I hope you are enjoying reading these mommy chic posts as much as I enjoy writing them. My son is my entire life and it is only fair that he is part of my blog as well. Here we are off to family event. I wanted to be super comfortable but still summer chic, so I wore this maxi skirt I purchased at Marshall's a couple of weeks ago... and since I was going with my hubby I wore my heels! Super comfy ones but still. Ben wore the most adorable bermuda style shorts that my mom bought for him. He was a little crancky, hence his serious face, because I woke him up from his nap!

Mi hijo es mi todo por eso decidi ponerlo aqui una vez a la semana ya que el es obviamente parte de mi dia a dia. Aqui estabamos en camino a un evento familiar. Ben recien se habia levanta por eso estaba un poco serio. Quize ponerme algo comodo pero chic por eso decidi ponerme esta falda maxi pero con mis sandalias de tacos ya que fui con mi esposo y el me ayudo a correr detras de Ben. Ben se puso unos short estilo bermuda que mi mami le compro.

Even though I am not very tall at all! I am 5'1'' I love to wear maxi dresses and skirts, I think that if you wear them with wedges or heels they look just fab on everyone. And I love the bit of bohemian chic vibe that they give out. I styled this fab little skirt with black to give a contrast. I wore one of my favorite cross body bags from Olivia + Joy, they have some pretty fab handbags, that I just love! This bag is such a classic, it can go with everything. Every woman needs one in her closet!

Aunque soy un poco chiquita de estatura me encanta ponerme faldas y vestidos maxi, me parece que dan un look chic y bohemio que me encanta. Combine este look con colores negros para un contraste. Life's a Beach

Living in NJ I like to take advantage of summer and every chance I get I head down to the beach. We left super early and headed to one of my favorite beaches with my hubby. It was great going just the 2 of us, I always make it a point to have just me + him time. We started celebrating my birthday early... And this day was exactly what I needed.

Viviendo en NJ cuando llega el verano, me encanta aprovechar de cada momento que puedo irme a la playa. Y eso fue exactamente lo que hize. Aprovechamos y tuvimos un dia en la playa los dos solo, mi esposo y yo, empezamos a celebrar mi cumpleanos. Y fue exactamente lo que yo necesitaba.

I wore this little dress as a beach cover up but it really is a dress to wear out. I bought this dress years ago for a trip to Greece with my husband. Back then I was much skinnier and it fit like a glove.. I always loved this dress so I never wanted to get rid of it. I kept it in my closet and have worn it now 3 different ways. Just goes to shoe you how you can 'recycle' your clothes!

Este vestido que me puse en realidad no es de playa, es un vestido de salir. Lo compre hace mucho tiempo para un viaje que hize a Grecia con mi esposo. Yo era mucho mas flaca en el 2010 y me quedaba como anillo al dedo. Siempre me encanto este vestido por eso nunca lo regale. Sigue en mi closet y me lo he puesto de 3 maneras diferentes. Para que vean que se puede reciclar hasta la ropa!

Here I am in Greece in 2010 and I wore it again in 2011 as a top while I was 7 1/2 months pregnant... I love the print. So the morning we were getting ready for the beach I decided to wear it once again, this time, as a cover up! And I still love it as much as I did 3 years ago.

Aqui estoy en Grecia en el 2010 y de ahi en el 2011 con 7 meses y medio de embarazo. Me encanta el estampado del vestido. La manana de el viaje a la playa decidi ponermelo de nuevo esta vez como cover up. Y me encanta hoy tanto como hace 3 anios.

And as always protect your skin! Not just when you are at the beach or the pool... And not just on your body ...Don't forget to wear your facial SPF daily! I wear mine every morning in my moisturizer. And I wear a hat every single time I go to the beach. It is so important to protect our skin ladies! My body and face never match lol - my face is always much lighter so I wear bronzer every time I put my makeup on. You can see a little bit of that in this photo.

Como siempre, no se olviden de protejer su piel. No solo cuando van a la playa o piscina. Y no solo su cuerpo, tambien protejan su cara a diario. Yo use mi SPF en mi suavizador facial todos los dias, hasta en invierno. Es muy importante protejernos la piel. Mi cuerpo y cara nunca combinan por eso cada vez que me maquillo me pongo bronceador.

Summer is all about bbq's, parties, events, beach days, ice cream and most importantly family! I've had a handful of projects that I have been working on daily but my most important "event" right now is my son's 2nd birthday party coming this summer. I am so excited to put it all together, I can't wait! We had an afternoon full of things to do and finally booked my son's birthday party place - I decided to wear my comfortable Zara pants and my all time fave heels this weekend for a day full of errands.

El verano se trata de bbq's, fiestas, eventos, la playa, helados y hamburguesas pero mas important de la familia! Tengo unos cuantos porjectos en cuales estoy trabajando pero el mas importante horita para mi es el segundo cumpleanos de mi hijo. Lately it feels more like April than June ... I love the rain but I think we need a break from it now. I had a fashion show (A Night in Rio) to attend here in New Jersey last week and since the days here have been cloudy and rainy on I thought this top was just right to wear with these tuxedo pants that I love. This past Wednesday was my husband's and I's 4th wedding anniversary. It has been truly an amazing 4 years and I couldn't have married a more perfect man for me. Mommy Chic: The Baby Loafers

As a fashionista I love dressing up but I also enjoy putting outfits together for my handsome and sweet son! We went out to dinner on Friday night and here is what we wore!

Como toda una fashionista me encanta vestirme y ponerme tacos pero tambien disfruto vestir a mi hermoso hijo. Miren los que nos pusimos para salir a cenar el dia Viernes.

It is always a hectic 5 minutes when we try to take pics with Ben, as any toddler he just wants to run wild when we are outside! This is the best we got and I think he just looks adorable!

That was my story with hi-lo skirts - I have been wanting one for so long and could't find the right one.... until I saw this one at Forever 21, of course. I loved the material and look of it. It fit ME perfect.

I wore this to the Old Navy Fall Preview Event a couple of weeks ago, it was the perfect attire for a very warm and sticky evening. The flowy skirt gave me the comfort I needed and the swirly cuff was the perfect accent on this humid day! I don't like to wear too many accessories when it's humid out.

Warning: Picture Overload

Last Saturday I attended the wedding of my beautiful friend and blogger Nadia from NacStyles in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. When it came time to look for a dress I knew I wanted something bright, cheerful and happy... just like the Caribbean. I looked high and low for the perfect dress. I love to be in style and feeling fabulous but always comfortable. And when it came to combining those 3, I actually had a really difficult time finding that perfect combo. I went to so many malls and stores... the dresses were either too long (no time to hem it), not cute, too casual... or my least fave, too expensive!

So last minute I decided to go to my ultimate go-to store: JCPenney. This was actually the first store I had visited but didn't find anything at the time... because I ONLY looked at the "dresses" section... when I went to pay one of the dresses I had settled for I turned around and saw this amazing yellow dress. It was love at first sight. I immediately ran to grab it and try it on but it was too small. The price was beyond a bargain, it was $60, I couldn't believe my eyes, the fabric of this dress is a dream! We ordered a size bigger and waited and waited.... and waited. I received my dress at 3 pm on Wednesday and my flight was set to take off on Thursday at 7 am. So this was do or die for me. It HAD TO fit!

I tried it on... and guess what? It was tight as ever. The fitting room attendant had so much difficulty zippering it up. But I forced her to. So I took the dress home and prayed for the best. When we got to DR I had no rice, no potatoes, no pasta or bread and believe me it worked! The day of the wedding came and it zippered so smoothly. How I felt inside of it was a different story! I could barely breath when we were at the ceremony... Gosh the things we do for beauty! Thankfully later on in the night the dress seemed to mold into my body and it actually didn't bother me anymore. We danced the night away... It was such a beautiful wedding! And I felt fabulous in my $60 dress.

The dress comes with a more casual belt, a fab belt but too casual for the occasion. So I added this crystal belt from Anthropology.And accented with neutral colored accessories for a clean look.

Originally I was going to do a nude lip but I got wild and wore Russian Red by MAC. It gave me the confidence I always feel when I wear my red lipstick.

Dear Summer...

As you know if you follow me on Instagram (@lolabluethecloset) I was away for the past few days on a mini vacation for my friend's wedding in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I do have a couple of posts from my short stay there but those will come later on. I arrived back in NJ on Sunday and thank God I did the weather here in NJ was absolutely gorgeous on Monday for Memorial Day. We relaxed pretty much the whole morning and had an amazing lunch with my boys and then headed out to our friends' house for a BBQ.

Si es que me siguen en Instagram (@lolabluethecloset) sabran que estuve en unas cortas vacaciones por Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana la semana pasada para atender la boda de mi amiga. Tengo unas cuantas fotitos de mi estadia pero antes de poner esas quise poner estas de el Dia de Memoria a los veteranos de la guerra. El clima en NJ estuvo bello el dia Lunes, nosotros tuvimos una manana tranquila, almorzamos rico y en la tarde salimos para un BBQ en casa de unos amigos.

Review: New Beech-Nut / Goya Baby Food

As I have mentioned before I wanted to start talking more about my son and incorporating him in at least a weekly post. He is obviously part of my everyday life and the biggest accomplishment I have had. So from now on, as you have seen in the past 2 weeks, he will be featured on the Mommy Chic posts as well as some baby product reviews.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the new Beech-Nut/Goya baby foods and I must say I was not disappointed. My son is a picky eater, therefore whenever he LOVES a certain food, we stick to it and add more and more as time goes by. I was a little nervous about him refusing the baby food but he actually really loved it. As soon as I gave him the first spoonful he said: Mmmmm! The first one we tried was the Peach/Mango flavor. And he didn't leave a drop! Here he is enjoying the delicious fruit puree.

As a mommy, I am constantly reading reviews and ingredients on different products. And I taste everything I give my son, every single thing. Even his medicine. As a first time mom I feel like I am learning every day still and I try to do my best. So when it came to giving him the Beech-Nut/Goya I didn't hesitate. There is something about a brand that is so well known that makes me feel at ease. My mom has been using Goya products since I could remember... and I didn't have a doubt the baby food would be delicious. It tasted very natural and like pure fruit. Not like other brands when you can taste the fake fruit and just the processed product. I truly feel comfortable feeding my son this baby food because it is a familiar brand and an all natural food, that has been trusted in my family for years.

I am so happy my son loved every bit of it. Mommy Chic: The Thomas Tee

Over the weekend my son had a 1st birthday party to attend. I love dressing him in cute little outfits. This time he was going to wear a red/blue button down with these white pants and cute moccasins. The theme of the party was "little man" so I thought it was perfect for the occasion. Well Ben has started to have an opinion all of his own and since Mickey Mouse is now so last season when he saw his new Thomas the Train shirt I bought him that morning, he immediately wanted to wear it. Well let's just say that I let him with the battle and put the button down back in the closet... he was even hugging his Thomas tee, I couldn't say no, he is so cute my little man. So I made it work with these white pants and fun newspaper boy hat. These are my favorite hats for boys! They are so chic.

El fin de semana pasado mi bebe fue invitado a una fiestita de primer anio. A mi me encanta vestirlo con ropa infantil pero un poquito hechado a lo hombre grande. Para esta ocasion se supone que se iba a poner un a camisa de botones roja y azul, pero en cuanto vio esta camiseta de Thomas immediatamente perdi la batalla de la camisa y... pues Thomas gano. Hasta abrazaba a su camiseta nueva. Asi que igual se la puse con este pantaloncito blanco. Me derrite el corazon mi hijo bello.

Summer is not even here yet but in the fashion world they are always ahead of schedule and one and two seasons ahead of the game! And Old Navy is no exception. I was invited to the Fall 2013 Collection Preview yesterday and it was so much fun. I love coming to events like these mostly because I love meeting new people and making new connections, new ideas, new inspirations and and mostly because I get to see the next season's collections before anyone else. You guys are going to love pretty much every.single.piece. From the women's clothing to the kids and of course the men's clothing. It was so well styled, I loved so many pieces and can't wait to style them myself this coming fall. The new collection is definitely much more detailed than what you are used to seeing. There were gorgeous prints and delicate jewel details on some pieces as well. I took a ton of photos, I hope you like them.

El verano ni acaba de llegar, pero en el mundo de la moda siempre estan adelantados. Caso en punto... el evento que asisti anoche de la coleccion de Old Navy para este Otono 2013. Me encanta venir a estos eventos no solo son divertidos pero tambien son buenas oportunidades de conocer a personas. Pero lo que mas me gusta es que puedo ver las colecciones de ropa antes que nadie! Les va a encantar toda la coleccion esta muy chic y con muchos detalles, desde estampados fabulosos hasta detalles de joyerias en algunas piezas. Tome muchas fotitos asi que espero que les guste.

I am one of those people that buys clothes and realizes a year later that it is in the closet. It is a very bad habit and well that was the case with this amazing hi-lo skirt that I bought at a little boutique in my local mall. I bought it literally last summer and just found it last week with tags and all. I was so happy to see this skirt, the color is perfect and the style is so calling for summer!

As you may have noticed I love to have my hair down. Wild + free and mostly with soft curls... But I wanted to change it up a bit so I tied it back and added some gold accents to make this look super tropical and very summer fab! I am so glad I found this pretty skirt! I felt so wonderful in this outfit I even told my husband I wish I could wear it everyday, the flow of the skirt along the breezy evening was just perfection to me. It made me feel ubber feminine and elegant.

My Mother's Day Dress

Being a mommy is my best and most proud task, it is the most rewarding yet most difficult job in the world, in my opinion. The happiness is un-measurable but so are the worries. As a first time mom I constantly wonder if I am doing a good job or praying that my son is always healthy and happy. For mother's day I had an amazing Sunday, we had a fantastic lunch at home and just spent the evening with my amazing mom and all the moms in my family, nothing better for me than spending some family time. I am so honored to be able to celebrate this special day my beautiful mom and my adorable son.

Ser mama es mi maypr logro y de lo que mas estoy orgullosa. Mi hijo es mi vida y adoracion. Ser mama es el trabajo mas hermoso pero tambien mas dificil, en mi opinion. After spending some time with my boys on Saturday for a pre-Mother's day lunch, I had a baby shower to attend in the evening. I decided to go with a real simple dress for a chic and classy look. This dress originally came without a belt so I added a belt for a blouson look. And kept the accessories to a minimum by simply adding earrings and a cuff.

Despues de el almuerzo que tuve con mid dos amores, tuve que asistir a un baby shower. Quize estar comoda pero chic y un poquito elegante, por eso decidi vestirme de un color beige clarito. Le anadi una correa a el vestido para darle un poquito mas de silueta. Y me puso pocos accesorios, tan solo aretes y una pulsera.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Out of all my duties and responsibilities, being a MOM to my son is my number 1 priority. My favorite task, my favorite job and the best of past times. It isn't always easy but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

From the moment he was born I became something I had never been before, not just a woman but a mother. The love for a child is absolutely the most selfless kind of love. And he has taught me love, I have became a lioness to my cub, I've laughed when I wanted to cry, and most of all patience, oh the patience jajaja.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't thank my God for the most amazing little boy, the smartest, the silliest and most handsome boy I ever laid my eyes on. He makes everything worth it.

I am the happiest woman I have ever been because I his mom.

A little bohemian chic...

I have been a very busy girl lately. Just this past Saturday I had 3 events in one day. My amazing friend's baby shower, family's first communion and lastly a jewelry party. So I wanted to wear something super easy and that would be perfect for all 3 events, since they were all back to back. So of course I chose a gorgeous maxi dress - from which I own in two colors, that's how much I love it!

If you are into fashion then you know the Celine bag is the IT bag to have right now. I drool over every single design they have. But my bank account realistically cannot afford it! I rather go on a vacation. But don't doubt it, I dream of a Celine nightly... so I am hoping one day I can get my little hands on one forever.
