Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing

...love is just a game...

Marie and I took a week-end trip to "Klagenfurt am "words-sea"" last week.

Here are some pictures of people (mainly Marie & Martin) looking at things.

(*Warning: Before you continue reading I would like to inform you that you will come across 4 pictures in which you will find male genitals (not real ones)- but if you're fine with looking at something like Michelangelo's David evertyhing will be ok- if not you might want to consider to stop reading after seeing me (Egbert) for the first time.*Warning over)

This is Marie and Martin looking at something

This is Marie and Martin walking to that something

This is Marie in the woods looking at something

This is Martin looking at something

This is Marie looking at that same something just a few seconds later

Now you're looking at that something

Again- it's you looking at something else

Big one- big one!

This is you looking at an ancient roman recipe for apricot sauce (before you try this at home- be aware that you will need some sort of fish-stock)

We're back at Marie and Martin looking at something (their reflections maybe?!)

This is you looking at ancient roman stuff

This is you looking at Martin reading something

This is Marie coming back from looking at something

This is you looking at the remains of a roman temple

This is you looking at me.

(penises in 3...2...1...)

This is me high-fiving someone who is naked while looking at you with a bottle in my trousers ("in my pants"?!)

This is Marie doing the same thing while looking at the naked person's face

This was us posing for you so you can look at us as we pose for you

That's latin for penis I guess

This was used to mold gold (not sure why they had to put a penis on it)

What is Marie looking at?!

A goat

This is Marie looking at me while I'm taking a picture of her and something that looks like yellow flowers

Now there's some building in the background

We also went geocaching and swimming

This is Marie and I at the words-sea

No more pictures. No more words. (Don't forget to click on those links)

Aunt and Uncle again!

We have a new niece!

Layla Lea Rebekka Huber was born at the end of May.

We were both the exact same size at birth!

Baby-face?!

Proud big sister :)

Congradulations Rebekka, Allan and Joela! We love her already :)

We had wonderful visitors for Easter. We were the last stop on a whirlwind Europe tour and got to show or distinguished guests some highlights of Vienna.

Stephansdom - we were not very good at posing. Need to work on that!

A vending machine for holy water and candles - very practical in a 500 year old church.

We had a traditional Carinthian Easter feast on Easter Sunday.

Eierkrenn, Reindling, platter with ham, sausage and hard boiled eggs.

On the plate: three different kinds of horseradish sauce - with cranberries, apples and one I can't remember.

A close up for Emily Elizabeth ;)

We feasted!

With the great help of Karen I finally finished my blanket!

While Ron and Papa read all about Italian food.

We were busy! In a good 4 hours we made this:

Thank you so much! I learned so much and it was nice to have a hands on lesson.

(I made a pillowcase with the bear fabric and some of the binding but must check where the pictures are.)

It was a great Easter 2012!

something new

2012-06-09T18:58:00.000+02:00

I wanted something new and different. I have never done anything to my hair - except cut it - so this was something new and big for me. It's not as bad as I've heard (all those 80ies horror perms) and I never feel like my hair is boring.

Not bad?!

Come on, come on, turn a little faster...

2012-03-17T20:56:00.002+01:00

As I made dinner tonight, I though: wow, this is green!

Then Egbert came in and said - das ist grün!

(normally we add carrots, peppers and other colors...)

But then we realized - it's a St. Patrick's Day stir-fry!

Happy St. P. Day!!! Mahlzeit!

(And if anyone knows a trick how to get the noodles to mix with the veggies - please share!)

Warning! Boast post...

2012-02-14T20:22:00.000+01:00

Surprise!

For the first time I get flowers delivered to my desk at work and I'm not there...

Probably better though - when I pick them up later I can avoid the fuss and skip the turning beat-red part.

Beautiful!

The Broom smells so good.... but not as good as the perfume I got when I came home!

Love, though said to be afflicted with blindness, is a vigilant watchman.

LOVE YOU!!!

~ I dedicate this post to my Aunt Karen who inspired me to sew. ~

(Happy Birthday!)

I would say I'm a practical person. My creativity arises from practicality. So when I decided to learn how to sew, I wanted to practice by making something useful. I also didn't want to spend lots of money on material if I was "just practicing". I looked up a few tutorials on youtube for easy things to sew - pillow cases seemed like a hit. My husband then handed me a bunch of shirts that he deemed unwearable and that is when I decided: I can make a pillowcase out of a shirt! and I did.

This was my second attempt and since it seems like a pretty cool (and easy!) project, I decided to make a tutorial out of it.

What you need:

a shirt (buttoned up), sewing machine, scissors, pins and a pillow.

Yep. That's all.

Lay the pillow on the back of the shirt and cut out a rectangle slightly bigger than the pillow (I used the pattern to cut along a straight line). Then use the piece as a template on the front - make sure the buttons, pocket or anything you want on the pillow fit.

Lay the pieces together - right sides facing each other - and pin all the way around.

Sew up the sides and cut away excess material at the corners.

Open the buttons and flip the pillowcase by grabbing the corners and pulling the right side out.

Stuff in your pillow and button it up.

(Sorry about the blur - I guess my fingers were just flying...)

And voilà! A pillowcase with button holes, buttons...

...and even a practical pocket.

You love me despite and even because of all the things I do.

Once upon a time there were two people who were 22 years old.

They were in love.

When they were 23, they were still very much in love.

And now they are 24.

Love?

ps. You want to know the 22nd reason I love you?

Then ask me ;)

Tis the season

2011-12-21T23:02:00.001+01:00

Ok, so I promised a long time ago to post more pictures of the nativity scenes I put up this year courtesy of my Mama.

And I'm sure you've been waiting for the 21st reason I love my husband...

He takes out the trash. Nuf said!

Back to the pictures:

In the "Burg". In a private box.

You managed to surprise me.

Reason #17. You make breakfast.

Click carefully!

2011-12-15T21:01:00.001+01:00

(15) I love that you don't need TV. We only watch the shows we want to watch and thanks to youtube we only watch the commercials we want to watch ;)

And we can watch them for hours...

and also adorable kittens

And(16) I love you because you don't smell like lady-scented body wash (most of the time...)

#13

Your are: hard-working, diligent, motivated and you rub off on me :)

When you set your mind on something, you DO it. I tend to sit around contemplating doing it and you make me get up and start doing it. That's why I love you!

Halftime!

2011-12-12T11:25:00.001+01:00

You are creative. You create things.

You decide to crochet a cupcake hat.

You designed our advent"kranz" this year.

Our cyclops pumpkin.

And you're getting pretty good at taking pictures.

That was the first 12 days of Christmas.

Are you still here?

1+1=

2011-12-11T22:55:00.001+01:00

Reason 11. besides the fact that you almost wrote this post because I almost forgot,

I love you because you don't snore!! That's it. Good night!

10 kleine...

2011-12-10T20:21:00.001+01:00

Reason Nr. 10: you just made me Gemüsesuppe, because you know I don't like Rindsuppe.

Schnell bevor's cold wird!

Mahlzeit!!

Track 9

2011-12-09T16:09:00.001+01:00

You are great with kids. They love you. Almost as much as I do ;)

And that is the 9th reason.

...5,6,7,8!

2011-12-07T15:44:00.001+01:00

The fact that you check MY pockets before YOU do laundry is the seventh reason I love you!

Oh and the fact, that you like to wear shirts, ties and rock cuff-links is the 8th reason!

(Since tomorrow is a holiday I'm working in advance (; )

Slow down you crazy child...

2011-12-06T17:34:00.001+01:00

6 o'clock on the 6th of December - here comes reason 6.

We go on dates to libraries, museums and concerts.

(Equal to the top reasons I love Vienna. So I love you because you live here?!)

Five golden rings

2011-12-05T18:12:00.001+01:00

December 5th 2011

This is the fifth reason I love you.

You cook, you bake and we cook and bake together :)

I love that!
