The Caldwell area is growing up pretty good, I am sure that you have seen some of the construction and the new businesses, such as the Kawasaki dealer, well, the spot where Los Girasoles has been, is going to be a shopping center of some sort. So, from what I have been told, it is about time for this project to start, so, Los Girasoles had to move, but don’t worry, as soon as the new location is ready, they will be open. No, I am not sure when this will be, but, I believe that it will be somewhere around two weeks, at least I hope so, it has only been a day and I miss my enchilada special!

If you are a regular there, then I am sure that you have seen the signs, the new location is on SH21 down there in frnt of the motel, close to the hospital. Yes, it will seem like forever until they open, but if you are like me, I will be watching! The new location should be a good thing for all of us, it is a bit larger so there should be more room for all of us! I know I have almost had to wait in line at the old location, it got a bit crowded at lunch time, and was almost overflowing for breakfast on the weekends!

Sorry it took me so long to write this, but I had hoped to get more specifics. Anyway, I will definitely write about it when they do, and once I have it, I will update the site for the hours and address, and any other changes, see ya’ll there!

Flautas Plate Menu Item #12

Today, I decided to try something different, the Flautas Plate, which was the daily special, I have to admit, I was amazed! As I have previously written, I love the food at Los Girasoles Mexican Restaurant, and have tried almost everything on the menu, but, for some reason, I had not had the flautas before, well, it is now on my list of favorites!

If you have not tried the Flautas Plate, believe me, you are missing out! The special I had today at lunch, more than satisfied my hunger, it filled me up! As a matter of fact, I almost couldn’t eat it all!

So, next time you are in Caldwell , TX, and you are hungry, stop at Los Girasoles Mexican Restaurant and try the daily special, you may just find a new favorite like I did!

I know, it seems a bit awkward ordering Chicken Fried Steak at a Mexican Restaurant, I felt a bit funny myself, the first time, but now, I order it on a regular basis, I love it!

If you are a serious Chicken Fried Steak eater, yes, there are bigger and better out there, but for the price, none even get close! I found one place, that is famous for their Chicken Fried Steak, people come from all over the state maybe even the country, but dollar for dollar, Los Girasoles wins hands down! The best part is that if you want Mexican food, but someone else doesn’t, there are other options on the menu for them, like Rib Eye Steak, Pork Chops, Fried Shrimp, or even a Hamburger!

If you like tender Fajitas, beef, chicken or shrimp, this is the place for it, but I have to mention the most surprising items on the menu, Fried Shrimp, and the Chicken Fried Steak! Both of those are at the top of my list!

If you like Salsa with some flavor, there is none better than the red salsa and chips that is served as an appetizer, but, if you want some hot stuff, ask for the green one, Salsa Verde! If I am getting Barbacoa Tacos, nothing goes any better on them than the green salsa, it is making my mouth water just thinking about it!
