Summer Camp makes a BIG difference for Emma and Robert

Robert and I would love to come back to LOMC this year. This would be my second and Robert's third year of Theka. Each year that we come back to camp is an entirely different experience. We learn so much every summer about God and our faith. We love meeting people our age with the same interests as us, and create new friendships. We both love everything about LOMC - campfires, singing songs and dancing, canoeing, bible studies, and everything else! (Emma)

Opportunity knocks next weekend (Jan. 27 - 29) at the Marander Lodge. A last minute cancellation has made this lodge available for a family or families who want FREE lodging for a nice get away weekend retreat. Meals are available for a nominal fee

The Marander Lodge has six rooms and can accommodate up to three adults comfortably in each room. Each room has its own bathroom and complete linen service. Two rooms are handicap assessable. There is a large community lounge for meeting space or just relaxing around the fire in the large stone fire place.

Freedom Tree Village adult and family retreat space is available most Sunday through Thursday nights throughout the year except mid-June through mid-August.

Adult retreats are hosted throughout the year at the Freedom Tree Village retreat center. Freedom Tree Village is an adult and family retreat center on the grounds of LOMC that features two lodges, each with a fireplace in the common living space, and the Hawkins Hospitality Center that provides space for meetings and activities as well as dining accommodations. The Freedom Tree Village is handicap accessible, so everyone can enjoy the beautiful wooded setting it is nestled in.
Adult retreats are presented by group leaders based on a specific theme or topic and include 6 delicious meals and overnight accommodations for participants.

2011 Swing Choir Tour

Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Graddy as 2011 Swing Choir Tour Director and Accompanist. Michael, his wife Karin and their three children are members of Salem Lutheran Church, Sycamore. He is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Michael and family have been frequent guests at LOMC for family camps and retreats. He was active in choirs and musicals throughout his school years. Michael is an accompanist and vocalist for many community events and churches and was accompanist for the Wesley Tour Choir at NIU. He is CFO of Graddy Solutions, a web design and consulting firm he co-owns with his wife. Michael is excited about the opportunity to accompany and direct the LOMC Swing Choir tour and continue the tradition of swing choir performances for more than 25 years.

Brandi Peters will be the Choreographer. Brandi is a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clifton where her stepfather serves as pastor. She is a freshman at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She has danced for 13 years in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe and hip-hop. She is an alumnus of the LOMC Swing Choir Tour. At Carthage Brandi participates in Belly Dancing and numerous clubs and organizations including intramural soccer and sand volleyball. Brandi plans to major in athletic training and go on for a masters degree in Physical Therapy.

The 2011 Swing Choir tour will begin July 21 and do twelve concerts over a nine day period. The Choir will perform at the following Lutheran churches: First, Dekalb; First, Ohio; St. Mark, Aurora; Living Hope, Frankfort; St. Paul, Sterling; Peace, New Lenox; Messiah, Park Ridge; St. Mark, Washington and Salem, Moline. The Swing Choir will conclude the tour at Trinity, Harvard on July 29.

We welcome Michael and Brandi to the LOMC family and look forward to their leadership in 2011.

by giving out prizes for the 800th new fan, 900th new fan, and the lucky person who is our 1000th new fan. Today we have 797 fans, so the 3rd new fan to join our Fan Page this month will receive a "goodie basket" worth $50 from our Camp Store. The 900th new fan will receive a "goodie basket" and $100 towards a weekend retreat at LOMC and the 1000th new fan an entire weekend retreat for their family at LOMC during the year 2011.

Advent Retreat for 3rd-6th graders

December 3 & 4, 2010

Third - sixth graders are welcome at this retreat to learn about the Advent season and make a devotional Jesse Tree to take home and complete with their family for the remainder of Advent.

Campers will make a devotional ornaments to take home and engage family in short meaningful time throughout the advent season. The Jesse Tree is a unique Advent tree that can be very useful for teaching children about the Bible at Christmas, and a fun activity, too!

The Jesse Tree is named from Isaiah 11:1: "A shoot will spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots." It is a vehicle to tell the Story of God in the Old Testament, and to connect the Advent Season with the faithfulness of God across 4,000 years of history.

Cost $60/child

Includes overnight accommodations and meals.
