LPC are delighted to announce the award of a RoSPA Gold Medal for 2014. Paul Phillips, Commercial Director, pictured collecting the award in June said “we are extremely pleased to have the efforts of our work force and everyone involved with the business recognised with this, our third Gold Medal. The Gold Medal (7 consecutive Golds) award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) was presented during a ceremony at ExCeL London on June 17.

LPC Construction were pleased to have supported the UK Power Networks Community Challenge to provide a new footpath enabling improved access for less able bodied visitors and anglers to enjoy the open space and pond off Eastwick Drive in Bookham, Surrey. A number of new staff have been recruited to assist with LPC’s continued expansion. Hardi Kotak joins us as the Company Financial Controller to head up the growing finance department whist Albert Adeniran has made his position as SHEQ and Transport Manager permanent. Albert has worked in a consultancy capacity for LPC for many years and has been pivotal in helping to achieve full nationwide Lloyds NERS 33kV accreditation along with BS OHSHAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

September 2013 - LPC Construction Win UK Power Networks New Business

As part of its programme to upgrade the electricity link boxes in London, UK Power Networks have engaged the services of LPC to meet its targets. Supplying many of the required resources including an SAP (Senior Authorised Person), LPC have been successful in delivering safe and reliable replacement works in areas which contain a higher degree of risk and environmental sensitivity. These works continue alongside other link box projects currently underway in SPN (Southern Region). Further increases in the level of service provided have also occurred through the amount of LPC LV and HV fault support teams engaged on the SPN network.

LPC Construction continues to grow its business with SSE having completed in the spring/summer of 2013 11kV electricity infrastructure upgrade projects in Little Chalfont, and High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Both contracts involved the direct lay of high voltage cable using open cut trenching in the public highway. Acting as Principal Contractor under the 1997 CDM Regulations, LPC completed all civils, cabling, jointing and terminations. Other works which are ongoing for SSE are LV overlay schemes which have been carried out along the M4 corridor throughout 2013 to date and which are being implemented to reduce the amount of faults experienced on part of the network. LPC Construction Limited, of Watford, has had its approach to occupational safety and health recognised in an awards scheme run by the safety charity, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Gold Medal (6 consecutive Golds) award in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2013 was presented in a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday May 15, 2013.

Dating back 57 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. LPC Construction Limited has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”

LPC Construction Limited, of Watford, Hertfordshire, has had its approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health recognised in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2012.

The Gold Medal award was presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.

David Rawlins, awards manager at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity with a 95-year history, said: "The RoSPA Awards programme provides well-deserved recognition for the winners and spurs on other organisations to raise their standards of accident and ill health prevention. We congratulate LPC Construction Limited on its success and encourage it, and all our other winners, to remain committed to safety and health, an approach that is well recognised to be good for workers and the bottom line."

March 2012 - LPC Construction complete 33kV cable installation on behalf of SSE Power Distribution Ltd

LPC Construction have recently completed a 33kV cable installation on behalf of SSE Power Distribution Ltd in Witney, Oxfordshire. Acting as principal contractor under the CDM Regulations, the project was notable for a directional drill beneath the River Windrush. The contract included all jointing, terminations, redundant cable remediation and removal and associated substation works in relation to the commissioning of this high profile oil filled cable replacement scheme.

February 2012 - LPC Construction Awarded Plinth Construction Contract

LPC have been awarded the construction works on approximately 300no Schneider T200E and Lucy Gemini 2 plinths for the installation of free standing control units / RTU’s within Sub Stations contained within UK Power Networks Eastern and Southern regions.

These will ensure that the minimum fault duration time can be reduced from 75ms to 50ms to address the non-operation of some fault passage indicators when installed downstream of a circuit – breaker with instantaneous protection.

LPC are involved in the planning and construction works along with the fabrication of specialized steel formwork shutters. All personnel on the works are to hold the necessary UKPN sub-station access competencies and are assessed and approved by a Senior Authorised Person to supervise works within the sub-station.
