Welcome to Llano County!

Llano County, established in 1856 with Llano as its county seat, spans 947 square miles in Central Texas. Bordered by the Colorado River and several counties, it is home to the Highland Lakes chain, vital for agriculture, recreation, and wildlife. The county’s diverse agricultural economy includes ranching, wildlife management, and small-scale farming, with cattle, goats, sheep, and pecans as key products. The growing season extends from early March to November with a mild climate and 27.59 inches of annual rainfall. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension supports local agriculture and youth development through research-based programs and partnerships.

Llano 4-H Consumer Decision Making Interest Meeting
There will be a Consumer Decision-Making Interest Meeting on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, @ 4:30 PM at the Llano Extension Office.
Through this contest, kids will learn how to save money while shopping as part of the consumer education project. Participants will learn how to compare prices, test quality, and make informed purchases based on facts and research. Kids will also improve their Money management skills, Smart purchasing skills, and decision-making skills.

Llano County Master Gardener Association

The Llano County Master Gardener Association is a community of gardeners. We are a non-profit educational and volunteer service organization. We are affiliated with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, an agency of Texas A&M University. We are a member of the Texas Master Gardener Association. We are friendly, fun, inclusive, and hard-working.

The Llano County Master Gardener program’s goal is to provide horticultural outreach, education programs, and services to the people of Llano County. Educational programs, open to you, are given at monthly general membership meetings and at community events. Our projects include design, native plantings, plant identification markers, and upkeep of Llano Depot Garden, Pioneer Park (at the side of Llano Museum), and Llano Library. We have a twice-yearly native plant and tree sale on the first Saturday of April and the first Saturday of October. Proceeds of donations and sales are used for our college scholarship program and to support our educational and beautification projects.

Our Master Gardener class begins in February of Odd Years. The application and more information are on our website. Check us out.

The Texas 4-H Junior Master Photographer (JMP) program is designed to develop youth in 7th through 12th grade as leaders in the 4-H photography project through a series of in-depth workshops and hands-on practice events.
