Crenshaw High Honored For Census Awareness

Local students are recognized by officials for census film shorts and awareness

Local and state officials gathered with students, faculty and parents at Crenshaw High School to honor Census PSAs Friday, April 30. The program featured a variety of film shorts highlighting issues about the census and was put together by students of the Crenshaw Media Academy.

California former acting Lt. Gov. Mona Pasquil, U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert M. Groves, Los Angeles Urban League President Blair Taylor and Disney Vice-President of Talent Development and Diversity, Tim McNeal were present and honored the Media Academy students for their stellar work and accomplishments.

"If we can get these young people, like these students at Crenshaw High School, excited about civic engagement and civic responsibility, they'll turn this community around by themselves," said Taylor.

Los Angeles Urban League Non-profit to Receive Donation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software from Microsoft

Microsoft donates over $500,000 to help the organization with using Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Los Angeles, CA -- The Los Angeles Urban League announced today that it will be the first non-profit organization to receive an in-kind donation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM software in fall 2010. Microsoft has been a long-term partner of the Los Angeles Urban League and has provided over $1.1 million in contributions to the organization, with the company donating over $10 million to the National Urban League network.

“We are ecstatic to have the support of Microsoft, a IT industry leader in helping diverse populations realize their potential through the use of technology, as a partner in upgrading the League’s technology and helping us develop state-of-the-art administration and reporting of our programs and initiatives,” said Blair Taylor, League President & CEO. “At the League we are focused on providing high quality services for the citizens that we have served for almost 90 years here in Los Angeles. In the 21st Century, “high-quality” requires the best technological resources available.”
