That Moment Chicago Started to Feel Like Home

I've lived in the United States for more than eight years. During that time—the majority of which was spent in the decidedly Midwestern state of IndianaI was never entirely convinced that America was where I belonged in the long-term. Understandable, you might think, given that my true home had always been an overcast island just north of France.

Unboxing Essential British Food Items

Over the holidays, my good friend Tom and his other half, Joanna, very kindly sent me a package containing lots of essential British food items (plus a handy helping of non-British goods). Unfortunately, I was out of town for 11 days and only just now discovered the package waiting in my mailbox (not a euphemism).

So I figured now would be the perfect time to do my first unboxing video (I always assumed those videos were something my cousin Edwin did). My thanks to Tom and Jo from across the Pond: may we see each other again soon.

Laurence Brown Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Everybody, meet Donnie.  Donnie is what happens when your wife's aunt and uncle give you this cap and glasses as a gag gift for Christmas. And, in a week that has involved a lot of decadent food and pseudo-excessive drinking, it was only inevitable that I would make this video. I hope you enjoy it! I assure you it's done with the greatest affection. Happy New Year!

Sometimes, it's better hearing me in a British accent. Click the red button below.

Laurence Brown is a British man writing his way through the truly bizarre world of America - a place he sometimes accidentally calls home and a place he still hasn't quite figured out after seven years. Thankfully, his journey is made 12% easier by the fact that his accent makes him sound much smarter than he is. For evidence of this, subscribe to his popular Lost in the Pond web series over on YouTube.

View from the Farce Side: A Postcard from London

Recently, Lost in the Pond guest blogger and British expat, Mark Turner, returned home for Christmas. The following is a journal from his visit to London.
