Anything But a Card

Hi Everyone!! Today starts a new challenge over at Through the CraftRoom Door (TTCRD)! I hope you will jump on over and join us over there. Today’s challenge is Anything but a Card and make your own embellishments. How fun right? And so many possibilities.

So my project is really a Non-Project. I have been working on reorganizing my craft area after relocating it over Christmas Break. One of the big things I wanted was better Copic storage. My husband made my last storage unit but I have outgrown it – you can see my old storage HERE.

So I designed a new storage unit that will hold up to 600 Sketch Markers! Yes I know, Copic doesn’t have 600 colors yet but I will be prepared!! I also wanted to be able to store them by color family - so my homemade embellishment is the the storage cabinet itself!

I decorated it with some vinyl and some Gilli stamps. I am not sure I like the way the decorations turned out, but I can always change them later.

Gilli Towel

Hi Everyone!! It’s my turn to share a project with for the new Anything Goes challenge at the House of Gilli. I am so excited to share my first Gilli project of 2012 with all of you!

I am always willing to try new projects so today I thought I would try coloring with my Copics on fabric! I know, I know – I am not the first to do this. In fact I used this great video by Suzanne J. Dean as my inspiration for todays project.

I used Girly 2 Gilli for this fun project. I started with a plain Flour Sack towel. I love these things. They are great for drying dishes as they do not leave any lint behind. I think I must have at least 20 of these in my closet. I then stamped Girly 2 using Memento Black ink. Being very careful I started coloring with my copics. Don’t get too close to the edges or the ink will bleed out. I used the following colors: E00 for her skin (layered it for shading), E33, E35 and Y38 for her hair and finally R81, R83 and R85 for her dress, shoes and hair bows.

Hi Everyone!! Welcome to 2012!! I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year and is excited for what 2012 has to bring.

Today started a new challenge over on Through The Craftroom Door Challenge Blog – the current theme is a Monochromatic project. I am finding that I really like these monochromatic projects. It is so fun to find items that fit the theme. I made a card in blue for this challenge. I stepped out of my comfort zone a little and went with a distressed feel.

I think it turned out quite nice!

Stole Gilli

Hi Everyone! I have Red and Gold inspiration project today for the House of Gilli Challenge Blog. I choose Stole Gilli to showcase in red today. I love how elegant she is.

It didn’t show up well in the picture but the cord is gold cord also. I used a Gold Copic Spica pen to color her purse and shoes because we all need to have a little bling on our matching accessories, right?

A Day For Daisies

Hi Again!! Well I promised you something special today… So be sure to read this entire post for a very special surprise.

This great Warm In Winter bird image was graciously donated by A Day for Daisies for me to use for this challenge. I had so much fun coloring it in! So easy to use and I love that I can make it any size I want for my project!

I colored this image in with my Copic Markers, cut it out using my Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities and then added some Polar White Flower Soft to give it some texture and dimension.

All the other elements on this card are actually part of my background paper! I made this paper using a new Digital Software that I was given to try out and review – My Memories Suite! I have to say – this is my first time trying a digital “scrapbooking” program and I am impressed. I downloaded this program over the weekend and this is my first project – it was so easy to use!

I will have more projects with this program and an amazing giveaway on Wednesday! So be sure to come back and find out more about it!

Graduate Gilli

Hi Everyone! It’s time for another challenge over at the House of Gilli Challenge Blog! This challenge is to create a Monochromatic project!

I used Graduate Gilli today. I started with a piece of Glossy Paper and used my Paisley Impressabillities to create the background texture. Then I added Alcohol Ink in Black and Silver Mixative to color the paper. I added some black lace and some black I-Rock faux brads. Some Black Recollections Mulberry Mini Roses (my favorite roses of all time) to anchor the card and add some more texture. My scalloped oval is cut from silver foil and I used dimensionals to give it some added depth.

Gilli is colored with my Copics. I sometimes struggle with getting enough dimension when I color with blacks – but I keep practicing. I added some silver pen to accent some of the folds in the graduation gown.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with for our Monochromatic Challenge!

My project for the hop is a fun note holder gift. This is a fun gift to give as a teacher/hostess/coworker gift. For my project I used the Word Collage cartridge and my Cri-Kits Glitter Gel Pens. This is a great way to use this cartridge. I cut the two different Christmas Word Collages one at 2 inches and the other at 4 inches. I love the way the words turned out! So many uses!! I also cut the musical note from the Quarter Note cartridge. I cut the base layer out of red cardstock and and the top layer out of the same cream cardstock that I drew my words on. I then ran it through my Xyron (upside down) and covered it in black glitter. So simple and it really adds some nice texture and bling!

This great little gift sits so nicely on a desk and keeps the pad of Post-It notes handy. When the notes run out just tape another pad over top and it is a good as new.

All the paper and the ribbon are from my scrap bin (I love being able to use my scraps for projects!)

A little Fall Love

Hi Everyone! It is time for a new challenge over at TTCRD challenge blog. I hope you are able to come and join us.

This will be our 13th challenge over at TTCRD and the challenge runs from November 1st through November 14th. The Theme is “Fall” in Love, and it must have leaves and use the color brown, tan or kraft. Our great sponsor for this challenge is Karber Digital and they have offered the great prize of 3 digis of the winners choice

Here is the project that I made for this great challenge.

I decided not to use the digital image as the focal point in this project but as a background image (I love the versatility that digi images allow). By using a couple different sizes of the same image I was able to make a fun background for my Mulberry leaves. I cut and embossed the leaves using my Spellbinders dies and the sentiment is a TPC Studio stamp. Some buttons and twine and I have a great fall card to send out.

Recycle and Texture Challenge

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to bring you a new challenge over on The House Of Gilli today! I have been so excited about this challenge. I love to repurpose stuff and so this is the perfect challenge for me. We want you to use something Recycled on your project and incorporate lots of Texture too!

Here is my project for you today…

I always color my images but wanted to try something different. I had some kraft paper left over from another project and decided that this was the project to use it on. I simply stamped Stole Gilli on the kraft cardstock and then used some FlowerSoft to add some color and texture to her hat and stole. All the cardstock and DSP that I used are leftovers from other projects that I had in my scrap bin. The corrugated piece is part of a box that I cut up and peeled the paper backing off to expose the texture. The lace is some leftover trim that I thought added another nice texture element to the card. The letters are chipboard letters that I covered with more scrap paper. Here is a good picture of all the layers of texture on the card…

I hope you are inspired to try your had at a project using something recycled and some texture too.

Gilli Ghost

Hi Everyone! Wow – What a crazy week I have in store this week. So much going on, but I am happy to share this project with you today. This project project is for two challenges. Our Purple, Orange, Green, Black and White challenge over on the House of Gilli Challenge Blog and the Halloween challenge over at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central. It is also a bitter-sweet project for me. This will be my last project for Stamping Scrapping. I have elected to step down from the SS design team to allow for more family time. It was a hard decision but one that was best for my family. I will miss designing for them but know their new team will do a great job.

For my project, Stroll Gilli is all dressed up as a Ghost for Halloween. I had so much fun coming up with this fun design. I love it when I can incorporate multiple textures into my projects. I love the glittered pumpkins along with the canvas of Gilli’s ghost costume. She even put some great green streaks in her hair!!

Today I was inspired by this great quote “What Pensive Beauty Autumn Shows“ by William Wordsworth. It made me think of all the great fall colors and the feel of the autumn air. Shopper Gilli seemed a perfect fit for this card. I loved coloring her in earth tones with just a pop of color.

I used my Copic markers to color her in. She is such a fun Gilli to color. I love how many different looks she can have.

Gilli’s Birthday Party Hop!

Project, Announcement and New Challenge!

What a crazy few weeks it has been around my house! Between school starting up, Cross Country starting, Swim team tryouts and being sick, I am playing catch up! This post is late – I had it pre-scheduled and just realized it never posted so I am reposting it. I am also “borrowing” some amazing wording (much better than what I had) from Lisa Haines at the Purple Place! Thanks Lisa!

First I am so excited to make a wonderful announcement! I have been selected to join an amazing group of Designers at Through the Craftroom Door. TTCRD is the fabulous Craft Publication created by Suzanne Dean and Marti Wills. I am so pleased to be able to share my talents alongside this amazing Design Team! For my project I decided NOT to make a card. I wanted something fun to kick off my first challenge at TTCRD.

I LOVE to make these cute little treat holders. They go together so quickly and are easy to have on had for a fun little thank you or hostess gift. I actually made one for every staff member at my school this year as a “Welcome Back” gift. Because who doesn’t appreciate a little chocolate surprise after a hard days work?

These “sour cream'” containers can be filled with your choice of goodie – my favorites are M&M’s or Hershey Nuggets. After taping these together crimp the edges to give them a finished look and help them hold together.

I had so much fun creating this project and am thrilled to be part of this wonderful team. You'll also find some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team and you can find the cards posted on the Challenge Blog Here, including links to each of their personal blogs. We'd love for you to show them some LOVE!!

A Flowered Box

Hi Everyone! School just started this week and why do I forget, every year, how crazy this first week is? It seems even thought we thought we were prepared – there are just so many more things to do.

I made this super quick and easy box for you today and decorated it with an adorable Lilly I made using some McGill punches. My oldest daughter's current favorite color is Orange and she is in need of some storage for her growing bead collection – so I thought I would surprise her with a cute little storage box.

This box took me about 15 minutes to make - start to finish so it will be no problem when she wants a different one in a week or two because she has decided she hates orange (any of you pre-teen moms know what I am talking about here).

The box is just a couple of square pieces of heavy cardstock that I scored on my Scor-Pal and then cut a couple of finger notches in. So quick and easy to make. I glued a few floral beads (the kind you would put in a vase) on the bottom of the box to raise it up a little and give it a more finished look. I used blue beads because my daughter likes things just a little “different" and unexpected. I am really hoping she likes this little touch.

Here is a close-up of the details on the flower – these are so fun and easy to make. I added some chalk and used a marker to give the flower a more realistic look. The crystal in the center is because it just needed a little bling to make it pop!

Party On Gilli!!

Hello Everyone!! So glad you were able to stop in today! I have my interpretation of an Easel Card with flowers for you today for the House of Gilli Challenge Blog. This is my first attempt at an easel card – so if I can do it so can you!! Please make sure to enter your creation in the Inlinkz over at the House of Gilli for your chance to win a Gilli Goodie!! Did you know that Gilli is turning 1 this month?? Well she is!! What does that mean? Well it means a PARTY – of course!! Stay tuned for more details. So in honor of her birthday I made her a birthday card. I used Balloon Gilli for this card – isn’t she beautiful? I also used some free digi stamps for the September Calendar and Sentiment. Cindy has started a series and with have calendar digi’s for every month – and the best part? They are Free! So hop on over to her blog BlueBirdFlats to snag yours!

Gilli’s dress and shoes are paper pieced and her balloons are done with Stickles – because you know there needs to be some sparkle somewhere!!

Introducing Gilli Fairy 2!

Hi Everyone! I am so happy to be able to introduce Gilli Fairy 2 to you today! I love this sophisticated Gilli. I think she looks so mature!!

Scor-Tape Tutorial

Hi Everyone! It’s my day to share a tutorial over on the Stamping Scrapping Design Team Blog. I thought I would share some ways to use one of my favorite products :: Scor-Tape! This is by far my all time favorite adhesive. I use it all the time.

Flower Shoppe meets Parisian Gilli!

Hi Everyone! I had so much fun making this project for you today! I was able to combine this adorable new Parisian Gilli with my new Flower Shoppe and Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridges! I am in love with all of these. I this this New Gilli release. Such great images. Gilli is really growing up, in fact she is almost 1! Hmm… do I detect and upcoming party? Stay tuned for more information about Gilli’s First Birthday Party!

I used the new Parisian Gilli and colored her with my Copic markers. I just love the way Gilli’s Polka Dot shirt ended up. She is just so flirty and fun. See the end of this post for the Copic colors I used.

The black frame and purple border are both from the Snowflake image on the Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge. The Flower was made from the Sunflower1 (cut at 3 1/4 “) and Sunflower4 (cut at 2”) images from the Flower Shoppe Cricut Cartridge! So fun and easy to make! I did mist the flowers with some Frost Shimmer Spritz to give them some sparkle and to make them a little more pliable and able to hold their shape better. The green is actually some ribbon from my stash.

The gems are all I-Rock Crystals. and the lace is from my stash.

Hi Everyone!! It’s time for a new challenge over at the House of Gilli today!! This time our challenge is ANYTHING GOES!!

Before I get to my project today - I have a VERY SPECIAL announcement for you! This week at CHA the NEW GILLI'S will be announced!! Yes that is right!! NEW GILLI'S!!! They are being released on Tuesday, July 19th!! Can you believe it?? New Gilli's!!

My sister is getting married soon, so I have been working with Bride Gilli quite a bit. I want to put together a fun little Gilli gift for her. So today’s project is a set of coasters.

These fun coasters are so easy to make. I started with some tumbled tiles from Lowes and stamped Bride Gilli with StazOn ink. Next I heat set it and then used Sharpie Markers to color her in. Make sure you do not use your Copic’s when you use StazOn ink – as you can ruin your precious markers. Now I wanted to make my coasters water proof – so after coloring them – you need to bake them in the oven for about 15-20 min. That is it – no sealer needed! I have made tiles like this before and have had no problems with them bleeding or running when wet. My sister lives in South Carolina so it is important to have a coaster that will not run when she sets her ice tea glass on it.

The tumbled tiles have grooves and flaws in some of them – so be sure to pick ones that fit with the theme you are wanting. Here is a close up of some of the tile.

Dreaming of Cool Weather

Hi Everyone!! It’s my day to share a project over on The Bug Bytes. I have to say – I didn’t know what to make for my project today. We just moved (2 weeks ago) and while all the essentials are unpacked and I finally have desks set up in my new office (last night). Now while that is all done – I don’t have my Cricut or Gypsy or any of of my cartridges unpacked. Now I do know where all of that stuff is – and I could go get it out and make a project – but I have no clue where my mats are. So what was I going to do? I called mom of course – LOL!!! The best part of this latest move is that we now live only 4 miles from my Mom. So I called her up today and asked if I could come to her house and make a project. Now the best part about this is that my Mom has an Imagine (oh I so wish I did) – so I just HAD to make a project with it - bummer – LOL! What can I say about the Imagine? I SO WANT ONE!!! It was so quick and easy to make a project for you! I love the way it turned out.

I used the Snow Angel Imagine Cartridge and white paper, adhesive and some I-Rock crystals – that’s it!! I even printed the background paper – so cool!! I love this!! I used some pop dots for added dimension and it really makes the snowmen and snow stand out.

Lady Gilli with some Bling!

Hi Everyone!! Today it is my turn to share my Bling Inspiration project over on House Of Gilli Challenge Blog. Be sure to check out all the Design Teams inspiration projects and enter your own project for a chance to win a great Gilli prize!

I started with Lady Gilli and added some bling with my Spica pens. I love how versatile Gilli is. You can add as much extra detail as you want – I love that.

A lot of the bling on this very subtle, but I really like what it adds to the project.
