Here’s a song that you’ll be hearing a lot sometime next year - Dísa’s Fast
Train. Lifted from a handmade four song demo E.P, this is one of two tracks
that Dísa performed in a special one-off performance for the Airwaves Podcast
at Iðnó a couple of days after she played there as part of the festival. Joining
her on guitar and vocals is Mads Mouritz.

Hafdís Huld performs Kónguló, the first single from her second album,

Rhode Island’s The Low Anthem have been riding a wave of critical acclaim
of late. The band recently reissued their 2009 LP Oh My God, Charlie Darwin
LP on Nonesuch and were in New York after playing at the Bonnaroo Festival
in Tennessee.

We had originally planned to shoot a song backstage at the Bowery Ballroom
(to circumvent the venue’s $500 fee for filming bands during soundcheck) but
time got away from us. We reconvened the following day between Ben’s
recording sessions in an Upper East Side courtyard. Jeff folded out his WWI
portable pump organ and with the minimum of accompanying instrumentation
the band ran through a majestic acoustic version of To The Ghosts Who Write
History Books.

Anvil, the finest 30-year old band that most of you have only recently heard
of produce a tear jerking moment then fokking destroy shit in an East Village
theater after the screening of their new documentary, Anvil! The Story of Anvil.
Introduced by the film’s director Sacha Gervasi as the “national fucking anthem
of heavy metal” the final song of Anvil’s set was none other than Metal on Metal.

Norway’s I Was A King end their soundcheck at Brooklyn’s Union Hall with
Breathe and this tune, Step Aside. Both are taken from fab their self titled
album.

Norwegian power pop quartet, I Was A King run through a stripped down

Mames Babegenush perform a medley consisting of La Luna and Moldovenyaska
in a rehearsal room in Århus’ Musikhuset. The band had just played a barnstorming
show so this was a nice warm down.

After playing at the past couple of Spot Festivals, Århus’ Munich sat out the
2009 edition. We first came to know the band via their summer hit The Young
Ones. We caught up with Mikael Kærsgaard, the band’s songwriter and front
man who ran through an acoustic rendition of an unreleased track that’s set to
feature on the band’s forthcoming record.
