Advertising is the lifeblood of any business, this applies local businesses as much as any other. If you do not advertise no one knows you exist.   I was going home after doing shopping in another part of Bristol and was waiting for my bus to leave another female got on the bus and asked if they were going to Staple Hill (the district I live in). She was told yes. She wanted to visit a curtain shop and I could tell her where to find it and where to get the bus back. I thought that this illustrated the above statement.

Local Internet Marketing Empire tells us that Yellow Pages, Television and Radio Advertising aren’t working anymore. It suggests that some might believe that local businesses have options as far as advertising to compensate for lost business.

Previously, this would have been true but not now, the “old” advertising methods just aren’t working anymore!

Places People Advertise Local Businesses

Yellow pages ads, while once the best way to advertise, are becoming much less responsive than ever before.

This is because the Internet has taken over as the premier place that people search for local information. Very few people use the yellow pages compared to the Internet!

Just as yellow page ads have seen a dramatic decrease in response, so have radio ads and to a lesser extent, television ads.

What’s even worse is that while response has gone down, the price of advertising with these old methods has actually gone up as a result of businesses scrambling to make up for lost income. This creates more competition.

So you have less responsive advertising at a higher price with more competition as a way of generating business.

That’s a pretty tough pill to swallow.

Many businesses even quite small ones have people working for them with whom they like to keep in touch and here again GVO scores over other businesses.

If it is help with their website i.e. how to set it up, etc the first thing you need is a Hosting Company. Butwhich one to choose. Many hosting companies charge one price when you only have a few websites hosted with them but much more when you increase the number.

The reason for this is that they have to rent the space they are providing to you, so what you want is one that does not do this because they own everything.

Most hosting companies  only provide this which means that you have to get a seperate autoresponder, which is the 2nd thing you must have. And most of them operate on the same principle i.e. more subscribers you have the more you pay them.

So what you want is one that supplies both and if they provide other services, such as the means to make videos, training on how to use things, etc, so much the better.

Welcome to Local Internet Markets Blog. Many business, both large and small are closing down. Small High Street shops are concerned and are turning to the internet. But when they do so they realise that they don’t know how to set up websites, blogs etc, or how to advertise so that those they want to tell about their business see the advert. Here is where you come into the picture.

Another is that they already know you.

There are no advertising costs to you, so you can charge them much less.

There are ways of promoting local businesses which do not require a lot of time from you.

Most local business know nothing about internet marketing or putting up a website.

You can easily find out if there is competition in your home town. Put “Internet Help for….. whatever you city is, mine is Bristol and all that came up was dictionaries of local businesses and a book, nothing to actually help local businesses with their internet business.

In the UK and I am sure the same thing applies in the US many small shops are closing down and putting the blame on the supermarkets.    People shop at the supermarket because it is quicker as they can get everything under one roof and usually cheaper than what it is in the local shop.   But people on the whole would rather shop in the local shop.

Once all the local shops have closed down the supermarkets will have the monopoly and can charge what they like and also sell food that no one can check and ask how it was grown, etc.
