The Dirt Bike Show 2009

This weekend, 5th-8th November 2009 sees the 10th anniversary of the Dirt Bike Show being held at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry. For most LB'ers this is an fairly unknown side of motorcycling as there's not much need for it in the seething metropolis we live in but after my debut visit I have to say there is plenty to interest all riders. Amongst the main attractions are the Vertical Trix wheelie machine, the Factory CCM Racing Team, a live stage with fashion shows and interviews, a mini-race paddock, British Cycle Trials Champion Danny Butler and likely as not our very own MX snapper Ian Biggs will be lurking there wishing he was young again hehe.

The Three Amigo's LAA Charity Ride

Jetstream and co organised a members ride-out, with a collection being made for our charity, The London Air Ambulance (LAA). On the day £162.41 was raised from attendee's donating. The ride took us from the Ace Cafe to Whiteways, and then on to Hayling Island.

LB Poker Night 2009

The evening of the 3rd October was a night on the tables, an evening on the baze playing Texas Poker with proppa plastic casino chips just like in the movies!! All for the greater good, i.e. the London Air Ambulance which incidently Lou and I saw leaving it's base as we crawled into town.

BSB 2009 Round 10 - Croft

Stuart Easton and the Hydrex Honda team took a maiden win in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli after an epic opening race of the day at Croft. Easton took the holeshot off the line to lead in to Clerveaux for the first time, with Josh Brookes, James Ellison and Simon Andrews tucked in behind. Pole-sitter Leon Camier was down the order after a poor start and clearly desperate to work his way through to the front, but he pushed too hard trying to pass Simon Andrews on the second lap and went into Tower too hot. Camier went off the track to scrub off the speed and when he rejoined he was over ten seconds behind the pack and lying last.

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier has finally put his Cadwell Park demons to rest after securing the opening race win in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli. It was Confused.com Kawasaki's Simon Andrews that took the hole shot into Coppice on the opening lap after running side-by-side with Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton who then took the lead. Camier was running third although he made a move on Andrews at Charlies to move second, but he fought straight back when he dived down the inside at Barn. Camier wasn't going to be deterred by the sudden pass by Andrews and a lap later he was able to out-drag him to make a pass at Charlies to move second. He repeated the move just a lap later on Easton to take the lead and then extend a gap over his battling rivals.

In front of a sell-out crowd the twelve best FMX athletes in the World electrified the former coal-fired Power Station once responsible for providing the bustling metropolis with energy. Going into the event no fewer than four riders - Nate Adams (USA), Robbie Maddison (AUS), Eigo Sato (JPN) and Mat Rebeaud (SUI) - were in with a chance of riding off with the overall title at the end of the night.

BSB 2009 Round 8 - Brands Hatch #2 August

In sweltering summer heat the "Big Brands Bash" took place at everyone's favourite circuit, Brands Hatch over the weekend of August 8th and 9th. For the first time the Superbike championship had a 3 race format giving excellent value for money to the fans, plus a fantastic display on and off track of the legends of bike racing from the past including appearances by Giacomo Agostini who rode Yamahas and MV Agustas in front of the 53,000 fans. Also showing this race was the championship's new sponsor MCE Insurance including their mascot Big Ed who put on a brilliant display in the heat wearing a full leather suit.
