Great article Dustin. I believe every potential customer wants to know 3 things: what have you got, how can it help me, and how do I get it.

However, the answers to those questions need to be presented in different ways that appeal to the different personality types you covered in your article.

Also, it is important to know that 92% of potential customers are searching online for products and services they are interested in, but they search in different places: Google Youtube, Yahoo, Podcasts, etc. so besides the different styles of messages, a company needs to engage those customers on their turf - everywhere they are searching.

The good news is that online marketing has the ability to return a great ROI. Put a video ad on youtube and it's like a salesman selling for you 27/7 for the next hundred years.

There's nothing worse than going to a convention (the industry doesn't matter) where everyone is talking about implementing the same new and 'exciting' strategy to their business.
"Hey, let's all do the same thing so that none of us stand out."
No thanks.
I love the article. Maybe I should get a nose job to make mine stick out a bit more...

I too identify with the remarkable aspect. No one else in the world has your personal perspective and that should be your driving force...."dead fish" finish last. I enjoyed reading Brave Bold and Fun this morning and look forward to more.

Dustin- Thank you for this post. It was so timely. I love the "only dead fish go with the current, " quote. I also am excited to study the word remarkable on a deeper level. I love your blog! Thanks for the great thoughts. :)

Well I recently started my own business and to be honest, I have quite a few concerns. This being my own boss gig is pretty new to me. I know owning a business isn't all about the profits you receive, but realistically, it IS a part. I will be the only one bringing in income pretty soon, and that freaks me out. I sometimes focus mainly on that fact and it gets me all discombobulated. So far I have found it difficult to get the fear of not being successful out of my mind. I let it consume me, and it takes me away from what I really should be doing.
Another concern of mine is that there are quite a few other individuals doing business in the same industry as myself, and I find it so difficult to stand out. I don't consider myself a shy person, but the way I want to run my business is so different than others doing the same thing, and I have been shying away from those attempts due to this fact. I want to be brave and bold and fun, and am finding it hard to push forward with those ideas.
I appreciate your blog and look forward to continue reading. Best of luck to you.

Hey, your comment was received yesterday and is displayed with the post. The Bible image is just a graphic from a sidebar ad on the site. It has nothing to do (specifically) with this post. Being honest is a good problem to have.

I am hoping my comment yesterday was received. Feedback, why I came to this site: yes, I am loosely regarded as self-employed, and so anything I can do to tighten up everything about my situation except for my budget is welcome. At a glance, the word BIBLE on the front of a book would send alot of entrepreneurs I am associated with running, as it's business first for some of us. Of course there are many kinds of bibles, I have a few references of various types that I refer to as bibles. It is appropriate however that making money and bible are put together at the fore.
As you yourself are an entrepreneur you undoubtedly have positive and constructive advice for anyone attempting to strike out on their own, or who are struggling to improve their business stance.
"Well, to be honest, which is about all I have and is more than alot of people do, that's the whole problem, to be honest."

I'm glad you tossed hemorroids into the mix, critical to recognize those from the close vantage of having one's head too far up their business model. And, I love your use of the word conceded. Perfect. Your direction towards the benefit of a commodity is perfectly germaine to the success of an enterprise. Five years out is a generous time line....restaurants fold in half that time if they're not going to make it. Thanks for the read, well put.
