My disposition is similar to Ila’s today…

Sosi and Paul have been crazy about biking the Confederation Trail (or the Trail, as we call it) this summer. He usually takes her after supper to give me some time to myself.

She is unstoppable, and usually returns bragging of fox sightings, of how beautiful golden time (golden hour) is and of biking all the way to the airport!

The other night we headed out just the two of us for the first time.  I couldn’t believe how peaceful and beautiful it was… and how close it is to where we live! I haven’t biked much since we moved here, and I’m realizing how much I miss it. I used to boot all over Vancouver with Sosi on the back of my bike. It’s quite something now to look over beside me and see her little smiling face.

We didn’t see any foxes, but we did spot some bushes full of gigantic rosehips and stopped to pick them. Our mother daughter adventured continued on the next day when we decided to make jam from them. We used the recipe for Rose hip Jam from “Apples for Jam“. I didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out pretty good.

I love when Sosi and I have alone time like this together. Such wonderful and unexpected things always come out of it.

My barn paintings have been selling over at the lovely Cottage Industry shop here in Charlottetown. This  makes me so happy… mostly because I got to paint more barns! We dropped these happy little ones off today.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that my little girl is starting school in little more than a week. She’s growing up so fast… it’s breaking my heart. She’s even started not wanting to hug me as much anymore,

thank goodness I have this little one who I can hug as much as my heart desires.

I’ve been painting old yogurt containers.

As you can see, Ila is in love… with yogurt and her new friends.

Usually when we take a trip to Halifax it’s pretty much centered around eating at places we can’t eat here and shopping for things that we can’t get here. This time we decided to try and actually see some of the sights. I came back without any cute new clothes but we did see some lovely things and had some much needed family fun time.

A couple of new custom fabric pieces for a little half Aussie girl in Vancouver. Did this and this for her older brother 3 years back.

Chocolate zucchini cake.*A cup and a half of oil seemed a lot to me, I put in less and it was still really rich and moist.*  This cake is insanely delicious… and yes, this is how I get most of my photographs. There is almost always a child standing on the table.

Cream of zucchini soup. I made up this recipe up. I sautéed garlic, 2 potatoes (cubed) and 3 big zucchinis(chopped up) in olive oil, added some stock and let boil for a bit. Then I blended it up with a hand blender and added a bit of milk and some parmesan. The kids and my husband both loved it… that doesn’t happen too often.

My piece for the Out of Purgatory show is almost finished… I think I might be a little heartbroken when it’s all done. I’ve loved every minute of working on it. Here are a couple of little peeks for you.  Happy weekend!

*The yarn I’m knitting with is the “samoyed” yarn from Belfast Mini Mills. Last time I was there they told me there is a lady in the states who has a ton of these dogs, brushes them and sends them the hair. They make all their yarn there. I will do a post about them soon. It is maybe of of my favourite places to visit here in P.E.I. *
