When I was a 10^th grader at Trinity Episcopal, I was blessed to take your art class. During that time graffiti was at an all time high in NYC, and much of my art reflected the urban influence.

You assured me that because of my insistence upon reflecting images from my everyday environment, that it was highly unlikely that I would ever achieve my goal of becoming a lawyer which is what I had aspired to do ever since I was 6 years old.

Well because of God’s grace and blessings and being motivated in part by your assessment of my future, I passed the New York and New Jersey Bars in 1986 and the Florida Bar in 1987. I practiced law for several years, and raised a family on the income that you thought I’d never be able to earn.

I didn’t want another day to pass without letting you know that your life and art has impacted people more than you ever knew.

Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas aka "Gabby Douglas" a New Year's Eve baby, made history in the 2012 Olympics in London as a 16-year old who would represent being the first African-American to win the gold medal for the event of the individual all-around competition. She also won the team all-around gold medal the summer of 2012 Olympics. These two major accomplishments has given her the title of being the first American gymnast ever to win both the team and individual all-around gold at the same Olympics.

The fact that she is African American helps for making another first should it happen again that a female African participates manages the same feat. Even more, the Kellogg Company that always features Olympians on their Wheaties cereal boxes as a tribute to gold winners will feature her on special-edition boxes of Corn Flakes in the fall of 2012. This will break tradition of Olympian athletes being featured on Wheaties, so in essence, the event will make Ms. Douglas the first to be featured in what may also become a new tradition for celebrating American Olympic Gold winners by Kellogg.

The 2012 Summer Olympics would also be a moment of silence and praise for Jewish and Jewish-Americans the world over. It would be in 1972, 40 years ago, that the German Olympics would be tarnished by the death of 11 murdered Olympians that were to participate in the Olympic games. These were 11 Olympians the world would never get to honor as winners if they were to succeed in winning medals because their lives were ended by a terrorist act.

Meet Dr. Antonius Gulelmus Amo Afer: Professor and Scholarly writer

Anton Wilhelm Amo was born in 1703 in the area of Africa now readily called Ghana. He was one of the first Africans known to live in Germany. Amo died in 1759. He came to Germany under the protection of the Duke (Herzog) of Wolfenbuttel in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). Hans actually grew up in the Duke's castle. Anton Wilhelm Amo was the first African to attend a German University and the first to obtain a doctorate degree in 1729. The name of that University was Halle. Thirty years before he died.

Mr. Anton went under the name of Dr. Antonius Gulelmus Amo Afer. Mr. Amo Afer not only taught in two German universities, he published several scholarly works, including a Latin treatise entitled De Arte Sobrie et Accurate Philosophandi in 1736. The work translated in english is "On the Art of Philosophizing Soberly and Accurately" With all his achievements and many not listed in this article, he returned to Africa in 1747. Reason: racial discrimination he encountered in Germany.

I am not my hair, so do not judge me by it as being my spirit, my goals and or accomplishments.Chances are my hair has been through more changes then the wind and the seasons so judging me on my hair could leave you bewildered or disenchanted at the least it could leave shocked or terrofired if I have to lay it down at night or cut it off because of illness. If my hair was like the wind it could topple you by its weight one day, startle you another or maybe prick you to death from the pins, spikes or stiffness from the creams that leave it pointy, from the coloring that makes it rough and or the hardness from its perms when it needs a $50.00 plus fix to make it fake again, you know shiny and fluffy like you like hair. No I am not my hair. I am not my hair, my dear and if you think I am you are a scare. You who have never had anything but a fantasy never fulfilled maybe because you only had time to do your hair. Poor simpleton dears. You who are only your hair. I am beyond my hair, because I soar with the angels in my goals and accomplishments. I sit on the throne of success because I have manage stability and learned culture and wisdom and honesty, and know how to praise. I feel the light of the world within the grain of my hair, the antenna to courage and strength and struggle and diligence and confidence and care. African American astrophysicist, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is the man asteroid 13123 is named. That asteroid is known as 13123 Tyson. He resides in New York City and has been revered during the past few decades as one of the greatest living astrophysicist during our century. Constance Baker Motley was the ninth of 12 children born in New Haven, Conn to a woman who was the founder for the New Haven NAACP and a father who was a chef for the Skull and Bones student organization at Yale in 1921. Her parents, Rachel Baker and father Willoughby Alva Baker had immigrated from Nevis in the Caribbean. When Constance Baker Motley was 15 years old, she was denied entrance to a public beach because she was black. This incident would catapult a string of life accomplishments that would include getting a law degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1946.

New Bill Could Force Incest and Rape Victims to Raise Child

GOP Versus Women

In a move that could have thrown Women's Liberation back to the Wild Wild West, 220 Republicans have voted for a bill that will force incest or rape victims that become pregnant to keep the baby, according to a representative from the website, "Citizens for a United America" The bill did not get the 2/3-majority vote intended by Republicans earlier today, July 31, 2012.

The representative, I spoke with from "Citizens for a United America Corp.", whose website's motto states, "Our Vision is for a Healthy, Compassionate, Vibrant America", is an advocate for educational women's issues and political awareness. "There should be concern about the new bill presented in the house earlier today, that would have helped to make victims of incest and or rape who become pregnant then seek to terminate pregnancy subjected to committing a felony. In some places you can get any where from as much as 15 years to life imprisonment as a convicted felon. If 58 votes were granted a yea by the Democrats, this could have been a bill put into law that would have left woman in a form of life sentence whether she was forced to keep a child of incest, rape or sought to terminate the child if caught. Doctors also would be candidates for felony charges if they choose to help any of these unfortunate victims."

This is very serious. Under the proposed bill that was defeated for now, American women could have been on the way of being set up for all sorts of sexual abuse that could leave women mentally scarred, improvised and also the possibilities of a new set of abused and unwanted children. We all have a right to be concerned about this bill that keeps coming to the House floor. Citizens for a United America have been in the business of helping with citizen’s awareness on major political issues for men and women of all ethnicity.

One last statement by the source that should be taken to heart. "If a bill like this ever gets passed, American women will be held hostage." At the least, this statement is profound, true and should be remember to help with a call to action by all adults to take this bill very serious and follow how the House moves action with it.

The first holocaust of a people started in Africa during the 1890's in world history. Even more, Africans were later transported in the 1900's to Germany where the continued holocaust of Africans took place. It is the often untold and hidden story that Africans suffered at the hands of Germans for more than 50 years long before the holocaust of Jewish people and along with Jews in concentration camps. In part, the concentration camps of African people were created as the first test for upcoming annihilation of future generations of all non-aryans.

In the town of Namibia or Southwest Africa, the first concentration camps by Germans were set up. Experiments and violent vicious killings of hundreds of thousands of Africans were executed up until the period of 1945. This article begs for the reader to have an open mind and try to stay away from forming opinions of which "race" of people suffered more or less than another and instead take the facts as to what it is. The one fact that when it comes to the perpetration that Jews were the only sufferer's of concentration camp killings is a falsehood. In fact even black American and French soldiers died in these camps. Maybe 1000's. Freedom of the mind, comes not form the freedom speech as much as right to know the truth. Mental Health Debate and Unconscious Mind of Youth

The Batman shooting in a Colorado movie theater on July 20, 2012, where gunned to death were 12 people and dozens injured by a 24-year old ex PHD college student, is a reminder of the condition of mental health that is deteriorating among youth. What is the cause of so much anguish among young adults that cause them to do horrendous acts to be recognized by peers and or in society? Nations can continue to blame mental illness and brain disease on environmental sickness, which could be true, but what environment or environments are to blame as a certainty?

Shall humans continue to blame air pollution, food, water and medication as a factor to poor mental health? Yes, air, land, water and certain medications can help damage the brain. Yet we are also dependent on all the services of each. What is never taken seriously is not just the element lost of a higher power to believe in, but a common power that makes logically sense in today's society that represents tangible associations in our daily activities. The power of integrity has been lost among young people, especially among young people who daily, see very little of it through the projection of authority figures in their lives. Perhaps older adults need to take a deep intuitive look at their projection of self dignity, lack of trust they emanate and lack of wisdom they both partake and share. If warring is the answer to gain respect, freedom and power among nations and in business strategies, how can it be expected that youth will not lash out in anger and rebellion on as many levels the heart can think of to be noticed, heard and or have their pain understood by making use of variants of war like mentality and deeds?

Every medium a young adult has seen since the bombing of the World Trade in 2001 has been of terror and celebrity. Adult video games and all movies use vengeance and warring to make for glory and or financial game. World of Warcraft comes to mind of an adult came played by 10 million customers and growing that grown business men will fight, cheat, steal and spend millions of dollars to gain access to higher levels of the game by way of "gold mining." The game is more important to many than mentoring a young adult to do real business in the real world. It has become more and more challenging to decipher the difference between reality and reality. Did you get that? Add to that theory images of sexual appetites that all stray from commitment and or the necessity of the bond of love and respect, the mental condition and beliefs of young adults becomes that of animism, selfish, cannibalistic, animalistic, greedy, uncaring and ultimately the self will lack good thoughts or a good spirit. Living for and or having the desire to find the good in all things becomes neglected and even foreign. The unconscious mind lives in mayhem when this occurs and a great debate on mental health among youth that rebel and commit heinous crimes like those done by 24-year old, James Holms persists; not that his actions on July 20, 2012 or the booby trapping of his home is a definitive reasoning that he suffers from mental anguish or one of many mental illnesses affecting young adults.

What becomes most important is acknowledgement by any means necessary to a mind diseased with hatred of self, society and communications that are riddled with misunderstandings, misinformation, lack of consistency and injustices. To be of mostly a carnal nature in a "civilized" world makes for a lonely, unhappy, empty heart and an evil thinking process. Confusion becomes the thought in each hour and the need to be seen and heard, prominent. The need of celebrity in the lives of young people has become a global phenomena that adults help cater to every day.

The lack of mental preparation for the real world that is ever changing by the minute is overwhelming for impressionable minds such as the young who already feel misfit among peers. Some young people just simply cannot keep up and or handle, the now, billions of bits of information swung at them every time they blink their eyes. No one escapes today not finding a place that they feel at home who has become separated from the common traits of humanism lost in our advancing computer age. Every value a parent teaches their child today about being "good" with promises of having a "good" life is challenged from the moment they turn on the news to the time they return home from playing outside, attending school and or going work.

It is not enough for family and school officials to step in but the entire human populous to take heed that there is a bigger condition going on with the mind of many young individuals that is more than mental illness. Programming is the biggest issue with terrified youth who lash out and kill to help rid their conscious of the uncertainties, fears, lack of love they feel, share and see daily in their lives. If we do not begin to reprogram our thinking as to how we conduct our thought process as to what is human value and or value for human life, environments and justices, we could see a continued upsurge in "mental illness" among the young globally. Unfortunately, the 24-year old shooter, James Holmes, may only be the beginning of examples of youth terror tactics that adult authority figures have helped to create.

Dr. George E. Alcorn, Jr., an African American, won the NASA Inventor of the Year Award recently. His invention, a spectrometer would be helpful for all science exploration study. Physicist George E. Alcorn, Jr. invented the imaging X-ray spectrometer in the 1980’s. Dr. Alcorn accomplishment won him the NASA Invention of the Year Award in 1984. It would be almost 20 years before in 1967 that he would earn a Ph.D. in Atomic and Molecular Physics from Howard University. Between 1965-1967, the African American Doctor of Physics would do research under a NASA-sponsored grant to study negative ion formation. Alcorn, Jr owns eight patents in the United States and Europe. All the patents are on semiconductor technology. -(for complete article) Physics professor George E. Alcorn, Jr, is a member of the IEEE and other organizations. He has obtained various fellowships and scholarships in his career. Alcorn, Jr has worked for Rockwell International for much of his life. He was born March 22, 1940 in Miami, Florida.

Two of his patents are based in the design and building of space instrumentation and atmospheric contaminant sensors. Who Created the Digital Microphone?

Dr. James E. West is an African American not recognized by the average consumer, yet the average consumer uses or has used his invention that has enabled digital sound recording, voice communication via cellphones and more. For instance, the tape recorder that older consumers are most familiar with can thank Dr. James E. West for access to the wonderful memories many recording devices enable.

If you are a rapper who likes to rock the mic or a spoken word artist who loves to spit, you can thank Dr. James E. West for creating and being the owner of the patent that helps people talk and record in digital globally. He developed the mic that is technically called an, Electroacoustic Transducer Microphone. Only 10% of all microphones are used on designs not created by Dr. James E. West.

Inventor, James E. West and one of his colleague are responsible for seeing the design through to the patent they got in 1962. They were working with Bell Laboratories at the time. Mr. West was born in Prince Edwards County, Va. in 1931. He graduated from Temple University.

He has won various and honors awards associated wtih the creation of the microphone. Dr. West also won the Fellow of IEEE, Industrial Research Institute's 1998 Achievement Award. Amazingly, he holds 47 US patents and more than 400 foreign patents, all during a 40 year career with Bell Laboratories. Dr. West is an advocate for being a mentor to young people in the sciences. Two such programs are the Summer Research Program (SRP) funded by Bell by the suggestion of Dr. West and the Cooperate Research Fellowship Program (CRFP). More than 500 non-white students have graduated with degrees in engineering, mathematics and science because of these programs, and other's he has involved himself personally to make the programs successful.

Dr. Mae Jemison Speaks Russian, Japanese and is the first African American Woman in Space

Dr. Mae Jemison is an African American woman now in her fifties who was the first black woman to enter space. Her career as an astronaut and mission specialist for NASA was after she was hand picked by NASA to do a special training that would prepare her to travel aboard the Shuttle Endeavor in 1992.

Dr. M. Jemison served as a medical specialist for the Peace Corps after she graduated from both Stanford University and Cornell University. The exceptional talented Dr. is fluent in four languages, two of which are Russian and Japanese. It is started that she was interested since a young child in the fields of anthropology, archaeology and astronomy. It must have been dreams come true to be chosen to explore space.

Dr. Jemison left NASA the following year after her exploration in space to form her own company. It is called the Jemison Group and it concentrates on the advancement of technology and improving health-care for Africa and other countries that are developing. She also is a speaker on the importance of connecting arts and science together for the surviving of civilization. She is a very inspiring soul and leaves with you when you leave her words filled with inspirational spirit. What is not commonly known is that this woman was also a dancer and literally haggled over whether to be a physician or a modern dance pro.

Your 3D Movie Experience was Developed by a Black Man

African American inventor, Marc Hannah, is a man who has been a strategic gaming and graphic designer in the 21st Century whose impact has created all digital games and heped all Hollywood producers expand productions in 3D imagery. Mr. Hannah is one of the founders of the software firm Silicon Graphics, now known as SGI. It was at this company that Hannah developed 3D graphics technology, the technology that Disney movies, young children, adults and young adults run to the movie houses by the millions to experience. Marc Hannah has been most influential in designing the Nintendo 64 gaming system as well.

Born in October 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, it was in 1982 that Hannah and six other people founded SGI and make his talented engineering computer graphic history. His company is responsible for designing powerful computers and programs that are now the special effects of the century. Just think for a moment the implications of Hannah's designs. The high tech graphic Arnold Schwarzenegger movies can be attributed to Hannah’s designs, television programs and even government illustrations used for strategic maneuvers would not be possible without his innovative technology.

Anything that has to do with 3D, Hannah was the one who made it available. Marc Hannah was awarded a scholarship from AT&T's Bell Laboratories in which he attended the Illinois Institute of Technology. He obtained a B.S. degree in electrical engineering, the same field that Dr. Mark Dean, who developed the first home computer and the cable that allows computers to be viewed in color specialized. After Dr. Hannah's graduation from the Illinois Institute, he went on to Stanford University where he got his M.S. degree in 1978 and in 1985 obtained his Ph. D in electrical engineering.

Jobs would probably say, the beginning of mass home computer marketing sales; one that was made possible by Dr. Mark Dean. Jobs would agree that without Dr. Mark Dean, he would have never had the opportunity to create the Apple Macintosh enterprise. Here's something to know about the computer world often untold. Here is the bio of the creator of the original home computers.

Dr. Mark Dean was a straight A, African American star athlete in high school before graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1979, top of his class with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He furthered his education with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University 3 years later.

Mark Dean went on to work for IBM as chief engineer. It was then that his team developed the IBM PC/AT under his supervision. This creation was the original home office computer. Dean and his colleague Dennis Moeller developed the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) systems bus. This is the component that allowed multiple peripheral devices known as modems and printers to be connected to a PC. It was this design that would enable millions to begin to purchase computers for their homes and small businesses or small business offices. Mark Dean went on to own three of the original nine patents that every PC is based on. Later he added to his list of inventions the PS/2 Models 70 or 80 and the Color Graphics Adapter. If not for the adapter that Mark Dean made available through designing it, there would be no ability to have color display on the PC.

Mr. Dean did not stop at his creation and educational achievements. He went back to school and obtained a PHD in 1992 in Electrical Engineering. Within five years of his graduation, he became the director of the Austin Research Laboratory and director of Advanced Technology Development for the IBM Enterprise Server Group. He has held numerous high ranking positions in the technology industry.

Brown University's First Black President

Dr. Ruth Simmons, President of one of the most prestigious Ivy League Colleges in the world for almost twenty years has stepped down from her post, but she has no intention of retiring from all work.

As the days of Black History Month 2012 ended, so did the beginning of the reign of the first African American Ivy League President ever who happens also to be an African American who was also, the first woman ever, to reign as President for the prestigious Brown University. Dr. Simmons has been President at Brown University for more than eleven years.

The married mother of two up until as late as 2009 has had an 80% approval rate from Brown students. Ruth's Simmons resignation became effective at the end of the 2012 Academic year. She is the 18th President of a school that boasts being "the oldest higher education facility in New England and seventh oldest in the US."

Dr. Ruth Simmons was born to a family of sharecroppers. She was the last of twelve children. Simmons attended Dillard University and Harvard University during her educational years. A few of her professional academic administration positions have been at the University of Southern California as Assistant Dean of graduate studies and an Associate Dean of graduate studies at the same school. As a professor, her specialty was romance languages. Dr. Simmons was also Dean at Princeton University for seven years and served as provost at Spellman College for two.

Her announcement in late 2011 that she will retire comes with a long history of many accomplishments as both an educator, fundraiser and overseer of one of America's most expensive and top schools in the country. She has been an inspiration for almost three sessions of graduates attending from freshman year through being a senior. Her retirement as Brown University's overseer will not stop work she feels still needs to be done in education. She has been quoted repeatedly on how strong women helped influence her success through being mentors and educators that cared and or believed in helping to inspire youth. It is something that she continues to believe will be part of her continued life mission education and mentoring, especially in the help of young women.

Tandy, The Forgotten Architect

Vertner W. Tandy

St. Phillip's Episcopal Church is located in New York City in Harlem at 204 W. 134th Street. This beautifully designed church was done by an African American named Vertner W. Tandy who was freed from enslavement then became known as one of the greatest architects of all time in American History. He was also made famous for designing the first black female millionaire Madam CJ Walker's 35-room Italian Renaissance Revival mansion located in Hudson, NY. Her house was a throw away from the mansions of Rockefeller, Carnegie and Tiffany mansions during earliest years of the 20th Century. Did you know that?

Vertner Woodson Tandy was born in 1885 on May 17 and died in 1949 on the 7th of November. He studied at Tuskegee University. As an Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity member at Cornell University in 1906, he designed the fraternity pin. He even helped as the first treasurer of the fraternity to get the Fraternity incorporated.

Vertner W. Tandy’s company was called Tandy and Foster. The company was named after him and his African American architect partner, George Washington Foster, who was born in 1866 and died in 1923. Besides the church and Madam CJ Walker's mansion designs, he managed to build an apartment complex that today is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The name of that complex is The Ivey Delph Apartments that were designed in 1948. The housing still stands at 19 Hamilton Place in Harlem aka as the Northern Manhattan area, a name that will soon help take away the grand history of this area that so many African American's built with the name Harlem attached.

Vertner W. Tandy was a design genius born in Lexington, Kentucky. He died at the young age of 64 of pneumonia. His funeral service was at the church that he designed. He was working on his last project called, "The Apartments" when he passed.

NOTE: This article is an example of how changing the name or association with Harlem to a name such as Northern Manhattan damages the value of its rich history and African American people who made history there.

Why Was this African American History Blog Created?

Tell Them:

"Without Blacks, you wouldn't have a job, your liberties, music, food, fashion or a place to eat or sleep. There would be no America to come to as you know it. Yeah I said it!"

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going take it any more! How many times have you heard that statement in a moment of someone's stress when they feel it hide time to combat fallacies, ignorance or find chatter intolerable to listen to any more? It could be that a person using the cliche for a moment is simply sick and tired of experiencing the uneducated and unmindful individuals who propagate dumb statements when it comes to African American history. Seeing constant negative impressions about the black man and progress of the Black nation will make anyone with knowledge about history in general at the least annoyed.

Based on the lack of knowledge about American History as it pertains to the impact Black people have made building America, this blog has been started. There are certain personality types, that justice about the lack of black history can only be made by the sword of the pen. Newcomers to America who think they can say whatever they want out of their mouths about and to my Black brothers and sisters in a negative stance, beware and learn of your ignorance through the words of this blog. You who think blacks were made slaves because they were weak or destine, are you really that naive?

There is not an inch of American history Africans brought to America and then enslaved physically and mentally did help in strides to make America one of the "greatest nations in the world" all on positive and marketable tips! There would be no jazz without African descendants.

You think you deserve a piece of America? Really? Show some respect. And for my brothers and sisters who fall into the stereotypes as a way of life and projection, get some. African's who were enslaved against their will, fed cocaine to work mills, farms, build American business, railroad tracks, buildings, fight in wars to save American citizens, sometimes with mere sticks, died in civil wars for peace in the streets for All American's have been simply awarded with having erased from memory, the history, culture, music from their lineages and history books. Even more, lack of rewards and awards include, never being given any reparations, but instead given representation as a nation by establishing globally a few entertainers that you are stupid enough to believe defines being black!

The Black Nation, that some of you think you are "better than", created your way, your peace, your ability to make money in America, and most of you do it still on the backs of Blacks daily. You have reference of black people having made significant cultural impressions in your lands and own history that you bring here in your knowledge and hide it. You are no better than the established mediums that keeps black history hidden. You lie.

Non-Americans have come to America to reap from the backs of black sweat, tears and blood. I don't care what you think about it or me, the fact stands that world citizens need to be taught the remarkable additions to human survival and global progress of humanity. Obama is not the representation of how black people can progress and or has done. Oh, and how many times have you heard Obama considered Black when it's convenient and not Black when it isn't? Did you get that last sentence? Well, if you got it and see beyond media glitz, then you have found the blog to help you combat ignorance about the various states of being black.

I don't give a damn about "the white man, now " lemme finish my sentence before you break a tooth gritting your teeth. I don't give a damn about what the white man... has done. That statement that keeps reverberating still among many African American males and females who want to feel pity and hatred about how blacks suffered in white American society decades ago. Take a look around people. Can I say, Occupy? Get over it! Occupy participants know their history. When the fog is removed, they will be better off and you my black, white man naysayer brothers and sisters that may even still teach your children this slave like mentality and rhetoric, will still be wandering the desert losing spirit and being out of touch with reality.

Why don't you teach the truth? If you don't know a lot of it, then you need to log on to this blog frequently. Make it part of your day. It is meant to educate and free your spirit for falsehoods and help you get it all out of your system, hopelessness. You, life, making money and being progressive is not hopeless because you are black, but expecting and hoping the system is going to help you because you are or you think you deserve an edge leaves you sadly mistaken.

You are not going to ever get whatever it is you think you deserve. You have to take it and the way you do that is by arming yourself with respect for your culture and taking pride in your capabilities. Stop emulating the white race in all their glory with nothing more than being a clone lover of materialistic gain. Rise up to know who you are and teach your children to be human first. Learn to accept that you do not know enough about your history and or media communication. Stop falling prey to being or believing in stereotypes.

Your plight is not what has happened to your enslaved ancestors, but your continued enslaved mind and the minds of those who you meet, greet and do business with that continually arrive through Ellis Island or did. Well, you get the point. Get connected. Connect the dots.

This blog is for you who get it. It is to help educate the lost spirit of the ancestors of kings, queens and the spaniards forgotten and disrespected who seek but cannot find or have not before had access to historic black moments in black history that are lost in the books of American life.
