A NEW web app has been launched by Discover Africa, the leading tailor-made safari operator, which enables one of nature's most spectacular wildlife events to be tracked in real-time.

HerdTracker is a real time Google map, which shows instant updates of the migration's precise location. This is coupled with a migration map, which publishes accurate monthly migration predictions, based on data from the Serengeti itself.

Real time updates are sourced weekly from pilots who fly over the Serengeti and Masai Mara, safari guides on the ground, Tanzania National Parks Authority rangers and lodges in the Masai Mara in Kenya.

The migration map allows those planning their safari to see a month-by-month prediction, ensuring safari travellers are in the right place at the right time.

Both tools allow travellers to plan their safari around the weather, wildlife, migratory movements, predator interactions, river crossings and where to stay each month of the year.

Andre Van Kets, co-founder of Discover Africa Group, says, "A safari experience is a trip of a lifetime, which can be a complex process to plan for, especially for first timers.

We've developed HerdTracker to help make the journey easier for our customers.

It's an incredible tool that allows you to not only track the great migration in real time, but predict where the herd will be at the time of your travel.

Our expert travel guides can advise customers on the best accommodation and locations to suit their needs, but this tool allows our customers to feel a part of the journey in the run up to them arriving in Africa."

HerdTracker was started by Discover Africa's Carel Verhoef, a qualified safari guide who has lived in the Serengeti for ten years. Between 2003 and 2011 Carel led over 300 migration safaris, and developed a deep understanding of- and appreciation for the annual wildebeest migration. While living in Tanzania, Carel also climbed Kilimanjaro nine times. His 10th assent is scheduled for August 2014.

HerdTracker's migration updates are available to see on www.discoverafrica.com/herdtracker

They are also available on twitter via the @HerdTracker handle.

TOP children's app publisher TabTale has announced the acquisition of Coco Play Limited, a Hong Kong and China-based developer of educational apps and games for kids.

The deal enables TabTale to establish a presence in China and reach a wider global audience. TabTale will also be joined by Coco Play's team, and add its two million monthly active users to TabTale's existing 25 million. TabTale raised $12 million in Series B funding in October 2013, and continues to seek expansion opportunities around the globe in order to enrich its app offerings and grow in new markets.

Via the Coco Play acquisition, TabTale now operates in seven countries, and will further build its portfolio of 3D children's games, adding to its more than 250 games, interactive books, and educational apps for iOS, Android, and Windows devices. Coco Play's apps have reached over ten million downloads on the App Store, with many of their popular titles such as Amazing Coloring Studio and Coco Princess reaching #1 Free Kids app in China and other countries.

"The Chinese mobile market presents a large opportunity for TabTale, and Coco Play's expertise will guide us as we learn the ecosystem," said TabTale's CEO Sagi Schliesser. "We welcome the entire Coco Play team and look forward to working together to develop great games for kids around the globe."

Founded in 2013, Coco Play has witnessed rapid growth due to the popularity of its games. Its apps have reached the #1 ranking on the Chinese App Store in the Kids, Education, and Family categories, and enjoyed similar success in other countries.

"We're excited to be joining TabTale and connecting with their large and loyal user base," added Coco Play co-founder Yang Lu. "TabTale has a wealth of experience designing apps for kids, and that background will provide us with a deeper understanding of the space on an international level."

TabTale's last acquisition was of Israel-based Kids Games Club, a developer of interactive games and apps for children under twelve. The games from TabTale and Kids Games Club laid the groundwork for a partnership that has succeeded in attracting new users and generating over 350 million downloads to date.

ABOUT six months after the official release of Battle Worlds: Kronos, German developer King Art has announced the launch of "Trains", the largest add-on to date.

The update is now available on Steam, Gog.com or via King Art Launcher - for free.

The new DLC contains a whole new type of unit - trains - with different sorts of engines and wagons (Raptor, Big Al, Sabretooth, Mammoth) which can be combined freely and put to use for transportation or battle. "Trains" also brings two additional Multi-player Maps and another Single-player Challenge Map into the real-time strategy game. Furthermore: There's a new Single-player campaign available, providing players with more than 15 hours of tactical and challenging gameplay.

The release of "Trains" is, without a question, the biggest update to Battle Worlds: Kronos so far. It's not the first one, however. Since its initial launch in November, the game has seen numerous changes and improvements. King Art implemented community features and a league system, giving competitive players the chance to compare their progress with others. Creative minds can use the level editor to create their own worlds and share them with the community.

By adding a level editor, the developers made sure that there is a never-ending supply of unexplored levels, featuring new challenges. Other changes were made to ensure a smoother gameplay, giving players the option to skip animations and speed up KI moves. The tutorial of the Kickstarter-backed PC game has been extended to ease new players into the vast Sci-Fi world. There were more general improvements as well, for example regarding game performance, sound and graphics. Last but not least, King Art added social features like a friends list as well as a match-making system to guarantee fair battles.

"We're working very hard to continuously improve Battle Worlds: Kronos and to keep content updates coming. It is important to us to listen to the community because without the players we wouldn't have been able to release the game in the first place, let alone provide free DLC later on," says Jan Theysen, CEO at King Art Games.

NEW research by Qualt, the first company to offer free professional skills courses on mobile devices, reveals that despite the economy's promising signs of recovery and employment levels reaching the highest level since 1971 (30.43 million), eight million UK employees are not happy in their chosen career. A figure which increases to almost one in three (32%) under 25's who have careers of at least forty years ahead of them.

Unfortunately, this high volume of job dissatisfaction doesn't result in positive action. Just 16% of adults are planning to invest in education or training in the next 12 months to improve their current situation. Overall, 58% of UK adults admit they have never invested any money in education or training. Of those that have, 42% did so more than five years ago.

When asked what their focus for self improvement would be over the next 12 months, almost one in four (23%) UK adults cited 'a new wardrobe' as their top priority, followed by fitness (19%) and cosmetic treatments (11%). The research also explored planned levels of spend on self improvement and found that amongst those planning to spend money on education and training, a third (32%) expect to spend £250 or less in the next year. This is around 30% lower than the average £325 planned expenditure on a new wardrobe.

Unsurprisingly, one of the key barriers to entry is money with 44% claiming they simply cannot afford to pay for education and training courses, a finding that is somewhat contradicted by planned spend on fashion and fitness. More than one in four (26%) don't have time, 24% do not want to study anymore and 17% have too many other things to do when they are at home.

The prospect of retraining for a new career presents a whole host of additional fears for consumers. Almost one in four (23%) feel they cannot sustain a potential salary decrease if they move to another profession, 18% feel they're too old to retrain and 11% don't think they will get a job in their chosen career. However, the research suggests that these consumers should think again with almost half (45%) of those that have completed education and training courses in the past five years claiming it improved their confidence and 26% got promoted at work. More than one in five (22%) managed to successfully change careers and nearly one-fifth (17%) found a better job.

A lack of 'free samples' creates yet another barrier to entry as 9% of people claim they are worried about investing in a course they won't finish, yet more than half (51%) say they would sign up to education or training courses if they could try them for free and 9% would do so if they could do them on their mobile.

Michael Curry, co-founder of Floream, the group behind Qualt comments: "We cannot ignore the fact that the recent economic turmoil has left UK workers fearful of unemployment. A stagnant job market with high levels of redundancies often leads to dissatisfaction in the workplace. We believe this is the major reason why eight million people are opting to stagnate in their chosen career, rather than take action.

"We know consumers feel they can't afford more training or that they don't have time for learning. That is why we developed Qualt. It provides free, easy to use professional courses that can be done on the go, on your mobile. This allows consumers to take the first steps in improving their career prospects, in a low risk way. Qualt is truly innovative. It offers people something they are calling out for, in an easy and affordable way, helping kick-start their careers. Employers will love it too and should encourage their workforce to download the Apps that work for them."

The Qualt approach offers 'leader boards' that allow users to track their performance and skills against their peers, the chance to work with the course community, share experiences and motivate each other. These courses allow consumers to sample their chosen area of study completely free of charge through their mobile phone so we feel this eliminates several barriers to entry.

Mobile courses from Qualt are based on courses developed by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Google, the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) and other professional bodies. The new platform aims to open up access to professional skills for school-leavers, university graduates, young professionals, career changers or anyone who wants to learn. Uniquely, each course is fully contained within a free downloadable app allowing users to learn anywhere on their Android or iOS phone.

A series of courses are lined up, covering the core business disciplines of accounting, digital marketing and human resources with more to follow. The first, 'Intro to Accounting', provides a grounding in business and finance and is based on the same syllabus as the AAT Access course, the first level of study for Accounting Technicians. The apps use 'm-learning' modules to deliver teaching, alongside practical tests that measure the user's understanding and ability to undertake actual day-to-day professional tasks.

The app will be launched simultaneously on both Android and iOS and is available to download now at www.qualt.com.

INDIE collective Owl Cave have teamed up with UK independent publisher Mastertronic to bring the acclaimed point-and-click adventure game Richard & Alice to Steam.

Richard & Alice, the debut game by indie PR specialist Lewis Denby and Starbound lead writer Ashton Raze, is a mesmerising story-driven tale about family, loneliness, desperation and the weather - set in a post-apocalyptic world. Following the game's success on greenlight, it will soon launch on Steam with additional features like achievements, trading cards, badges and emotes.

Richard & Alice tells the story of two inmates in a curious future prison, set in a world where years of heavy snowfall have caused chaos and disorder around the globe. Investigate the circumstances of their incarceration and discover the secrets hidden within as the complex narrative unravels and you become immersed in this dark and powerful tale.

There are secrets, lies and lots of snow.

Lewis Denby from Owl Cave commented: "It's a great thing to see Richard & Alice heading for Steam. This is a game we decided to make because we wanted to explore character stories in video games, and the original plan was for a small free game we could bash out and move on from. That we're here now, writing quotes for the Steam release PR campaign, is quite something!"

Ashton Raze from Owl Cave added: "I am very excited to see Richard & Alice on Steam, because it meant I got to design trading cards and emotes. This was a lifelong dream of mine, and finally that dream became a reality. The game being on Steam in itself is exciting but TRADING CARDS! Seriously. The achievements were right fun too. You'll not find things like this in a novel."

Andy Payne, CEO of Mastertronic, said: "It is both and honour and a pleasure to work with Lewis and Ashton as we love 'Richard & Alice'. We wanted to help bring their work to a wider audience on digital platforms and shine a few extra lights on this wonderful game. Narrative in games is a personal passion of mine, I hope this game finds its way into many, many game players hearts and minds. It deserves to."
