Sams Sonor Kit - Lovingly sampled acoustic drum kit. Very well recorded and put together.

Modular Samples - Mind blowingly good samples, some free some premium. All good!

Omega Art - A piano and six volumes of collected samples, along with a huge selection of misc synths and stuff. It says it's password only, but it worked for me without one! There's so much here I haven't had a chance yet to check all the links and samples. Will get back to you.

Morph Productions - These guys are giving away some timpani and harpsichord sounds samples from the mighty Korg Triton

Ontology - I think I've grabbed everything off of this site..some weird and wonderful stuff - recommended!

Audio Propellor - Members only so you gotta sign up. I haven't, because I can't keep track of passwords and usernames and stuff, so I can't tell you how good it is :(

Hi folks!

I was shocked to find nearly a year gone by since my last apology for not updating this blog.

I've been sidetracked by all kinds of stuff, but have finally got things together enough that I'll making some changes here and bring this whole blog up to date again.

I know that there's loads of you looking at the blog and grabbing the sample packs...I hope find them useful...thanks for sticking around, and keep your eye out for some new products coming soon.

I was unable to manage the mailing list and shop in the way I wanted to so please do not bother with the links to them in previous posts...just my inexperience at dealing with such things, so my apologies again for that!

I have learned lots of lessons and hope to have a much more professional set up on the go soon...still with lots of free stuff though, don't worry!

Hi Fiends!

Sorry for the embarrassing interruption of service here lately. I think it's time to open up and tell you exactly what's been going on.

Firstly, traffic here has gone through the roof...I'm getting so many downloads of all this stuff, it's insane!

Secondly, I've had to give up work to look after my wife, who had a kidney transplant at the end of Nov last year (2009 for those who dwell in other times).

The upshot of this is, that I don't have much income, but I have a fair bit of time at home.

I'd been trying to move into the premium samples market - but I simply don't have the cash and free time to get the highest quality gear that I'd need to make the audio pro quality. I also can't get out and about in the way I'd like to hunt down the sounds I'd like to record for you guys.

So, out of frustration I'd been trying different things to keep this blog alive, whilst also making money (!!) and keeping my sanity.

I made a few mistakes, and I own up to those!

But I've done a lot of research and a lot of thinking, and I think I've come up with a plan.

To avoid the "feeding frenzy" downloads that I've been getting here..I'll be setting up mailing list for the blog. The samples won't be posted up as free for alls....this is not a judgment on you guys, it's for two positive reasons.

1 - I can keep the downloads going and not have to cut them off because of fines from my ISP.

2 - I can email you occasionally about other things I'm up to that you might be interested in.

I know the second part probably doesn't sound that enticing...but I'm working on a whole bunch of products and services for musicians, ranging from free articles, downloads and advice, to larger scale projects...books, and even music courses.

If you are interested in knowing about these projects (there is absolutely no commitment to anything by signing up - most stuff will be free, and anything that is not will be entirely optional, no pressure at all to buy (you won't receive any pressuring "sales" type emails...the mailing list will be purely an information thing!)

If you are interested in being on the list to find out about the new sample sets, as well as my other projects, please email me on muso.dave@googlemail, with a subject line saying something like "exs24 instruments" and ask to be added to the list.

I hate to ask this, but...as the number of downloads here steadily increases - or in fact jumps up massively as it has this month (can anyone figure out why? I can't see any new links or anything in the stats...) , the prospect of having to pay for extra bandwidth rears it's ugly head.

So I respectfully ask for any small donation to help with this cost - it is by no means compulsory, and I will still be posting up new FREE sample sets (working on some right now!). So if you feel in the mood to

a small amount, it would be used only to upgrade my hosting and make sure I don't have to have a cutoff point for downloads towards the end of the month (my host doesn't fine me outright luckily, they give me warnings so I can remove the links, but it's quite a lot of work to change 20 or so urls twice a month to avoid the fine.)

The cost of upgrading my web hosting is not huge, but it would be really lovely if it could be (even partly) funded by a little good will from you guys.

As I said - there is still new stuff on the way, and I won't be taking anything away...just need to ask as I'm approaching my bandwidth limit!

I am writing two books, both aimed at electronic (or computer based) musicians/composers who either have little or no music theory knowledge, but DO have experience of making music.

One is a music theory tutorial, designed to help people who already make music understand the theory behind what they do - and show them that it's not scary, and that learning it will not change their music for the worse - in fact it will give your creativity a boost!

The other is a collection of tips and techniques on improving many aspects of your music making process - from making the best of your ideas, trying different working methods and new ways of thinking about the creative process.

I think there's room for improvement here, once again it works best used as something other than an attempt at replicating a slide guitar.
That said, you can coax some interesting pad sounds out of it - I'm not finding it great for lead guitar type passages. Suggestions for alterations and improvements are very welcome as always!

I'll be having a little change around of my webpages, to bring everything together and focus more on my "products" than myself soon, at which point I'll also be asking for volunteers to help run and maintain this project, as I'm embarking on another massive and potentially hazardous journey into cyberspace.
The shop will be expanded, and possibly even take over, as my musical endeavours are taking a back seat due to the popularity of these samples, as well as some other projects.
Check back here soon, as exciting things are afoot!

(Oh and by the way, these exs24 sampler libraries have been downloaded over 1000 times so far this year - too many to count last year - so thank you and keep checking back, and spread the word!)

In the right hands a recorder can do almost anything....in keyboard form it can literally be played by your hands!

No messing about blowing into a plastic doodad - this sample set will save you possibly hours of relatively simple practice time.

I've sampled lots of natural and artificial harmonics, as usual recorded clean on my luvverly Gibson sg, not that I'm boasting that my wife bought me it as a present and it was the best present ever or anything.

All the samples are recorded clean, as 24bit wavs. The whole chromatic scale is covered - no cheeky pitch shifting to use samples more than once...as always with my instruments, every note is a fresh sample!

Yes it's been a while, but interesting things have been happening chez Dave.

This is an updated, higher quality, extended and expanded version of the Ebow guitar that was posted on here before.

All the samples are new, including downtuned notes going down to a low B and up to the highest C on the fretboard.
All recorded on a Gibson SG, with no fx. All samples are 24bit wavs. The zipped file is 120MB but expands out to 330MB.
