The weekend was spent in the Waikato with some friends, Amy and Mark, on their dairy farm. Saturday morning started with a 5.45am get-up, and after a quick slice of toast my normally peaceful Saturday was filled with all of the smells and sounds of a dairy herd needing milking. After a couple of hours we were all exhausted but very, very happy. I even got a calf to have it’s first ever feed, and drove a tractor (come on boys, who hasn’t secretly ALWAYS wanted to have a go on one..?).

I’ve got to say though that I have a whole new level of respect for dairy farmers. It was a fabulous time playing on the farm, and to then come home to a regular life, but Mark and Amy do this for over 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. It’s hard graft, so big respect guys.

GREAT fun – thanks to Ames and Mark, and their very cute puppy Pai!

So we headed down to the Waikato on Friday night to stay with some friends, Amy and Mark, on their dairy farm. If you haven’t been, get to Hahei and to the Coromandel – it’s stunning. As was Sarah-Lee on her big day (cool segway I thought…). Ant arrived on his tractor with the boys – one of the best entrances I’ve seen in my years as a wedding photographer!

Commercial photographers have image of handling large scale projects, with multiple assistants and a huge budget. I prefer to continue my portrait photographer’s skills into the commercial world and focus on people, and getting the right image of a company’s staff so that they portray a professional and friendly profile to their clients.

These are some images I took for a company called Intek in Auckland. You can see how they have so far used the images on their web site here, but I’ve included a few below too.

It was a cold blustery day up at Long Bay in March, but as always that didn’t stop everyone having a whale of a time. The life of a wedding photographer throws up some great surprises, and seeing my great friend looking so fantastic on her big day is one I’ll cherish for some time.

One of the other highlights from the day was that my gorgeous niece Lily was the flower girl – she looked so cute and did her job very well! :)
