Hello All,

After 4 years of exciting and memorable stint with sapient, I am bidding adieu today to this company to pursue other career opportunities. As I move on, I would like to take a moment to remember and cherish our times together. It’s been great interacting and knowing each one of you.

I have enjoyed working for this company and I appreciate having had this wonderful opportunity to work with you all. During these four years you all have provided me support and through your encouragement and guidance I have been able to excel at the projects offered to me. With many of you, I have shared a unique camaraderie which I hope will continue in the years to come even though I shall not be here with the company. I now look forward to this new position that brings forth new challenges and adds more diverse experience to my career.

I do wish you and the company every success in all it future endeavors.

DV Sadananda Gowda is CM of Karnataka

As expected in my earlier discussion, smiley DV Sadananda Gowda, has now become the chief minister of Karnataka. Gowda won his first assembly election in 1994 and is won MLA twice and as a MP twice.

Gowda defeated Jagadish Shettar in a secrete ballot today. and Jagadish Shettar name nominated as Deputy CM.

"I will do my job well. It is a great honour," said Gowda after he was elected as the leader of BJP legislative party.

The 58-year-old Gowda has always been a party loyalist and a hardcore RSS man. Hailing from the Vokkaliga community, Gowda started his career as an advocate in Puttur near Mangalore. His close association with RSS made him a local BJP leader, an MLA and later an MP.

Gowda was Karnataka state BJP president between 2007 and 2010.

The Gowda-BS Yeddyurappa combination won the 2008 Karnataka Assembly polls and 2009 India Lok Sabha polls in the state.

The big question in state peoples mind is, how long gowd can survive as cm in the mining corrupted state and with in party issues.

Samsung, South Korea based company agreed to stop advertising and sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia until it wins court approval or resolves this issue.

Samsung came to this decision A day after apple files lawsuit against Samsung for using its patents including the "look and feel" and "touchscreen" technology of the iphone and iPad. Apple also seeking courts help in stopping Samsung from selling the tablet in other countries with out specifying names. Andhra CM missing; search ops on

Andhra Pradesh CM Rajashekhar Reddy's chopper was declared untraceable after his chopper made an emergency landing in Atmakur area of Kurnool district on Wednesday afternoon. Officials said that the chopper had landed safely in a playground but the whereabouts of the CM are being kept under wraps as it is a naxalite-infested area and the Nallamalla forests-the stronghold of Maoists-are closeby.

The CM is on a three-district tour and was proceeding towards Chittor for an inauguration function when the chopper apparently went off the radar of air traffic control tower at Begumpet airport in Hyderabad. The Bell 430 chopper with call sign VTAPG lost contact with the ATC at 79 nautical miles from Begumpet and was in visual flying range.

Sources said that the Kurnool District Collector called up the ATC to say a chopper has landed on an open field near Bhanucharla village. However, there was no communication from the pilot or the officials accompanying the CM about their whereabouts.

Objective

To decrease the environmental damage by promoting awareness about the harmful impact of immersion of Ganapati idols containing artificial(non-clay) materials, toxic paints.
To spread the knowledge of the traditional way of celebrating Ganapati and its true meaning and significance.

Motivation

Vinayaka Chaturthi, like most other Sanatana Dharma practices, is intended to promote awareness of the importance of the environment and the close dependencies between the human species and the environment. The Rishis were aware of the enormous negative impact of unmitigated human activities on the whole environment and its effect on human welfare. The various festivals at different times of the year are part of elaborate lessons/reminders to mankind about maintaining harmony with the environment apart from help with man’s spiritual journey.
However, over the last few decades, the original practices have been transformed to being more lavish, more ornate and has resulted in direct negative impact on the environment both ecologically and socially. It has almost turned the very concept of celebrating Ganapati pooja on its head to an activity that is causing lots of environmental damage. These inconsistencies (between original intent and actual practice) left unaddressed could typically undermine the true celebrations in the longer run.

Environmental Inconsistencies

Ganapati idols made of clay are colored using oil paints. These paints contain toxic ingredients that get released to the water and soil after immersion. These toxic chemicals have a harmful affect on plants, animals and humans.
The paints used to colour Ganapati idols have toxic materials like Chromium etc. These toxic materials are released to the water in which the idols are immersed. In many places, the idols are immersed in open wells, tanks, lakes, rivers, sea. These water bodies are also used for drinking water and irrigation and other activities. These toxins when released to water seep into the soil and cause both short-term and long-term impact on the the environment and health.
At the pandals, lots of plastic is typically used and not properly disposed.

Social Inconsistencies

Ganapati Pandals are set up almost one for each street, instead of having a more inclusive participation, it sometimes leads to more divisive, exclusive gatherings.
The focus of these pandals is sometimes more on display of clout, money collection, playing loud inappropriate music and less on collective participation.
Ganapati Pandals are sometimes organized at any point in time sometimes extended much beyond the traditional days (chaturthi to Chaturdashi).

This effort is to establish a consistent, uniform message about the best practices for Ganapati festival and thereby increasing the awareness of the environmental issues facing the world.
While some efforts are being made by individuals and organizations to reach out to the masses with the message., there is a need for a concerted, inclusive movement.
A key push to this movement is to get the help of religious heads to guide the movement and provide a united message to all sections.
To help co-ordinate, share resources and information among all individuals and organizations working towards this cause.

The Method

Use the internet to help promote awareness, co-ordinate activities. Create a website , provide all resources there.
Email blitz – circulate by email a presentation /document with the content.
Produce short video clips with the message and propagate through volunteers by free screenings in Schools, Colleges, Temples, Satsanghs, other community gatherings.
Also, make the film available on the internet for free screeings and download. Make the documentary available to the mass media (TV, Radio ) for free broadcast for greater reach.
The documentary must be made available in Kannada, English initially. Include content in other languages as feasible.
The tone of the message is positive with the intention to provide information on the best way to celebrate Ganapati pooja individually at homes, or collectively in pandals. While the key message is about what idols to use, and the best way for immersion, it should also include the other key aspects like the spiritual, social, religious practices during the festival.

Some Peppermint Tejpal wrote a review in Mumbai Mirror, that is if it can be called a review, posing as if he is the world expert on cinema. If the only qualification of a reviewer is to just have an opinion then I would really like to know the process of a paper choosing and employing a reviewer out of millions of opinion makers. If it’s not about his opinion and it’s about expertise then what is peppermint’s expertise. It would be nothing but him being in love with himself the way he can rip apart a film much more than even his actual hatred for the film. So a Mayank Shekar leaves for a higher salary or some other reason and they fill his space with peppermint who nobody knows and after the reviews of 2 or 3 films he becomes as popular primarily because of the brand of the newspaper and the more nastier he becomes the more popular he becomes because instinctively this breed of reviewers understand this from the popularity of their predecessor Khalid Mohammed.

Twenty years ago Khalid wrote a review of my first film “SHIVA” calling it a piece of junk which is considered to be a cult film by most today. And believe it or not the same Khalid referred to it as a cult classic in a certain context of a review he wrote for some other film 10 years later. So does his mind work 10 years slower? After being kicked out and down the ladder from TOI to Mid-day to DNA, to HT to Asian Age, I hear that he writes for some obscure website which I doubt even 5 people will read. Also I hear some horrifying news that he is making another film and that news I think is more horrifying than any horrifying film I ever made. To fund him after those 3 or 4 fantastic masterpieces he made, his investors have to be one hundred time more dumber than any of my investors.

Also I have no problem in getting one star from sweetie cutie Anupama who thinks “Eklavya” is a classic and the lesser said about the Buffalo Bumzai the better. (I have gone this personal taking a leaf from them). I can’t get over the glee in Bumzai’s eyes when she is ripping a film. But I feel also that the psychology of these critics pales in comparison in negativisim to the psychological aspect behind the point of criticism by itself.

The purpose of a review could be to warn a viewer of how a film is and probably to prepare a mindset. But does anybody believe that this alone would be the intention of any of the reviewers. Eventually a film is a commercial product in a consumer market sheerly because so much money and so many people’s efforts, careers and businesses are linked with it. A car manufacturer comes out with a new model, it’s fair enough that some relevant expert can give his views on the car’s good and bad points to an ignorant customer. But he cannot go on a trip of a personal attack on the manufacturer and to having his presumptions on the intent of manufacturing the car.

So why is this discrimination against the cinema industry alone? Every other product put out there in the market gets a chance to be judged by the consumer directly whether he likes it or not, whereas only in the film industry’s case its products are constantly judged, ridiculed, made fun of, misinterpreted in the eyes of the people by using the platforms of mass mediums like newspapers and television channels.

It is not realized by many that hundreds of people and their families livelihoods are dependent upon a films run. To indiscriminately run down a film in a glee to hit at the maker will result in lot more hurt to many other people associated with the film in various others ways namely the actors, technicians, distributors, exhibitors etc who primarily have no way of controlling how a film will shape up but yet will bear the brunt of its failure in many cases much more than the maker.

Having said all this, more than the critics who enjoy trashing films it’s us film folk who relish a bad review as long as it’s someone else’s film and not our film. I think it is human nature to enjoy negativity. We like to hear bad things, we love to hear failure of others so that by default we feel successful. As long as it is in the realm of fantasy and wishful thinking that’s fair enough as like I said it is human trait which we can’t escape from but when it is implemented in a practical aspect it can damage the whole system.

The whole film industry literally celebrated the trashing of KAMBHAKT ISHQ as each of them would be jealous of Akshay’s raise and the brand of the film. The fact that they feel so small in front of that picture in the pre-release hype gives a high to them when it is being ripped. I hated KAMBHAKT ISHQ myself but I don’t think I or anybody have a right to come in between that film and the guy who wants to see it. If I go to a store to buy a shirt after seeing an advertisement by the manufacturer, the shop keeper has a right to display his goods in whichever attractive manner he chooses and I and every single customer have a right to choose whatever we want to buy depending directly on our individual tastes and sensibilities etc. But I would not want a guy to be at the door psyching me and influencing me on what to buy and what not to buy.

So as long as this discrimination is only on film products, unless we film folks take time off from enjoying other’s films being trashed and realize that the species of critics are becoming a disease to the film industry and its objectives after expending months and years work, we still would be continuing to be at the mercy of a few uninformed idiots who have nothing to loose and with zero accountability.

Also I respect a media enterprise for the intention of its creation and as a system in whole. But I would like to ask them to question themselves if the likes of peppermint are really worthy of representing their system.

Why AGYAAT?
I believe that a film is an emotional experience. It can make you laugh or cry or make you scared or thrill you. AGYAAT was designed as a concept on whether I as a director can through the use of just sound efx, background music and camera movements create a being just in the imagination of the audience and not show it at all. Apart from this I wanted to play with the changing mindsets of people who are in a stressful situation. Fair enough a few liked the concept, few didn’t, few thought I should have shown and others thought I did the right thing. This reaction is expected for anything which has not been done before and tried for the first time. Yes, everyone has a right to feel what they felt. Not only me no filmmaker anywhere will ever do a film which he thinks will not be accepted by the audience, but what they will accept one cannot know unless tried and only that’s how advancement in narrative styles and film techniques will progress.

Financials of AGYAAT
AGYAAT is made on such a small budget and because of that it’s a Hit on financial terms even before it released on account of pre-sales because of its potential in various markets due to the universality of the genre.

As for the individual members in the audience are concerned some liked it very much for its various different aspects and some others didn’t for the same and I appreciate and respect both their views equally.

The day went really good even though its dry day and veg day. I really felt why don’t we follow every day bapu principles,

I truly dont know whether god exists or not but when i feel alone or think something out of my mind i sit and pray lord anjaneya which gives me tremendous energy to move forward. Whether its belief or something else but i like it and follow. Why I am discussing this here is Gandhi principles really gives us something why dont we blindly follow them everyday instead of restricting for one day on the name of bapu birthday. bapu principles not really meant for one day its to celebrate every day, entire year and every year.

On this very special occasion I thought to remind bapuji principles once... not just to read them once again but also to follow at least some of them till we remind them and I hope we are intelligent enough not to forget them at all!!!

Truth: learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself

What we think, we become and therefore if you always are thinking of hurting someone or feeling extremely angry at someone, those are the vibes you'll be giving to others. Best way to be nonviolent is to think positive and believe that whatever happens, it is for a good reason.

· Vegetarianism: not everyone can resist meat, but you can control your consumption. For health reasons, avoiding eating a lot of red meat is a good idea.

· Brahmacharya: many of us want to get married and have children or be intimate with someone. Therefore, becoming a brahmacharya might not be possible. However, you could reduce thinking of the opposite sex as an object. You could also wait to be intimate with someone till after marriage.

· Simplicity: life in the western countries tends to be quite fast. Do you need the latest fashion clothing or can you wear the clothes you already have? Do you need 50-100 pairs of shoes? Do you need the latest gadgets? Do you need a brand new BMW? Simplicity doesn't mean foregoing all your desires, but not buying something right away or something you don't really need. Simplicity also means being happy with what you are given and have.

· Faith: believing that there is someone or something higher than you. You don't need to believe in God, but believing that everyone is equal and you are no less or more than someone else. It is knowing your values, ethics and morals. Faith is not following others blindly especially when someone else is doing something that your heart says is not right.

If you have decided to change a part of your life, you will need to be patient because there are days when you might fail and then you will need courage to start again.

ICICI bank ATMs were Empty in most of locations in india due to rumors circulating about its its financial strength, I hope there is need of any action required but want to share this news so that probably all of you are aware of this fact.

India's second-largest bank, ICICI lose certaintly huge in sensex yesterday on the back of negative news.

In a statement, chief executive K.V. Kamath said ICICI's banking and non-banking units were well capitalised and the impact of the current market conditions on its investment portfolio would not pose any challenge to its capital position.

But other side of it is all ICICI ATM's become empty today and customers complaining other bank atms are not permitting to withdraw money for those who are holding ICICI debit cards.

Stepping in to stem the tide following the run-on ICICI Bank in some parts of the country, the Reserve Bank today said the largest private lender has sufficient liquidity and the organisation was well capitalised.

"There are reports in some sections of the media that based on rumours regarding the financial strength of ICICI Bank, depositors are withdrawing cash at its ATMs and branches in some locations," the RBI said in a statement.

The central bank clarified that the ICICI Bank has sufficient liquidity, including in its current account with the RBI, to meet the requirements of its depositors.

"The Reserve Bank of India is monitoring the developments and has arranged to provide adequate cash to ICICI Bank to meet the demands of its customers at its branches and ATMs.

"The ICICI Bank and its subsidiary banks abroad are well capitalised," the statement said.

Green Initiative | Phasing out of paper cups at IT office- A thought !

We have been using the paper cups in our office for drinking coffee/ Tea & water. For the global warming, lack of trees being one of the main reason.

Just for the information, here are some interesting facts about the paper cups usage as follows (Facts & figures extracted from an internet site),

· On an average, we consume 6,000 paper cups per working day (4 cups/person/day)

· Consumption of 6,000 paper cups per working day equals to 30,844 Kgs of paper, generating of 67,132 kgs of solid waste per year

· On an average, we use 16,50,000 paper cups in a year which equals to the cutting of 4,520 tree/ year

· The above facts are only for one office. Just imagine for the other offices !!!

New method our company Sapient following:

· We are using Steel mugs for Coffee/ Tea & pearl pet bottles for drinking water. With this we will phase out usage of paper cups in all pantries in floors.

· At Cafeteria, we are using the steel glasses for drinking water.
