Hawaii Dept. of Water Supply Reports Emergency Water Outages

Hawaii Dept. of Water Supply reports emergency water outages for the affected areas of Kapoho to Pohoiki, Kalapana, Keaukaha, Downtown Hilo, Hilo Bayfront, Puako, Kawaihae, Alii Drive, and South Point road.

Hawaii Tsunami Update 6 am

A Tsunami is expected to hit Hilo about 11 am. The Tsunami was generated by a large 8.8 earthquake off the coast of Chiki around 8:30 pm last night. All people in evacuation zones are ordered to evacuate by no later than 10am and to stay off roads. Tune into local radio stations for updated news. Stay off roads.

8.8 Earthquake in Chile Puts Hawaii Under Tsunami Advisory

All the Hawaiian Islands are now under a Tsunami Warning as of 12:46 am HST An 8.8 earthquake off the coast of Chile around 8:30 Hawaiian time this evening. I stress that this is only an Advisory at this time. It is unknown if a wave is headed to Hawaii. There was a 10 ft wave generated, but again it is unknown the path the wave will be taking.

Hawaii Civil Defense Message: Poor Air Quality For Hawaii Island

Volcanic emissions and are having a negative impact on air quality island wide. National Weather Service forecasts wind conditions to stay the same through the holiday weekend. Residents should be prepared for possible exposure to emissions.
