One carrier that stands out, and has nationwide name recognition is AT&T Wireless. A major problem for cell phone users is poor coverage outside of major urban areas like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans or Washington D.C. However AT&T uses a new Technology Time Division Access (TDMA is also used by Cingular). Analog roaming services are available almost everywhere in the U.S.

Calling plans with AT&T start as low as $39.95 s month. This plan allows 450 daytime minutes and unlimited night and weekend minutes. What AT&T customers really seem to enjoy are such features as the AT&T Connect or Teleconcierge. Operators quickly find numbers for anyplace, anywhere in the U.S., make reservations for you, get local movie times, and call back to confirm your dinner reservations. Other unique services include stock quotes, event listings, weather reports, and daily horoscopes.

One increasingly popular type of cell phone plan is pre-paid calling plans. AT&T offers the Go Phone with pre-paid plans, free unlimited night and weekend minutes, no contracts to sign, no credit check or activation fee, or deposit. They also offer Free 2 Go Wireless Solutions, also pre-paid with no contracts or credit checks. However the Go Phone plan gives you the unlimited free off prime minutes, lower per minute prices, wider choice of AT&T cell phones, and more choices of AT&T ring tones, and choices in payment options. For instance you can even set up a plan to have your credit or debit card to automatically add to your account when the minutes get low. The AT&T Go Phone plan also offers lower international dialing rates to its Go Phone customers.

Recently AT&T began to offer a new type of digital phone service known as GSM/GPRS, which provides a true 56 kilobyte per second internet connection speed for lap top computers hooked up to the GSM phone line or that use a GSM plug in cord. Remember though that the rates for this service is high with 400 voice minutes and one megabyte of data transmission can add $50.00 to your regular monthly bill. AT&T’s numerous plans, versatile payment options and TDMA and GSM technology have helped placed AT&T near the top of successful cellular phone carriers.

Wedding Hair Style ? Achieve The Perfect Beautiful, But Formal Look http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/wedding-hair-style-%e2%80%93-achieve-the-perfect-beautiful-but-formal-look.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/wedding-hair-style-%e2%80%93-achieve-the-perfect-beautiful-but-formal-look.html#comments Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:19:20 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/wedding-hair-style-%e2%80%93-achieve-the-perfect-beautiful-but-formal-look.html With formal hairstyling trends taking a step back from the rigidly crafted styles of yesterday, today’s wedding hair styles are free, natural and a great deal easier to attain than they were a few years ago. But even though this is true, the bridal hair style is probably the most important style that you are going to choose for quite a while so it is best served by a little research and practice before the big day.

On your wedding day, hundreds of eyes will be on you, and your chosen bridal hair style can either complete the picture or detract from it. That is why it is so important to choose the perfect formal hairstyle well in advance of the big day so that you and your stylist can get it right and make custom additions to your wedding hair style. Nothing is worse than a hastily crafted coif decided upon only minutes before the ceremony.

You can begin your search for the perfect bridal hair styles and bridesmaid hair styles by browsing through style books that highlight formal updos and popular wedding hair styles. While looking, keep in mind the style of dress that you have selected and choose wedding hair styles that compliment the style, era and cut of the dress. The same thing goes for your bridesmaids dresses.

Another important thing to consider when choosing bridal hair styles are the styles, lengths and textures of the bridal party’s hair. For example: if every member of the bridal party save one has short hair, selecting a French Twist as your only bridesmaid hair style would not be very feasible. But you could do a French Twist on the one member with long hair and select different wedding hair styles for the rest of the party as long as it doesn’t bother you that everyone is not going to look identical.

When it comes to coordinating your wedding hair styles for your wedding party, you do not have to choose cookie-cutter styles for each member of the party. Look instead at bridal hair styles that compliment each member’s personality, facial structure and hair texture. Let your wedding party members have some say in how they would like to wear their hair and set some practical guidelines such as whether or not the bridesmaid hair style should be pinned up off of the neck or allowed to flow free down the back.

Then, coordinate the individual bridal hair styles by using matching accessories and placing them in similar patterns on each member. These pointers apply for the bridal party only; the bridal hair style should set the bride apart from the others and be more intricate and beautiful than all other wedding hair styles chosen by members of the wedding party.

Once all bridal hair styles have been chosen, have a practice run where all of the ladies meet at the same salon and allow the stylists that are going to do the wedding party’s hair on the big day have a crack at crafting the intricate wedding hair styles that you have chosen. While it may cost you a little bit of money to do this, it will save you a great deal of headache on the big day.

Dating Advice for Women: Stop Working So Hard http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/dating-advice-for-women-stop-working-so-hard.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/dating-advice-for-women-stop-working-so-hard.html#comments Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:18:52 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/dating-advice-for-women-stop-working-so-hard.html Remember Jerry Hall, the model who married Mick Jagger? Jerry was
famous for making this statement:

“My mother said it was simple to keep a man. You must be a maid in the
living room, a cook in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom.”

If keeping a man meant all that work, I’d have stayed single.

In addition to that pearl of wisdom, Ms. Hall offered this one: “Even
if you have only two seconds, drop everything and give him (oral sex).
That way he won’t really want sex with anyone else.”

Poor Jerry. Too bad her mother didn’t tell her that if a man tends to
want sex with “anyone else,” he’s not great husband material.

Sadly, despite all her hard work, Mick Jagger continued to have sex
with other people and fathered a child with another model during his
marriage to Hall. They are now divorced. So much for keeping a man!

The point? No guy is worth running yourself ragged for. Instead of
appreciating your efforts, he will likely take you for granted and come to
resent you. Think about it: Do you fall for guys who are at your beck
and call all the time? They’re great for helping you move, but you
probably wouldn’t marry one.

All right. Let’s say you decide to move in with a guy. Before you run
out to Bed Bath & Beyond, it’s absolutely imperative that you talk to
your boyfriend about sharing household chores. It’s not romantic, but
you’ll save yourself much misery in the end. And whatever you do, don’t
get off on the wrong foot by cooking dinner every night and doing his
laundry.

Resist any and all impulses to “wife and mother” the guy. Otherwise,
he’ll take you for granted, or even worse, marry you and expect you to be
his servant for the rest of your life. And that’s definitely not
romantic!

Allow a man to cook for you for a change. Let him do your laundry every
now and then. There’s no reason to expect him to be your maid in the
living room, cook in the kitchen, or whore in the bedroom, but every
once in a while it wouldn’t hurt.

Remember: You have a lot to offer (if you don’t believe me, take
out a pen and paper and write down a list of the qualities that make
you special; emphasize things like your sense of
humor, leave off your ability to fold a fitted sheet).

Don’t let a guy do you any favors. Keep this in mind: You’re a great
girl, and he’d be lucky to have you.

Software For Your Kids http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/software-for-your-kids.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/software-for-your-kids.html#comments Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:16:55 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/software-for-your-kids.html Computers are all the rage today for people of all ages including children. There are many different types of software that you can choose from when it comes to picking something for your children to enjoy on the computer. Depending on the age bracket of your children you?ll have to take some time to choose software that does what you want it to do.

For the younger child aged three to five there is software that features some of their favorite television characters such as Dora the Explorer or Bob the Builder. Your children will be both entertained and educated as they play games, learn the alphabet, and learn to count. Software for very young children is easy for them to play so that you?re not always coming to their assistance whenever they press a wrong key.

Software for older children aged five to ten has even more interactive features than software for the younger child. You can buy software that is exclusively for learning and software that will only provide entertainment. Most software comes with a rating to let you know that it doesn?t contain any material that is inappropriate for children. Some types of software for this age group of children include puzzle games, software for learning a second language, math and science software, video game software, software for the artist, and software that allows your child to connect with the internet and play games with other children around the world.

Software for teens is something that you?ll need to supervise a little more closely since much of the software on the market can be objectionable and will often test the morals and virtues that you are trying to teach your children. When you buy software for your teen make sure that you take a good long look at what the software is all about, since many of the software games can feature a large amount of violence. There are, of course, software programs for your teen that are educational as well as fun and that they can use to enhance their schoolwork.

With so many different software choices out there how do you know that you?re making the right choices? Check out some of the parental listings that can be found on the internet. Many parent websites will offer you advice and ratings for much of the new software that comes out each month. This way you can be assured that other parents are approving a certain piece of software before you make your purchase.

Keep in mind that you should always limit the amount of time that your children spend on the computer. Children should be encouraged to spend just as much time playing outdoors as they do playing and learning on the computer.

The Saga of the Annoying Adware http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/the-saga-of-the-annoying-adware.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/the-saga-of-the-annoying-adware.html#comments Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:15:52 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/the-saga-of-the-annoying-adware.html When we think of adware, what comes to mind are those annoying and pesky ads that pop up out of nowhere whenever we are surfing the net. Anybody who has surfed through the net has encountered those irritating pop-up adwares advertising everything from computer software down to Viagra. Adwares are some of the most derided objects in the web alongside viruses, spyware and other malicious softwares and programs. Although adwares are alleged to be the most benign form of spyware, most web users hate the blatant and bothersome way of advertising. Most are often tricked into clicking on such adwares and end up unintentionally downloading something far more serious.

What are adwares, anyway? Adware or advertising-supported software is defined as any computer program or software package in which advertising and other marketing material are included with or automatically loaded by the software. Adwares are usually played back after installation. Some malicious adwares upload information about the computer or its user’s activities even without the consent of its user. Adwares most often take the form of banner ads that appear on pop up windows or anywhere on the computer screen.

Software applications display these advertising banners whenever a program is opened or through some other triggering mechanism. Most adwares are integrated into a free application. This is a way for the developers to recover the costs of creating such software. A prominent example of this is the Opera browser software, which is a free application but comes with a banner ad. The adware can only be removed once the user purchases and registers his copy of the software. It is also a revenue-generating mechanism. A company can sponsor adwares to capture more visitors and potential customers. Adware as a marketing strategy is just one of the many techniques used by websites to attract more traffic.

However, some adwares are more than just pesky and garish ads. In many cases, adwares accompany a more malicious program, which uploads information about the user collected without permission. The users surfing habits are then tracked; in some cases, the browser home page is altered or redirected to the adware company’s sponsoring site. These types of adwares are dangerous since they may jeopardize the computer system’s health. Aside from installing malicious software, they may also become an avenue for viruses to invade the system.

Adwares have come under fire not only because of their annoying presence in the form of pop ups and banners but also in the way they invade the privacy of the user. Trackware and Spyware are just two of the “evil” forms that adware can take. That is why most computer users make an effort to get rid of these adwares. Because of the annoying nature of pop-up adware, most browsers now employ an adware blocking system through the form of a pop-up blocker or adware blocker. Browsers such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Mozilla’s Firefox all use pop-up blockers, which instantly block or close any window that is triggered by adware in the sites that the user visits. These steps have significantly reduced the number of irritating adware that pop up every time a site is opened.

Most antivirus programs and utilities now feature an adware search and removal system. These programs indexes known adwares and spywares in the internet universe and searches for it in the user’s computers system then subsequently quarantines or deletes the malicious files. Nevertheless, despite the numerous efforts against adwares, they continue to plague web surfers with their showy ads and banners as well as the nasty programs they introduce into the computer system. As the sage of the annoying adware continues, web surfers are also equipped with the best tools and utilities to combat them.

Building a 5-ton mechanical calculator… from 19th-century plans http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/building-a-5-ton-mechanical-calculator-from-19th-century-plans.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/building-a-5-ton-mechanical-calculator-from-19th-century-plans.html#comments Sun, 20 Apr 2008 07:51:10 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/building-a-5-ton-mechanical-calculator-from-19th-century-plans.html Starting in May, many will have the opportunity to see for themselves how they did computing the old-fashioned way: with lots of gears, a big crank and some muscle.

The Computer History Museum, in Mountain View, Calif., will unveil a new construction, the first in the United States, of the 19th century British mathematician Charles Babbage?s Difference Engine No. 2, an improved version of his earlier mechanical digital calculator.

Babbage finalized the design in the late 1840?s but it was not built during his lifetime, or for a long time afterward. Finally, in the late 1980?s, London?s Science Museum launched the first and until now only full-blown construction project, based on Babbage?s original detailed drawings, and in 1991 unveiled the completed calculator, 11 feet long, 7 feet high, with 8,000 parts in bronze, cast iron and steel, weighing about 3 tons.

In operation, it looks rather like an industrial version of a street organ.

In 2000, the museum added the calculator?s complex printer, almost as big and at 2.5 tons nearly as heavy.

The American model is the second built from Babbage?s plans. This one was commissioned and paid for by Microsoft millionaire Nathan Myhrvold, and built by the Science Museum.

Myrhvold and Guest Curator Doron Swade, an authority on Babbage and the man who led the Science Museum?s first construction effort, will speak on Babbage?s creation Thursday, May 1 at the Computer History Museum (the event is sold out). The exhibit itself opens Saturday, May 10, with demonstrations of the Difference Engine.

The Difference Engine is not the only geared calculation marvel in the world. In late 2006, an international team of scientists revealed new details of a 2,100-year-old astronomical calculator, the Antikythera, which used a complex system of 37 finely cut bronze gears to accurately show the changing positions of the sun and moon, with its phases, and possibly predict solar and lunar eclipses.

So what is a ?difference engine?? Not being a math wizard, I?ll give this my best shot, drawing in part on the online expertise of Andrew Carol, an Apple software engineer who built a simpler difference engine, entirely of plastic LEGO pieces.

Carol points out that calculating the trigonometric and logarithmic tables used for an array of navigation, engineering and scientific purposes was all done by hand, with a skilled mathematician directing the efforts of a room filled with less-skilled people, called ?computers,? who could be trusted to do reliable arithmetic. Babbage was one of a number of people trying to automate this process with mechanical devices in the 19th Century.

In effect, the difference engine is a kind of shortcut to determine a series of successive mathematical values. It?s based on something called the method of differences, developed by Sir Isaac Newton. Carol gives the example of multiplying 5 by successive numbers, such as 6, 7, 8. ?In simple terms, the method of differences is based on the observation that if the work has already been done to multiply 5 by 6, [then] that work can be reused to multiple 5 by 7 with the addition of another 5 into the previous total,? he writes.

Like this:
5 x 6 = 30
5 x 7 = 35 by adding 5 to the previous total
5 x 8 = 40 by adding 5 yet again to the previous total

As Carol puts it: ?Successive multiplications have been reduced to an identical number of successive additions. As long as we are willing to calculate the table entries [remember this is all about tables of values] in order we can save an enormous amount of work.?

Babbage?s difference engine applies this same idea to solving polynomial equations, which are widely used in math and science. Polynomials are built from a combination of variables and constants; use only addition, subtraction and multiplication; and only exponents that are constant positive whole numbers.

Babbage later designed a more general Analytical Engine, but only part of it was completed when he died in 1871. This device was intended to evaluate any mathematical formula, but it was never successfully created. A Swedish printer, George Scheutz, in 1854 built a machine based on Babbage?s Difference Engine design, and versions were used by the British and American governments.

The Difference Engine is powered by a hand-turned crank and a complex system of gears.

The California museum will be missing a few of the more eccentric elements in the British museum?s permanent Babbage exhibit, notably one-half of the brain that created the Difference Engine. The Science Museum holds about 800 human remains, in varying quantities, including a lock of Napoleon?s hair, cut off by Dr. Barry O?Meara at St. Helena where the emperor died, ?human skin from one half of a male body, probably French, 19th century? and a rather numerous collection of shrunken heads, from Ecuador?s Jivaro tribe.

The Victorian aesthetic exemplified in Babbage?s creations has fueled a literary genre called “steampunk.” It blends the hallmarks of a world running on steam power with elements of fantasy, science fiction or speculative fiction. Babbage?s work was the inspiration for “The Difference Engine,? a 1990 novel by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling, one of the first steampunk hits. The novel creates an alternative Victorian world where a steam-powered version of Babbage?s difference engine is created, launching the ?information age? in the 19th century.

Sir arthur C.Clarke died http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/sir-arthur-cclarke-died.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/latest-news/sir-arthur-cclarke-died.html#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:05:37 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/sir-arthur-cclarke-died.html British science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke is to be buried at a private funeral in Sri Lanka. Sir Arthur, the author of science fiction classics such as 2001, died in his adopted home on Wednesday, aged 90. His body has been laid out in a casket at his home near the capital Colombo for mourners to pay respects. Sir Arthur will be buried at Colombo’s General Cemetery on Saturday at 1530 (1000 GMT) in a strictly secular ceremony, his spokesman said. Nalaka Gawardene said Sir Arthur’s last three wishes were for conclusive proof of extraterrestrial life, clean energy to halt global warming and peace in Sri Lanka during his lifetime. “Now unfortunately he didn’t live long enough to see any of these last wishes come true,” she said. “And I think the challenge for all his fans and all his admirers is to make these three wishes come true as early and as comprehensively as possible.” Since 1995, the author had been largely confined to a wheelchair by post-polio syndrome. He died of respiratory complications and heart failure, according to his aide, Rohan De Silva. Sir Arthur was quoted as saying religion was “a necessary evil in the childhood of our particular species”, and he left written instructions that his funeral be completely secular. The Somerset-born author achieved his greatest fame in 1968 when his short story The Sentinel was turned into the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. His visions of space travel and computing sparked the imagination of readers and scientists alike. (BBC News)

The lawsuit was filed in Delaware Chancery Court on Thursday by lawyers representing Detroit’s police and fire retirement system and general retirement system, as well as “all other similarly situated public shareholders.”

According to the lawsuit, Yahoo’s board is pursuing “value-destructive” third-party deals in an effort to fight off Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft, which on Feb. 1 announced a takeover bid of $31 per share in cash and stock, a 62 percent premium over Yahoo’s previous day’s closing price.

15 Tips to Bring More Traffic to Your Blog http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/15-tips-to-bring-more-traffic-to-your-blog.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/15-tips-to-bring-more-traffic-to-your-blog.html#comments Wed, 20 Feb 2008 08:54:57 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/15-tips-to-bring-more-traffic-to-your-blog.html There are many factors that make blogs much better than normal WebPages including the speed at which blogs are indexed, ability to submit to blog directories & normal directories, pings and track backs. All these little things can help drive more traffic to blogs. Here are 15 popular techniques you can use:

1. Create at least four keyword posts per day. Most of the top blogs such as Boing Boing, Daily Kos, and Instapundit (with literally tens of thousands of visitors per day) publish an average of 30 small 100-150 word posts per day according to “Secrets of the A-list Bloggers: Lots of Short Posts” by TNL.net

2. Submit to My Yahoo! When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3. Submit to Google’s Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google’s Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site.

4. Add a relevant link directory to your blog and trade links like a demon possessed! Although it may take more time than simply submitting to a search engine one time, this method is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site. Use software such as Zeus to speed up the link trading process.

5. Use ping sites like ping-o-matic. Ping your site every time you add a new post.

6. Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as AltaVista, and MSN.

7. Submit your blog to traditional directories such as DMOZ. Directories (particularly DMOZ) increase relevance with Google. DMOZ is very picky, but what do you have to lose by trying?

8. Submit to as many RSS Directories and Search Engines as possible. This is a simple but repetitive process that can be done with software such as RSS SUBMIT.

9. Comment on other blogs. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like “I agree.” Leave well thought out replies that will force readers to wonder “who wrote this?”

10. Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site.

11. Go offline. Use newspaper ads, public bulletin boards, business cards, even stickers to let as many people as possible know your blog exists.

12. Add a link to your blog in your e-mail signature block.

13. Use Groups (Usenet). Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure to use your blog URL like it is your name.

14. Use Forums. Forums are one of the best places to go for advice. Go to forums and find problems to solve. Make sure you leave your blog name, but be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave.

15. Tag your website. Tagging is a new idea that has erupted across the web. Sites like Del.icio.us, Technorati and many others have a social feature that allows you to place your article under keywords or “tags” that everyone interested in that tag can see.

Firefox Trick for a Faster Browsing. http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/firefox-trick-for-a-faster-browsing.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/firefox-trick-for-a-faster-browsing.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 08:19:45 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/firefox-trick-for-a-faster-browsing.html Here?s a simple firefox trick for a faster browsing.Firefox saves last 50 visited websites of a single session in the memory and you can quickly access those already visited websites next time you open your browser.

However, 50 websites seem a lot to me and I think there?s no need to save so many websites in the memory as I hardly visit the websites I visited a while ago.The trick is quite simple.Just type about:config in the firefox address bar and then search for this term.

browser.sessionhistory.max_entries

Double click on this term and change it?s default value, which is 50 to a lower value.I?ve set it to 10.You may set the value according to your needs.

Warning : please be carefull when changing the config settings.

RealPlayer Is A Badware ? http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/realplayer-is-a-badware.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/realplayer-is-a-badware.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 08:17:00 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/technology/realplayer-is-a-badware.html ?RealPlayer

Just came across this page at StopBadware, which says that version 10.5 and 11 of RealPlayer is a ?badware?. StopBadware is a Google-backed firm that gives analysis of websites and softwares etc. says users should steer clear of RealPlayer 10.5 and 11, but Real disputes their analysis.

The site says that Real needs to more conspicuous about its intentions to install the message center application in RealPlayer 10.5, and the Rhapsody Player Engine in RealPlayer 11. It recommends that users install neither version until the issues are fixed.

The message center is something that consumers have apparently complained heavily about, and has actually been made optional in RealPlayer 11. Calling it ?advertising software,? StopBadware says that the company fails to fully disclose its intentions. However, in an interview with BetaNews, Real corporate communications head Bill Hankes called the description a stretch of the truth. The only things it ?advertises? are updates to Real software and applications: no third-party advertisements appear.

?That?s incorrect. In RealPlayer 11, you can decline the message center,? he said. ?Earlier versions were criticized by customers who said the message center was intrusive, so in this version we made it optional.?

A second charge by StopBadware was that RealPlayer 11 fails to uninstall all functionality if the user chooses to remove the software. What remains is the Rhapsody Player Engine, which allows for the playback of files encapsulated in Real?s DRM scheme. Hankes described this issue as more of an oversight on Real?s part. ?We actually learned about the issue from this report,? he said, saying that the characterization of Real deceptively installing software ?was a bit harsh.? It would be fixed in a future update.

and here is another flash Bag :

flash bag2

A Russian design for a USB drive that pumps up according to the amount of data stored on it. Nice idea to provide tactile feedback on a device, looks funny but creative nonetheless. And I?m no expert, but it?s going to be tough to get a compressor in there.

How To Really Profit from Domain Names http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/how-to-really-profit-from-domain-names.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/how-to-really-profit-from-domain-names.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 05:15:50 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/how-to-really-profit-from-domain-names.html The cybersquatter buys domain names totally on speculation. Sometimes he will register names of famous brands, companies, or individuals. Time and again, these domain
name speculators learn the hard way that they must respect intellectual property rights. They hope that some large corporation will pay big bucks to them for the use of the company`s own (already trademarked) name. Instead, they end up with threatening letters from a law firm for their attempts at extortion.

However, you can still make money from domain names if you are sensible in your approach. Here are some suggestions on ways to profit.

Use Hyphens in Your Domain Name http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/yes-you-can-use-hyphens-in-your-domain-name-it-makes-them-easy-to-read.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/yes-you-can-use-hyphens-in-your-domain-name-it-makes-them-easy-to-read.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 05:15:31 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/yes-you-can-use-hyphens-in-your-domain-name-it-makes-them-easy-to-read.html Most of the desirable one-word, two-word, and three-word dot com domains are taken. However, if add plurals and hyphenated terms, there is still some gold left in the domain name game. If you find that you need or want to use a phrase or a compound word with two or more words strung together, you can use hyphens. All of the search engine robots read a hyphen as a blank space so you don?t gain or lose anything when you use hyphenated words.

The most important reason for using hyphens is readability. Your keywords are ranked by robots. Your website is read by human beings. If your domain name is theanythinggoesguide.com, it would be much easier to read it as The-anything-goes-guide.com.

A domain name as well as an online business is a long term proposition. You might have to put a bit more effort into your upfront marketing efforts, but don?t be afraid to use hyphens in your domain name. If it?s easy to read, memorable and enhances your online image, hyphens can add to the lasting appeal of your domain name.

Remember that the purpose of the domain name is to make sure that customers remember your web address when they need to get information or buy a product. Anything that is easy to read easily wins out over a long jumbled mess of letters.

Does Online Dating Work? http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/does-online-dating-work.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/does-online-dating-work.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 05:12:14 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/does-online-dating-work.html Dating Online is currently the Internets biggest craze, and its here to stay! But does it actually work?

I mean, there are tons of Dating websites, but their success with matchmaking is kept rather low key, and I found out why.

When I was searching for Online dating websites, I felt that I couldn?t trust many of the companies and that they were just trying to get money out of me. After many hours of research I was exhausted by the idea of Online Dating, it just seemed more hassle than what it was worth, but I was determined to see it through.

A lot of websites that I researched were either free or had rock bottom membership fees, and I found that these were the worst to go to, bar a few exceptions. Eventually I found a handful of websites that I could trust and were worth the money that they were charging, but it just took so long to find these trust-worthy sites.

So I signed up and begrudgingly paid the membership fee. One of the most important aspects I learnt early on is that your personal profile that you place on the dating website should be immaculate! By this I mean spend time modifying and perfecting your profile, as this is what counts the most! The last thing you want is to be receiving messages from other adults who are just not right for you, its better to make contact with another adult who is very similar to yourself, than to make contact with 10 adults who only share a few similarities.

Eventually I started meeting other people who were very compatible to myself, and as a result have made 2 great friends who are now a major part in my life and have been going out with my long-term girlfriend for over a year (I?m planning a trip to New York at Christmas, so that I can propose to her!)

Online Dating has worked wonders for me, even though it?s taken time to get their, and I Strongly believe that if you spent time looking for the right Dating website, that?s suits you and your needs then you will also have similar success. This thought gave me a brainwave.

I thought how great it would be if their was a website that had a list of all the best Dating websites, that listed these trustworthy companies, so that the biggest hassle is taken away and you can start meeting and communicating with other adults, without having to waste time looking for the best companies. So that?s what I did. I designed a website that was split into sections for American Singles, Gay personals, Jewish Singles and Christian Dating, with the best dating websites for each category.

It is full of information about Online Dating, with reviews of every Dating website and loads of interesting, related articles. There is also help on the best way of writing your personal profile.

Best of luck!!

Is There Any Such Thing As Affordable Life Insurance? http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/is-there-any-such-thing-as-affordable-life-insurance.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/is-there-any-such-thing-as-affordable-life-insurance.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 05:11:42 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/is-there-any-such-thing-as-affordable-life-insurance.html Do you need affordable term life insurance? This seems to be the million-dollar question. When you want to purchase life insurance you often do not know how much you need or if there is such a thing as having too much life insurance. What constitutes affordable life insurance and how much you need is totally dependant upon your own situation.

Don’t be fooled into determining the amount of insurance you should have to what your best friend or neighbour has. Remember, every situation is unique and your needs will be unique. Your need will be determined by what you wish to see happen in the event of your death. You do have to look at the life insurance cost of the premiums and decide how much you can afford from your monthly budget. There is affordable life insurance available at very low premiums and that will help your family out in the event of your death.

When considering what affordable life insurance is needed in a family situation, you need to do a life insurance comparison. This will help you get the most affordable rates and there are countless life insurance companies able to help you in this regard.

In order to determine how much life insurance you should have, a number of factors need to be considered. For a person with family needs, these may include such things as:
? Do you have dependants? If so, how long will they be dependant upon you?
? Do you have children? If so, how old are they?
? Do you want to insure your children have a post secondary education?
? Will your household income be greatly reduced upon your death? If so, how much income do you need to replace so your family maintains their standard of living?
? How long will you need to replace your household income?
? What taxes may be incurred upon your death?
? Do you need to cover debt obligations such as loans or a mortgage?

When you try to determine whether or not you can afford life insurance, think about whether or not your family can afford to be without affordable life insurance.

You can find affordable term life insurance, but you need to establish exactly what you need first.

The Fitness Principles http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/the-fitness-principles.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/the-fitness-principles.html#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 05:05:45 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/people/the-fitness-principles.html Almost everywhere you go today, you are approached in
some manner about health and physical fitness. The fact
that a large percentage of Americans are considered obese
has helped increase the marketing of diet, physical fitness,
and health products. You?ll be reminded of health and
fitness on TV, in magazines, on the radio, the news, at
work, almost everywhere you go you?ll see something
about physical fitness.

With all this commotion about fitness, have you joined
the team and started your path to total fitness? If not here
is a brief description of the standards of physical fitness and
what you may do about your current fitness level.

Most experts agree there are five basic components of
fitness. They are:
1)Aerobic Endurance- Your level of aerobic endurance
measures your ability to do moderately strenuous activity
over a period of time. It?s a measurement of how
efficiently your heart and lungs work together to supply
oxygen to your body during exertion and exercise. This
fitness component is also called aerobic fitness.
2) Muscular Endurance- Muscular Endurance measures
your fitness level by your ability to hold a particular position
for a sustained period of time or repeat a movement many
times. One example might be to lift a five-pound weight
20 consecutive times.
3)Muscular Strength- The ability to exert maximum force.
It is possible to have greater muscular strength in one area,
than another. For example, you may have great strength in
your arms, while lacking strength in your legs. One example
might be lifting the heaviest weight you can possibly lift.
4)Flexibility- Flexibility fitness measures the ability to move a
joint through its full range of motion or the elasticity of the
muscle. This is how limber you are.
5)Body Composition- This fitness area measures the
proportion of fat in your body as compared to your bone and
muscle. It does not refer to your weight in pounds or your shape.

If you are weak in any area or need to begin a general overall
fitness plan, there are basically three areas of exercise you should
concentrate upon to make improvements. They are stretching,
aerobic activity, and strength training. Each of these areas is very
important to your overall fitness level. Eating a healthy diet will
also contribute greatly to your overall fitness level.

Remember, it is never too late to improve your fitness level.
Regardless of your physical fitness level, your age, or the length
of time it has been since you last exercised regularly, it?s never
too late to start and maintain a good fitness routine. Your body
is designed to move. If you don?t use it, you lose it. It is just
that simple.

Huge Content Rich Websites for Profit http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/huge-content-rich-websites-for-profit.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/huge-content-rich-websites-for-profit.html#comments Sun, 17 Feb 2008 13:19:56 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/uncategorized/huge-content-rich-websites-for-profit.html
Here is the bare bone - no hype information and a link to the website I built using these techniques. So I not going to lie to you about how much money you can make or how much I made. Simply put, people are making money with these kinds of sites, I just want a piece of the action. This article assumes you have a basic knowledge of HTML, Google Adsense, and Affiliate Advertising.

We’ve all heard the phrases “Content is King” and “If content is King, then relevance is Queen!”. So I’m going to share with you how to build a site based on these principles for profit! I built a 1000+ page content rich website in about 2 days. Check it out at http://articleupdates.com

Website Building tools:

I used DreamWeaver as my html editor. Any good html editor will work such as Frontpage. Go to download.com and search for “html editor”. Coffeecup is a very popular free editor. Basically you need a good editor that will update links site wide automatically. Give you reports on broken links, and do search and replace site wide, file specific, and etc… Also very important is a good table building capability.

For the content I pulled articles from various free content sites. As long as you adhere to the terms of fair use, you will have access to thousands of content rich articles that you can put in your own website.

Get a simple clipart cd with 150,000 royalty free images from Bestbuy for $20.

Then plug in your affiliate codes for google adsense, clickbank, and commission junction.

You don’t have to be an html expert. Just having some basic programming knowlege is enough. For example, understanding head, body, and building tables. Inserting variables and doing global changes. Any good html editor will help with that. You really need to become an expert at building tables. They are fast loading and can really make an impact on a site. If you are into css, even better!

Key Features for SEO: Keyword Rich and Relevant!

Building with SEO (search engine optimization) in mind. Use these techniques when building your site!

Niche Site: Pick a very specific topic. I chose “Making Money Online with Content Rich Sites” for this example.

Use a simple structure. Index page to “Index of Articles”. Then “Index of Articles” to each individual article page. Two levels, easy to manage, easy to spider!

Make your site surfer friendly: No hidden pages, re-directs, pop-ups, spyware, java, or scripts. Just use “.html” files with text links to full text content rich pages which are also easily spidered with useful relevant information for the visitor. Include lots of articles including a few unique pages that you have written yourself.

Now start building your basic template for all the pages on your site. How you build your template will greatly depend on what editor and tools you’ll be using. For example: most times you’ll do something like Huge Content Rich Websites for Profit. When you go to build your 1000+ page site, the editor will replace the title tag with the appropriate text dynamically.

Title Tag and Description Tags and all other meta tags should be relevant and keyword rich.

Page Title
- Use relevant keywords on each index page to the articles
- Use the article title which will have additional relevant keywords for each article page.

H1 Tags - Keyword rich and relevant ex: “Make Money Online”, “Home Based Business”

H2 Tags - Use the article title in the article pages. ex: “10 Ways To Make Money Online”

robot.txt file for spiders - just a simple two line file in your root directory
User-agent: *
Disallow:

Body text - Use content rich articles. Also use high color contrast between the text and the background so the search engine doesn’t think your trying to hide anything and penalize you. Plus it’s just plain easier to read. Use arial or verdana font.

URLs, File Names, and Directories - use the article title
ex: http://articleupdates.com/i-home-business/five-ways-to-increase-your-affiliate-sales.html

Inbound links: Set up link partners. If you can, have them place the link to your site using a keyword instead of the domain name itself. ex: Make Money Online Click Here.

Outbound links: Do the same for your link partners. Set up links using text that is relevant to their topic which should be relevant to your site but not competing if possible. If you sell computers, link to a company that sells computer desks.

Make same site links with relevant text. ex: “make money at home” will link to a page within your own site.

Make Image alt text use primary keywords. ex: “money online”

Add HTML comment tags that use primary keywords. These are not seen buy the surfer, but can be seen by search engine spiders. No one has proven this helps, but it doesn’t hurt!

Now add money making adsense and affiliate links on every page. Put them top center between the article title and article content. Adjust the colors so that is blends in with your web page content.

Google adsense will pick up the page title, h1 and h2 tags to target the ad. When someone clicks on it, you get paid!.

Once you have these basic things set up in your template, you need to use a powerful tool called Article Equalizer. With a little practice, you’ll be able to build 1000+ page websites in just a day or two. The link to Article Equalizer is http://hop.clickbank.net/?mark6188/articleeq

Another important thing you can do: Add dynamic RSS content by keyword. I’ll follow up on this in my next article.

10 Tips For Web Success http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/10-tips-for-web-success.html http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/10-tips-for-web-success.html#comments Sun, 17 Feb 2008 13:18:30 +0000 Tharshan http://www.londoninfotech.net/web-designing/10-tips-for-web-success.html The webmaster’s biggest job is to get their traffic up and keep customers/visitors coming back. Building the site is one thing, but simply building and posting a website does not guarantee traffic. In fact, a website could be beautiful and an example of all the latest technology and still not attract a single visitor if not promoted correctly. Here are 10 tips to guide you to success with your website.

(1) The internet is a new medium.
At least compared to print, it is. A website is a waste if it simply re-hashes something which could easily be put into print. Don’t have the site be just an online brochure. Put up features which take advantage of the internet as a medium of communication. Filter information for them. Provide search capability. Provide interactivity with features like forums, quizzes and tools. Web visitors like to interact.

(2) Treat the Customer’s Time as Valuable.
When a person visits your website, you have their attention for that point in time. You either need to use it or you will lose it - fast. Most visitors have short attention spans, what you need to design your site homepage so that it grabs their attention and provides what they are looking for right away. Its like walking into a restaurant. If you walk in and just stand there and nobody comes to greet you, you might wonder what is happening. But, if the hostess comes and greets you right away and walks you to a table, then you will be there for awhile and eat. The same analogy goes for websites. Don’t overcomplicate your website homepage. Best results will be obtained if you make it very clear where to click to find what they need.

(3) Design the site for customers, not the company.
Your site needs to satisfy the needs of customers, not the company. So, don’t post content which is not really useful to the site’s customer. And avoid over-flattering marketing hype about the company. It inflates the ego of the company more than it helps your customer.

(4) Involve the Visitor.
Keep the visitor involved and make them feel like a valuable contributor. Actively ask for the feedback and suggestions. Ask for communication from your visitors and answer that communication swiftly. When getting that communication, capture their email address. This will allow you to communicate with them long after they have moved on and forgotten about you.

(5) Keep it Current.
You need to have content on your website which is timely and relevant to the customer’s life. Posting month-old news is not interesting. Posting dry product information which never changes is not interesting. Yes, you need to have product information and other information on your site that won’t change much, but you can also post more timely content. You can, for example, post content about how your products can be used in certain situations in life. Provide tips and techniques - things which are immediately applicable and solve a problem.

(6) Pay Attention to Form/Design.
Some sites simply over-do it on the eye-candy. Big graphics just for the sake of graphics often impress the site’s designer more than the visitor. Do not use graphics that are large and purposeless. Remember, some visitors may still be accessing your website via dial-up. Your site needs to load up quickly for all users. A slow website will cause your users to leave quickly. Also, pay attention to graphic and design size. Many web designers operate on fairly large screen resolutions and sometimes forget that even though a graphic looks great to you, it will appear enormous to somebody on a smaller resolution. On the flip side, don’t go too light on graphics. A site which is poorly designed and using the default font and no color is not very aesthetically pleasing. Any web visitor, whether they admit it or not, judges your company by your website unless they have something else to go on. A well-designed site communicates professionalism. A poor design makes the site seem like an afterthought.

(7) Promote.
When a visitor communicates to you via email, it is best to use a web form. not only will this keep your email address from being picked up by spammers, it will also allow you to ask your customers for their email address and then store that address for later use. Employ the “push/pull” marketing strategy. A visitor coming to your website is the pull, but later you want to push content back to them in the form of a newsletter or other promotional material. Start a mailing list and use it. Invite visitors to sign up. Promotion makes or breaks a business, and as long as you respect the ethical considerations of your mailing list, you should use it.

(8) Don’t Operate in a Cocoon.
The internet is a medium which is shared by millions. When you set up your website, don’t operate as if you are a self-contained island. Get out there and keep in tune with what is happening on other websites related to your own. Participate in forums. Post links to other websites and ask for a link in return. Form partnerships with other sites if it is appropriate. When it comes to communication, people like personal contacts. Hiding behind general email address like “sales” and “info” is OK as long as there is a way to also email you directly. A company site which allows email direct to the management is good. Just remember how much you hate calling a company and getting stuck in their phone system. Sometimes you just want to talk to somebody. Give your visitors that ability.

(9) Have a Plan to Attract Repeat Traffic.
Use newsletters, out-going email, contests, forums, clubs, auctions - anything that will cause people to return to your website. When posting links to other websites, don’t just send your visitors somewhere else. They may never return. Provide them an exit page. Give them a pop-up when they try to leave your site. Or at the very least make external links open in a new window.

(10) Track Your Visitors
Pay attention to your site’s statistics and react accordingly. What are people reading? How are they finding you? Do they just come and leave right from your homepage? How long as they are on your website? Do they return? This data is immensely valuable in fine-tuning your website based on customer needs and wants. Remember, the biggest mistake of any webmaster is designing the site for what THEY want. A successful website is designed for the target audience, not to impress the site’s owner.
