As the time for semi finals and finals is getting closer summoners around the world gather together to enjoy their favourite eSport, League of Legend.

Greek viewing parties are sprouting like Teemo's mushroons giving the ability to the fellow Greek summoners enjoy the #Worlds action along with their friends.

It is also nice to see that Greece appears to be one of the countries with the most registered viewing parties especially if you consider its population. Specifically Greece is the second country when looking at the number of Viewing Parties just after U.S.

Solo Queue: Trolls vs Motivation and Rewards

There are actually two opinions: a) ELO HELL does not exist, and b) ELO HELL is everywhere. I tend to a agree with both and no one of them. Actually depends on the amount of trolling in each division. But, why there is so much trolling?

Welcome to ELO HELL

I would say that people troll because they are bored, they want to revenge a previous troll, it is more fun and in general because there is not enough motivation to try hard and enjoy the game through wining. This is where Riot has failed in Solo Q. There is not enough motivation for trying hard, and that is mostly due to the balance between rewards for trying and penalties for trolling.

A simple example. You believe you are a Platinum player and you will be pleased with yourself if you reach Platinum by the end of Season 3 (That is your personal goal as a summoner). You try hard, you pick your best heroes and TA-TA you are Platinum.

TA-TA Platinum. Congratulations!

Congratulations! From that point on, you have reached your goals and you do not try hard anymore. You pick champions that you have never played before, you do not care that much if you will win or not and you are even sometimes trolling with a couple of friends. Why? Because you achieved your personal goals and there is not motivation for you any more. In addition, the price for losing a game because you did not play well is -10 League points. Who cares...

In the first place Riot should care. Some of the few words that come in mind when you listen about League of Legends is: competitive and eSports. But how you give summoners motivation to keep the game competitive? Rewards!

Getting a Ribbon

I believe that the current reward system in solo Q fails to give motivation to summoners. The rewards announced for the end of the season are great, but that is once a year. Ribbons were a nice idea, but the way they work did not bring the expected result. I am sure you can name several perfect games without a single ribbon or even a good word from your team. So there are two things to keep motivation: a)rewards and b) their frequency.

The frequency should be a reasonable amount of time where summoners could reach some mini goals, so lets say a week or even two. The rewards can get a little more complicated. They should answer the question "What motivates people to play League of Legends?". The most obvious answer is fun, but fun has a broad meaning. Each and everyone has a different perception of fun. For someone can be skins or more champions or recognition or ways to show off etc. As HotshotGG said World of Warcraft has a nice reward system with weekly awarding of points that you can spend on items, but I do not necessarily agree with a system that gives good players even more advantage over worst ones (snowballing through item rewards). However, I do believe that some kind of achievement system could work for League of Legends. Easily or hardly achievable achievements with rewards such as skins or ward skins or fan art or even summoner titles could assist in solving the motivation problem in solo Q.

What I have seen through my experience in games there are two kind of players: the casual and the hardcore. Casual players play with their friends for a few hours a week to have fun, and I think they are players that mostly play normal games. Hardcore players on the other hand, play competitively and in my opinion the number one thing they want is to show off how good they are. So maybe giving them something to be proud of could reduce the amount of trolling due to lack of motivation.

How to play 5vs5 custom games with the same champions

Have you seen the hilarious video with 5vs5 custom games with the same champions? If not you can check the link below!

Do you want to do the same? It is simple! Just follow the instructions below (use the modification at your own risks, in the worst case scenario you will need to repair LoL):

First download http://dl.wintermint.net/ClientLibGame.dat
Then copy it to C:\Riot Games\RADS\projects\lol_air_client\releases\0.01.51\deploy\lib. (You can back up the existing file if you wish for later use)
Open the client and create a custom game. The new custom game will be a duplicate pick game regardless of you actual chouce of mode.

Notes:

You may run into problems if someone leaves during champion select.
Do not lock your champions because the game might crush. Just wait for the time to finish

SK vs Fnatic @ IEM Katowice. A game worth watching!

SKGaming vs Fnatic.Raidcall.@ IEM Katowice Group Stage - Day 2
The winner moves to the next stage while the loser gets home. Both teams were ready to fight for the victory. The lineups :

Fnatic.Raidcall : Kha'Zix, Caitlin, Zaira, Kassadin and Rammus

SK Gaming: Olaf, Cho'Gath, Elise, Ezreal, Janna

With one quick look :

SK got an early advantage which they managed to snowball to up to 7k.
SK took objectives in mid game by landing stuns on Fnatic members and picking up kills.
Rammus was to weak with few minions and no kills.
Fnatic managed to stay in the game by taking a few dragons and towers.
SK are unable to make any big move on the map although they have the advantage.
Fnatic are starting to win team-fights.
Fnatic are getting objectives (Baron, Towers, Inhibitor).
In the epic final few minutes Fnatic xPeke wins the game for his team with an amazing play.

The game up to the 20th minute has few points to mention.
1. Rammus was unable to make any gang while at the same time he was falling behind in farm.
2. SK were getting a slight advantage over Fnatic getting a couple of towers and kills

In the mid game SK were strong
, took advantage of the Fnatic misspossitioning (Rammus and Caitlin) by picking easy stuns with Cho'Gath's and Elise's abilities and turned them to uncontested objectives such as towers and inhibitors turning their advantage to 7k gold. With Rammus getting instant killed in every fight and Cho'Gath-Olaf looking so strong the game was looking over already. However, SK they did not keep the pressure up , giving opportunities to Fnatic to take uncontested Dragons and the mid tower keeping them in game by keeping the gold difference at 4-5k. Up to the the 40th minute SK were not able to translate their advantage to Inhibitors or Baron.

This is the point were Fnatic are starting to win fights slightly and taking objectives for themselves. They started taking down towers, Baron and even the mid Inhibitor up to the point the game looked even. The gold count was the same and the map was almost the same for both teams.

At this games epic finale everything happened so fast and the action did not stop for a single second. SK won the team-fight and they are taking baron while xPeke's Kassadin was back-dooring the middle inhibitor for second time. SK were fast and by taking advantage of Home guard Boots and Cho's boots of mobility they were able to kill Kassadin after a 1 minute chase. Everything was looking over for Fnatic. With xPeke down, Rammus too weak and 5 member of SK outside of their base with Baron buff. SK took bot Inhibitor, Middle tower and Inhibitor and they were heading for the top lane looking really strong. However, sOaz with his Kha'zix was able to assassinate Ezreal and in the skirmish followed Ocelote's Elise died as well.

Fnatic are chasing down the retreating SK team and they are looking to steal the game. With all-members up they are trying to get the 2 Nexus towers while Cho-Olaf-Janna are delaying them and with Elise and Ezreal needing 20 more seconds to respawn. When both Nexus turrets were down Elise and Ezreal respawned and in the team fight that follows SK win. With sOaz and Zaira dead and xPeke with 20% HP and chased by Cho everything seemed over for Fntic for 2nd time in the game. But xPeke had a different opinion.

He proved he is one of the best players in the world once again. Instead of going back to base he decided to Teleport to a super-minion next to SK Nexus and steal the game with 20% HP & MP. SK were prepared and Olaf was waiting for him. However xPeke showed amazing skills, kitting Olaf around the Nexus with his ultimate and evading most of his axes. When Olaf finally landed his Q and cought the 40HP Kassadin the later one gave the final blow to the Nexus gave Fnatic the victory and the qualification to the semi-finals. The last two minutes.

Early Game 5vs5 Tactics (Part 1)

Using some footage from the game of CLG.EU vs Iceland (unfortunately my editing skills are not existent) I found a nice opportunity to talk about tactics. In this post I will talk about "Taking a tower down in 4 mins" and "Taking the enemy Blue Buff at 7 mins)

Taking Top/Bot tower at 4 minutes . (11:29-13:07)

Firstly you need to 2vs1 the TOP lane and try to gather a huge minion wave. In order to do that you will need your ADC
to push the lane as little as possible while at the same time he, with the help of his SUP, harasses the enemy TOP player.

What will happen around the 4th minute of the game is that the enemy TOP player will be low-level (2-3) and probably half-HP against a huge minion wave and 2 players under his turret. That is the point where your Jungler shows up behind the enemy TOP laner and tries to tower dive or simply take the tower down.

What do you get out of it?

At this probably your team will be 1k gold ahead because of the tower kill. Additionally there are good chances that the enemy TOP will be dead. The map will look like this: the enemy TOP will try to freeze in-front of his second tower, the MID is gonna be equal (depending on who is pushing) and your BOT is going to be under heavy pressure.

In order for this play to have meaning for your team, you should be able to take advantage that the enemy team is under pressure and start snowballing the game by taking objectives. Some possible moves depending the flow of the game :

Move asap your ADC/SUP to Bot lane in order to keep your Bot tower up and have control over the dragon(it's highly probable the opposite team is following the same tactic and you might be fast enough to save your Bot tower).
Make your ADC/SUP & JUNG to roam at Mid lane. It is probable the tower kill to create some confusion on the enemy team. You can pick up the momentum and gang/push Mid lane with four people. This play should be quick, otherwise the enemy team may take advantage of the presence of four members of your team at Mid and push other objectives.
Keep the lanes as they are until you steal their Blue Buff at 7 mins.

How to counter the move

Do not let the enemy team 2vs1 your top lane.
Ask for your Jungler to show up and help your TOP lane defend the tower.
Be prepared and organize a Counter-gang.
Do the same but execute it better in order to put more pressure.

2.Blue Steal (14:43-16:10)

Stealing the first Blue buff from the enemy MID can put him behind in the game and give a huge advantage to your lane. In order to be able to know the respawn time and steal the Blue buff you should know where the enemy Jungler have started from.

After your team has taken down the tower next to the Blue Buff it is time to ward the area around it so you can have vision. At this point you should put pressure around the buff by bringing more people from the enemy team. Additionally you can try to orchestrate a gang at TOP/MID around the 7th minute of the game to make the invade more safe. TOP would be the easier choice because until now his lane is probably pushed and the TOP player is already behind (no wards, low-level, no summoners).

Offline Qualifiers and Legends Championship Series (LCS) Structure

The Offline Qualifier for Season 3 Legends Championship Series (LCS) are about to start. 16 Teams are going to compete with each other at each region for the 5 places that will lead to the LCS. The tournament will have the form of group stage, then Bo3 Single Eliminations games and placement matches between the teams eliminated in the quarterfinals for the 5th place.

The 16 NA teams that will struggle for one of the 5 place are the following while CLG.NA, TSM and Dignitas are already qualified.

S3 Offline Qualifiers NA teams

On the east side of the Atlantic, 16 European teams are getting ready for the offline qualifiers event while former M5, former CLG.EU and SK.Gaming are practicing for the LCS

After the Offline Qualifiers the LCS is going to start at its going to have the following form:

1. First Half of LCS
2. Midseason Play-offs and Promotion Matches
3. All-Star Brake
4. Second Half of LCS

1. First Half of LCS

North American teams will battle on Thursdays and Fridays, while the European division faces off on Saturdays and Sundays. Teams will play a total of 28 games – four single-game matches against each of the other seven teams in their division – during both halves of the season.

2. Midseason Play-offs and Promotion Matches

The top six teams in each division will compete in separate playoff tournaments The top two seeds earn a bye, while the third through sixth seeds play in the wildcard round. The winners advance to play the top two seeds as the playoffs continue. The two defeated wildcard teams join the two lowest finishing teams from the first half in a promotion tournament. They’ll be challenged by rising stars from the amateur ranks for the chance to come back in the second half—or fall out of the league.

3. All-Star Brake

All-Star break showcases the best players from around the world assembled into regional teams. The tournament will pit region against region.

4.Second Half of LCS

Following the All-Star break, the second half of the LCS swings back into action with the same structure but even more on the line, as the next round of divisional playoffs determine which teams will represent their region in the World Championships.

PBE Champion Preview: Tresh the Chain Warden

Tresh the Chain Warden!

Tresh is in the midst of live balance passes and therefore any of the information below are subjected to change.

Tresh is a supportive champion that can be also be played in Jungle or Top lane. The main characteristic of Tresh is that if he uses his tools properly he can lock down a single champion for a long time. He has quite clear disadvantages of low mobility, reliance on skill shots and on the ability of his allies to capitalize the momentums he can create.

Keeper of Souls (Innate): Thresh does not gain armor or magic resistance per level. Instead, he collects the souls of enemies that die near him. Souls permanently grant armor, magic resistance and ability power.

The souls can be dropped by minions while they are guaranteed to drop from Champions. Tresh has to pick the souls by walking near them. The first soul will grant 1 bonus ability power, armor and magic resist. Subsequent souls will grant 0.01 less, down to a minimum of 0.5 per stack. This will stack indefinitely.

Q - Shackle:

(Passive) Thresh's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage on each hit. The damage value is equal to the total number of souls collected plus a percentage of his attack damage, based on the amount of time since his last attack.

(Active): Thresh throws out his scythe, dealing (80|110|140|170|200(+0.5AP) magic damage to the first unit hit and pulling them toward him for 1.5 seconds.

Thresh can reactivate this ability to pull himself towards the bound enemy.

W- Lantern Toss

(Active): Thresh throws his lantern towards the target location. If an ally clicks it, they pick up the lantern and Thresh pulls them both back to him.

Additionally, allies who come near the lantern gain a shield that absorbs (60|100|140|180|220(+0.4 per ability power)incoming damage for up to 6 seconds. Allies can only receive the shield once per cast.

Additionally this ability can be use to pull friends over trees/ledges/walls and to pick up souls that are away from Tresh.

As CertainlyT commented, Lantern Toss is the signature ability of Tresh and it can be a LOT of fun!

E - Sweeping Scythe

(Active):Thresh deals (65|10|135|170|205(+0.4 per ability power) magic damage in a line beginning behind him. Enemies hit are pushed in the direction of the swing and then slowed (20|25|30|35|40%) for 1.5 seconds.

Cast forward to push; cast backward to pull.

R - The Box

(Active): Thresh creates a prison of spectral walls around himself. Enemy champions who walk through a wall take (250|400|450(+1.0 per ability power) magic damage and are slowed for 2 seconds, but break that wall.

The slow amount in the tool tip is 99% which can not be accurate.

Activating The Box creates the 5 wall around Thresh's current position, forming a closed pentagon.

Viktor Bug

Apparently there is a Viktor Bug, therefore Riot has disabled the character until next patch.
According to a reddit user, the bug has to do with certain hero's ultimate and Viktor. The particular user was not able to use his ultimate (a block box was appearing instead of the ultimate icon) with Annie and that was somehow related with Victor's presence in game. So far I was not able to find any official announcement from Riot.

Vi, The Piltover enforcer. Round 1, FIGHT!

Abilities:

( PASSIVE ) Blast Shield - Your activated abilities grant a shield equal to 10% of your max health for 5 seconds when they hit an enemy ( 16 second cool down )

( Q ) Vault Breaker -Charges a powerful punch that carries you forward.

First Cast: Slows your movement speed by 15% while increasing damage and rash range over 1.5 seconds.

Second cast: Dashes forward dealing 50/80/110/140/170(+.7AD) to 100/160/220/280/340(+1.4) physical damage applying Denting Blows to all enemies hit (deals 75% damage to minons and monster). Stops upon colliding with an enemy champion, knocking it back

Cooldown 19/16/13/10/7

( W ) Denting Blows : Every third attack on the same target deals an additional 6/7/8/9/10% (+.04 AD) of the target's max health as physical damage, reduces its armor by 25% and grants you 30/35/40/45/50% attack speed for 4 seconds ( max 300 damge vs minions and monsters )

( E ) Excessive Force: Causes next basick attack to deal 5/20/35/50/65 ( +1.2 total AD)(+.7 AP) physicl damage to target and enemies behind it.

Vi Charges a new punch every 14/12.5/11/9.5/7 seconds can can hold 2 charges at once.

(R ) Assault and Battery: Targets an enemy champion and chases it down, knocking it up and suppresing it for 1.25 seconds. Deals 200/375/550 ( +2.0 AD ) physical damage and applies denting blows.

While charging your are immune to crowd control and will knock aside enemies in the way, dealing 75% damage to them.

Found this really fun video worth sharing. Rizen Visual team, which had created similar videos on other games, have launched a live action video regarding League of Legends. I really enjoyed that video and the rest of the videos of that guys.

IPL5: Fnatic.Raidcall and CLG.Prime !

Day 3 in IPL 5 Las Vegas and the games so far have been exiting! A lot of great games so far with a lot of suprises. Fnatic.Raidcall and CLG.Prime both teams with great history in the LoL competitive scene that have fallen behind in the last events are doing a great come back.

Fnatic.Raidcall

Fnatic.Raidcall entered IPL5 really strong getting unexpected wins over Azubu (who have changed their line-up since Season 2 Finals) and over Season 2 Champions TPA. Both games were amazing and I believe it's worth the time watching them ( Fnatic vs TPA Game 1 & Game 2). Looks like Martin "Rekkles" Larsson have brought something new to the team.

CLG.Prime

CLG.Prime after the line-up changes, with HotshotGG going back to Top Lane, Chauster going in the Jungle and Locodoco recruitment as Support looks like they are back on track. So far they have done great games. Locodoko looks like he has an active part in CLG game play not only with his skills but also with his tactical knowledge. CLG in their last games have shown a higher level of commitment and focus on their tactics which they seem to work as planned.

Now both teams are facing each other with CLG picking the first game. On the second game CLG had the early lead but Fnatic made a great come back after picking twice Chauster alone. Both games were amazing. Lets see what game three will bring! You can watch them live here.

UPDATE

In game three, CLG were not able to make any plays happen in the early game giving the advantage to Fnatic assasin team (Katarina, Regnar, Lee Sin). Fnatic took advantage of any CLG mistake, who looked that game two had influenced them, and with an amazing ultimate co-ordination aced CLG and pretty much ended the game by taking advantage of 10k gold and score 9-1 in their favor.

IPL5 and January Sales Poll Results.

IPL 5

IPL 5, the last major event of 20120, have started today with the participation of major teams such as the Finalist of Season 2 (TPA and M5), superstar Asian teams (Azubu, World Elite), major European teams (CLG.EU, Curse.EU), all time classics (TSM, CLG.NA) and a lot of full hope and promises newcomers (Blackbeans ,Iceland). Do not forget we had quite a few Asian surprises the last period. A lot of fans would expect the popular SK Gaming team to take part to the event but they have not be able to go through the Qualifiers. On the other hand, the also disqualified FnaticRaidcall inherited Alternate's Qualifier spot. You can find more details about each team here.

The first games of the day have taken already place with a great game between Crs.NA and M5 with the later turning it in their favor in the last 5 minutes. The rest of the games so far went as expected with dominating victories of major teams over their weaker opponents.

Results from the poll "What would you like to see included in the January sales event" are up as well with Riots actions about them.

As Hippalus posted The results of the poll are in and the result is a virtual dead heat between option #4 and #6, each with approximately 15.5K votes across the 4 regions that participated (NA, EUW, EUNE and BR). The combined vote tally is:

1,522 - 50% off boosts

5,076 - 50% off rune pages

5,249 - RP purchases get extra bonus RP (similar to September)

15,476 - 50% off skin super sale (10+ skins, including some never before on sale)

11,679 - 75% off skin retirement (retiring several older skins to the legacy vault)

15,487 - 50% off legacy skins (bringing back some retired skins not currently in the store)

The moves Riot is planning to do on January are the following:

On January 11, the regular Friday sale will be replaced by a Skin Super Sale which will include some skins never before on sale (not Legendaries or other ineligible skins). As usual, three champions will also be on sale.

At some point between now and the end of January, the 42 Legacy skins below will come back into the store for a limited time at 50% off their regular price (42 Skins in total):

The nex champion abilities preview are shown below. Looks like great support to me, feel free to express your opinion!

Abilities:

· (Q - Hydro Blast) Sends a bubble into the air towards a targeted area, when it lands deals 75/130/185/240/295 (+0.75) magic damage to all enemies in the area of impact and encases them into bubbles. Enemies hit by the bubble are lifted into the air and stunned for 1.25/1.25/1.25/1.25/1.25 seconds before being dropped to the ground. [Cost: 65/65/65/65/65 Mana] [Cooldown: 16/14.5/13/11.5/10] [Range: 825.0]

· (R - Tidal Wave) Summons a Tidal Wave outward from Nami's position. The Tidal Wave briefly knocks up enemies that it comes in contact with and slows them by 60/65/70% and deals 150/250/350 (+0.8) magic damage. The slow duration increases based on how far the Tidal Wave has traveled, with a minimum duration of 3 seconds and a maximum of 5/5/5 seconds. [Cost: 100/150/200 Mana] [Cooldown: 150/130.5/110] [Range: 2200.0]

Leaving Elo-Hell and Climbing on the Elo-Ladder. A Comprehensive Guide for the Average LoL player

Hey everyone,

This is my first try to write a guide but I hope that you will like it. I summed up a few info instead of making a lengthy paragraph ( as you will notice the guide too long)

Name: Kostas, Summoner names: fouf123 on East and foufeX on west

Role: Jungler

Highest elo: 1820

Info: I am not a skilled player but I try to counter that with experience and knowledge of the game.

This guide is on how to get your ELO higher. By saying higher I don’t intend to give you guidelines on how to get from 1900 to 2400 but some useful tips and ideas on how to get out of elo-hell and do your first steps towards 1800ish rating.

As we do in business it will be good to have a plan. You should answer some questions like:

Where am I? Do you feel that you belong at 1500 elo, 1800 one or you are a professional that was so unlucky with his teammates and got stuck in elo-hell?

Where do I want to be? After you decide how good player you are it is good to set realistic targets. So I you think you are a 1600 player, 1650 rating is a realistic target. After you achieve your current targets you can set new ones.

How I will get there? Well that’s what this guide is talking about. Hope you can find some useful information in it.

Objectives

· Try to be the leader (if you can).

I know it’s hard sometimes to get the role you like but at least you have to tell your teammates, at the champion selection screen, that you would like to play a particular role because you perform better at it. Also a back-up plan is a good idea.

Your back-up plan would be to be able to play a second role in an acceptable level other than your main role. For example, I try to get the role of the Jungle but it is not always possible so my second choice is always support. If that is not possible either I am able to play a couple of safe farming heroes at Top and Mid. I choose heroes that can farm safely because when I play in a lane I am not familiar with, I will probably lose it because the opposite player will be more experienced than me. So what I try to do is farm till mid game and try not to feed the opponents. If that is the case, I will recommend (at least for the lanning phase) not to do weird/Gosu stuff that you have seen on streams just farm and do not feed.

· Play heroes you are familiar with.

Similarly, you should always try to play champions that you are familiar and good with. Some argue that if you can play a single champion amazingly can carry you around. I would recommend a middle way. Depending on your role you should have a champion pool that you are comfortable with so you can pick the hero that fits better in the situation. Do not try champions you are not familiar with because their counter to your opponent’s champion. If your opponent knows how to use his hero, you will probably fail.

Taking myself for example, I can play at competitive level at least 2 Junglers from each of the following categories: a) Counter-junglers, b) Safe Farming Junglers, c) Strong Gagners, d) Tanky Junglers, e) Bruisers Junglers, f)Heavy-CC/Support Junglers, g) AP based. Having a variety of champions I am able to adapt depending on factors such as:

i) What does my team need (CC, Tank, Dmg, AP) .

ii) What will counter the opponent team (do they have heavy physical/magical dmg or heavy CC?).

iii) What will counter the enemy jungler (if they pick a weak jungler, I will go for a counter-jungler etc).

Regarding your secondary role you should be able to have a few champs you should be familiar with

· Lane control

Moving from champions selection to lanning phase. In order to perform well you will need to have items which means that you need to farm CS safely. To do that you should know the basic of lanning and a few lanning techniques. Because this guide is getting too long and other people have written before me about it, if you do not know how to: i) Deny CS, ii) Freeze your lane, iii) Push your lane strategically and farm safely you should read another guide : )

· Map awareness

In my opinion map awareness is one of the most important factors to win the game. It is really important to know at all times what’s going on at the map. The map awareness depends mainly in two things: i) vision of the map (through towers, minions and wards yes you should buy wards no matter your role) and ii) if you actually look on the map once in a while. You should be aware at all times where your teammates are and have an idea if possible of where your enemies are.

For example, you don’t want to go counter-jungling when your mid is at base, their Mid and Bot have pushed their lanes and you don’t have an idea where the enemy jungler is. If you take all the above into consideration you will understand that the risk for taking a couple of minions is too high. On the same way you don’t want to put ward on the river if all 5 enemy members are missing and you don’t have an idea of where they might be.

Especially for initiators, you should be always aware where your teammates and enemies are if you want to do a proper initiation. I know you all (including me) have experience times that you initiated because you were 5 and they were 3, but 3 seconds later you were alone and they were 5 because your teammates went back to farm and you didn’t notice.

· Information, information, information…

A really important aspect of the game is information. Your ability to get information and to interpret it correctly is a difficult task that needs experience and awareness of what’s happening around you and on the map. Information is the line that separates a good call from a bad call. You should always have information regarding all the players on their position on the map, their cool downs, their items, their score, the timers of the neutral monsters etc. By having that information in mind you can calculate your friends and opponents strength and even predict their next move on the map.

For example, if you know that a player has used his summoners, will give you a window of a few minutes to take advantage of it by pressuring his lane or even ganging him. If you know the timers for the neutral monsters you can be prepared to fight for them or even take them fast enough without anyone noticing. If you see the mid player at top, you can use this information and pressure put pressure on a tower Bot or take the dragon etc etc.

· Objectives

You all have been to games that you were carring so hard but you lost the game at the end. If you have 11-0-2 doesn't really matter unless you destroy the enemy Nexus. So you have to define the objectives and then puss for them. Your early game objective should be to win your lane. That means more CS than your opponent, more kills and if possible a Tier 1 tower down. This way you put pressure on the map and lead your team to mid-game objectives. Mid-game objectives should be the Drake, Tier 2 towers and then if your team is doing well you should end the game by try to take the enemys inhibitors, Baron and finally The Nexus.

· Try to be the leader (if you can).

It always a good tactic to work as a team and every good team needs a good leader. In case none is presenting leadership skill and you think you are able to lead your team to the victory then start organizing.

There are few basic things to do as a leader.

i) First more important and more difficult is to make your team trust you as a leader. There are not tips for that; usually if you make a good call once or you have the most kills of your team will work. Otherwise people tend to follow people with high elo, so a small lie would not always be that bad.

ii) Ping the map and call the SS, share the information you have.

iii) Make your team to push for the objectives, by instructing them, being present for the goal, proper warding in order to achieve the objective etc

Unfortunately the leader role is a hard one and needs a lot of experience to make good calls. It fits better to the positions of mid and jungler because of their ability to roam and put pressure on specific objectives.

· Feedback yourself

At the end of each I would recommend to take 1 minute before Queuing again and think about you in the game you just played. Think what have you done wrong and what have you done right.

Was your CS score acceptable? If you were mid player, did you put pressure on the map? Did you have a good Kill/Death ratio? Why did you lost the baron smite? Can you improve next time? Do not try to follow the common way of thinking...I lost my lane because my jungler did not help me. Even if that is the case… try to think what you could have done better in order to win your lane? Did you made a bad move and gave your opponent your advantage? Did you use wards? You think you should have played more defensively? What went wrong and you lost the lane? Most of the times its either are points in the game we messed up by making a bad call which our opponent took advantage of it and then the game snowballed.

· Play when you perform best!

If you are planning to get your elo high you will have to win. In order to win the best think you can do is to perform at least above than average. If all your teams perform above average you will probably win. Keeping that in mind it can prove useful sometimes to play when you know that you can perform the best.

For example, try to be rested. If you haven’t slept for one day the chances you will fail are higher. Try to avoid playing ranked games for 10 hours in a row; there are a lot of chances that after your first games your effectiveness will drop

· Duo Queue with someone you can co-operate.

When you play solo Queue, you are playing with 4 random people that can perform from really good to really bad. By playing Duo Queue (DQ) you are reducing players that can potentially miss-perform by one.

To have a successful DQ, it would be wise to pick up a friend that you can co-operate with. By co-operation I mean two things:

i) You both have the same play-style (aggressive, defensive, objective based) and

ii) Your main roles can synergize (mid-jungle, top-jungle, ad-support). If you both feel really confident about yourself you can try to pick solo lanes and carry the game for the rest of the team. Other than that it would be great if you and your duo partner are playing along time together so you can synergize better. Software and microphone for online talking are strongly recommended!

· Try to avoid bad players.

That goes mostly for lower elo people. I have noticed a lot of times that people (for some reason) leave the game resulting in putting you back in the Queue. Sometimes, you will be able to get some information about your teammates through this time. If for any reason you think that you team is not going to be good (have played before with that player, he was flaming at the champion selection, he was acting like a child etc), LEAVE THE QUEUE! The chances are really high that you will get on the same team with some of those people when the game window pop-up again.

· Do not flame.

As Riot mentions to its new “Tips in game” feature, people that flame have 16% more chances to lose the game that those who do not. I believe that the “Do not blame” is not a tip or advice but a rule.

By flaming you are not magically transforming your teammates to professional players. Most possible is to get them play even worse. Additionally, you are not focused anymore on the game but you are typing a lot and thinking of good lines to make fun of the other players reducing your performance.

My personal advice is play your game and do not criticize the rest. On the same way there will be times that you will have bad games and you will be flamed, just ignore them and keep playing your game. Constructive criticism in a good manner is always welcome!

· Try to make a winning streak at the begging.

Well that’s a small one but helped me a lot in Season 2. It is better to wait a few days before starting playing because at the moment at 1500 elo they are players that used to be a lot higher. So it would be a good idea to let them get higher so you can play with people at your level or worse. As you have noticed the first game of each Season are ranking games, this means that you gain 30+ rating per win and lose 30+ rating per defeat. So it will be easier to get elo if you win at the beginning of the Season.

For example, at Season 2 I began playing kind of late. As a result most of the top players have left elo hell and I was able to make a score of 11-1 which meant that I was at 1750 rating with only 12 games! After that point even if I lost a game I was penalized with only 10-12 points instead of 30. The hard part is to maintain and increase your rating after that point.

All-Star team-setups of Season 2 Championship, Final Stage (part 3)

I know some teams are missing but there was a huge amount of data, so I picked some of my favorites

Statistics on LoL Season 2 World Championship, Top-Bot lanes (part 2)

For our Greek fans Void Gaming won Pentakill.gr at the Greek Go4LoL Cup final! Congratulations to both teams.

Top

Another TPA player, Stanley this time seems to be the more effective top lane (always regarding K/D ratio).
Azubu Shy had a really aggressive tournament, having the most kills and deaths per game.
Kenin and Voyboy contributed the less to their team but still the games they have are too few to make an accurate conclusion.
Shen and Jayce look like the most commonly used champions.

AD Carry

While someone will expect more from AD carries they tend to have a lower K/D ration than Middle and Top lane.

The most effective seems to be Bebeisadog from TPA with 5.63 K/D ratio.
Woong has an amazing amount of assists, 84!
I think I did not have to make any research to conclude that the most commonly used AD carry is Ezreal. Also Kog Maw is doing pretty well

Support

There is a close competition between supports with the 4 first being really close.
We can see Gosu Pepper and Mistake having the same K/D ratio but both doing great job by having as few kills as possible with under than 1 kill/game.
In my opinion and comparing more numbers than just K/D ratio, Gosu Pepper had the best performance in the tour while Mistake is slightly behind him.
Madlife is on a killiiinggggg SPREEEEee with 2.5 kills per game, that is why probably Woong has so few kill/game. Someone was stealing them ;).
We can see that Sonna and Nunu are dominating in the support role.

Comparing Bot Lanes

By comparing the bottom lanes we can see that the first 4 remain the same with TPA and M5 having the two best followed by Azubu and CLG EU. On the bottom half of the table things change a little. CLG.NA have the best between TSM and SK Gaming with added K/D ratio 3.81. SK Gaming on the other hand have the worst with 3.28 added K/D ratio. Although their lane was not doing any well they insisted in the Graves/Lulu setup in all the 3 games they played.

Statistics for LoL Season 2 World Championship Mid-Jungle (part 1)

Haven't post for a while but things are getting busier and busier.

So I have made a small research on the Season 2 Finals Stage games and I have got some statistics. They are about k/d ratios of some of the best teams in the world (TPA, Azubu Frost, M5 CLG Eu, CLG NA, SK Gaming and TSM) plus some statistics about mid and top lanes. At the post only middle and jungle are going to be presented because it takes alot of time to create those tables.

As you can see some teams like WE, IG, Dignitas, Najin and SaJ are missing because of the huge amount of data that would be gathered if they were taken into consideration

Some conclusions based mostly on numbers(Kills/Deaths/Assists), while alot of more factors play important role in the game.

Toyz seems to be the most effective AP mid player at the Season 2 Finals with the highest K/D ratio (8.82) almost double from the second AlexIch.
The average Deaths/Game for mid players is about 2,4 while Toyz has his average Death per Game ratio at half that amount (1.1).
The most common middle hero is Karthus (8+ games)
Reginald while having the less games has the more Kills and Deaths per game. ( the data is only from 2 games though)

I can admit I am getting a huge fan of Toyz.

The most effective Jungler seems to be Diamond with his deadly Lee, having 4.31 K/D ratio and the highest Kills and Assists per game.
Lillballz and Cloud also look like they are doing great job with 3.89 and 3.59 K/D ratio respectively.
Most kills per game come again from a TSM member !
Most common hero roaming in the Jungle : Maokai (8+) and Mundo (7+)

TPA Toyz had an amazing performance at Season 2 Finals, dominating in every game. His plays were awesome and he managed to keep his death count close to zero (if not zero) to most of the games. The only game I remember him having trouble (as he admitted at his facebook post you are going to read) was vs "M5 AlexIch" Eve, where his team lost the 1st game as well.
