A great cashmere or pashmina scarf will be your best friend. It will keep you cosy on the plane, act as a great night cover up at your destination and can always add a shot of colour or intrigue to what would otherwise be a basic outfit (because, face it, we all tend to pack mix and match basics like black, white, denim and grey).

3. The Face Refresher

I am not a person who needs to exit the plane with a full face of makeup or anything, but there is something to be said about refreshing your face after a long (and squished) flight. Grab a mist or water spray to perk up your skin after all that recycled air.

4. Cheat a Shower

Have to get off the plane and head to your event or meeting? Dry shampoo is a godsend. It absorbs excess oil and gives your blow out the boost it needs after being squashed against one of those little oval airplane windows.

5. Layering and the Unstructured Blazer

Okay, so you want to be comfortable, right? But you also want to look like you fly in business class (even if you are actually flying coach). Layering gives you the flexibility to minimize perspiring and freezing throughout the travel process, which are both pretty common occurrences when flying. Also, a blazer in a stretch fabric or that is a deconstructed style (in other words it is not too stiff and gives you the ability to grab your bag off the conveyor belt without a Tommy-Boy-Fat-Guy-In-Little-Coat moment) will give you the polish you need for your cozy get up (i.e.: leggings and a T-shirt or your drawstrings pants and a tank).

Okay, it's 2013: That is enough to blow anyone's mind! Where did the year go?? Well, it's time to start anew and that is the best part of new year's. The opportunities are endless and new beginnings seem infinitely possible!

What is the best way to start a new year? Sure, sure, you can vow to get back to the gym, wear those sequined pants you bought five months ago or read that book you know you would love if you could just get into it. Well, while I love the idea of getting in shape, or expanding your mind, I think the best and easiest way to start fresh is to pump up your beauty routine, and here are my favourite new year's resolutions for 2013.

1. Make moisturizing easy:

Check out this 3-in-1 product from Jouviance that totally makes moisturizing a cinch. I am positively obsessed with it and it will make being constantly on-the-go totally doable. Saving time and saving my face? Yes, please!

2. Get glowing:

My dearest Glamglow...this product does not dissapoint! A fantastic way to rejuvenate your skin and literally glow. Talk about taking care of yourself.

3. Know your A, B, C's:

I know we all say don't sit in the sun...and then, guess what? A lot of us still do! So, I have devised several tips on how to get that bronzed look without kicking your skin's butt (so to speak). Sefl-tanner from St. Tropez is the bomb, literally. Then try bronzer year round for a nice golden glow, like this gorgeous one from Rimmel London. Finally pick makeup with SPF in it, like the awesome lip balm from Fresh (see number 8, too!).

It's a new year, so rather than a "new" you, just try a few beauty resolutions for a better you, because you were already pretty darn good.

...sport sandals are back. Maybe not the Tevas you remember from the mid-nineties (although, those work, too). But designer versions of this rather technical sandal are all the rage and guess who bought into trend?

Yup: This gal is hopping on the bandwagon and rocking a pair that I just snapped up at Geox! They are a special edition, designed by Patrick Cox and frankly I am loving the wicked combo of style excellence and extreme comfort.

LKISStyle: On Virgin Radio, How to get Your Sunscreen on

I will admit it: I hate putting sunscreen on. It just seems messy and sticky and, frankly, annoying. But this necessary evil is a part of our summer enjoyment. And, if it isn't part of your summer-prep, then it's time to rethink it.

Here are 6 tips on how to make sure you are doing sunscreen right:

1. Moisturize:

Here's my number one tip. Mixing your sunscreen into your body moisturizer takes the thinking out of it. And, I can say I really don't want to think about sunscreen.

2. Make it your Tanner

Gonna self tan? Mix in sunscreen with your fave self-tanner (mine is St. Tropez, hands down) and then head out for your day in the sun with adequate protection and great colour setting in.

3. Routinize

Just make it something you do. Try to put it on every time you get out of the shower. That way you will be applying it at least once a day (I really hope) and you will get it on all your parts, which means you have protection everywhere.

4. Reapply

The thing with sunscreen is it does wear off. This means you gotta make sure to keep it handy (in a fabulous Tote, obvs) and grab it after a dip in the pool or a sweaty frisbee session.

5. Pick the right one

So, I have heard that after a certain number it makes no difference (SPF 1 million doesn't do extra) and I have also heard that the higher you go the better (SPF infinity plus 1). My take is: Put it on. I feel like if you are putting any on, whether it is SPF 10 or 70 billion, at least you are headed in the right direction. And, if you really want to do it right go for SPF 30. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, this is your safest bet.

6. Get one that can multitask

Anti-aging sunscreen, firming sunscreen, tinted sunscreen...there really is something for everybody. Why not let your sunscreen to do a little extra work while you are diligently incorporating it into your life.

You are now ready for fun in the sun (screen).

Orange as a pop of colour around the face is generous in that healthful glow kind of way.

2. A Cheeky Bag:

Orange just says quirky and so a fun satchel full of punch is just the trick for the inherently humorous hue.

3. The Boho Dress

Burnt orange or sunny D styles, a bohemian vibe totally jives with orange.

4. The Citrus Suit:

A bathing suit in orange is, in my opinion, the perfect combo of a small amount of the statement making colour on the perfect back drop...toi!

1. Be honest

Really evaluate what looks good...and works for your frame!

2. Ignore the size

Size 12? Size 2? Who cares!!! Pick the bathing suit that fits you best.

3. Pick comfort

You never want to be the one on the sidelines missing out on the beach blanket bingo cuz you feel like you can't move around poolside.

4. Smart Picks Rule

Use colours and prints to play up or downplay your best and worst assets (this works hand in hand with #1).

Alright, so now go forth and get that bathing suit and hit the water with a little swagger in your front stroke, knowing that you look mermaid-fabulous.

Sometimes trends make me fashion-angry. A term I like to call: Fangry. This season it's crop tops that are really getting my goat. I will be chatting with Lee Haberkorn on Virgin Radio this afternoon about my fashion rant toward these mini-shirts.

In every store, on every street, I am seeing so many of these belly-bearing toppers and I am over it. Big Time.

Here's why:

1.Where am I going in one?

Seriously? To the office? I can just imagine trying to be taken seriously in any scenario with my belly button waving hello.

2. Who has those abs?

I probably know two people who actually should wear a crop top and even then I have to say that this is a situation in which I just don't think it matters!!!

3. But they would be so nice!

These tops would be gorgeous with a few extra inches on them! Add more length and they could have been amazing. Coulda, shoulda woulda...

4. Mega Trend Overload

So, what is worse than a big trend this season that gets overplayed? A big trend that is totally unwearable!!!

5. At What Age?!

Crops tops on my 6 year old niece? Yes. Crop tops on anyone else that has passed puberty....not so much.

Expressing your style seething is the first step toward being totally fashion zen!

Inspired by my good friend and co-host on air of my fashion segment on Virgin Radio, Lee Haberkorn, I am feeling ready to make some changes! Okay, okay, it also puts a bit of a fire under my a** because I just had a baby and summer is fast approaching...So, for all of you who have already made those positive changes, here are a few tips on how to style your new bod. And, hopefully I will be giving myself the same advice in a few weeks (months?).

1. Get a good tailor:

No need to throw out the clothes-baby with the fashion bathwater. Take your now too big stuff to an excellent tailor for an update that won't require a total wardrobe overhaul.

2. Dress for your new shape:

You used to wear baggy pants to hide your rump, or you wore a wide belt to create a waist? Well, the rules have changed and so have the body parts you may or may not want to highlight. Take a good look in the mirror and assess your shape, it will require an evolved approach.

3. Don't invest yet:

If you aren't done your cleanse/diet/lifestyle change yet, don't go spending a ton on new clothes. Wait until your desired plateau is reached before dishing out major cash on clothes.

4. Take a risk:

It's a brand new body-world when you have finally made positive changes to your physique. Now is the time to take your confidence to the style bank and get something you never would have before. Feel proud and confident in your new silhouette!

5. Treat yourself:

You worked hard. No one can even know how hard you worked, that is, of course, until you go out and buy yourself something epically fabulous to mark the occasion. Rewards will keep you feeling positive and make you more likely to maintain your new found physique. (But, again, my recommendation is invest in something that doesn't require a size change if you keep going!)

With summer around the corner, we are all busy talking about trends, trends, trends....but what about the basics?! Those staples that round out your closet and are the building blocks of any stylish gals warm weather wardrobe are a total must.

So, here are 5 of my summer basic must-haves!

1. The Blank Canvas, The White Tee

A perfect white T-shirt is like a clean backdrop; It lets the rest of the outfit sing! The ideal fit is a must and go for the collar that suits your neckline (v-neck is a good bet for most). Pair with a statement necklace and denim for casual-fabulousness all summer long.

2. Daisy Duke Denim

Jean shorts are a way to complete your look with a causal and edgy touch. Distressed details add some rock and roll and the comfort factor is not to be downplayed. Grab a pair of strappy sandals and a blazer for a night on the town or throw on a tank, some funky running shoes and a light cardigan for a road-trip-worthy get-up.

3. The LPD (Little Pattern Dress)

4. Grunge Girl

A nineties gal myself, I love that we are seeing some serious teen-spirit for fashion this fall.

5. Loving Lace

Feminine and pretty but with a definite edge, lace is a texture that will be cropping up next season.

Now this is a trend I can get behind! Blue makeup on the eyes is back in a major way this upcoming Spring/Summer 2016.

Here are four perfect ways to feel the blues:

1. Glitter:

Sparkling eyes in any shade is definitely a big one this season, but try blue for a unique and glamorous touch. It's so Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead, right?!

2. Blue Liquid:

Layer on liquid liner for some mega drama. This is a quick and easy way to have your makeup make a statement.

3. Blue Smoke:

A smokey eye is sultry and great for a night out. In blue, it adds a modern twist to this total classic.

4. Bottom Liner:

Sort of avant garde, liner on the bottom in a bold blue hue is my favourite way to wear this beauty trend.

The Oscars are never gonna blow our minds fashion-wise. You would think that it would, given that the gowns are created by the best in the fashion industry for Hollywood's most glamorous stars and these dresses go for thousands and thousands of dollars...but, alas, because this is the "serious" awards show, it has the tendency to air on the side of conservative and classicism rather than high-fashion and edginess. So, I figured instead of doing the best of (but stay tuned to the end...I will definitely talk worst), I wanted to show the hottest trends in evening wear that you can now expect to permeate your own fancy nights out.

1. Purple Train

Reese and Tina both looked gorgeous in this universally flattering jewel tone.

2. White and Whimsical

Think bridal white, but add some zest for a more red-carpet-worthy look. Special shout out to Lady Gaga who wore pants (gasp!) to the Oscars.

3. Feeling Blue

Sophia Vergara looked absolutely smashing in Marchesa and while the other blue gowns (Brie Larson and Patricia Arquette) didn't blow my mind, I found the colour super on-point.

4. Pastel People

Light pink, baby yellow and seafoam green were all a gorgeous nod to Spring. I have to give the honourable mention to Kate Blanchett who delightfully took a risk in her mermaid-y feather and crystal adorned dress from Armani Prive.

5. Kelly Green

This colour is not for the faint of heart...it evokes images of St. Patty's day, which similarly involves parading, but probably a lot more beer. I hated both of these dresses, but at least the colour was DIFFERENT. For that, Irish eyes are smiling :)

And, now: THE WORST

1. Margot Robbie: When attending the Oscars, please do not dress up as one...even if you are wearing Tom Ford

2. Whoppie Goldberg: What?!? A horribly matronly dress which then show off your sleeve tattoo and what the heck is attacking your hand?

3. Olivia Wilde: We get it, you have your baby body back (in Versace)...we still wish you would have worn something more awesome and less I-raided-the-costume-department-from-the-latest-Star-Wars-movie.

4. Heidi Klum: Fire your stylists...wardrobe and hair...Barbie wants her dress back.

Spring has almost sprung (I know I am jumping the gun here, but a girl can dream right?!). So, while we may not be able to bust out the open-toed shoes any time soon, why not grab some of the latest and hottest jewellery trends for Spring to let you feeeeeeeeeeeel like a new season is just around the weather bend!

Here are 4 must-try jewellery trends, all pictured here from Montreal's own Tova Jewellery, designer and my sista' from another mist, Michelle Alfonso, for (almost) spring 2016:

1. Choke on it:

The choker is all the rage for this upcoming Spring! It's part elegant, part grunge circa 1991 and part fifty shades.

2. Bangin' bracelets:
We have had statement necklaces forever, but now it is time to bust out the statement bracelet! A cuff or bangles and you are totally bang-on.

3. Mismatched Ear-ware:
Can't find the matching earring? Don't sweat it. Mix 'em up on purpose for an endless array of possibilities.

4. Head Band Groupie:

Head bands are back with a vengeance and before you can say Blair Waldorf, you will be wanting to sport this trend day and night.

(That is the designer's daughter modelling!)

It's all about the music at the Grammys (except during Adele's performance...yeesh, somebody fire that sound guy), but for some of us the fashion is why we tune in!

This year was, what I like to call, a twinning year. One where people showed on the red carpet and had a match made in rockstar heaven...separated at fashion birth.

Here are the Grammy Twins of 2016:

1. Sparkle and Cover

These ladies, Adele and Meghan Trainor, both looked amazing and elegant in sparkly gowns that accentuated their waste and gave them each a fabulous fuller figure.

2. Clown Town

Is it my imagination or do they look like they work in the same toy factory?! I get that the Grammys are an event where weirdness should come out to play, but I found Janelle Monae and Dencia to be a little too Santa's-Workshop-in-Harujuku for me.

3. It's a Man's World

Double-breasted and suited up for this awards show, Demi Lovato and Zendaya both were channeling their inner-dude in their power-suit get-ups. I personally thought these were both ho-hum.

4. David Bowie Incarnate
Ziggy Stardust inspiration for a red carpet sounds like a good idea...although Lady Gaga's rendition custom made by Marc Jacobs was perhaps a little too literal?

5. Elvira/Mortisha
Bella Hadid in Alexandre Vauthier and Allessandra Ambrosio in Atelier Versace had it down to twin hair-dos and twin poses!

6. Skin Deep
Ciara and Swift both wore waaaaaaaaaay too much skin. Ciara's Alexandre Vauthier gown was ill-fitting and brutal, while Taylor Swift was giving a speech on being a role-model for girls everywhere looking like a very hungry Anna Wintour in a Versace postage stamp. Yuck x2.

Valentine's Day is around the corner and for those of us getting into the romantic spirit, there are outfits to plan! I think: why not?! Make a little extra effort. Grab a tube of red lipstick and one of these outfit recommendations for some extra va-va-voom on Valentine's Day.

1. Legs for Days

A short hem definitely helps evoke the imagination. Put on a skirt with flare for that innocent school girl vibe, and/or wear it with pumps for extra leg (I am ignoring that it is minus a million degrees out...you should, too).

2. Lacy Romance

Lace is elegant, sophisticated, and inherently romantic. Wear a short lacy dress for some major wow-factor (to combine #1 and #2).

3. Strap-On Leather (not like that!!!)

Leather is perfect for winter because it keeps you extra warm, but it also has the added benefit of being super-sexy (provided you don't have a Ross moment).

4. Off-the-Shoulder

The clavicle is the bees-knees and I have to say off-the-shoulder is a perfect way to show some skin for a romance holiday in February.

All set to rock his or her world? Yup! Valentine's Day is really just an excuse to show a little extra and make your significant other go hmmmmmm...

Fur is not a light topic in fashion. It brings about a lot of differing opinions and truthfully whether you do or don't do fur, faux is definitely an easy way to politically correctly get your fur-kick on.

So, here are four of my favourite ways to rock the faux:

1. Think Pink:

Celebrate the faux-ness and go for a colour that could never be real fur! It's no secret that pink is a favourite of mine and I think sporting faux fur in your favourite shade of this girly hue is feminine and totally fun.

2. Fuzzy Moto
The ultimate contrast of edge and fuzz, I love the fur-trimmed motorcycle jacket for that ideal fashion contradiction.

3. Feel my Tech:

Make everyone want to borrow your phone with a faux fur phone case!

4. The Cozy Neck

Whether it's a snood or a stole (like the awesome one pictured here from www.lechateau.com), a statement-making fur wrapped neckline is a great way to add drama and stay warm.
