Touch the light....

noreply@blogger.com (FracturedRaven) — Thu, 19 Mar 2015 14:45:00 +0000

It's been so long
It's been distant
It's been silent

It's time to touch the light again

Feed the fire
Feel the heat
Feel the burn

Close the distance
Break the silence
Tell our stories

It's time to touch the light again

Would you love to?

Do you ever just get tired of deleting? Writing post after post, msg or blog note, email or journal entry... only to backspace it or scrap the whole thing... perhaps that's the way this will go too. It's not nerves necessarily, or even the "feeling or worthiness" ... Lazy? perhaps. Frustrated? Maybe that. Worried about readers... No... seriously not that one. Is it just me? Am I the only one guilty of this? Probably not.

Whatever this is... I have a good solid case of it. I dream lately of being in the sand, digging relentlessly... last night, I was in a bird cage, little door open, digging... sand everywhere, me with a pretty green sand shovel scooping away, tossing one pile out only to sink further down. I know there is a message here. I'm not learning it obviously, as it's been a month or better that I've been digging. In the car, in the yard, with friends looking on, my mother telling me I have sand in my hair... fairly consistently... digging.

What doesn't make sense to me is this: I have a good support system here... and yet I'm digging.

And deleting.

Mornings.. are my favorite. While I sometimes get a "housebound" feeling some of the time... I would not trade these gorgeous 'me mornings' for anything. For the last few days, I have sent the girls off to work, the Boy has been at a friends house, or like today, still sleeping...and I have been able to wander out to my weak little garden next to our wooded area. I watch as the sun continues to rise, the chickens scramble around for the scratch just thrown, the cats stretch their legs and find their various perches for a morning bath, the dogs ramble about the yard, spurts of rough and tumble play, a fence run here and there to chase the random passing car... I can hear the goat robbing the hay bin, when he should be grazing about the recently cut lawn...

I am...

noreply@blogger.com (FracturedRaven) — Fri, 30 Nov 2012 12:54:00 +0000

I make lists... long lists of "to-do's"... this isn't that kind of list... except it is, sort of.

I am addicted to sugar: raw, processed it doesn't matter... I just need (note the NEED) & do to consume mass amounts of sugar
I am a procrastinator (like a Ninja skilled/trained procrastinator)
I am afraid (of success... of failure...)
I am sad and then: I am frustrated that I am sad
I am angry with myself
I am a fixer of others
I am weak
I am stubborn
I am the mama and all that goes with that
I am the cleaner of pee on the floors
I am unemployed (as a source of added income) b/c being mama is a job that I do love, just doesn't pay the bills... pays the heart =)
I am worried about money most all the time... no, all the time.
I am over-weight, by my rather loose standards
I am out of shape... a fast walk around the farm and I'm out of breath and need a nap
I am tired.... of all the negatives
I am a "bad" student (ie: not doing the work, not following simple direction)
I avoid confrontation
I am unhealthy/weak both mind and spirit
I am unhappy with myself

I want to adjust/learn/encompass a consistent practice to alleviate or minimize the lax behaviors...

I don't know how
I need someone to hold me accountable to me... because

I am not

noreply@blogger.com (FracturedRaven) — Mon, 26 Nov 2012 13:45:00 +0000

I have been wanting... trying... thinking about posting... then, when I sit, prepared to write... the interrupters arrive and my time - shot, mood is blown, the rant, rave or write has escaped the holding pen.

Over the last several hours I made the wild and crazy decision to add photo-blogs. A sort of month in review... was a little interesting, a lot heartbreaking... and a good reminder of the events that were so crushingly important at the time. I have spent the last 5ish months fully emerged in becoming an Esthetician. It was a whirlwind education and experience. I am scheduled to take the state board testing and very excited about this new path. I am hopeful it will bring some light.

There is no brief synopsis of the summer and early fall events, to fill you in... We "got" two new kitties, gave the little grey one to a spunky little neighbor of ours, kept a little girl who became known as "John Charlie Sheen Stamos... is a girl" ... JC, Jr.... she touched all of us in a very short time... she was adventurous, rowdy, curious and loveable... demanding as kittens can be, but we're suckers here... and we love demanding. Devastated does not adequately describe the heart-ache for our pets as they cross over.

Abigail disappeared in May... MoJo became ill and passed in June

Elphaba decided to climb a tree... for 11 days... she came down, an emaciated frame...5 months later, she is just now adventuring to the forrest again, almost at full weight.

Arizona, fine on a Tuesday, passed on Friday after 2 days at the Vet ICU, he had been shot 9 times with a BB gun, the vet couldn't find a treatable "reason" for his decline... only those 9 BBs. He was the best friend my Girl could ask for... the grieving is in full bloom here still... we all miss him so much... Then JC only a week later... we are raw, protecting our remaining pride with every ounce of our abilities.

Joe the Goat...has been frumpy and lethargic for the Black Friday weekend... today he seems a bit improved, which is damn good because I was about to get out the caster oil :/ yuk... positive thoughts and energy appreciated.

The chicks are well... averaging 8 eggs a day still! We will add more in the spring to our chickery... unsure if we will have a roo again... (we relocated 3 of the 4 to a free-range family home... )Pauly, well he was courageous and kept all his hens in line and safe for as long as he could... RIP Pauly.

The puppies are escape artist, and we now have quikrete around 95% of the fencing, attempting to keep them in the yard and away from our less than friendly neighbor (who owns the BB gun... and other "real" weaponry) .... I have a lot of thoughts on this, better kept in my head I think... =/

The rest of the tail waggers group are an incessant cacophony of licking, chunching, pooping, digging... furry loves.

I get lost in the furry & feathered love that surrounds me here in gorgeous rural North Carolina... we mourn for those who left our blue farm... I imagine them now, doing tricks, harvesting havoc and watching over us.

IN THE LAND OF NOD

From breakfast on through the day
At home among my friends I stay,
But every night I go abroad

Afar into the land of Nod.

All by myself I have to go,

With none to tell me what to do--

All alone beside the streams

And up the mountain-sides of dreams.

The strangest things are there for me,

Both things to eat and things to see,

And many frightening sights abroad

Till morning in the land of Nod.

Try as I like to find the way,

I never can get back by day,

Nor can remember plain and clear

The curious music that I hear.

Natalie Merchant, your voice, your movements and your humor never fail. Thank you, my thoughtful Girl, for an amazing evening with the North Carolina Symphony & one of my favorite artists...

The Countdown gets some rain

noreply@blogger.com (FracturedRaven) — Mon, 28 May 2012 15:28:00 +0000

In 7 weeks I will be 41... somedays, this does not make me smile, I haven't figured out why
(ain't never been an issue before..?!)

The skies tell amazing stories, echoing loudly with stormy clouds

Crying softly, after the dark, thunder has subsided

drinking and whispering condolences and encouragement

providing nourishment to the forest friends and families.

The daily storms that have been passing through, thanks to tropical storm Beryl have been beautiful. We are fortunate that they are not strong enough to cause any damage (so far) to our region, although I have lost a few tomato and squash blossoms to some fairly agressive and large hail bits (grrrr) .... I wouldn't trade it. I find myself looking forward to these huge gray thunderclouds rolling in, the giant bowling ball sounds bashing around above my head, and then the down pour of quarter-sized rain drops plopping in a rapid fire fall of speed... my blouse yesterday was soaked through and I just ran from the back porch down to the chicken coop to close their door (and back again)... took less than a minute... and then, in about 20 minutes the storm had calmed, the drizzles had started and the ground loves that here. The forest and foliage love it... the BUGS love it... I truly love it. (not the bugs so much) Happy Sunday ya'll........

noreply@blogger.com (FracturedRaven) — Fri, 25 May 2012 20:34:00 +0000

I love it when my hands smell like parsley, oregano, basil, garlic, ohhh the list is varied and endless.... All crushed and chopped and fresh from the herb garden I've developed just outside my front door. That little patch certainly rates in the top ten "at my fingertips" benefits I won't soon forgo.

And... in 51 days, I will be 41 ... and this is what today started like.

Where We Meet is the third week of prompts over at 52 Photo's where Bella Cirovic hosts a wildly talented circle of photographers and bloggers and where I find an unending path of inspiration and joy.

Here, at CBF, we gather in the kitchen for almost everything, snacks, homework, small talk, rock breaking.... it is where I smear paint when I don't need to be alone, make attempts at sewing, all sorts of sweet treats and daily dinners... the kitchen is the heart of our home.

Homemade goodness is the sure way to happy faces in our house.....

Even the elusive Teenager offers a smile when lured into the brightly lit, sweet smelling, geode breaking, cheesey smile makin' spot :)

Where's yours?
