Stand up paddling and longboarding are the worlds quickest growing watersports. I love versatility of longboarding, the exhilaration of going fast, and the joy of ripping a wave. It doesn't matter with one of these longboards whether its with sail or without, with a paddle or without. When there's enough wind you can get your windsurfing fix, when the wind dies you can use your paddle, stand up, and catch a wave.

The feeling of the wind in my face and being out on the water with the elements are just an added zen quality that gives the sport of stand up paddling the ability to still even the busiest mind, and sing to your soul. What an awsome return to the glory days of longboarding, combined with the indestructable materials of todays superboards!

There is no exact science to finding the right longboard, surfboard, or paddleboard. The general rule is that the bigger the board, the easier it is to learn. The smaller boards will be more maneuverable but more challenging to learn on. I recommend starting on a MILLENNIAL hand-shaped longboard. Most of their surfboards are hand-shaped, and made from a new hard and durable epoxy rather than the old heavy fiberglass that surfboards used to be made of.

Most beginners start on a longboard (8-10 feet) because it's the easiest. Some want to learn on a mid-sized board (7-8 feet or so) that is more maneuverable than a longboard but still great for learning.

Then there are those athletic people that want to jump right in with a normal shortboard that will be much more challenging but super fun to do tricks on as you progress. A shortboard normally would be anything under 6'6" or so. If you want a shortboard you generally would want one that is at least four inches taller than you as long as you're of normal weight for your height.

If you're larger you probably would want a bigger longboard. You can't go wrong by getting a bigger surfboard and going to a smaller surfboard as your skill increases. Good Luck!!!
