Those who visit Macca's website can sign up to receive a live MP3 of the track 'Let Me Roll It' via e-mail and view a performance video of the song 'Highway,' which was originally released under his side-project the Fireman last year.

The project was recorded live during McCartney's historic opening performances at Queens, N.Y.'s Citi Field, which replaced Shea Stadium. "It was three great nights for the band and for me personally it was very exciting to be back opening a new stadium on the site of the old Shea Stadium where we had played 44 years previously," McCartney said, referring to the Beatles' famed 1965 concert. "Even more exciting because this time round you could hear us!"

McCartney's historic New York gigs were witnessed by 120,000-plus attendees this year. A deluxe version of the project will include a bonus DVD of Sir Paul's traffic-stopping, headline-making July 15 performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee for the 'Late Show with David Letterman.' It promises bonus numbers not aired on the Letterman
Met fans everywhere are suffering an existential pain that has no remedy. In the workplace, in my family, in my neighborhood...people keep asking me the same question: am I rooting for the Yankees or the Phillies?

The prevailing opinion seems to be that Met fans should root for the Spankees. I disagree. I have no interest in seeing A-roids win a title. And Chan Ho Park and Pedro really deserve a ring after the great years they've had.

The truth for Met fans - we can't win. This was not our year, never meant to be our year, and I'm fairly confident next year's not our year either. Given the way our collective luck has been going, I wouldn't be surprised if the World Series ended in a tie and both our hated rivals ended up with banners to hold over our sorry heads.

So find something else to do the next seven to ten days. Here's a start. Watch this clip of Martha Quinn interviewing Roger McDowell and a remarkably svelte Lenny Dykstra, who makes things very uncomfortable about 55 seconds into the interview. I'll keep finding more distractions in the coming days, while I sit up here in Loge13 contemplating Life, the Universe and Everything:

Of course, we all are aware of Steve's previous antics when he had one of the best jobs in baseball. Met staffer Rosa Rodriguez sued for sexual harassment, Steve took a leave of absence and the case got settled. The Wilpons stood by their troubled GM, despite the troubles the behavior caused the team (some things never change).

Now comes word that ESPN has suspended Phillips for a week after admitting to an affair with Brooke Hundley. The details are very ugly. Five months ago, no team would even give him a second look, at least not at the money Pedro was asking.

But Martinez is not the only ex-Met on the Phillies roster today. Miguel Cairo also made the cut. Cairo had started the season with the Phillies, but then got sent down to Triple-A in May. He was recalled in August and finished the year hitting .267 in 27 games.

Then there is Chan Ho Park, who got added to the roster Wednesday after Brett Myers was deemed too banged up to be effective. Park pitched a scoreless inning last night and may even get a start. Pedro and Park. In 2007, they were done. In 2009, they are playing for a chance at the big show. Go figure.

By the way, if you missed it, here is the highlight from Chan Ho Park's lone appearance for the Mets in 2007 at glorious Shea Stadium:

A track meet, 4-year-old soccer. Four more soccer games for my 9-year-old. And fall baseball for my oldest son. I just tallied it up - we lost every single game, but my middle son won second place in his cross-country meet.

But I couldn't let the weekend pass without lighting a candle for WFAN - the studio, not the station.

If you listened this week, you know that starting October 10th, WFAN would begin broadcasting in Manhattan. The on-air folks waxed nostalgic all week...to the point where a few times, I actually wondered if they were going off the air.

Steve Somers was especially respectful of the history contained in the dingy Long Island City studios from which the first all-sports radio station was birthed.

The Shea Stadium comparisons were obvious. "This place is a dump, but it's our dump,'' Joe Benigno, told Newsday.

The move may be good for WFAN but it will be a blow to local business in Queens. Plus they changed all the call-in numbers from (718) to toll-free 877 numbers. As one caller mentioned on the air, toll free numbers aren't usually free on most cell phone carriers so WFAN is not doing too many folks any favors.

So the old WFAN studios are deserted tonight. Some say if you go there and listen real close, you can here the ghost of Chris Russo sobbing "Take me back!"

They said Shea Stadium was gone for good.

But Shea Stadium has returned. This time it's in Bushwick, Brooklyn. And instead of baseball, it's all about the music, baby.

According to an article in BushwickBK.com DIY music studio named Shea Stadium opened last spring to help cut young bands a break.

"Named after the former home of New York's major league underdogs, a new
all-ages music venue in East Williamsburg provides a unique service for
Brooklyn's young, start-up bands. Instead of receiving pay, all bands
that play shows at Shea score a professionally mixed live recording of
their set.

With its graffiti-tagged white brick walls, stage constructed of cheap
lumber, semi-busted toilet, and exposed pipes running across its
not-quite low ceilings, Shea Stadium has all the attributes of a
Brooklyn DIY venue. And, in keeping with the scene's values -- and the
club's namesake -- aesthetics fall a far second to what's actually being
accomplished in the space. In addition to helping young bands dodge the
prohibitive cost of booking studio time, Reich and his partners are
constructing "a public library of recordings" on a terabyte hard drive.
While that library is focused on the bands, it's by all means inclusive
of that element that makes Brooklyn DIY so great: community.

At Shea, the crowd is part of the set, which is ultimately part of the
archive. Microphones dangled from pipes at the back of the venue's main
performance space -- just beyond the plexiglass window of Reich's mixing
booth -- hone in on the crowd's audible interactions with the band. It
might not occur to listeners accustomed to studio albums, but capturing
the energy of the crowd at a boisterous show is nearly as important as
recording the band itself.

After a few exhibition shows to work out the kinks in sound recording,
Shea Stadium hosted its official opening day on Friday, May 22nd. A
four-act, all-ages benefit for the broadsheet concert calendar Showpaper,
the crowd on opening night -- both on stage and in the audience -- was on
the younger side. The audience was raucous, especially for the
headliners, an accordion-fronted band called Whack, but the vibe was
communal, inclusive, and appreciative."

Of course, it wouldn't be Shea without some controversy. The space was evidently co-founded by a Pat Shea, who apparently was booted by his partners. The namesake writes in the comments to this article:

Doesn't it make more sense to have Pat Shea living and working at Shea
Stadium? Yeah. I know. I like how I'm mentioned absolutely NOWHERE at
all. That place wouldn't have opened it's doors if it wasn't for me and
my good friends building tirelessly for nothing. No one else involved
had the time to put into it like I did.

Pat Eponymous also threatens legal action against Shea Stadium and recommends no one go there.

Dysfunctional. Aesthetically challenged. Hard to get to. Yup, that's Shea Stadium all right! Rock on Shea.
