Recently I met up with Natalie in Portland, OR at the World Domination Summit Conference. With 1000 people at the conference it’s hard to spend any real amount of time with any one person especially if you are beautiful, social butterfly and a well liked change maker like Natalie. We did our quick catch up and then she was off but we’ve been using Facebook to keep in touch on what each other is doing.

At the end of this awesome conference in Portland Chris Guillebeau gave 1000 people $100 USD to do something amazing with. How kind and generous right?! Unbelievable really. The $100 USD was to be used for something that would support our development in business or personally or someone else’s. I’ve never treated 100 bones so carefully before. I’m still hanging on to mine because there is something in October I am going to do with it (I’ll blog about it then) but Natalie, well, she came up with an awesome idea. Check it out

The best part of this is that I will be sharing some nuggets of success that I’ve had learned over the last few years with Natalie and she is going to share them with the 100 change makers who are participating. I felt pretty honoured to be asked to be a part of this and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned along the way. There are very few places in the world where you pay $100 and get an abundance of inspiration and knowledge and then have the opportunity to get it back at the end. It’s a no brainer really!

What I love the most about his energy is his ability to share from a real authentic place and talk about the inner knowing of his course in life. He shared that he wasn’t quite what sure it all meant but he knew he was on the right path. He told me that be believed he was connected to IT because although things were not 100% the way he wanted he knew that the course he was on would take him there.

I asked him how he knew. I told him so many people I work with and people I know in my life own, had no idea.

He replied without hesitation, “Karma! What I put into the world is about service, connecting others, and living large from that place. It excites me knowing that my energy comes from others and I can pass that on.”

Then he re-introduced me to a way of being around money and wellness.

“When I use to consult, I would say ‘Here are my fees but I would like you pay what you think it’s worth or what you can afford right now. You will get the same service someone who is paying full rate will receive. All I ask is that you take that same energy and offer it to others’.”

A smile lit up my smile right away. Why?! Not only was that brilliant but it reminded me of everyone who had supported me along the way when I couldn’t afford their full fees. I can list dozens of them.

SO… For July and August, I am declaring a Karma Summer months!

My rate is $400- 4 sessions once a week for 45 minutes (3 month agreement)

I asked Aliyah about her work as an actress and told her I found the preparation for “roles” fascinating. The research, the training, etc. She started to explain to me about one role she is working on right now that requires her to do military training. She talked about the intensity of it. “All that for a few weeks of work huh?” Interesting. When you want to carry IT out into the world and really be “there” you need to put in the time, energy, and resources to make IT happen.

Since the conversation was floating around the topic of IT, I started to get really curious with Aliyah and thinking this conversation was suppose to happen. One thing that really struck me was when she started talking about another role she is doing that just requires her to be with herself, “super present and connected”. It requires her to “let go and be there, not thinking about the scene just being in the scene”. Ok… Universe (I’m thinking) really?

When you align with IT, to your purpose and passion, when you’ve done the whole time, energy, and resources thing you come to a place where you take everything you’ve learnt along the way and just be with IT.

Since I was a kid I can remember my imagination being a big part of who I was. My thoughts were abstract and creative yet in a world which required me to be somewhat conservative and very realistic.

As a teenager I felt lost. I felt that I needed to bury the imaginative me and settle for the world that was in front of me. It got me onto a few misguided paths and it wasnt until I was in my early twenties that my “creative” came back into the world. And when I found my path nothing that the general population said could suppress the fire in me to do what I was meant to do in this world.

Today is International Women’s Day.  To me it’s a day of honouring women who have gone before us and will come after us. For the past 10 years I’ve been working on IT. In 2007 when I discovered coaching and the possibilities it had for myself and others I knew I found IT. Working with people to find their creative is such an amazing gift. To be able to provide coaching to young women through the Passion Foundation is even more amazing.

A few months ago another part of the journey came to light for me. A fellow colleague and dear friend Tia Kelly and I started a conversation of doing more with our passions in the world. And now we are making IT happen.

Think about the voice your mother or grandmother needed and didnt have. Maybe your daughter and her space in our world and the future, or how about you? Think about what it would have been like or how it has been for you?

At what length would you go to, to make IT happen for you?

Yesterday Lucy (my furry companion) and I headed into the woods for a couple hours of nature time. Being in the woods and taking time to really be with nature is a great source of energy for me. Not to mention Lucy. I’m so thankful to be living in a city like Vancouver, BC where you can get the city life as well as beautiful nature all around.

As we were hiking through the woods in North Vancouver we came across these roots (Lucy running around them and me almost tripping as I was in awe of my surroundings and not paying attention to where I was going). As I stopped to look at what I was tripping on I noticed these magnificent old roots and how they had grown to support the gigantic tree above me. Taking a deep breath and shaking the mud off my hikers I had a thought.

If that tree’s roots weren’t strong, if it wasn’t nourished with the rain I was walking in, or the sun to help it’s growth, or the people respecting it’s value it would not have lived as long and been as strong as it was.

Then another thought.

Where would I be if it wasnt for my roots; the past that is the foundation to my present?

If it wasn’t for the values I was taught as a child, for the challenges I’ve worked through that gave me insight, for the places I’ve been that showed me other ways of being, for the people and things that I’ve learnt so much from? I would not have the ground I have to stand on in my life.

Gratitude.

Yes analogies can be made from anything but really? If I hadn’t took a moment to stop and process (verses stop and get upset that I almost fell flat on my face) I would have missed this opportunity to connect with this much needed space.

Part of being in a place of wellness is making sure to check in with ourselves. When we stop and do a 180 in our lives; reflecting on our journey, we gain the energy to move forward in a powerful way. When we don’t we tend to lose our stance and life will take over and sometimes in a not so great way.

If we are careful enough and make an effort to take time to be with IT, to nourish IT all kinds of beautiful moments will arise.

Those roots forced me to really take in everything around me for the rest of the hike. I felt so much more rooted and conscious when we continued our day.
