Good Morning Everyone!

This week over at Card-a-Day blog, we have been working with a birthday card theme. You can NEVER have too many birthday cards on hand if you ask me. I don't know about you but the ones I always struggle to have on hand are the more masculine birthday cards. So that was the challenge I gave myself for this theme!

Here's my masculine birthday card:

For this card I used a paper pack from Close to My Heart called "Later Sk8er" which has some really fun colors in it. This is a standard A2 sized card.

Both of the sentiments came from our Perfect Fit - Birthday stamp set which coordinates with the Artiste Cricut cartridge. I used Pear and Lagoon ink which are colors that coordinate with this paper pack.

The gears that I used underneath the sentiment were cut using our Artiste Cricut cartridge. You can find the gears on pages 38 and 39 of the handbook.

Our challenge this month features not only one of these amazing cartridges but we also have a Wedding theme. There are so many weddings this time of year! Do you have any weddings coming up?

For my project, I made a bridal shower favor! I have been making a lot of different party decorations for friends in the last couple of weeks -- bridal shower, adoption party, birthday, etc. I have been asked to make up some other bridal shower decorations, so ... here is a favor!

I used BOTH the Art Philosophy AND the Artiste Cricut cartridges to make this. I cut the little bag using the Art Philosophy. It can be found on page 23, A3, Shift, Font Layer, < Star > cut at 5". I used the For Always paper pack.

The dress was cut using the Artiste. It can be found on page 41, B1, Shift, Accent 2, < Q > cut at 4" using the real-deal size key.

I ran the dress through my Sizzix Big Kick with one of my embossing folders. I don't know the name of the folder. I really wish Cricut would put the name on the actual folder. Once you take it out of the packaging ...

For the bow on the dress, I used an image from the Happy Couple stamp set. I stamped it with Black ink and then colored it in using a Cotton Candy marker.

It's Only One Color - What?

Good morning everyone! Today's blog hop comes to you from the Scraps to Treasure Team!

Our goal at STT is to use up all our scraps and leftover embellishments to create wonderful layouts, cards and other projects. This month we are doing that using different shades of only one color.

As I said above, we decided to create monochromatic projects for you! The dictionary defines "monochromatic" as "of or having one color" or "of, pertaining to, or having tones of one color in addition to the ground hue".

That's right you are going to see projects that use only one color! And we are using our scraps - you know those half used packs of paper, etc. that we all have in our craft rooms? For my project, I created a set of monochromatic monogrammed cards:

I made my cards A2 in size so they would fit in a regular size envelope. The card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I used the Artiste Cricut cartridge from Close to My Heart to cut out the images I used on the card:

Circle: page 48, Card, < i > cut at 1 1/4"
"Flower" Circle: page 54, C4, Card, < f > cut at 3"
page 54, C4, Shift, Card, < F > cut at 3"

The monogrammed "D" is a stamp set also from Close to My Heart. I used different colors of coordinating ink and cardstock: Lagoon, Sky, Blush, Cotton Candy, and Cashmere.

The embossed background comes from a Cuttlebug folder but it doesn't have the name on it and I couldn't find it through Google - sorry about that! I used my Sizzix Big Kick to emboss the folder.
