It's a scan of the inside cover of an old South African ID book the he managed to quickly scan while helping an old man make a photocopy of his ID book to accompany some legal documentation. <p>These high-res ink &amp; tea textures were soaked in weak tea (without the tea bag) for about half an hour. They were left to dry in the garden until they were slightly damp, and were then attacked with blue ink. They were then completely dried (in the airing cupboard) overnight, and were scanned in the next day at 600dpi for everybody to download and use for their personal and commercial projects</p> <p>Click on the textures below to download the high-res version or download them all in a zip file at the bottom of the post. Today I'm announcing the launch of <a href="http://patternwall.com">PatternWall.com</a>, a site loaded with all kinds of free seamless patterns for your web design projects (or Twitter backgrounds). I teamed up with Oscar Godson from <a href="http://kneedeepincode.com">KneeDeepInCode.com</a> and Angie from <a href="http://arbent.net">Arbent.net</a> to create the site and I'm really happy with the way everything turned out. <p>These textures were made using a high quality textured card, coffee granules and boiling water. The card was soaked in a strong, black coffee over night until completely dry, and the same process was repeated to create the coffee blotches. After creasing, the card was stored flat to dry and scanned in at 600dpi, leaving you with high resolution textures to use for your personal and commercial projects!</p> <p>Click on the textures below to download the high-res version or download them all in a zip file at the bottom of the post. <p>A couple of weeks back I posted a smaller set of <a href="http://www.bittbox.com/freebies/free-texture-tuesday-experimental-grunge/">experimental grunge textures</a> over on Bittbox and I had a lot of fun creating them in Photoshop...so much that I decided to do an encore set here.</p> <p>As with the other set, all of these textures were made in Photoshop by combining 5-10 different textures together in different blending modes. <p>I thought it might be time to give you a little update on my plans for Lost and Taken and blogging in general for the next couple of months. I have all kinds of cool projects in the works, some of them that I know you'll like. Here's a quick rundown of what I'll be working on and releasing in the near future:</p> <h2>Lost and Taken</h2> <p>Lost and Taken will remain my main area of focus for now, the site has steadily been increasing in popularity over the past couple of months and now averages around 2000 unique visitors a day. For the most part I don't plan on making any significant changes to this site (see below), I'm just going to keep pumping out high quality textures as often as I can.</p> <p>Two things I'm going to introduce in the near future:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Regular Guest Posts</strong> - I'm going to be bringing on another person or two to post texture packs a couple of times a month so I can have a little extra time to devote to other projects. <p>I have a pretty epic set of textures for you guys today. I spent a lot of time, dirtied a lot of dishes, and went through about 40 tea bags for these hand-dyed paper textures. Staining paper can be a little tricky and I plan on writing a tutorial on how to properly go about doing it, just in case anyone wants to try.
