Usually around two to three times a week I get surprised with emails from readers who want to contribute some textures to Lost and Taken. Normally I don't post individual or small sets of textures, but I really felt compelled to this time around...

There's no way wanted to deprive you of this awesome texture sent in by Lost and Taken reader Chris. It's a scan of the inside cover of an old South African ID book the he managed to quickly scan while helping an old man make a photocopy of his ID book to accompany some legal documentation. Feel free to check out Chris's blog at bkd79.blogspot.com.

Just click on the preview below to download the full size image which weighs in at more than 16MB. Enjoy and thanks Chris!

Today I'm announcing the launch of PatternWall.com, a site loaded with all kinds of free seamless patterns for your web design projects (or Twitter backgrounds). I teamed up with Oscar Godson from KneeDeepInCode.com and Angie from Arbent.net to create the site and I'm really happy with the way everything turned out. Apart from the patterns, the site itself features a unique design with some cool Javascript coding (thanks Oscar!).

I would really appreciate it if you helped spread the word by tweeting about the site or saving it on Delicious.com. Thanks!

As with the other set, all of these textures were made in Photoshop by combining 5-10 different textures together in different blending modes. I attempted to make some "funky" grunge textures that are hopefully a little different than the other grunge textures you've came across, while being useful at the same time.

I have all kinds of cool projects in the works, some of them that I know you'll like. Here's a quick rundown of what I'll be working on and releasing in the near future:

Lost and Taken

Lost and Taken will remain my main area of focus for now, the site has steadily been increasing in popularity over the past couple of months and now averages around 2000 unique visitors a day. For the most part I don't plan on making any significant changes to this site (see below), I'm just going to keep pumping out high quality textures as often as I can.

Two things I'm going to introduce in the near future:

Regular Guest Posts - I'm going to be bringing on another person or two to post texture packs a couple of times a month so I can have a little extra time to devote to other projects. Don't worry though, I'm going to make sure that all of the textures released here remain of the highest quality.

I spent a lot of time, dirtied a lot of dishes, and went through about 40 tea bags for these hand-dyed paper textures. Staining paper can be a little tricky and I plan on writing a tutorial on how to properly go about doing it, just in case anyone wants to try. I think the key is using good quality paper, I personally used watercolor paper for most of these.

Please note: a few of these textures were posted on Zen Textures but I thought I'd include them since they've never appeared here on Lost and Taken.
